A great place to lose yourself in all things comic and anime related. Lots of unique items for gift giving for your favorite nerd! Please be aware that masks are required in the store but they can provide you one if you forgot yours. Ask about local events as the staff and store are very connected to the community.

They have lots of stuff to look at. Good figures too. Lots of mini ones if that’s what you are into. A little weird they keep the door locked and make you wear a mask…. The man working was not very friendly

Paid a visit to the Prince Street location while visiting Halifax. What an amazing shop! Huge selection of titles and a ton of other cool merch as well. Calum was incredibly helpful and welcoming. 10/10 recommend checking out this shop when in town.

Disappointing experience. The door was locked and the person just stood there looking at me…eventually, I indicated that I’d like to enter and he said, “Mask? ” I pointed to the sign on their door and said, “Your sign says that you’ll provide me with one. ”

When I finally got in, I asked if they had a specific comic that I was looking for. He took a cursory look in a bin and said that they didn’t have it and went about his business.

I found the issue that I was looking for (in the bin where he “looked”). Long story short, I dropped about 80 dollars in a business that is being run by folks who act like they’re doing me a favour by selling me comics. Judging by their replies to poor reviews on this page, they really don’t GAF about how their customers feel.

On the bright side an hour later I visited Monster Comics on Gottingen Street; they were extremely helpful and they also seemed very happy to have my business. Night and day.

This business is still asking you to wear a mask. Do not support this business. Studies show that masking does not help and can in fact do more harm than good.

Was planning a trip here but after seeing how they treat customers with tourettes I am far to scared
22 January 2023 11:11
They discriminate against customers who have medical mask exemptions. Irrational fear of contracting an illness or disease is a protected human rights characteristic and the Emergency Measures Act has ended. A FOIPOP has shown there have been no cases of asymptomatic spread of Covid-19 in NS. I suggest filing a human rights tribunal against this company if you are also discriminated against.

Great staff, great products. Nice that they observe good health practices for patrons and staff!

Just a lovely little store full of countless wonders and knowledgable staff. Its hard to overstate the importance of Strange Adventures on Halifax's geek community as well, an absolute icon of the city. There's a part of me that will always miss the hidden little hobbit hole that was the original location but I can't hit my head entering here so it's a worthy upgrade.

Love to see a business stick up for the countless folks who are still living in a pandemic that never ended by enforcing a strict mask policy.

I am here to educate the owner as seeing their responses they don’t understand the different types of TS that exist. There is actually a TS that makes people not just swear but it can make them say obscenities and slurs. When he said he saw flags with rainbows what he was saying is when his brain interacts with items it neurologically effects his words with his tics. Now with that said as I read more of your responses I see you have yet to educate yourself on TS as you continue to defame him by saying “oh well he was using slurs” okay so if you truly educate yourself and do research sometimes the brain with TS responds differently due to trauma, stress, or early home life upbringing making slurs inevitable in the case of their TS. To boldly claim he used a slur when in the video he explained why it popped out is disingenuine of you as the owner. Before responding do some research. I study psychology which is the interaction and reaction of chemicals in the brain through disorders. I don’t care to hear your response to this as Google is free and so are all the articles and peer reviewed research papers presented via Google

I think you and your staff need to do research on tourette's and Coprolalia before you tell someone to control what they say. Even after he told you he cant. 100% victim blaming. You and your staff have made your business look so bad coming up here and attacking a man for something beyond his control. When you start loosing business, make sure you blame your own actions for it.

Disgusting store, saw 2 cockroaches. Not very helpful either, when asked politely for help I was told to wait very rudely while employee was on their phone.
14 December 2022 10:33
Poor customer service, they don't appreciate customers and are stand off-ish with strange, anti-social views.
10 December 2022 16:40
They discriminate against people with Tourette's syndrome. Very rude, unprofessional staff.
04 December 2022 8:16
Absolutely repulsive and ridiculous behavior from this establishments staff and overall management to treat customers and other guests with the utmost unprofessionalism. Regardless of location, the outfit as a whole should rethink their poor discriminative behavior towards anyone and everyone. No matter what excuse they formulate as a response, it's such a shame that will be the 'Hill they're willing to die on'.

"he manufactured a scandal" yet you brought him to the back to corner him making him scared enough to need to record.pathetic ableist
02 December 2022 19:58
Uneducated people work here! People who won’t listen to a customer when having a REAL medical condition. Teach your staff and your self to be kinder humans. There is all kinds of people living in the world stop living in your little bubble And be kind!

Definitely a joke of a store. First of all you have to knock for entry so the can monitor who enters. Even though masks are no longer mandated this store requires you to wear them, however they do not ask you to sanitize your hands. Another retail store that’s out of touch. You can do whatever you wish but as for a collector I’ll go elsewhere.
27 November 2022 17:28
Decent selection of books, comics, figures, cards etc.they are however actively barring anyone from entering without a mask despite no mandates in place. Definitely virtue signalling. Be warned, next they’ll want to see vaccine status before buying your anime.
23 November 2022 13:38
Trying to hide your ableism behind wanting to make sure people don’t hear certain terms “involuntary or otherwise” is not the move you think it is. Speaking as a queer person, you harassing someone with a disability does NOTHING to help us.

This store doesn’t deserve to have customers.
Picture having TS and dealing with it your whole life. Dealing with discriminatory teachers, coaches, employers, policy makers, police and now comic book Shop owners.
Comic books and shops have always been a safe place for me.
I’ve always found that the people who frequent these places have values and beliefs similar to mine. Typically you find someone to talk to and have a human interaction over a talk about iron man or funko pops.
I feel like the owner of this place is out of touch with the WHY behind the comic book industry, and maybe a little out of touch in general.
Honestly this place is not deserving of your hard earned money.
I was given a hard time, because of a disability that’s beyond my control.
I thought the issue was solved so I gave them a second chance instead of leaving. Only to have the manager corner me in a small area a few minutes later, and berate me, almost like an ambush, about how to carry myself emotionally, telling me I’m a potential problem to other customers bc of my disability (that’s harnesses) and trying to tell me something about some words he felt I should not use.
Bottom line is this guy is an ableist and dangerous. He tried to strong arm me by telling me how to act and what’s appropriate, when he has zero clue what he’s talking about.
The thing that’s truly unsettling is that he hasn’t even apologized to me.
This is actually a zero star rating.

I recently saw a video involving this store discriminating against a person with Tourettes. That is not okay. Gamers strive to be welcoming, and this kind of behavior is not appropriate.
13 November 2022 23:20
Ableist employees who are continuing to not acknowledge their ableism.patiently waiting for my response with the predictable “one sided story” or “ambush” buzzwords.do better.when disabled people are telling you you’re being ableist, your response shouldn’t be immediate defensiveness/victim blaming.it should be one of understanding, with an intention to do better in the future.

My two kids and I went to this shop over the summer. The guy working there followed us around the whole time and gave us 10 minutes to buy something or leave immediately. We were trying to decide on something and he came over and told us we had to go before we could even make up our minds and well before his 10 minute window was up. It was embarrassing and he was a real jerk. I don't recommend anyone to shop there, the person working there was rude and downright mean to us.
24 October 2022 14:27
Your responses to the comments are still ableist. You say “we do not want to hear homophobic slurs” and also “without being subjected to offensive epithets”. What part of involuntary and Tourette’s do you not understand. How you should’ve handled it was to ask if he has it nicely and he says yes leave him be. An honest apology with taking complete ownership of your reaction would go along way.

Discriminatory staff here who have no aware for peoples medical conditions. Take your business elsewhere, they will be very rude.

My go to place for comics when I'm in Halifax, there's always great deals going on and a vast collection. I've never left the place empty handed!
09 September 2022 7:25
Every visit here turns up more comic book treasures! Never a wasted trip! The staff and owner are always friendly and helpful, and are part of the reason this has been my favourite comic shop for more than 20 years.

I also appreciate that they still require masks to protect their staff and customers. This is one of the few shops I genuinely feel safe shopping in these days.
