Smitty's Family Restaurant - Halifax Lacewood

Was seated right away but waited over 10 minutes and Noone ever came to the table to offer a drink or take our order so we just left. Used to go to the Smittys on Cathedral twice a week but unfortunately won't be returning since the one on Lacewood was such a terrible experience. It wasn't busy, it wasn't rush hour. Ridiculous.

Our server, Jessica, went absolutely above and beyond for us! She is wonderful at her job, tremendous customer service and extremely fun, positive and delightful!

We live out of town in Moncton, but visit Halifax monthly or more, we'll definitely be back and hope to have Jessica brighten our day once again! Thank you Jessica

My fiance and I came in just after the lunch rush, for a quick bite to eat before heading back to our hotel. We were greeted by Jessica who served us, She was super friendly, funny and very efficient! She packed us up our left overs with all the fixings we would need for later as she actually engaged in conversation with us and knew we were staying at a hotel.

As a server myself, I really appreciate good service, in my eyes this is how all guests should be treated! I wish more servers were like Jess. She did a few things to make our quick lunch a good one. Good servers are hard to come by.

Just called to book my daughter's B-day party.lol.they cannot take reservations for a weekend, and I was told if I show up with my guests they may not be able to seat us, hence the word"reservation. I can call the day of, and if the party room is available or it's not too busy then we could go in. They can accommodate on weekdays but not on a weekend, like what? Lol. Too bad.lost business to another establishment.: (

I am very unhappy with my recent experience at Smitty’s. This was unexpected as I have enjoyed Smitty’s for breakfast/brunch with my family for many years. Recently, I took my son to breakfast for his birthday only to find out that the free birthday meal would not be provided without having downloaded the Smitty’s app beforehand. When I explained that I do not download such apps on my phone as I use it for basic functions (calls/text) only, I was advised that no exceptions would be made. This change in process is so disappointing and unfair given the fact there are people who may not utilize phones and therefore are disqualified. Besides this disappointment, the food quality has worsened. The french toast was prepared with thin slices of white bread rather than something restaurant quality like brioche, challah, etc. Also, the service was slow and unfriendly. I realize Smitty’s is not a Michelin star restaurant but still, for the price paid, the quality and service should be better.

I had the pleasure of dining at Smitty's Family Restaurant recently, and I can't say enough about the wonderful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff was incredibly attentive and made me feel right at home.

The menu offered a great variety of options, and the food was absolutely delicious. I tried the breakfast special, and it was cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were very reasonable, offering excellent value for the quality of the food.

The restaurant was spotlessly clean, and the ambiance was cozy and inviting. It's a perfect place for a family meal or a casual get-together with friends.

I can't recommend Smitty's Family Restaurant enough. It's a fantastic spot for a delicious meal and top-notch service. I will definitely be returning for more delightful dining experiences in the future!

It's not a fancy place, but you always know you're going to get great food and friendly service from the staff.

It's usually busy for weekend brunch, but not bad outside of those times.

The Staff are friendly and helpful. Service was great too and no issues with the food which my kids love especially my son chose Smitty's for his birthday which is why we went. He loves the all day breakfast.
However the restaurant is in desperate need of repair/renovations. The flooring is so worn down my shoes were literally sticking to it with every step. The decor and furniture is clearly very old and hasn't been replaced or updated in a very long time. The bathrooms were quite honestly gross. We used to frequent this location before COVID but the lack of attention to repair or upgrades is beyond the point that I can overlook it. Really hope they do some updates soon or we may not be going back unfortunately.

Had a great waiter today. Don't know his name because he didn't wear a name tag. Exceptional service, friendly and got everything right!

Smitty’s is another classic example of what used to be a non-flashy very good and solid affordable breakfast place that is cutting every corner possible to the point where the portions are so small, the quality is so bad, and the prices are comparable or higher than some of the higher end/popular breakfast spots in the city. The breakfast we had today was awful, small, and cold. Service was amazing but for $17+ tax a meal you expect something at least a step above a free hotel buffet. My advice? Avoid and seek out somewhere like Armview, Ardmore, The Mic Mac, or even Pur and Simple. It’ll cost the same or less.

Very impressive customer service and food was very good, highly recommend the shredded potatoes with breakfast.

The girls that seated us and served us were great, very pleasant, however the food was absolutely terrible, everything looked and tasted like it sat under a warmer for quite a while, the cheese on mine was melted and resolidified it sat so long and my partner's hollandaise sauce was super thick and had the same appearance as the cheese.

Love this restaurant its been a family favorite for years. However today after being there (Aug 26,2023) I was not very impressed with the cleanliness. The carpet was completely grease stained and sticky from the staff going in and out of the kitchen area. It's as if the carpets have not been deep cleaned in years. Please for the sake of the business replace the carpet I think its past the point of deep cleaning.

Cozy, super convenient location in Bayers Lake just off the highway, right across from Future Inn beside Home Depot, and handy to all the Bayers Lake shopping. Consistent Smitty's quality and very friendly servers!

The service was poor and the quality of the food wasn't very good. There was a long wait for the food to arrive at the table, and when it did, it was barely warm. Our dining experience definitely wasn't worth the expense.

Food was cold. Waiter did not ask if I wanted cinnamon raisin toast when I ordered gluten free. There was no bottled water available.

This is the first time in years that I have eaten here. The food quality has sure gone down hill. Small portions as well compared to what they used to serve. It is also too expensive. $50 for breakfast for 2

Service was a little slow, it took around 20 minutes for food arrive, it seems they were busier than usual. Coffee price isn’t cheap either. Other than that, food was great! I recommend it!

Lovely place to eat with family or alone if you are into eating pork and ham. Not an ideal place if you are a Muslim, Jewish or a person who does not eat swine. Waitress are very friendly and gave information that hash Brown were fried in the same pan as pork and bacon and that I should order gradedhash brown instead. I will stay with Pur and Simple. Learned my lesson and never visit Smitty's again. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
