Sugar Marmalade (Halifax) 糖记甜品

SO excited that we found this place in Halifax! As a lover of durian desserts I could not choose which to get but settled on the rolls in an attempt to keep the smell at bay for the friends we were dining with. Glad to see fresh durian but the skin wrap was new to me which took some getting used to.

Food and presentation were all really good and the server was very kind and patient with our large party with kids. Will let the photos speak for themselves! Excited to go back and order delivery from UberEats when we don’t want to drive down to find parking!

Not too bad for desert. But the food is not that yummy. Pork soup is good but too much fat on the top. Worth a try!

I'm glad sugar marmalade is open in Halifax. A Hong Kong style snack shop has been long overdue!

Went here to satisfy a sugar craving and we were more than pleased with the mango shaved ice we ordered. The portion is large and perfect for sharing, the flavours were great as well. I’m not usually one to go out for desserts but this was definitely worth it, I’m looking forward to trying something from the actual food menu next. Overall no complaints and the service was pleasant. You have a button at the table to press for service or I believe you can scan a QR code to order from your phone. Keep up the good work guys!

Loved it! We had the popcorn chicken, japanese curry, sweet red bean soup and mango shaved ice. Everything tasted great and staff were really nice and friendly.

I am sure this will be my favorate place. It’s So clean and staff is kind and friendly. Dishes are also good. I will be there again ASAP.

I waited months for this place to open. My mouth watered looking at the dishes portrayed on the outside windows. Despite my expectations being sky-high the food somehow met or exceeded them. Things look exactly as portrayed in the menu. Our server was very sweet and if you prefer less socializing you can just order using your phone from the table (unusual, but very cool). I hope they get more and more business. They deserve it.:)

Onw of the best asian dessert places (as an asian myself!) The actual dishes are mid but the takoyaki is pretty good. The one thing i hope changes is the staff assuming everyone is chinese when theyre east asian.its rlly uncomfortable.maybe they can say hi to everyone and if they respond in english they probably dont speak mandarin or other chinese languages?

The desserts were great but my 3 star was due to the server unfortunately. It just could've been an off day for her; in addition to being served an ingredient we specifically asked to not have added and instead of being told when the order was made they made it then served it saying sorry we can't make it without this ingredient. This could've easily been a dietary restriction but was not taken into consideration.

Shared 4 dishes here. All were good/great. I personally didn't care for the sweetness of the honey garlic sausage but still good. Will try again

Visited the restaurant with a friend to try their Shaved Ice Cream. We went for the Mango combination with Vanilla Ice Cream and Aloe as the add-on. My goodness it was so good. It is quite a bit too. Easily can be shared between 2-4 people.

The place is beautifully designed with a bell on each table to call for help. It is conveniently located next to Spring Garden which is a plus.

Hope to come back and try the other items on their vast menu soon!

Their baked stuff are great. When I miss Asian food, this is where I go.

The food looks better than it tastes. Of what we ordered the fried chicken tasted the best however it was dry and probably should be served with a sauce. We didn’t understand the concept of having to order from the QR code and waited a long time for our server before we figured it out. I wish it was clearly communicated to us.

We ordered the strawberry and banana crepe, I did not expect it to be filled with more whipped cream than the actual fruits. And the cream wasn’t freshly made like expected it tasted like cool whip which I’m not a fan of which was disappointing.

The mango sago was good and refreshing.

The takoyaki maybe wasn’t for me.

Really nice atmosphere and the servers are lovely. I got the shaved ice and really enjoyed how it is customizable. Was extremely delicious and would come back for more!

We ordered mango pudding and strawberry mille-feuilles. The pudding was absolutely flavourless and had no taste byitself. The mango on the pudding did not taste fresh and the syrup was a little too sweet.overall wouldn't recommend the mango pudding.

The strawberry banana dish we ordered was tasty, and the chocolate ice cream that came along was creamy and decadent. However, eating the biscuit was a challenge and had just a few pieces of fruits. The mille-feuilles puff pastry was not cooked well and was hard. We reported it to the server, and they accepted the mistake but did not make up for it.

Overall, the 3 stars are due to the friendly staff and ice cream.

The taste is good and the service attitude is very good. The only small drawback is that one portion is too small and two portions are too much

1st time visiting but definitely not the last! Huge menu, lots of great options - the choice paralysis was real! Food and service were excellent!
