The Barrington Steakhouse & Oyster Bar

We came here to start off our New Years eve celebrations and we are already planning our next visit! Our server Gaetan was very polite and funny! He was always on top of things and made great recommendations. We sat on the second floor and loved the atmosphere we did not feel like we were too close to the people next to us. The food was absolutely amazing we got the steak bread which was full of flavour and more filling then expected! We also got oysters to start which I really liked the house sauce they had. For main I got the Dry Aged Bourbon Striploin it was cooked exactly to my liking and the bourbon added the perfect amount of taste. My partner got the buttered aged ribeye to which he said was very good. The enhancements had to be one of my favourite parts. We got the brussel sprouts, mushrooms, and bone marrow mashed potatoes. Each dish had a tremendous amount of flavour! We could not finish everything so our service packed everything up for us and even on day 2 each item had so much flavour and was just as delicious! And of course wine was amazing! For sure recommend this place!

The beef wellington and beets were fantastic. Pro tip: call ahead and reserve the Wellington if you want to guarantee availability since they only have a few of them prepped

Worst experience I've had in the last decade in Halifax. Food took two hours to hit the table and we were like that's okay. Poor customer service skills and yet we were like sure. But what got me to lose my mind is when I was paying for my food I put about 15% tip (even though I didn't want to). However, the waiter snatched the machine off of my hand, pressed back on the terminal and chose the 18% option for me instead! I asked are you even allowed to do that? His answer was "that's our policy", I told him I don't think what you've just done is legal! He started arguing about their policy, I asked again if this is legal? How do you modify the tip amount for me after I decided how much I wanted to pay you for the poor service? He started giving me vague answers and argued back saying that you have to pay this percentage according to their policy! I clearly asked him if he knew that what he just did is so unprofessional, unethical and illegal relying on embarrassing people while paying with his low tactics. I do not recommend this place to anyone out there. What they've done is illegal in so many ways and considered theft. This place is a DISAPPOINTMENT and run by extremely unprofessional staff who don't respect their customers.

Was here again after 5 years, unfortunately something went wrong.

But it was repaired very professionally and extremely friendly

Wow. What an incredible spot to have dinner. Food, staff and atmosphere are all amazing. Oyster selection is outstanding and wine and drink menus offer a very wide selection. Our waitress “from Ukraine” was exceptional and oh so friendly. Will definitely recommend this place for a relaxing and or romantic evening.

October 2022: I went to this place with a group of my work colleagues. Omg! This place is vibrant. I loved the atmosphere, service, and food.

I would highly recommend the "bag of donuts" in dessert. You will get five small freshly cooked donuts with hot chocolate dipping sauce. I was full after having 2.5 donuts:) and kept the remaining for later.

Great appetizers and food except a burger that was ordered did not come as ordered. Otherwise all was top notch including the service.

Exceeded my expectations, nailed & checked each. I liked my host Cameron, waiter Niel (1st night) & Sierra (2nd night) ambience and food. I went two nights in a row and did not failed my expectations.

We were a party of 7 celebrating my nephew's graduation. Most of us ordered appetizers which were very delicious. We then waited about an hour and a half for our main courses. We all ordered steak and lobster tail with the exception of 1 person. All of our meals were cold. I asked to have mine reheated. Once the server found out everyone's food was cold (and the lobster was undercooked) our server immediately got the General Manager to come see us. Many people would be upset but I have to say the Manager looked after us and rectified the situation to our satisfaction. Mistakes can happen. How they finished was what was important. Our server was also very good. I'm sure this is not the norm as my brother has had many wonderful experiences here. When I'm back in town I would be more that willing to try this place again.

Sat upstairs, Inside was gorgeous, dark wood, highback comfy chairs, perfect spot for a romantic dinner, or awesome food for dinner with friends. We were a party of 4.
Tenderloin steak was totally delicious. They even start you out with a tray of fresh warm bread.

The service was very good, the steak was only okay as was the burger. The creme Brule was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely.

It's a very comfortable place a bit more on the fancy side. Our server was very nice and the food was amazing but it was a bit more on the expensive side of things. It was worth it at the end but I wouldn't go their regularly because of the prices. I'd recommend the seafood platter to share and then one of their specialty steaks.

I absolutely fell in love with this Steakhouse. The food was high quality, we had oysters, lobster and Chateaubriand. The wine list is extensive and the sommelier was very knowledgeable. I'm going back for sure.

Really disappointed. Chan and I ordered well-aged strip loin steak, If it was well aged, I am a spring chicken. Though everything else, including our partner's steaks, was quite decent.

The server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was immensely flavorful from the beginning apps to the main course of ribeye steak and fresh cut fries. Cooked to perfection, seasoned right, and portioned well. I never have had anything less than a stellar experience here.
