Awesome place. Awesome selection. Records are pricey these days, but if you want analog sound, you got to pay to play, lol! Lots of goodies there.records, cds, playback equipment. Stop in and browse. You might just find what your looking for.

Taz is great. Friendly staff help you find anything you need and the used selection is incredible. It's gotten more expensive in the last couple of years but so has everything else!

My go-to when I come downtown Hali. I always find a gem every time I browse. Great gang, knowledgeable, casual, kind and respectful. This is basically a “hole in the wall” IYKYK. Still quite easy to find.

This business is a true gem in Halifax. The selection is impressive, the prices are reasonable, and I’ve found a couple long dreamed of records in their used selection for far less than what I’d pay online. The staff are always so incredibly friendly and helpful, and I find myself constantly shazamming the music they play in store which has led me to other great finds. The odd time I’ve purchased a defective record they’ve swapped it for another copy with no questions asked. Better customer service than you could hope for if you were ordering directly from some record labels online shops.

This is by far one the best stores a vinyl collector could find. They have undoubtedly the largest selection of records I have seen outside of a record fair. There is so much to choose from. Whether you are looking for the latest releases on vinyl, something older to fill that gap in your collection, or if you are just looking for something new to try, it's all here. My only complaint, and this is being very nit-picky, would be that most of the bins are so full it is hard to flip through them.

Visiting from Australia I Was super excited about checking out Taz Records. I wanted some help buying a needle for my brother in laws record player. I showed them
Photos of his exact setup, I could see plenty of needles in view behind the counter. I had two staff in front me, one asked if the other one could take over for him without even talking to me and the other guy couldn’t be bothered either. Really bummed out by thier service. Great collection of stuff for sure but the staff are rude and not helpful at all. I’d shop somewhere else if you want ANY HELP AT ALL.

The most complete and comprehensive record shop in town. Very neatly organized and easy to browse.

Unfortunately this store doesn’t have the nicest people working there. Not very welcoming.
I do prefer their selection over other stores and probably the only reason I was still going in there, and the two stars.
Think I’ll be ordering on line from now on. I rather not deal with cold people who have their backs turned to you when they are working cash.
Is it really more important to pick the next cd of horrible distasteful music. I just spent over two hundred bucks on LPs and you offer me a paper bag lol …. What happened to the tote bags you offer after spending over a hundred dollars.

I would recommend hiring friendly kind people over pretty people who have no substance to them. They seem to be there only for themselves.

Taz is always one if my favorite stops. Its a little expensive but you have superior selection. If you want new this is the place but used can be hit or mis depending on your tastes

Great selection not just of music, but movies as well. Great variety of hits and cult classics. Huge selection of Criterion Collection and Arrow. Top notch. Sale prices are great.

I grew up loving record shops. Shops like this have the nostalgic character of the shops I loved in the 90’s. This type of character is what helps maintain value for solid media like records and cd’s. Most of the content is new. Would love to see more used stuff.

This is a regular stop for me when I visit Halifax. The staff are usually friendly and helpful (one was a bit crabby today) and they have a large, well organized collection of vinyl and CDs to peruse. Prices are higher than average but there are sale bins and a $1 clearance section that's fun to pick through.

I love music.records. Cds. Stereo. It's the one and only one-stop shop in Nova Scotia to get the best deals in records and cds and cartridges for your turntable!

They have a massive selection of everything you can think of, I even found school of rock on VHS, literally everything

I bought a used record to collect, they said that since their record player wasn't working I could return it if it was defective. I found that it was of poor sound quality. When I came back they offered me a "store credit" after I said I want my money back as they said I could. James was so reluctant to let go of 10$ when they are quite a big business here, quite a show of character.be careful when you shop here to get your full money's worth ;)

Unreal record store with great selection of new and used vinyl. Also received a great recommendation from them to go to Hamblen’s Audio Service for repairs on my amp.

Tax Records is such an amazing place where you get that real vibe of a record store. There is so much to look through. The sights and smells make you smile. This place is amazing for the vinyl fan

Really helpful staff, big selection and good atmosphere, been here a couple times. Staff leave you alone to browse unless you need help, and in a record shop thats exactly what I want. Everything is well organized.

Just tried to offer me $5 CANADIAN for a record valued at the lowest 112 USD and 150 in British pounds (that's 225 Canadian). But the guy behind the counter called my mint condition cds scratch up (they aren't) and then said he could offer me $5 dollars. You can call me a liar but I have screen shots of what I can make selling it online. Thank you for showing me I can trust local cuz they wanna rip off there community.
People know what there stuff is worth these days smarten up.

Taz has a great selection of records, CDs, and cassettes, the staff is great and everything is very well organized. Parking near the store is very confusing though so just make sure you read all the signs!
