Sugar Moon Farm

The Maple Magic tour and breakfast was an all around fun, educational, delicious and heart-felt experience. So glad we stopped along our long drive!

We had Brunch at Sugar Moon Farm last Saturday. We got a little tour of the maple shack before Brunch. Food was amazing we had the Chef Special and it was delicious. If you are in the area this is a must visit. Quick, friendly service as well.

A true hidden jem of Nova Scotia, Rogarts mountain train was closed for spring maintenance, I would highly recommend the hike through the Sugar maples in late spring. With a refueling break at the sugar shack for butter milk pancakes with pure Nova Scotian maple syrup

The food was really good, it felt a little pricy considering most of the food was pancakes, beans and syrup. (low end cost items) it was $60 to feed two ppl.

The service was great, refill your cup a lot, the staff is super friendly and welcoming.

The inside of the building is really nice, nice presentation of the building in its glory.

Really cool that they rent out snowshoes to access a waterfall by winter trail. Something I never done but looks cool for any nature nut.

Delicious food, DF options, friendly staff, cozy cabin atmosphere and right next to a beautiful hiking trail. I will definitely be back:)

Love Sugar Moon Farm! When we went the oven was broken, so we didn't get to try some of the things we went for. However the quality is amazing, the staff are lovely and the atmosphere is perfect. I'd highly recommend!

Food was very nice but a lot was out of stock / oven not working which wasn't substituted on the brunch. For the expensive price I felt was unfair. The trails nearby are amazing and worth the walk.

We’ve been coming to Sugar Moon farm for years. I’ve had many lovely times here: going on hikes, seeing the horses, and dog sledding (a number of years ago). However, I’ve always been disappointed by the restaurant. A coffee with biscuits and maple butter is a real treat; everything else is only ok. The pancakes in particular are bland.

My most recent visit was the most disappointing, unfortunately. We drove 150km from Halifax and were turned away as walk-ins because there were “oven issues”. It’s a pancake house. We weren’t even offered coffees. They also replaced the long log tables with Ikea plastic chairs and wood tables, this really takes away from the ambiance.

We really love the area and it’s been a family tradition to come here, so it’s sad that this will likely not continue.

Came to Sugar Moon when I visited my sister in Nova Scotia. Food was yummy. Blueberry compote was soooo good! Maple butter was divine! Wish we were able to do the tour as well but because of the hurricane that had just recently went through there a lot of trees were down. Nice place to visit with family! Very homey and cozy.

A sweet little place in the woods to view the sugar shack and have a lovely Maple themed lunch. We had maple butter with yummy biscuits. Pancakes with wild blueberry compote and maple whipped cream, local German sausage with Maple mustard. There was a great tour of the sugar shack explaining the whole operation and the history of the sugar shack.

Absolutely wonderful pancake breakfast! Everything maple! Maple syrup, of course. Maple "butter". Incredible-looking Maple macchiato (made me wish I drank coffee!). Gracious hosts! Take the tour!

Lovely staff who treat their guests with pleasure and take the time to explain their maple syrup process. There were a few different options for food and they were very accommodating. Maple butter (and all the other maple infused dishes) was something I never knew I needed before visiting Sugar Moon.

Eine idyllische Location. Das Brunchmenu herrlich lecker und liebevoll zubereitet. Wir wurden top bedient. Nach dem Essen gibt es viele Möglichkeiten für einen schönen Verdauungsspaziergang.

It was great, a nice place to go to.lots of trails to walk on. Did not eat there this time but maybe next time.

Perfect breakfast on a fall day.fireside coffee and good helping of fresh hot pancakes and local pork just melted in my mouth. Definitely a must stop if you are in the area. Book ahead online as they fill up fast

We had a delicious breakfast at Sugar Moon Farm September 12th. Customer service was excellent. Would highly recommend Sugar Moon has a place to visit and have a great meal.

If you didn't know what was involved in making maple syrup, you will by the time you leave! Restaurant was good and staff were lovely

Delicious breakfast and drinks and really fun interesting way to spend a morning. The property is pretty and the staff are very professional and nice.i love coming here

Worth the trip. Do the hike before heading in for breakfast. Some beautiful views. Not your average trail hike. Breakfast is awesome though you may have a short wait for seating. Chef's nights are also great experiences. Wish there were accommodations close by for those nights.

We did the Maple Magic Experience, which is a set menu breakfast, a hot drink, and an educational tour on how maple syrup is made. Everything was fantastic and I'd recommend this to anyone visiting the area as a tourist!

Amazing atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious pancakes and the best tasting maple syrup ever! Also, don't miss out on the maple butter!

Was there for the tour, food and the maple on snow.
The staff is very friendly! Food was very good, we had a vegetarian meal served, which was delicious. Some say you pay for just pancakes, but you get more than that, and the pancakes are truly amazing! Depending on what you ask for, you may be able to try beverages, seasoning (even mustard) and maple butter. All made with maple syrup.
I'm glad we could also meet one of the owners (Quita), who leaded the tour. The tour is very much interesting and explains the steps of the production and the origins of it. It's wonderful, specially for those that know little or nothing about how maple syrup is produced or where it comes from. Also, after the tour you can taste and compare some of the maple syrup made there.
Finally, the maple on snow was delicious and funny! I'm pretty sure I'd love to try it with snow, but I'm glad that they managed to make it possible to experience with crushed ice during summer time. That's an experience I'll never forget!

First visit, what a pleasant surprise. From the great coffee on up to the local made sausage and delicious fluffy pancakes, among the best ever, IMHO. Biscuits and maple butter to die for! The made in house maple syrup and imported from PEI mustard cap it off. Service and the log cabin venue are tops. Add this one to your must eat here bucket list.

Personnel très accueillant, de beaux produits, l'envie de faire découvrir et gouter de nouvelles choses. Le Mapple Tour avec Quita était sympa et en plus quelques explications ont pu être faites en Français, que demander de plus!
Le sirop d'érable à la vente est fabuleux!

Amazing story, too bad the sugar season was over so we did not see the darm in operatuon. But the tour, led by the owners wife, was very educating. They still do it alll by hand here

Not much for the tour. Evaporator wasn't running when we were there. Kids enjoyed the maple on the snow.

Restaurant food was really good. Pancakes were super fluffy, maple baked beans were great, and the sausage was very tasty with the maple hot mustard.

Would we go again? Possibly but only to the restaurant.

I come to this location every time I am in truro, and try to make it in for chef night on Valentines day. If you havent tried the former try the latter and vice versa. On top of a beautiful drive (from any direction), great pancakes and in house made syrups, you have incredibly kind service within the coziest cabin you've ever eaten in. This is a near-Truro gem.

It is wonderful to learn everything about the maple syrup and at the same time eat everything with maple syrup

Great food and friendly staff. Atmosphere is ok, it would be a lot better if they got rid of the florescent lighting down the center. Portions are very small and expensive.

The place is nice, but too pricey. I can't believe I paid almost 50 for pancakes and tea for 2. For 1 time only.

Great cafe and a beautiful hike behind the place. The maple tonic and pancakes are definitely worth the drive!
