Rodd Grand Yarmouth

We had a 5 star experience before we were even done checking in. Lots of hotel parking behind and beside the hotel with easy access to the hotel back entrance via the parking lot. Reception informed us of rates and promotions we didn’t even know about without being prompted. Room was renovated, clean, and had a great view. The beds were very comfortable - I am picky about hotel pillows and I wanted to take these ones home with me! The heated pool was the perfect temperature. The Grand is certainly holding up to the positive reputation they hold within the surrounding local communities.

The grand has always been one of those places you go as a child. You go to swim, eat and sleep. Best place ever

Great location if you want to walk the waterfront and explore "downtown. " The rooms are clean, and the staff have always been friendly. The views from the upper floors are quite nice.

People have all been excellent! The rooms are great but a tad old. But everything is neat and clean. Had a nice dinner at the restaurant and everything was excellent. Would easily recommend this hotel.

Nice old hotel. Some of the room furnishings looked a little worn, but the room was clean and comfortable. Restaurant in the hotel is hit and miss.

We had to cancel our reservation at the Rodd due to the ferry from Yarmouth being cancelled because of hurricane Fiona. Because we booked online we normally would not have been eligible for a refund but Johnathan the front desk manager approved the refund & even sent an email to bookings.com stating such. I thought this was very considerate of our situation. Apparently they
did this for several other people. Im sure several other establishments would have just charged us. THANK YOU

Oh my this place is disgusting. My husband and I booked this hotel for our 15 year anniversary and we were very disappointed. The rooms were very dirty and haven’t been maintained. The floor in our room were stained, wallpaper was peeling all over, looked like water stains on the ceiling. The carpet was sticky so we always were our shoes. I tried to have a bath and started running the water which started off clear but eventually turned into a nasty brown colour. I decided not to have a bath. My husband asked to see another room and they were the same. The toilets aren’t normal size toilets in the rooms either. Surprised no one has commented about that in their review. Our toilets at home and EVERYWHERE else are bigger and more comfortable. The halls were not maintained and wallpaper peeling and stains everywhere. Walls were paper thin and we could hear crying baby for hours along with a man yelling out his door to tell the baby to shut up. The restaurant food was gross - who can’t cook eggs? Soo weird. But all the staff were amazing and friendly but I still would never return to this dump again. Gross

Reasonable rates, helpful staff and clean rooms. It is a dated-looking facility, but it works just fine. The restaurant is pretty good too.

Great place to stay. The carpets need a good cleaning though but everything else was great. Helpful staff and accommodating.

Service here was amazing. Our only issue was pool access. We have limited mobility and you had to go down fairly steep stairs to get to it. We had a great stay and will definitely be back!

As a hotel, great. Restaurant and food however will have you looking elsewhere for a different place to eat.

The rooms were in desperate need of renovating. Wallpaper was peeling, headboards were way smaller than beds and random two by fours were holding them together. The bathrooms were sketchy and my room smells like stale cigarettes and broken dreams.

Staff are always great and very helpful but nothing "grand" about this hotel's rooms or amenities. Nothing provided in the gym to be able to wipe equipment off after use. Hallways are dingy. Rooms are gross. Lots of damage to furniture, dirty and dusty. Requested my room to be tidied no dusting done, grease marks on mirrors and windows and the bed not made. To top it off there was an ant in my bed! It's too bad because the location is great but I would recommend booking elsewhere for a cleaner experience.

Great experience. The famous maritime celtic band "Celtic Rant" stays there when playing "The Cat"

The good side of this place is that it's downtown and your room can give you a nice view, but my lord it could do with some upkeep. Wallpaper peeling everywhere, carpet stains, you get the idea. The pool was nice though. Maybe we got unlucky with a room that needed renovations.

The staff were great and it looks like it just comes down to lack of spending on upkeep. Come on Rodd.

Just stopped by at the Cafe for lunch located inside the Rodd.
Soup & Sandwich deal was decent price. Soup was delicious, sandwich was bland tasting. Small menu but proces reasonable.

The rooms were clean and the service was good. There was only one elevator since the second one was being serviced, glad it wasn't too busy or it would have been a nightmare. The breakfast here was the worst I had all trip long (2 weeks at this point).

We were turned away immediately because they don't accept cash or debit even with a deposit and they were even rude about it Hilton was very welcoming and about 50 bucks cheaper for 2 nights

The rooms were a little dated location was excellent and the view from the top floors was amazing. Service was great as well

Das Hotel hier ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen, und reichlich abgewohnt. Die 60 -70 Jahre lassen grüßen. Ein bissel wie die Hotels in Kuba. Aber zum Übernachten tut es. Das Personal ist sehr höflich und zuvorkommend. Achso es gibt noch eine beheizten Pool, aber leider keine Bademäntel.

We thought this was going to be a low budget hotel. NO! It was way better than what we thought! They had a pool and sauna. Also the staff was very friendly and assisted us with all our questions. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Yarmouth.

It feels like a song from an Eagles' album.

It's dated but timeless! There's a bit of rust of the "Scotties" retro tissus racks, and luggage supports in room. We stayed in room 720. The King size bed was like getting a hug, it was so nice. Wifi was good.

Staff were friendly and the restaurant was good for breakfast.

This place is fairly priced for everything. We would definitely stay here again even in the state it is.

It has charm!

Definitely has an old school vibe, and I literally mean old school. The lobby reminded me of my middle school, including the men's washroom. Once I learned I was placed in a room on the top floor (7th) I knew it be picture perfect. It was a great view. King size bed which was comfy. The bathroom is a bit dated, however. The bowl sink is a first for me, I never stayed in a hotel where my bathroom sink was a bowl. I couldn't figure out the jacuzzi tub, and was hoping to because the hot tub no longer exists but the heated pool was nice to swim in. The locker room seemed clean. It was relatively quiet as well. As night fell, the dark halls gave me hospital in a horror movie vibe but nonetheless, I had a great stay.

Friendly staff, good service, nice pool. The building is a little aged but clean and comfortable. A few upgrades could be made for sure but nice atmosphere. The view of the Harbour from the top floor is very nice. You can see Bunker Island and Cape Forchu in the distance.

Encountered something exceptionally rare these days during my stay.

Exceptional, genuinely friendly customer service. From the front desk, to the restaurant staff, to the lady cleaning the rooms. Thanks guys! I'll be back.

Pretty average hotel. Nothing special, and stayed at a discount with a promotional coupon for $20 off at their restaurant. Room was nice, simple, fridge + TV, nice shower. Water pressure was pretty high though.

Pool was simple, 5ft max depth, no hot tub though. They had a sauna, wasn't open due to COVID however.

Pool was connected to a fitness room, but that was a mess. Had a few machines, treadmill and elliptical, plus all in one resistence machine.

Restaurant was average, though I can only review a pretty simple traditional breakfast; eggs, bacon, toast, etc. Nothing flashy, had other more dressed up options, willing to bet they were also done well but nothing over the top.

All in all, simple, served the purpose, and for a cute little town, was a nice place to be able to use as a home, as it's right down town.

Price might be a tad high without coupon though.

Rooms are a little dated which is fine, but didn’t include a microwave.
The restaurant staff we dealt with was very rude to us upon greeting us to sit down and eat. No greeting or smile just barked at us to sign in. Stuck us in a booth and forgot about us, we had to flag another waitress for coffees we ordered 15 minutes prior and it wasn’t busy at all, as she was seen walking leisurely around the restaurant.
The pools hot tub and sauna were closed at the time of our stay which was a little disappointing but it’s fine it happens.
The front desk staff were lovely and always pleasant with us. But can’t say the same for the restaurant. Also disappointing the lounge wasn’t open, and the restaurant isn’t open saturdays at all and closes at 8 pm every night. The grab and go breakfast was a disappointment.
So take away, front desk staff were great, rooms were okay. And the restaurant was a disappointment all around. Both in food quality and service, Save your money and eat elsewhere.

Great suite with a sunset view. Pool & dining room open tomorrow after being shutdown due to the pandemic. I might be the only guest in the hotel)

It's an older building and the rooms are a little tired. Clean though. And staff are very good. Convenient location. Parking is free. Restaurant on site that delivers to the room and makes great food.

Wonderful place to stay. Staff are friendly and helpful. Nice clean rooms and comfortable beds.

When traveling a comfortable bed is so important and the Rodd delivered. Room was small, but cozy and clean. The staff was friendly. I forgot myI pad behind and didn't realize it till hours later. They were able to locate it thanks to a greathouse keeping department and mailed it to me. They took great care in the packaging and I received it today. I would definitely stay at the Rodd again.

Bed was comfortable and staff very friendly. Building is looking aged and our room was slightly outdated.

Stayed there a couple weeks ago, and there were cigarette burns on the carpet, butts in the bathroom garbage can and nothing but towels in the bathroom- no shampoo or hand soap. The cold water tap didn’t work either, ended up having to drink cold water from the bath tub. Disgustingly out of date decor, worn down carpets and chairs. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you want to have an uncomfortable stay and without being able to shower.

Decent place to stay. Some rooms have been renovated, but no pressure in the showers. Restaurant needs an updated supper menu, breakfast is usually great!

Rooms were clean, front hallway and restaurant were COLD, had to eat breakfast with our coats on which seems kind of ridiculous to me. It’s winter turn the heat on.

Pretty good hotel in the heart of Yarmouth. The room with two queen beds was relatively roomy and very clean. The bathroom was a good size and the decoration throughout the hotel was not modern but not as bad as some reviews stated. Check in was fast and the room very quiet. There is limited parking and one might have to use street parking.
The hotel has a swimming pool and gym which we didn’t use.

Very disappointed especially for the price we paid to stay here.
Rooms are very dated - ours smelled like old cigarette smoke and the AC gave off a moldy smell. The carpet was not only filthy and worn but not vacuumed.
The sink and shelf unit in the bathroom was pulling away from the wall and the tiles on the bathroom floor very dirty.
Walls are thin and we clearly could hear the people talking in the next room.
When I called down to ask about the the tv no one could tell me what channels were available and there were no instructions anywhere in the room.
The windows were filthy! When we got up in the morning and my husband looked outside he said it was raining - I said "nope, it's dirt all over the windows! "
The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because the food in their restaurant was very good.
This was the only hotel on our 2 week trip through the Maritimes that did not offer some kind of breakfast with the stay.
I was expecting a stay in a nice hotel and instead was frustrated and disappointed after a long day of driving.

Staff is really, really kind. Bed and pillows are really comfortable, so no trouble at all getting rest. Furniture could use a touch-up. Washroom was nice, but shower needs just a tad more pressure. AC worked well. Iron was a bit glitchy.

Tired hotel but clean and very friendly staff. We were pleased with our stay and our room. With this location they would could be the top hotel in the area with a refresh. I would stay here again if I were come back. Good value.

Awesome hotel with great views. It is an older building but well maintained and renovated. Desk staff are friendly and welcoming.

After a very extended stay; all of the staff were very friendly and respectful, to the point of being sad when I had to leave.
The rooms need a bit of repairs because it's a pretty old place, still very homely. The beds were so comfortable.

Average 3 star. The room was clean and comfortable but could use a little TLC. Some info in the room would be helpful.such as location of the pool, where to get towels, nearby restaurants and attractions etc. The decor is a little dated and the pool area, whilst clean, is a little shabby. We were disappointed that the restaurant stops serving food at 8pm. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful at all times.

Awesome, the staff were very friendly and helpful, they went out of their way to make sure that our stay was enjoyable. The Gales restaurant staff were very friendly and the food was good.
We would recommend this property to anyone.
Truer maritime hospitality.

Staff was friendly and hotel was clean, however the hotel is quite old and in need of renovations. Our room on the 7th floor smelled strongly of mildew/mold, had a couple of bad wallpaper patches, and a large poorly done drywall patch in the ceiling, I assume from a roof leak. On top of this the hot tub was out of order.

For the price we paid, I expected better.

This hotel is a bit older, but very clean. I had no problems during my stay. The staff was friendly as well.

Great night's sleep. The food is reasonably priced. My room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Great location within walking distance to restaurants along the waterfront. Great customer service. Also, I had a nice view from my room.

Found the facilities overall very good. Staff are friendly and helpful. The onsite restaurant has good food at a very reasonable price.

Great location in Yarmouth and the rooms I stayed in had a really views. Pool was closed for renovations while I was here, but I used it during my last stay and it was great. I stayed on the third floor both times and would recommend those rooms as they are renovated.

Spent the afternoon enjoying the pool.
Pool area, change rooms & wash rooms were very clean.
Pool was warm and dry sauna was awesome! Unfortunitly the hot tub was not working today.
After checking in at front desk, walk down the hallway and up 1 flight of stairs to the change rooms, washrooms and a small but nice workout area/gym. Another set of steps takes you down to the pool area.

I work there so I'm biased but the beds are like clouds, thinking of booking another night just to sleep in one of their beds again.

Using a Banquet room for business for two days, and ate at the restaurant. Great service and delicious food. Server Chrystal stands out!

My family and I travel regularly and after 20 yrs away, we came to visit my childhood town and stayed at the Grand for the pool and location. As a hospitality worker, here's my two cents:
- attentive, polite staff, but not enough of them.
- bathroom; hot/cold vanity taps are reversed, no towel bars/hooks, no extra toilet paper, no soap dish. Clean and semi modern.
- room; was freezing upon arrival, but after 45 minutes was very cozy warm when we turned on the heat. (booked our room over a week ago and they could have turned heat on b4 check-in?)
- clock was 1 he 20 minutes off.
- sheets were not fitted on mattress.
- empty can on floor by bed.
All and all this hotel is nothing special, but O. K. I've stayed in 3.5 star hotels that are worse and better. Biggest issue was the housekeeping doing less than minimal!

Felt like We were disturbing the staff every time we asked a question. Bed was comfy and Sheets were clean but the room hadn't been vaccumed in some time.previous guest's toenail clippings in the carpet, water left in the fridge by previous guest and there were little black whisker hairs all over the bathroom counter. We were not told when we books that several volleyball teams were staying there nor were we told that if paying cash you must pay an additional $100 cash deposit. Luckily this wasn't an issue. I found it notable that we had to wait for our room to be inspected for damage before checking out but I have yet to receive a call regarding a phone charger left behind. Oh and don't ask for exceptions to the menu.we were told "he won't do this anymore so don't ask again". We would not return and certainly not recommend.
