Extremely oily and save dimes wherever they could. Not a typical Indian restaurant where they would give the heart out

Update Jan 13,2024: still the best Indian food I've had! Tonight I tried the Butter Paneer and it didn't disappoint. The biggest problem when frequenting his establishment is choosing what to have Still a #1 recommendation.

Update June 3,2023: Still amazing, still delicious, friendly service and the best aroma in town!

First impression: you open the door, take one step inside & are hit in the face with the scent of fresh spices! I wish I could bottle the scent to share with you all - guess you will just have to swing by and smell for yourself!?

This is not fast food! If you want a meal that is slapped together -keep driving - this place is not for you.
DO: Bring your appetite and patience. These dishes are prepared to order and it's well worth the wait we (We may have come for the first time on Tuesday and today is Thursday!)

This is love poured onto your plate. It starts with hand-ground spices, fresh ingredients and a love of their culture. You can tell that the chef loves to share his home with us! It really feels like you are at grandma's house eating recipes that have been passed down through generations.

Bottom line: don't miss the best new restaurant on "the strip"! Lower Sackville has needed more diversity and this place hits the spot

Absolutely delicious & hands-down the best Indian food I have had in the HRM. We placed a large take out order during opening week and they knocked EVERYTHING out of the park. Excellent service too! I would include photos but it didn’t last long enough to take any! Longer wait time which is completely acceptable in what appears to be a busy first week. Would recommend to anyone who likes Indian food and even to those who don’t!

We travelled to Saint John in last summer and were impressed to eat at Royal King. We are so happy these guys have opened one in Sackville. OMG the Chicken Taka Tak is amazing and we repeated our order again.

Good but not fantastic. We had to wait quite a while for the food for sit in service. Which I understand if doing A-lot of take out but we are talking 1/2 hour maybe a bit more. My dish was good, partners was not as expected. Unsure if I would return. But was tasty can’t say it wasn’t.

WOW! Why didn't Royal King come to Sackville sooner? I wish 6 or 7 stars was an option.

The chef/owner clearly understands the concept of FRESH. He grinds his own spices and the flavor of the dishes reflects his passion.

The person that said it is too pricy must not understand the value of fresh.

They also have an amazing selection of vegetarian options for starters and mains.

Don't come if you are in a rush. The dishes are made to order and worth every second of the wait.

My wife and I love food from all ethnicities and this is the best Indian food we have ever had from a restaurant. Eating this food is like traveling to India and eating at your grandmothers table (if she were Indian) without the long, expensive flights.

What are you waiting for? Come experience this phenomenal culinary experience!

Tried this place for the first time last night and we were not disappointed! Food was so incredibly fresh & flavourful, we can’t wait to order again! We are so happy to have an authentic Indian food option so close!

My Husband and I ordered take out for the first time from here tonight, I got the Butter Chicken and Nan Bread.it was AMMMAZING! So flavorful and best Nan Bread I have ever had! We will be back to dine in next time! The butter chicken was incredible and great serving size! Thank you!

Everything I ordered was delicious and flavourful. The different chutneys were a nice treat. A welcomed addition to Sackville.

Just finished my first meal at Royal King and it was most excellent! The food here has so much flavour. We will be back. It is so great having Indian food in Sackville. If you enjoy Indian cuisine, eat here.

Really a nice place with pure indian food and a lot non veg options. We will come back for more delicious taste.

Living in Mount Uniacke it's always been a trip to find decent Indian food, but on a Sunday drive my wife noticed this place at the location of the old Long Dragon takeout in Lower Sackville. We stopped and picked up an order and were very pleased with the quality of the food. Now no more half hour drives for indifferent quality Indian cuisine! Excellent service too.

Finally, a true authentic biryani in Halifax!

I expected prices to be lower considering the location but I’m happy to support a local, family-owned business.

First time eating here after being told it was good food. That's an understatement, the food was excellent! Although it was slow coming out of the kitchen, our server was great. I’m guessing they’re still working out the kinks. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

I have a very good experience there. The food is very delicious. Everyone should must visit this.

The food was lovely. Had some Pakora Chicken Tikka Masala some rice and different naans. Looking forward to trying more of the menu

I’ve never been a huge fan of Indian food but this is By far the best Buttered chicken I’ve ever had especially when paired with the Nan bread.

When I travelled to Sackville I noticed a new Indian restaurant started there I have a great experience with them by having my favourite butter naan and butter chicken, like Their name The Royal King, they are king at making dishes.

My wife and I decided to try this as she was a long time customer for the former establishment (Long Dragon). They just opened and I’m sure they will make improvements to their menu. Here’s what we took away from it.

Pros
- friendly attentive service
- clean and pleasant dining area
- large portions

Cons
- menu hard to read both online and on paper (poor resolution)

There have definitely been some nice updates to the interior - paint, light fixtures, artwork, etc.

We ordered Vegetarian Samosas to start. One order comes with two decent sized samosas with two sauces. They were fantastic. We appreciated the plating and sauce variety.

We had Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Vindaloo with a side of butter naan and Jerra rice. The portions were large and we had plenty left over. Very flavourful, perhaps on the spicier side for those who tend to prefer a mild spice but not unbearable.

We are both fans of Indian food so we went in with low expectations to avoid being disappointed. We left feeling satisfied and pleasantly surprised. Happy to have a good Indian restaurant close to home. We will certainly be regular customers moving forward.

Ambiance is good and food is yummy. But it’s too pricy, also the quantity is way less compared to other Indian restaurants in and around Halifax.

Our first meal at this restaurant was a real delight! Fresh and flavourful food with a great menu of vegetarian and non-veg options. We will be back again soon!
