Spryfield Animal Hospital

It was my first exp[erince with the Spryfield Animal Hospital this week with my elderly pug. I was extremely impressed with the compasion, care and time spent discussing treatment options.

I had a positive experience taking my pup to this client recently. They got me in the quickest of any of the other clinics in the HRM that I contacted. I would recommend to others.

Was very impressed by how caring and knowledgeable the vet was and so gentle! I couldn't have been more pleased with the care my sweet kitty received.

We have adopted several dogs over the past 30 years. Spryfield Animal Hospital has cared for every one of them. It has always been evident that the veterinarians and staff take their work to. Thank you!

Came in with my pup when he was injured and my regular vet was booked full. They were friendly, professional, and took excellent care of my dog.

We were given Bravecto for tick prevention. It is applied topically to the back of the neck. We were told it was safe for cats. No warnings. After we applied it, the cat was highly disturbed and raced around the house. His behaviour totally changed. Became very distrustful and fearful. This altered behaviour persisted for days. The area on the neck was clearly very itchy and he tried repeatedly to scratch it. The area remains sticky and he has now developed a bald area. It is still worrying him a week later.
In addition, we were sold a large bag of Hill’s dental care chews which he rejected from the start.
While we recognize this may be an infrequent occurrence, we were totally unprepared.

Amazing Staff and the Vet really knows the dogs, they are very detailed and take plenty of time to examine and make sure that we are cleared of any doubts.

This animal clinic makes you feel like you are at home and that your pet is cared for. The cost of vet appointment are very reasonable.

They were able to take my cat in on short notice and were extremely friendly and professional. The vet tech and doctor made sure to keep me informed and were as gentle as possible with my cat. The office staff were friendly and efficient. All in all as nice an experience as could be hoped for.

This is the best vet I have been to and plan to stick with them as long as I’m in the HRM. Jordan Mencher is my cat’s vet and he is very knowledgeable, practical and pleasant. I really appreciate that everyone at this vet listens to your concerns and offers different care options along with the price. They allow you to make decisions for your pet rather than try to push services on you (which I have experienced at other vets). Everyone in this office has always been very pleasant to deal with and it saddens me to see how frequently they send out reminders to treat their staff nicely. I know emotions can run high at a vet but it is no excuse to be cruel to those doing their best to help. I only recommend this vet if you will treat the staff well because they deserve nothing less.

The vets are great but the staff and management are absolutely terrible. It took over a year to get an appointment for vaccinations because every time we had an appointment coming up, the clinic called saying they had to cancel and reschedule (for different reasons each time). This occurred three times before they finally kept our appointment. The clinic also moved an appointment I had booked to another date and time without notifying me and I even received a reminder text for the original date and time. I only found out when I showed up for the appointment and was told they had no record of it, which is odd given that I received a text reminder about it from them. It is a shame that such good vets work under such poor management. I will be transferring the care of my animals to another clinic that will actually keep booked appointments.

We brought our kitten in for lack of appetite and lethargy. The vet said his lungs and heart sound good. The next day, not even 18 hours later our kitten started coughing up blood and we took him to 4paws. They did an xray and found that his lungs are in terrible condition. They said "his lungs look like an old cat with bronchitis".

I don't trust this vet.

We had our kitten in to get spayed today. The staff at Spryfield Animal Hospital were amazing! Thank you for taking care of blueberry and going above and beyond to accommodate our mistake.

Front counter people are not compassionate at all I want to bring my cat in because she has worms and she’s sick and they told me the best bet is the end of October which is over a month and a half from now and when I said well that’s a sin what can I do because she has worms and I don’t want to be sick for that long they said well just tried calling hung up

She wouldn’t offer me a cancellation she wouldn’t try to pencil me in she just didn’t care and hung up not very cool when you think these people are dealing with animals
I would not recommend very rude

We lost our fur baby the other day so today I called to see if they would take back unopened medication since we don't need it anymore and insulin and needles are not cheap. Nope would not do it. No compassion at all

Staff and Vets are very caring and professional. They make sure I have all of the information I need to make informed decisions about my pet’s treatment. Dr Desveaux is the best! She truly cares about my puppy and goes the extra mile to make sure my puppy is well-cared for. Staff are all kind and professional. I highly recommend Spryfield Animal Hospital.

The staff is kind and friendly. Dr Mencher always remembers us and our Golden. We would not go anywhere else.

I've been taking my pet to this vet for years.this was his animal hospital he was young he got his needles there and had surgery to be neutered.as he got older he had rapid weight loss, became lethargic and I called the vet, his vet.explain the whole situation and they gave me an appointment for the following week.they said if it was an emergency to call 4 paws.the lady who answered the phone and that I spoke to had the compassion and understanding of a water jug.the best thing I did was call four paws they got frisky in right away, examined him and unfortunately we had to make a choice that I already knew had to happen.when frisky needed his vet the most, they abandoned him.getting him in next week was just not humane or the right thing to do. I will never return to this animal hospital and advise anyone who loves their pets and best friends not to go here.thank you so much for 4 paws for knowing that our pets are very important and their health and well-being is number one.shame on you spryfield animal hospital.you have lost me as one of your customers and I will never take a pet that I love anywhere near your animal hospital.shame on you

When my kitty unexpectedly started not breathing very well they fit me in for an appointment the same day and were so kind and friendly and made him feel so comfy there thank you to this team for helping us so quickly and kindly:)

Not a great front staff. Tone and way they talk to you isn't welcoming and they feel like they don't want to deal with you. Vet techs are much nicer though.

Spryfield Animal hospital did a great job helping with our 2 pups who had a run in with a porcupine. Super accommodating on an early morning emergency call and the pups were very well cared for. They did a next day follow up and their prices were reasonable for the work done. We will be back!

Couldn’t get a timely appointment for my pup with an ear infection. This clinic got me in on a cancellation and fixed us right up! Very friendly and provided great care. Frankie feels much better.

I can’t say enough good things about this practice. I have a 4-year-old, very nervous and reactive cattle dog. As such, she needs to take things slowly and requires some patience to get through her annual vet exam and vaccinations. Both the vet tech (I didn’t catch their name) and Dr. Desveaux were absolutely amazing with her tonight - by the end of our visit, she was happy and wiggling and taking treats from everyone, which is a huge deal for her! They accommodated us completely - from making sure other dogs and people kept a respectful distance from us, to turning off a vacuum that was being run in another room because they knew she was afraid of it. We drive from Cole Harbour to go to this vet because we know we will be well taken care of. Thank you, Spryfield Animal Hospital!

I have been taking Flynn, my 10 month old GSP here since I brought him home and never had a bad experience.

Due to the pandemic they limit the number of appointments and will recommend reaching out to other vets if they cannot get my pup in (and it's not an emergency of course).

On one of these instances I had to take Flynn to a different vet for an eye concern. He had a really terrible experience and I was convinced he would be traumatized of the vet for a long time.

The next time I took Flynn to Spryfield Animal Hospital I warned the vet and techs that I wasn't sure how he would react to being assessed now. They were so lovely with him and did everything to make him feel comfortable, he was a perfect angel with them.

They are a "Fear Free Vet', and they prove every time I come in how much they love Flynn and care about their 4 legged patients.

Thank you guys for always being so sweet to Flynn!

We just rescued our second rescue from Texas. They we so helpful, friendly, inviting and very informative, I was not rushed out and they we able to answer evey quesiton I had about my new Furr baby. I was soo happy that I actualy transferred my other dog's files over to the Spryfield Animal Hospital! And now both of my Furr babies Chiquita and Cleo will go to this Clinic! I have had no issues, they treat and take care of my dog. My dog enjoys going to the vet. I take him there regularly to say hello and to weigh him. Everyone that works there is very nice.

After some research I got a great recommendation from someone to try this clinic for our family pet. Honestly, Dr. Mencher is the best vet we have worked with. He takes the time to go over things with you, and always wants to find the best solution for your furry (or not so furry) family member. Even the team at the Spryfield Animal Hospital are all so professional, patient and considerate, making it clear when you have to bring your pet in. Some clinics just want an easy buck, so they tell you to come in, but Spryfield Animal Hospital is not like that. They run through symptoms, and all the necessary units to measure your pets health, then only do they ask you to come in.

VERY DISAPPOINTING AND OVERPRICED… I almost never write reviews because as a previous business owner I sympathize with service providers. We have been client with three pets for over two years and on average we pay annually 1500+ between medications, bloodwork, check ups etc. The price of medication almost doubled recently for no obvious reason. I was picking up my cats meds 3x$80 and said I will take one now (as we requested on the phone) since his blood work is scheduled for two days later. One was for $40 ($20 dispensing fees!) I asked if his blood work will require to continue on same meds can I pick the remaining two up they said no you will have to pay dispensing fees again even thu they already there and they will go back on the shelve as is.when I asked why they blamed it on how their system works and process payment … absolute joke! I don’t recommend stay away and find a different vet save ur selves the headache

The veterinarians and vet techs are wonderful here…they are compassionate to you and your pet! They are thoughtful and kind, clearly love their careers and your concerns for your pet…. But you have to get past the front desk people…

On many occasions, they have been outwardly rude, condescending and blatantly bothered to deal with clients
One specific longer hair blonde gal really does not speak clearly, shows in her voice on the phone and in person that she does not want to be there or talk to you, is frustrated when you ask a question- basically makes you feel difficult over any small thing.

She is Not pleasant to deal with under any stressful situations. She clearly does not like her career and should not be in one that deals with the public.
Other front desk staff have been wonderful and kind and open and interact with The animals and are excited you’re there, eager to help.
The clinic is great otherwise! It would be perfect if that sort of staff was not greeting you on the phone or in person anymore though.

She is just putrid.

I got my kitten Butters at 8 weeks old, staff have been very informative, helpful and comprehensive about any treatments and care needed. This was especially important considering I took this cat in from a family's litter, and was uneducated about required vaccinations and treatments. I"ll definitely be returning to this location.
