The new pathway is wonderful, you stare at the open water as soon as you're on the board walk. However, for it being the middle of August and in the afternoon of multiple days with heat warnings, the was was ice cold. Don't get me wrong, I know that has nothing to do with the place itself, but when you wait until you know the Northumberland straight should be like bath water, especially with global warming, and it turns out your practicing cold therapy, Wim Holf style. It's rather disappointing.

Beautiful beach with lots of sand bars and beach space at lower tides. They have daytime picnic areas as well as changing houses and some bathrooms (drop toilet, not flush).

Water was nice and warm in September! Lots of picnic tables. No water tap to clean the salt water off your body though

Very beautiful. There is a path to stick to due to poison ivy but once you are through that the beach is so open and beautiful.

Very clean, accessible and the water is always the warmest in the province. It's been one of my favorites since childhood for a reason

Was to Rushton's recently.always a nice visit. BUT. Be Careful.the end of the board walk to the sand was off limits due to unsafe conditions.stairs only.no ramp.the Elements will have their way!

Some rocks are quite big and the bathrooms were extremely gross (I know there a certain amount that's it's gonna stink because it's an outhouse but it was really bad)

Beautiful beach! Lots of space and nice sandy area, tidal zone is HUGE so good for kids because you can walk out about 100 metered and still only be at your knees. Definitely love this beach

Could use a garbage on the beach but other than that it's an awesome place with a beautiful view

Our go to beach every time! We just love chilling at the beach and listening to the sound of the ocean and wind.

My family and I love this beach! It is the perfect beach for swimming. When the tide is in you do not have to walk far into the water to be able to take a dip and when the tide is out its perfect for kids. The sand is beautiful and there's not many rocks. Perfect sand for sand castle building! It also boasts an awesome picnic area before you get to the beach. I will say that it is quite a walk for anyone who may have mobility issues but the board walk is nice and the path is level enough for a wheelchair to make it over. At the end of the boardwalk there are only steps leading to the beach so please be prepared. If there was another walkway we did not see it.

Nice clean beach, good parking with a board walk right to the beach. Be careful of the poison ivy - read the signs! There is only stair access to the beach right now, but I'm sure the ramp will be open again soon? We were there on a hot day and it wasn't too bust.

Lots of parking. It is a lovely scenic walk to the beach. Lots of picnic tables and washrooms and changing rooms. The beach is gorgeous and when it is full tide you can walk out for a long distance without going over your head. Great for swimming or kayaking or sitting on the beach and catching some rays. Oh and the water is warm unlike the Bay of Fundy.

A little gem beautiful location just outside Tatamagouche towards Pictou. Rushton's beach is a great spot for a travelers picnic and swim. There is a small fresh water stream that flows into the ocean on the beach. Shallow warmer water at low tide. Amazing spot for watching tide come in and for sunsets! Beautiful wild flowers and wild birds in the reeds and grasses.

Lovely views! A beautiful spot. Very clean. We were sad that our "not as able people" were unable to make it to the boardwalk to get to the water. Worth the trip if you are able.

Really special place. Great warm water for swimming in the summer. Good ace to witness the size of the tides. Beautiful sand and a good place for sea treasures!

Great beach. Nice and warm. Just be prepared for a good walk from the parking lot to the beach.

Overall, it was a good experience and a fun day. One of the major positive parts of the beach was the warm water. I was quite surprised with how pleasant it was. Also, the beach was busy but it didn't feel that way. Everyone was evenly spread and respectful. A few things to consider include the parking, the walk, and the beach itself. The parking lot is a bit difficult because there are no designated spots and there was a lot of wasted space that could've been used for other families trying to visit. The next thing was the journey to the beach. It was a bit difficult to figure out where to go and it was a decently long walk to the beach. Lastly, the beach is very rocky and the shoreline is difficult to walk on with bare feet. I recommend getting wet shoes or waiting until the tide is lower revealing more sandy parts to swim and wade.

Me favorite beach in Nova Scotia. Great fun for the whole family. Beautiful scenery, warmer waters, and even some sea creatures to entertain you if the tide is out!

Amazing low tide beach.walked forever along the ocean floor.and could have walked further.absolutely beautiful spot.very long walk from parking to the beach.

Beautiful beach and the water is so warm! Short walk from parking area to the beach along the boardwalk. But if you are going there to swim, you MUST check the tide. It's only really swimmable at high tide, giving about a 4 hour window. Otherwise you'll be walking a Km out just for the water to be up to your knees. Noticed other beaches in the area were similar.

The water was the perfect temperature and wasn't too rocky. Zero admission cost like some of the provincial parks in Nova Scotia. Beach was nice and sandy. Only minor drawback was some seagrass, which wasn't that big of a deal.

Loved this beach. A bit of a walk on the boardwalk to get to the beach. Water was warm and awesome. Large beach. Lots of room to spread out!

You wouldn't believe a beach in Canada would have warm waters.this one does! My goodness this beach has beautiful, clean and WARM water. It's also shallow, so you are able to walk far into the water and it still be up to your knees. This will now be our go to beach when we visit.

Boardwalk down to the beach, the water is fairly shallow and warm. Popular with families in the area.

Beautiful beach but sadly, did not find any sea glass as I had hope I would. Very long walk from the car to the beach and tons of poison I've along the way so be aware of that!

The most BEAUTIFUL beach I have ever been to in my life. Topped Port Elgin, Wales, and Hawaii.the calm, the mixture of different ecosystems, the temperature of the water.all of it combined made it unreal. I cant wait to visit again next time I am on the east coast!
25 September 2019 17:21
Lovely sandy beach, warm water, and all you could hope for from a beach. But a word of warning. Only visit this beach when the wind is blowing. Otherwise the horseflies make this lovely beach uninhabitable. Too bad but there it is.

Its a nice warm water sandy beach with changing rooms, out house's, and picnic tables just off of the beach. Highly recommended checking it out if you want a beach day.

Great beach to go to with the kids - or without! Big sandbar, lots of sandy beach. Even when it's busy there is tons of space. Water is always so nice!
Definitely my go to.

Beautiful beach approximately 15 minutes east of Tatamagouche. Lots of parking, nice walk along a boardwalk that leads up to the beach. Although narrow, the sand is nice and seemed quite clean and well kept. Don't let the cool coastal breeze fool you! Lather up!

Beach is beautiful. Water is excellent. Unfortunately, it's a walk to get there from the parking lot, so be prepared for a trek on the boardwalk. There is also a nice little stream that runs out near the boardwalk steps. It's great to float down when the tide is going out.
