Silver Dart Lodge

Spacious room, very clean, everything was stocked. We had a comfortable and quiet, perfect & relaxing stay! We loved every minute and will definitely go back! I would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family. ” Staff was absolutely amazing from being friendly, polite and asking if we need anything for our 3 night stay. Can’t wait to go back one day.

People very friendly! Beautiful views, close to baddeck town. Easy walk. Room little older but cute.

Rooms are pretty sad. Desperately need a refresh. Bedding was scruffy! I woke up to bite marks and there were small flies in the room. Carpet was musty. Ac was crazy loud. Please update specially for the price. Views are good. Service is decent. Location is good too, close to town but you gotta drive unless you are up for a walk along the highway.

Comfy beds and great customer service. Wonderful recommendation for Baddeck Gathering Ceilidh's (say it like Kay-lee) live music. It was a 15 min walk there and back. Lots of other folks doing the same.

Enjoyed our stay at Silver Dart Lodge. Clean rooms and nice staff. The breakfast buffet was excellent but the dinner buffet was average. Overall great experience though!

We had a room in the main lodge. The room was spacious with access to an outside balcony for a view of the lake.

The bathroom provided soaps and shampoos, as well as a hair dryer. We had a mini fridge as well.
The décor was dated, but we still enjoyed our room.

Breakfast was not included, but there's some nice gems in Baddeck (The High Wheeler for one!).

This lodge was much nicer than I expected. Front desk folks were always welcoming and lovely. My room was large, clean and the beds were very comfortable. Nice view of the lake for dinner. No complaints here!

Great view from room 32. Comfortable room for a reasonable price, but I don't recommend the breakfast buffet.

We were here with a tour group and had the buffet dinner and breakfast options. This is a large property with lots of buildings and lots of pieces to manage. The rooms were clean and big enough, the food and service good, but the furniture and carpets are outdated and there is a problem with the dampness and musty smells in the rooms. The bar area is inviting with great views and the dining area is nice as well. I would have to give a B- to C+ in the present state.

Chalet room 202
Fabulous self contained unit with small kitchenette, bathroom, 2 queen beds, dining room table and chairs. Comfortable easy chair with overhead lamp. Sliding glass door to covered patio with Adirondack chairs. Picnic table in expansive lawn in front of the chalet. Amazing view of the lake. Black out curtains.
Private parking exclusive to the chalet.

Lovely place to spend a night. Wish I could stay longer. Dinner was excellent. Staff are super friendly.

Very nice location with lake view. Unfortunately the carpet in the room smells moldy and is overdue to replace. In my opinion this could be a jewel with some good ideas and some investements.

Our room is too small, the carpet is dirty and full of stains, and the bathtub is very slow to drain the water while taking a shower, we called maintenance and was told that its a sewer problem and that as long as it drains after a while it is fine. But imagine showering, and the water is up to the ankle and soapy, probably not the hotel fault due to flooding in the city, but still, the overall room needs serious maintenance, too.

I had a wonderful experience at the Silverdart. The staff are so nice and welcoming and the view is amazing serene and peaceful view from all the directions.

So, please teach your staff that if a person only has one bite of a meal and then stops, because it's terrible, that that needs to be addressed.
Don't serve me a sobeys frozen burger patty for $25 and dress it up nice.you had 2 dressed as a 6. I'd make that frozen patty better on a BBQ ffs.

We stayed here in one of the chalet here during our road trip for two nights. The chalet is decent, clean with good facilities. The location of this place is amazing. It's a great place to enjoy early morning coffee in the back porch looking at the bay. Definitely will stay here again next year for the trip. Out of 7 places we stayed during our trip, this had the most character and enjoyable. When I asked my family what was the one destination they want to go back to, this was in top two

This is one of the worst hotels we have stayed for our Maritime tour. If I could give 0 stars for this place, I would have.

We were welcome by Donna (staff) and there's nothing welcoming about it. She hurriedly talks about the hotel info but it's more of a mundane task for her instead of being an enjoyable part of her job.

Downsides:
Accommodation
-We were placed in a room that is dated, dingy and smells moldy/musty.
-Floors have several stains in them (see pic) and the carpeted floors were uneven and makes squeaking/creaking noises when you walk on it.
-We were informed that we have a waterfront view which is partly true. When you're in the lower level rooms, your view will be obstructed by trees /shrubs so it is very unlikely you will see a full view of the Bras d'Or Lake.
-Outlet plugs were limited and situated in very hard to reach places. If you didn't bring a power bank, your electronic devices will be nowhere close to you.
-Washroom is very small and taking a shower is very unpleasant since it's slower to drain and basically you're standing in water.

Dining
-Place is very remote, not a lot of places to dine and no shops close by. It will take you more than 20 mins to walk to the nearest restaurant and 5 to 10 mins by car.
-That left you with no choice but to dine in their restaurant called McCurdy Dining Room that has limited choice of menus. Food is mediocre and very expensive for a rural place.
Seafood chowder is watered down, not a lot of seafood in it and a little bit spicy. Their Seafood Pasta is bland and has more noodles than sauce/seafood. Same goes with their Chicken Parmesan Pasta.
You also have to wait for a long time for your food as they're understaffed and trying to accommodate more customers that they can handle.
-Breakfast was included when we booked our room. It's a buffet style and you get the basic breakfast of eggs, sausage, toast, etc.

Upside:
Nothing good about this hotel and wouldn't even recommend this to my worst enemy!

Property has a great location for touring the area. Although the property is showing its age, rooms are functional (mini fridge, Keurig, no M/W) and exceptionally clean. Comfy beds. Stay in one of the lodges or chalets. Avoid the Loft Room in the MacNeil house! Room was quirky. Could see that it had been well cleaned, but could not get over the dated and worn out furnishings, the damp, and the musty smell. Would stay again, but not in the MacNeil house rooms.

Yes hotel room is good.
Ate at their restaurant turned out to be disaster. Arrived late at 8: 10 pm. Food was sooooo disappointing. Chowder is water down and not hot like we have the last bowl from their pot so they just add water. My seafood pasta dish bowl was drowned in 1 inch of water. Terrible. I wondered if chef left kitchen early and a waiter may wipe up the meal. No manager came out to apologize. Only the waiter apologized and no charge rightfully so.

Silver Dart Lodge took me back to my childhood. We arrived to this beautiful property after a couple of days on the Cabot trail. We chose the location of Baddeck as it was close to other activities we had planned. The property is devided into several buildings, we stayed in the west side building you park at your door and the back looks out onto the Bras d'Or lake, best part is you can walk out onto your deck with lawn chairs and a large grass area with chairs and a wooden lookout platform (great place to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening). Our room was extremely clean, beds very comfortable, amenities were plentiful. The first morning we went for breakfast in the restaurant. Our server (I wish I remembered her name) was a delight. She is a local woman who loves what she does and it shows. She made over the kids and took time to have a conversation with us about our travels. At check in the young woman at check in (again sorry I didnt get your name) was quick, welcoming and very effecient with grounds information. When we returned after our first day touring we found our room was refeshed very well and it was the icing on the cake. The pool area was closed and seemed to be under a renovation, throughout the property it appeared renvations and improvements are being made continously. Excellent couple of days at Silver Dart Lodge!

Really great spot with amazing views. The staff were super-friendly and the breakfast was very tasty. The room was a little outdated but very clean and comfortable. Would recommend.

One of the top rated lodge in town. Close to the town centre, has it’s own restaurant. Would recommend for its reasonable price and good service!
