Red Barn Gift Shop & Restaurant

The food was good mussels were good the burger was delicious fries were cooked well. Good portion for mussels. And not to bad for burger platter. Kids meals were pricey. Gift shop that has everything is a bonus.

Staff was friendly and service was quick and attentive. I just had chicken fingers, they were good but not special. Fries were boring but crispy and light so I didn't mind.

The Red Barn is a symbol of joy during any car ride on Cape Breton. The gift shop is full of beautiful, locally relevant souvenirs. The restaurant is wonderful, and the service and atmosphere around the whole establishment is stellar the cherry on top? It has mini-golf! (Who doesn't love mini-golf?) All in all, the Red Barn is in a class of its own, and makes for a wonderful place to stop while on the road, even if it's just to stretch your legs during a long drive.

This is not just a gift shop, or restaurant, it is an icon. It is a big red sign that says "you're home". I look forward to seeing this every time I journey back to Cape Breton. I grew up playing mini golf here, grabbing local items for my mom for Christmas, it is memories of "we are almost home" when coming from away. And when I was traveling, it was the sign that my adventure is beginning. I know that I'm not the only one that feels this way about this place. To many of us, this place is a symbol of so much more love and excitement with family and friends. Not to mention a primary source of directions before we had GPS. "Can't miss it, just take a right (or left) at the Big Red Barn" was words I heard many times, and no one ever did. Thank you guys for being there all these years. Cheers to many more

Only down side, the fryer was either broken or just not in use. Either way my daughter was a tad disappointed to not be able to get fries, but the game of mini golf that the owner allowed us to play even though they were closing, made up for it! Great service and great people!

Best seafood stop we had on our trip. Chowder and Lobster roll where the best around and staff the freindlest hands down. Can't wait to come back. Aug 2022

A lot to see. Actually is like 3 stores plus a restaurant. Knick knacks, shirts, knitting. Restaurant had good food. We had the lasagne and fish and chips. Very good portion and tasty. Beer (Irish Red) was cold and mug frosted. Friendly and quick service. Will visit again

This is a very nice gift shop on the Cabot Trail. It had a huge selection of products with reasonable prices. There is an upstairs gift shop too. The staff are friendly and helpful. They have a restaurant but it doesn’t open until 11am. This place is well worth the stop!

Ive had 2 excellent meals at the Red Barn. Down to earth atmosphere, friendy and casual. Home cooked qualitu meal at a great price point.

Very nice gift shop. Lots to choose from. Some "cheap" souvenirs, but lots of very nice "high quality" souvenirs. A selection for everyone. We'll be back.

I was here a few days ago and bought two pairs of earrings (the same pair, but one gold, the other silver) and a teeny tiny glass crab. I have only posted one pair of earrings because I'm wearing the other ️
I've never been to the restaurant, but I can only picture good things coming out of that place

Excellent food with exceptional customer service. Dont skip out on this place before heading up the cabot trail.

Was making reservations for supper with the family and the place was packed. They gave us a free round of mini golf to pass the time. About 45 mins later we were told that they were later because the people before us ordered dessert as well. When we got in to order, they apologized about the delay and took 30% off the order and a free round of golf the next time we are coming through. Great service, friendly staff and very accommodating. Food was great as well. Thank you to the great staff. Highly recommend.

Ate from restaurant for first time. Awesome food. The best fries and gravy was not salty. Will be going back with more people. They will love it. We did.

Great food. We were on the NL ferry for 16hr and were very hungry they were serving breakfast at 10: 30 but served us an awesome clubhouse. Great flashbacks of 2019.

Food was good and homemade. Service was great as well. A little small, especially with social distancing but would come again.

True homecooked meals, extremely accommodating and friendly staff, very reasonable prices. We've blown by here many times over the years and never stopped.so glad we did this time. Highly recommend!

Food was cold.
Party of 3 had to ask the wait staff yo take our order twice and when food came out it was cold we did let them know there was an apology.offered a 20% discount for next visit.that's good but not from here and the discount no good to us as don't open till 11: 30 am so to layer for breakfast.
So 2 stars is plenty as to us the staff was not friendly enough to go back a second time to try for the prices they wanted.

The food was good, home cooked and real. No "faux" turkey, no canned veggies, no instant potatoes. Service was fast and efficient.

Always stop here when in CB. Great spot for picking up a souvenir or gift idea. Love the Christmas section.

It's been a long time since we were there but I remember it well. It was a very nice stop and we really enjoyed our food. The service was amazing.

C'mon now, if you're going to visit the Cabot Trail isn't it an obligation to visit the tourist traps too? Fun, happy spot with anything you'd want in a keepsake.

Local gift shop-very friendly & unique items. Restaraunt was quaint, staff was friendly & food was delicious.

They didn't have the size I needed but phoned another place in Baddeck and they put it aside for me

Stopped by to get a coffee. Really sweet lite place for a stop over on the highway. We stopped while driving to Sydney from Cabbot Trail.

A nice restaurant at the back of the gift shop offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast Menu was good but heavy with egg options. Coffee was good and fresh but not strong enough in my opinion. Service was excellent and fast and friendly!

Nice little spot, lots of stuff, prices off a little, we were going to buy a 6" lobster pot $15, then saw a 12" lobster pot $20 much better made. Staff never spoke to us until ready to check out.

Lots and lots of neat items here, the only problem was that the majority of the clothing was all large, xl, or XXL sizes and although there were a few things I wanted, there was nothing available in my size. Otherwise it's a nice shop (with two levels) with nice staff.

Paula is a hoot! I absolutely loved speaking with her and learning more about my heritage. Everyone is so sweet and kind and great fun to talk to!

I have been to this location from the birth of this store/restaurant now. I do go in from time to time. Lots to see.and eat.

A good choice for the area, but don’t expect much going in. Prices are decent for the region, but the food is unremarkable. Cute gift shop attached.
