Tako Sushi & Ramen

What a terrific experience. I arrived when they were just opening, the Chef was taking time to clean the glass coolers that house the fish.he was being really mindful, a good thing to witness. The service was attentive. Its a welcoming space with tables and booths and the restaurant was filling up with a number of Asians.also a good sign. I ordered Tuna Tatami and the tempura vegetables.both were delicious. This restaurant deserves a return visit. I highly recommend it.

Tried out Tako Sushi today for the first time after hearing good things about it and we weren't disappointed. It was so good, I forgot to take pictures of our meal. It was really busy with only one waitress and the wait wasn't too long. She was very nice and quick considering she was the only server. We've tried a lot of sushi places and this is our new favorite. We will definitely be back.

The first time I saw a picture of his ramen, I wanted to try it, because I had eaten too many ramen before and it was hard to swallow half of it. I will try it today. The soup is thick and delicious, the noodles are springy, and the soft-hearted eggs are just right. It can be said to be the top ramen in Halifax.

As always, the sushi was delicious!
They can be a little slower preparing food than their estimates when getting take out, but it is still within reason for a place so busy. It's worth waiting!

Tako is always my go to for sushi and absolutely my favourite sushi restaurant. Their ramen are so delicious, the ramen soup are the best. Fish are fresh and many options for sushi.

It was all amazing, we had gotten some take out of sushi and ramen. We tried their Hokkaido and their seafood ramen, both spicy. Good spice levels in each soup and really tasty.

Our sushi rolls were wonderful, fresh seafood and great rice. We really look forward to dining in the restaurant soon!

I tried the Tokyo ramen and the Haru bento, both lunch specials. There was nothing wrong with the food, but there was also nothing fantastic about it either. Overall the sushi and ramen were both very mediocre and a bit disappointing considering the high rating.

The fish did not seem very fresh and had a dryness that contributed to its blandness that the soy sauce could not even help. The rice was also not quite soft enough, maybe due to being left out too long and having cooled off? The assortment of tempura were great and fried nicely which I thought was the most enjoyable part of the bento. The ramen was decent with the soup being a tad bit too salty but had a good texture. The ramen noodles were also nice and chewy, however the chasiu and egg yolk were both slightly overdone. The yolk should be more runny.

The restaurant itself is very casual and I think a lot of people from around the neighborhood dine here so it was quite lively. The staff are also very friendly and provide good service. It's fine for what it is, and I don't think there's anything worth raving about but that's just my opinion. Other reviewers seem to be enjoying it fine.

This is our all time favourite Japanese restaurant! After coming back from Japan and wanting to find ramen locally, this was the only place that tasted just like it did in Tokyo! The sushi is incredible with gorgeous presentation and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an excellent experience!

Awesome place to eat! Very comfy booths, and helpful staff. Really big portions of ramen at fair prices. Highly recommend the Hokkaido ramen and taiyaki. Delicious

I have been to your location a handful of times now and I am always impressed! Last night our waitress was so kind! We didn't realize we were there until almost closing time and she did a great job checking in and not making us feel rushed out the door. The food as always was amazing!

A fantastic selection with in house specials and combos. Fresh tasting food on par with way more expensive places. Kind staff that help choose some good choices from their selection. And the ramen is superb!

The ramen here was good, and the price was decent. Will be back for more. It gets really busy at dinner time so if you don't want to wait, it might be wise to head there a bit early, especially on weekends. I've never done pick up, but I see a lot of people Picking up orders so that's an option they offer as well. The staff has been very helpful and polite everytime we have gone. The decor is nice as well, and atmosphere is welcoming. There's often kids in here when I go which is nice to see, so it's family friendly! Update February 2022 - Tako has become one of my favourite places! Love their food, I have never been disappointed. Always delicious and staff is always welcoming!

The best sushi I've had was in Waterloo, ON. We were visiting Halifax and after reading the reviews for this place I knew I had to try it. Wow, this restaurant went above and beyond our expectations! The sushi was comparable, quite possibly better, than the sushi I had in Waterloo. The tuna was so fresh and melt in your mouth. There were so many roll options and we had a lot of fun trying them. Also the sushi pizza was out of this world compared to so many places I've gotten sushi pizza from. They were so busy and it was a Monday evening. I plan on eating here again whenever I'm back in Halifax. Do yourself a favour and try Tako Sushi! Can't say anything about the ramen as we didn't order it.

Had the miso Ramen, soft shell crab, and a couple sushi rolls and everything was incredible! The Mrs. Had the seafood ramen. Fast, friendly, service and a cool decor. Definitely be back!

Absolutely the best sushi I've had in Halifax. Amazing flavors and presentation. Proper amount of rice and way less filler. We finally have a real sushi shop. I'm hoping they open the sushi bar seating after Covid restrictions.

At the same time, their Ramen is absolutely wonderful.

Top your night off with deep fried ice cream and you won't regret it.

Very disappointed with the food quality and customer service! This restaurant was starting to be my go to place until today. Some of my roles that had tuna in them looked like it was minced. After trying it the fish was very chewy and solid. When i let the staff know they refused to accept the problem and stated that it’s fresh tuna and it’s supposed to be like this. After going back and forth they took it off the check.

Always friendly staff and super delicious ramen and sushi. My fave sushi spot in the city! Highly recommend!

2. Server was unable to identify sushi ordered - as per industry standard
3. Did not return to check to see if our meal was sufficient
4. Had to find another server, request bill to leave- our server went on break sitting in table beside us.
5. Owner of restaurant did not appear concerned with poor service.

First and only visit for me.

The food here is excellent. My wife is Japanese and we both agree that the ramen here is the closest you can get to ramen in Japan. There's no other place in Nova Scotia that serves ramen like Tako does. Their sushi is delicious and all of the staff are friendly, every time. The owner, Kevin, is very friendly and is consistently providing a great experience. If you enjoy eating sushi and ramen, Tako is the place to go

This place.just wow. The rolls are all absolutely fantastic - seriously, the torched rolls, especially the torched butterfish rolls were some of the best I've had, tied for first place in my book. A slight criticism is that I do wish the teriyaki beef in the beef rolls was a little juicier, but the sauce they give with those rolls does fix that.

The ramen is also absolutely delicious and the noodles and broth are perfect. I'm from New Brunswick but this was the second time I've been here, it's a place I hope to visit every time in in the area because the food is great and actually authentic - something we don't really have much of in New Brunswick.

If you're a local and you haven't been here, you're totally missing out so hurry up an go. If you're visiting the area and don't know what to eat, stop reading and go. Now! You won't regret it.

The worst restaurant, fat women with southern Chinese accents are very unhygienic. This restaurant is disgusting!

The staff were so attentive and friendly! It was our first time at a Japanese restaurant. We had gyoza, yakitori, tonkatsu, and tempura. Everything was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be back.

Phenomenal sushi! Tako came highly recommended from friends and did not disappoint. Best sushi I've had in Halifax. Fast and friendly service. Definitely plan to come back.

First time going. Service was a little slow, but expected since it was supper hour and only one waitress.

Love this Sushi restaurant. We frequent here quite often. Always fresh, tasty fish with creative sushi. Staff are very friendly and polite and the chefs are very professional. Highly recommend this restaurant.

This was my third time here, and I am still a huge fan. I was worried the first time was a fluke, but I'm convinced! Great food, all of their options are great, the ramen was so tasty and filling, the sushi extravagant, we've had just about all their appetizers and you just can't go wrong. Great stuff, we will be back! If you want a real treat, try the Yokohama roll. Absolutely decadent

I really liked this spot. Nicely laid out inside, with a large food selection and terrific sushi rolls. Staff was friendly, but I'm not a fan of offering additional food to the table without being up front with the cost. The bathrooms are also not as nicely renovated as the rest of the restaurant. Still, the food is the main attraction and it thoroughly delivers!

Excellent sushi; one of the best in Halifax. Good for small groups and their sushi boats are great a party favor.

Was really excited to try the ramen after reading glowing reviews. Unfortunately didn’t like the flavour of the broth and found the noodles to be a little gummy. Ordered other dishes that were absolutely delicious but overall, was let down by the ramen. Really friendly service and nice atmosphere.

The restaurant needs a bit of updating but the food was great. I had the Ramen soup and it was delicious, as well as a Sweet potato and avocado maki roll that equally as good.

Food is always great, fresh and of high quality. Kevin and Christine (owners) always remember us by name and despite the fact that we weren't there for over a year they always remember us and treat us like family. Best sushi in HRM.

Sushi and sashimi pieces are bit small but it is taste. The tempura and soft self crab batter is hard. Overall good food and lots of choices.

Hands down one of the best places to have Japanese food. I like the variety in their menu here. Very tasty and delicious food overall. Their lunch special menu is very filling in very reasonable price. Always great service and friendly staff. Highly recommend their ramen and sushi.

Excellent! I chose Tako on the recommendation of my son and am so glad I did! The service was terrific and the food was amazing. I was on my way home from the beach and called ahead for takeout. They were extremely patient explaining various options to me and made appropriate recommendations. When I arrived (early) I was in time to watch as they freshly made my order. It was absolutely delicious. I will be returning and recommending Tako to my friends!

My favourite sushi place in Nova Scotia! A family run business, owners are the real deal and are also the chef/manager! So friendly and always go above and beyond! AND the sushi is amazing! I’d go back even if they were horrible people and the restaurant was a dumpster. So much to choose from, so delicious! I would absolutely ugly cry if they ever left! I just ate there yesterday and brought sushi home, put it in the fridge, and then attempted to re-warm (?) in the microwave. Would you believe it was still delicious? It was! New York and Yakohama rolls. Amazing! Go for the food, be pleasantly surprised by the service. Say hi to the lovely owners!

My favourite sushi and ramen place In the city. Always fresh, the owners Kevin and Christine are always there over seeing the whole operation is running smoothly. You need to see for yourself. Eat in tho the atmosphere and freshness of the food are better.

We visited today, no service at all! We were waiting half an hour, nobody came to serve us. No service at all! So we left home, being very disappointed, as all our previous visits were quiet good. This time No service at all. Very sad!

I've never had a bad experience here. Fresh ramen for all palates. They make other dishes too which are delicious (udon for ex.). Their gyoza is also delicious. If you have any questions the staff there are super nice and helpful. On top of all this, the owner occasionally comes out to visit you to introduce himself and ask how the food is.

Always friendly staff. I usually order for take-out, sip green tea while I wait, and watch them prepare sushi. Try the Ramen, I definitely recommend it.

Hands down my favorite sushi restaurant in Halifax; quick friendly service, fresh produce and creative specials. I really enjoy how the owner remembers me, even though I'm only in once every few months.

I rate sushi restaurants based on the quality of their salmon sashimi, and I definitely give 2 thumbs up for Tako Sushi & Ramen. The sashimi in my lunch special bento box was evenly cut, and I knew it was fresh because it had this "almost going to melt in your mouth" quality to it. I've been there for their ramen too, and it's just as good. So lucky to have this location so close to where I work!

Highly recommend the sushi pizza. The amount of fish on the rainbow spicey blew my mind. Amazing. Everything is so good and priced so well.

We ordered a misou soup, assorted maki - which comes with 3 different flavors- spicy salmon, dragon roll and another one. Every bit of it was an amazing experience. Fresh and Tasty!

Tako has really decent sushi and very good ramen. The Hokkaido ramen was spicy and savory and its contents were all well-executed: a lovely egg, salty, fatty pork and ramen noodles with a perfect texture. Well worth a visit, no matter which part of the city you live in.

Delicious ramen, large servings. Accommodating staff are willing to make small changes to menu items when asked.
