Starboard Inn

Starboard Inn is a mixed bag. Rooms are nice enough with the ones I saw being recently renovated. However, cable TV is not guaranteed: some rooms have it while others do not. Floors, while new, are laminate and not carpeted, so noise can be a bit of an issue. However, the inn was fairly quiet overall during my stay.

That said, the "lounge" hours are weird to say the least, closing at 2 pm. And while the front desk staff were friendly (even though the front door is also only unlocked til 2 pm), an issue with internet wasn't handled in the best way. The inn resides in an area with less than stellar cellular reception, so wifi is a must for those who need to get online during their stay. Unfortunately, the wifi was not working properly during my visit. Twice during the stay, staff members said a discount should be given to compensate for the lack of internet availability (tried to connect with two different phones and my laptop), but management didn't see it that way. Instead, the manager stated, "My staff was able to get on the network and I didn't have any complaints from other guests. " No apology, just an excuse. Paid full price in the end.

Even though I travel through the area regularly and Starboard Inn seemed to have a lot of promise as a reliable place to stay during my work travels, I will not be returning.

Chalet was very nice and clean. Had breakfast in the lounge and it wasn't worth what we paid for it.

Best breakfast of my life! The lobster benedict is literally life changing. I'll never eat anything that is as perfect again, no joke.

Breanna was super quick on the coffee refills while being friendly and efficient. The entire experience from seating to leaving was super fast, all around a great place for a great meal.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would, I stayed here for 8 weeks for work and being away from home was hard but the staff at the starboard inn made me feel at home, great people, great food and awesome accommodations

From the moment I called to ask for a few balloons to be put into the to the moment we checked out everything was great! When we arrived to check in the person (Jana) let me know there was balloons plus a little something extra in the freezer (ice cream cake) the room was very very clean, the bathroom was super nice the beds were great and the lighting was the best I have seen in any hotel/motel room. The food was great and price for room and food was very reasonable. I would recommend to stay there!

Friendly and welcoming staff. Nice lounge that offers great breakfast options- must try the lobster Benedict. Newly renovated; effort and hometown pride are evident in all aspects of their business. Highly recommend staying here.

We stayed in one of the chalets. Quite newly built, clean and modern. Kitchenette was well-equipped, no oven but multi-burner stovetop, small (but not mini) fridge with freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle. Basic dishes and cookware/utensils. BBQ outside is shared between chalet guests. Both double beds were in the same small bedroom. I thought the chalet had 2 bedrooms. We ended up not needing the second bedroom or bed so it didn't impact us, but I’m glad we didn’t show up with other people expecting a second bedroom. Weird policy of requiring guests to wash their own dishes and tie their own garbage bag tops or face a $100 fine for either of those infractions. The dishes I took out of the cupboard when I arrived needed to be washed (I’m not overly picky, but there was melted cheese hardened on them) so I’m not sure this policy is working well for everyone. Requiring me to pull out and tie up the garbage bags seems a bit ludicrous. Location is excellent and central in Barrington. On-site lounge has an open kitchen until 10pm and also serves a well-priced breakfast menu that seemed to be really popular with folks around town in general. Other than the couple small (and fairly insignificant overall) oddities, it was a good stay and I’d book here again.

The Starboard in was very clean and had everything I would have needed, including pots, pans, dishes and utensils. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to my late arrival and early departure. Highly recommend booking at the Starboard Inn and I will be returning for future stays!

The room was very clean. Can't really assess the service being that there was no one on site, we called a number posted on the door and they provided us a code to get in the door. So contactless visit is probably a good thing during the pandemic.

The chalet was perfect size for two of us and good value. Several lovely upgrades - coffee table that converts to desk, rainfall shower head, Netflix on bedroom tv. Centrally located. The only improvement I would recommend are the beds - you had so many other great amenities and upgrades but the beds did not meet the same expectations, very hard and stiff, easily rolled on the slick floor, no headboard so pillows were always slipping down the crack and barely any space between the 2 beds. A good quality Serta sleeper set or similar to The Westin’s heavenly bed series would go a long way to improving the rating and improving the stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the Starboard Inn & Chalets. It was a bit confusing when we arrived to locate office (Canada Select sign was on the old school house at the start of the property). However, with the assistance of another guest we found the office in another building further up on the property. Check-in via phone was easy and quick. We rented the upper floor of a chalet for 3 adults. It was newer, nicely decorated, clean, beds were comfy, and contains everything a family would need for a vacation stay. We did find the placement of the microwave on the lowest shelf of the bottom cupboard a bit out of place. Erin was quick to respond to an email question I had during our stay. Overall we were pleased with our stay and would choose to stay again in the future.
