My best car buying experience - and I’ve bought a lot of cars.

From my initial point of contact with manager, Darren Shaw, who was pleasant & personable, through a fun and casual sales experience with Michael Abrams my wife and I enjoyed ourselves. Even when it came time to finalizing the details of the deal, Ahmad Hasan was efficient and personable.

Bought a used F-150 from the boys over at Steele today and I must say, from start to finish was a true five star experience. Prompt reply, showing what the truck was exactly (pros and cons), and accommodating my schedule to a T. The manage there is Darren and let me tell you, the guy is driven to give you his absolute best deal and have you apart of their Steele family. He made sure to pull out every stop and pull every penny out of the deal so that we can find a common ground and get me in the exact truck I had wanted.

Between Darren and my salesman Mike, they made the decision a no brainer to commute 4 hours one way to get in the truck from them. I could go on for days about this buying experience but if you are having any hesitation about buying from this crowd, don’t, you will not regret your decision in supporting them as they will support you!

Really unhappy with the communication. I called to book an appointment to have the MVI done and the tail light fixed. Appointment was booked. When I arrived there I was told they don’t have the tail light because it needs to be ordered in and I should have called parts. When I asked why the person on the phone didn’t tell me, I was told she wouldn’t have know cause she is responsible only for bookings and is not on site (then how should I have know and why doesn’t the person in bookings know to redirect to Parts?). I couldn’t get the MVi sticker either without the tail light fixed. I have an infant at home and told them that it is very difficult to make these appointments They assured me once the part is in ‘it will take only 45 minutes’. I went back for another appointment the next week, when I was told it will take ‘a couple of hours’ and it’s 45 minutes from when the technician starts working on it. When I asked why the technician doesn’t start working at the time the appointment was made I was told ‘because he is working on other cars’ - so technicians are double and triple booked? It ended up taking a couple hours which was an issue for child care.

Edit for last visit ending Aug 30,2022: We dropped off our car on Wednesday for a Thursday appointment, parts were ordered and should have arrived Friday, but didn't arrive until Monday. Work was unable to be started Monday, so was started and completed Tuesday. We had to chase Ford every step of the way to find out what was up with our car on Friday, to verify we'd get the car back for the weekend, then again Monday a couple times to see that they received the parts and whether work had started, then again that the work had not started and car would not be completed until Tuesday, and again on Tuesday to verify that we'd be able to pick up our car. When we went in to pick up our car and pay, there was an extra charge for 119.95 + taxes. The charge was reversed the following day, so no complaints there, but communication could be more forthcoming from Ford itself rather than leaving it up to the customer to chase for status updates. Also, the online vehicle status only updates when the car is physically in a service bay, so while waiting for parts there is no current status let alone an update on the vehicle or an indication that it is even in the system.

Got a flat tire on a road trip out east; called Steele Lincoln Ford. The team provided a Quick response to an emergency repair; kept me up to date through timely updates, and it was much more affordable than I expected.

Tom has always shown his willing to help. Excellent relations. Always go to him. Last time Explorer was in for service it included a water leak in the spare tire area. Leaks were found in roof rack rails and were repaired. In addition another leak was found which requires repair at the body shop. An appointment has been made for Aug. 15/22 at Steele Collision Centre to repair and check for any other water leaks. Grant

We were travelling and had a car issue that was creating a lot of stress during our trip. We arrived in Halifax with just a few days to fix our problem and continue on our way. Steele Ford really went the extra mile to get us back on the road again. We really appreciated the quick and friendly service

Couldn't be happier! The service team is amazing and Sarah especially. 6 days before a cross continental drive and an oil change place tells me my Escape has an oil leak. I called around to see about repairs and everyone told me I would have to wait about 10 days for service. Steele said they didn't have any appointments open but bring it in first thing Monday and they would try to fit me in. Dropped off just after 8am had it back fixed and serviced by 1: 30pm! The leak was a loose oil filter (phew) and I authorised a few extra items too. Again, very happy. I wish I lived here, I would always use Steele!

Everything is thoroughly explained. This is the first service station that sends you the video of the issues they found. Top class and very transparent. Keep up the great work guys. The only downside is they are a bit pricy - $120 + tax just to get them to look into something. Fixing the fault is extra.

Overall good experiences. Service is good and has been done with my vehicle pleasantly quickly. Service staff like Sarah have been helpful and informative. Sales staff like Steve have also been helpful when I've had any problems with my Escape hybrid, would recommend.

Had my spring tune-up and winter/summer tire change last week. Ordered new tires from a local tire retailer and they were late showing up, forcing a mad last-minute dash to my dealership, Steele Ford and arriving late for my appointment. My Service Advisor, the amazing Sarah Murphy, did everything in her power to juggle appointments to fit me in and got my vehicle done just in time for me to make an important out of town meeting. So grateful to Sarah and the outstanding service team at Steele for getting me in and getting me on my way in a real crunch. Thanks guys.

This appointment was a return appointment to get the rain sensing wipers fixed, these would be the same rain sensing wipers we have been telling them did not work for a year and yet now there is a recall. I received a phone call after I gave them a low rating last time because the rain sensing wipers were supposed to be repaired and were not and I explained to them that this was a work truck, this was how my husband moved around his tools and his supplies to do his work. We could not have this truck off the road needlessly and since the rain sensing wipers was not one of our maintenance issues, like an oil change, we felt they should give us a loaner car. We were promised a rental SUV on said morning. My husband arrives at 8 o’clock and at about 10 o’clock my husband finally leaves to go down to McDonald’s and still does not have a rental car and he’s going into lower sugar because he was there for two hours waiting to get the rental car and had not eaten and he is diabetic. The reason we needed the rental car was that we were told that this job would take a full day. Surprisingly within an hour they call my husband and tell him the truck is repaired and ready to go. Also a couple of days before we brought the vehicle in for this repair we received another recall notice about the tailgate. Since our tailgate had fallen open a couple of months ago, we blamed it on ourselves thinking maybe we had left it open and couldn’t understand how, I had phoned and asked if this could be repaired at the same time. This repair was not done at that time so we have had to book yet another appointment to have this looked at. I am the most unhappy customer right now after having had the same vehicle for 11 years. I want my old vehicle back.

I'm from Ontario visiting Nova Scotia and decided to have our Ford Edge serviced at Steele Ford and Lincoln situated at Windsor Street in Halifax. The whole serviced experience was awesome and unbelievable right from the get go (stating the required service, updates through out the process, and the delivery of the vehicle. Our service advisor was Logan and she was definitely helpful, very informative, and professional.
Definitely will be back with them for service each time we visit Nova Scotia.

I had an issue with my vehicle and when Lynn the service manager stepped in to assist, she made my experience much better. She really value and care about her customers, but cannot say the same about the GM at Steele Ford. If you have an issue make sure you stop and see Lynn first, she went above and beyond to make sure my issue with my vehicle was solved. Her Staff Ashley was also wonderful to communicate the proper information to the manager and technician involved. Excellent work at Steele Ford Service department

Would like to share my experience one month ago. The first service of my explorer at your workshop on March 10,2021 when my car was still under 3-year warranty and no mechanic told me about the issue of rear upper control arm bushings, everything was ok. I was told about this problem when I came to MVI for inspection on July 14, which the date has just passed warranty a couple of days. I don't think the problem happened suddenly, there should have been a process, there should have been some clues in March, so why wasn't I told about it during the warranty period and after 4 months later I need to pay a repair bill for this? I will try another mechanic to check it.

It was a pleasure to work with Steele Ford for the lease of my vehicle. The Sales staff was extremely friendly, took the time to ensure I understood the vehicle options, and was extremely transparent with their pricing. I have dealt with many dealerships in my 45 years and usually I’m not a fan of salesmen and the bullies that back them up, they’re usually fake with their “used car sales” act they put on, BUT…. From the second I met Brad from Steele Ford to the wave goodbye and “call if I need anything “ handshake from not just Brad the salesmen or Ahmed the finance manager but the Sales manager himself made a point to come thank me for my business before I drove off, and not once did any of them portray the typical greasy salesperson we have all grown to hate. Every member of Steele Ford should be proud of their demeanour and the hard work they do to make the customer happy. I could go on and on about all the extra details they helped with but I’ll just say this instead….
If you’re purchasing a Ford and you’re not doing it at Steele Ford in Halifax… that will be your one regret for the year. Steele Ford, you have my business from here on out and when I speak to anyone about my truck I will make sure Steele Ford is emphasized as the true hero in this story.

Routine maintenance (oil change, recall) were fine. Counter staff were great as always. Also had them check a slow leak in one of my tires. They said they couldn't find anything and yet I got up Tuesday to go to work and had a flat. Not overly impressed with that but the winter boots will be going on soon anyway.

Our recent service visit at Steele Ford Lincoln went very well as it always does. The service advisor was very pleasant and professional and fully explained everything that was required to be done. A Lincoln loaner was supplied for us to use, and the service advisor went to the parking lot and brought it to us. Our vehicle was cleaned inside and out before being returned to us. A report card was given to us with an explanation of what was done. Excellent service.

Cathy and I buy a few vehicles here so we are always treated well but I will say after our last challenge they had was with our 2020 Hybrid Lincoln Aviator. From the top, Johnathan, Sandy, Lyn, Logan, Cory, George and Steve they handled our issue the best you could of asked for. I am a challenge for a customer and I have high expectations and everyone at that dealership handled this as best as you can. I want to say thank you as I love my Aviator and missed it for the time they needed to repair. Excellent dealership to purchase and to be appreciated to the highest standards.

From the moment I made the phone call till the time I was back in my repaired vehicle, I was totally satisfied with the Ford experience. Sandy was excellent when she arranged my appointment. Sarah was a superb service advisor! And I really thought the video from the technician was both informative and helpful. All in all I would rate the service as 5+ out of five. The cost was exactly as I was told upfront. The genuine interaction of the staff highlighted my experience. I will be back.

I had my vintage Mustang in for some work, and left it in for a extended period of time. It was kept inside the shop and well looked after.
Logan, in service, was professional & friendly.and is very good at giving updates on the details of the service. Also Lynn and Tricia are very personable and know their stuff as well.
"Mechanic Art" is great and has worked on my "ole baby" a few ties over the years.

Want to share my recent experience with Cory & Sandy at Steele Ford Lincoln this past week….

Set up an appointment call on my Ford App (Love) and Sandy called me back before I even exited from the App, she was the BEST - very organized and detailed….

Arrived for my appointment and was greeted in the Bay Area - directed inside to Cory - who was very well versed and professional and had me on my way - with my service completed in a very timely manner - he was very friendly and kept me posted via text and call - I was super impressed. I had errands to run and after a short walk my truck was ready and the whole experience took less then an hour. AWESOME JOB. Got a chance to say hello to my favourite salesperson in the world “Annette Armstrong” and had a catch up with the rest of my Ford Family - Jonathan Bonang - who’s simply the best and a pleasure to see each and every time I enter the dealership. I can appreciate these guys are busy - but they always take the time to make you feel right at home - comfortable and welcomed. Thank you Jonathan and your team - I love my F150 and can’t wait for my 2021 to arrive.

They were fabulous! Had my last maintenance and a safety check done. Loved getting a video showing me what they were doing and seeing how my tires and brakes were. Never had that before. Cory was wonderful and really made it a personal experience.

Advisor was nice, but seemed not empathetic when I was surprised with the increase work and money I ended up having to put into my car. I asked her to explain what happened, but it seems rushed. Another service advisor when I came by to pick it up, took time to explain even my mundane question, which made me felt heard.

I like your videos, but the video doesn't really show where the changes were made, so its partly ineffective.

Obviously having cars, comes with a-lot of expensive, but when one has to pay 700-800 on a whim, its isn't actually the best feeling. We know we have to pay for it, but if the advisors are kind, show empathy, and explain the process as opposed to being rushed, it makes for a better experience

There was a issue with time waiting for a oil change and tire rotation. I had a 10: 00 am appointment. At 11: 25 I asked Corey for a update on my car. Corey checked with the teck.and was told that my car was just taken in for service and would be another 45min.wait. I think you would agree that 2 hours and 15 min.is not a normal amount of time to wait for service I was in for. In my opinion if there are going to be delays that communication should be transparent prior and during service. Regards, Ken Prest

As usual Steel Ford got me in quickly, provided me with a loaner vehicle for the day, got in touch with me very quickly to discuss the issues and fixed the issues for a reasonable cost! This is where I will continue to go for service and purchase new cars!

HORRIFIC & PATHETIC - Never again will I deal with them. Bought a used car back in Nov and had taken a dealer warranty for three months. I was told that if anything went wrong with the car within the three stipulated months, they would take care of it for which I paid 499 CAD upfront at the time of sale. In the second month itself, the track of the driver's seat started giving me trouble. Upon reporting this issue they refused to honour their commitment and sought 1,000 CAD to repair. After heated discussion, I got my car back without the job done. They said they will check and revert and it has been more than two weeks nobody has bothered. I will strongly urge my family and friends to stay away from them in the future.

Great experience! Enthusiastic sales people and a large selection of vehicles. I tried shopping at another dealership and they wouldn't let me test drive the car I wanted to buy because of "salt on the road. " So I went to Steele Ford Lincoln and they made it easy for me to make a decision to buy a car with them. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a personalized shopping experience.

I found the staff very active to welcome me, no extended period of waiting in line.

Bailey was very professional and prompt. Was able to answer all my questions. She followed up with the email I provided her, and was extremely quick in obtaining new parts to repair my truck.

Overall an excellent first service with Ford.

Came in for oil change and received video quote for additional work including sway bar, axle seal and air filters while mechanic failed to reset low tire pressure indicator triggered when snow tires put on. Seems someone focused on finding costly repairs. Disappointing service

I was looking for a used truck year 2016 or 17 and my partner whom is a retired teacher said she had a student who was a sale rep at steele ford and to ask him to help you out. His name is Ryan Tripp so i reached out to ryan via email and he promptly got back to me. Due to the shortage of decent used vehicles within my price range i was having no luck. I decided to go in and meet ryan and asked him about a new truck either lease or buy. He showed me a 2021 and i really liked it and decided to take it for a ride.now i am not someone who just strolls up and buys a new vehicle. The truck was very nice and when i came back we start to talk about it and the rest is history.

Documents lost, was told prior to buying vehicle I would receive it within a week. A MONTH later I received it. Then it came without the documents needed for me to license it. They promised everything to be smooth and once they received the down payment it felt like they didn’t care anymore. Felt customer service was good until they’ve got the sale. Then the service has been horrible.

We originally came in to have our radio fixed as it would intermittently not turn on. Four visits, one incorrect software installation and two wrong part orders and we go to pick up the truck last night and it won’t start saying there was an auto start/stop function fault and to try start manually.but, it won’t start. Not impressed.

The used car dealership manager is the most rude and most inconsiderate person I've ever met in my life.
Put down a deposit to hold a car but couldn't gather enough cash plus the car needed 2900 worth of repairs. So i had to drop the deal. Only to be told i couldn't get even part of my deposit back ' since its year end and all the paperwork passed in' whatever that means. You better off going to wholesale direct if you in need of a used car
