The Bread Lounge Bakery

I went in for breakfast while waiting for my tires to get changed across the road. Was apprehensive because there wasn't any sandwiches that screamed "breakfast" to me, but I ordered the special where you get coffee, a sandwich and a pastry. Came to about $12.

The sandwich was amazing, so flavourful, and the pastry (apple streudel) was delicious, with pastry that was soft, so it didn't explode all over the table while I ate it.

My only issue was with the server. He got to me fast enough, but never actually looked at me, kept his head down, and had to keep getting him to repeat himself cause he kept mumbling. Was my only issue.

Back on the plus side, the "lounge" part of the name really comes through! I sat on the couch with my food and a magazine, and was very comfortable for the hour I was there. I definitely would have stayed longer if I could!

This place is definitely a hidden gem, and I'm hoping I just caught the staff on a bad day, cause it's definitely a place I want to go back to. Highly recommend

Was nice, clean, great service. Enjoyed it except for the table was so wobbly it spilled our coffee. Food was pretty good and fresh. Ty.

So disappointed went as soon as they opened but unfortunately not much in the showcase to buy. Was told to come come in about hour and half as there products come from Dartmouth. The lady was very nice and I know there products are amazing. Just an FYI maybe call first if first thing in the morning to see they have on hand. A trip wasted for me.

Thank you for the customized cake 8inch (chocolate blueberry 35 cad). It was delicious and affordable. I ordered tru online website and they sent some sample cake pictures tru facebook messenger.

The are very accommodating and responsive to inquiries. Highly recommended for the excellent taste and affordable price.

No power in the air b and b yesterday so walked over to Bread. They were quickly selling out but had excellent coffee, and mini beignets to die for. Very welcoming and friendly place, despite the wind and rain outside.

What a Disaster this place is. I heard a lot of positive feedback about this place. I ordered Custom Cake for my Daughter's Birthday 3- days in advance.

Went to pick up as per agreed time.guess what? Cake is not there.infact, it was never prepared! I got shocked.what now? I have to take that cake straight to my kids Birthday Party.

Owner calls me and admitted his mistake, but asked for another 2hr 30 mins to make it ready, and was giving it for FREE to fix this one.

I am not a freebee guy, if you cannot do work when you are being paid for, one can Imagine how a no charge work would look like.

One can imagine how it feels, to not have a custom cake for your kids birthday party. Owner said he is in baking cakes for 30years.is this what he has been doing? Like this?

Great little place offering a wide variety of sandwiches, breakfast items and of course some great pastries and bread.

I moved out of the city and it was my first time back here in a year. I loved this place but the combo I'm familiar with is no longer advertised, and my Boston cream pie tasted freezer burnt. I was soooo looking forward to that pie.: (

Coffee is amazing, atmosphere is so chill, easy to stay an hour or two talking with someone there. Their food is delicious and made fresh. Definitely recommend.

No complaints about the food but I was a little upset with the service. However the owner was very nice and promised me it will never happen again and drove all the way himself to make it up to me by getting me a combo free of change

I’ve been to Bread Lounge a few times and they have lovely pastries and delicious food. I’d give them 5 stars, but whenever I visit their staff is unfriendly and it seems like they are in a bad mood.

The customer service was above and beyond and the cake was delicious. Would definitely recommend to everyone

I love this place!

They have fair pricing, and we only spent $10 per person.
We got a large and regular hot drink, 2 paninis, 2 cookies, and 2 small donuts.
Their food was tasty and fresh.

They have a relaxed atmosphere.

The staff were friendly and fast.

Came in yesterday and we were a bit disappointed. The pastries were not very flavorful, the outside crust on them tasted very “egg-y” - and there really wasn’t many options to us chose from at the time. We asked for our sandwiches warmed up and the insides were still quite cold, I don’t think they were left on the press long enough. The coffee is okay, but probably not the best around by any means - and if the rest of the food isn’t great then I’m not sure if it’s worth it to come back. I used to love this place, it was my go-to spot for lunch in the city. But it seems like the quality is going down lately: (

I don't know why there are so many negative reviews but, I ordered Ferrero cake for my husband's birthday it was moist and super delicious. My family, friends everyone loved it

WONDERFUL! Highly recommend. First time there they were so so kind and best quality, tasty desert. Fair pricing and great value. They even gave us an entire slice of cake to try as a sample!

Fresh baked goods and hot drinks served at a very reasonable price! The spicy chicken sandwich was the best part though they put it in the panini press so it’s nice and warm

Last time when i went this place, i liked my experience. But this time the girl who took my order was so rude and unfriendly.i asked that i am dining in and if she can put the coffee in a mug instead of a paper cup. She rudely said i does not have mugs. Not even a minute later a couple walked in, had a coffee which she served in a mug for them. I mean thats just stupid, denying a customer one thing and then offering another customer that same thing.

Very delicious danishes, croissants, sandwiches and coffee. Nice space to dine. Mostly staff is pleasant, some could use some personal skills which brought the rating down.

Probably one of the worst lattes I've had, can easily get equal quality and better at tim Hortons or an circle K.

Otherwise pastries and the atmosphere was wonderful, would highly recommend theyre food/deserts, just not the coffee.

Great value in their combos and the pesto + bocconcini sandwich is delicious. The latte was not great though.

A delightful, bright and stylish place to grab a pastry or a meal. The staff are friendly and courteous. If you have a sweet tooth, try the Nutella danish, but prepare to make audible noises of delight! It’s a favourite for sure! Their almond croissant is also delicious! The combos are very reasonable, quick to grab, and tasty; it makes the Bread Lounge a lovely spot to grab lunch in-person or on the go during the work week.

New business with new ideas. I tried it at Bedford mall, new location with new Cafe menu. I liked the small bits. You need to try it to know

One of the best bakeries in the town. Their chicken sandwich is delicious. Also the croissants, loafs, and pastries are super yummy. Altogether a huge collection of mouth watering foods!:)

Nice spot for quick brunch or afternoon bite.
I like the Pesto Chicken Sandwich, the Pesto boccocini, the Sriracha Turkey croissant. They also have great Nutella Danish and other varieties of pastries and cakes.

Dissatisfied with the quality. The chicken soup-supposed-to-be did not have any pieces of chicken soup and ungenerously filled in a small cult to take out. The tart was a little fluffier than regular ones but may not be made from 100% butter but have some margarine or different type of oil instead. The atmosphere of the store is nice. Wish that they carried more kids of cake with real cream.

Great place for a person who loves sugar. Had a cake wasn't that great neither that bad. It was okay. But still recommend!

This place is amazing. The food is fantastic and fresh and the staff is so kind! I have been there the last 2 days for lunch as everything looks so good I have to try it all! And you can not beat the prices!

So after many, many recommendations, I finally went. I'm really glad I did. Not just for the quality of the food, which was great, but the prices are outstanding. I got a chicken pesto sandwich (which they put on the grill for me) along with a can of soda, 6 chocolate cannolis and 6 triple chocolate cookies, and including tax it was under $20. There are lots of fancy pastry shops that charge an arm and a leg for their stuff and are half as good.

If you haven't gone to this place yet, or have been waiting for an excuse, don't wait any longer. Go. You won't regret it. Great service, amazing prices, outstanding food, and it's fast. Faster than you'll get a Whopper from across the street and it's real food. Do it. Do it NOW!

I had the spicy chicken ciabatta and an americano. I asked for a double shot and they gave me the second on the house. Lastly, they sell Java Blend coffee (the boss hog of coffee in Halifax).

Nothing short of phenomenal! A mutual customer recommended I try the Bread Lounge and I guarantee this is just the first of many visits.

Halifax's North End best kept secret is getting less so as more and more people are finding out about it for all the right reasons. A small, intimate setting with exceptional food & baking, great coffee and friendly & attentive service at very reasonable prices. It's become of of our go-to places that never disappoints.

This place is amazing and clean. The atmosphere is relaxing. The food is delicious and there are a lot of variety. The sandwiches and baked stuff are so good. Parking wasn't available i think because of constructions. Accessable enterance available. The place also tries to be waste free as possible.

Amazing! We ordered a cake for 20 people from The Bread Lounge Bakery, and it was awesome. Super moist, and yummy! The price was very reasonable at $25 all in for the cake which was a steal:) We are super duper happy with them, and will be getting our next cake from them forsure. Also the staff was lovely & very helpful since we needed it in a short period of time and with a custom message. Would recommend to everyone!

Go once and you will become a regular! Croissants, danishes, bread, cakes and other pastries baked fresh on site all day long. Delicious sandwiches made with quality ingredients, and the coffee is always fresh brewed. A combo of sandwich, pastry and coffee is $8 taxes in. Service is always friendly, the owner is usually on site and greeting customers. If you are a first timer he'll probably tuck in an extra treat just so you can try more things!
Comfy casual space to sit and relax, and new outdoor seating make this one of our favourite must stop places.

I went there for lunch today; I got the vegetarian pesto sandwich and the soup of the day which was a cream of mushroom. This was the best sandwich I've ever eaten in my entire life. The soup was amazing as well. The service was fast and prices are low (between 8$ and 9$ for the whole thing + a drink). This place instantly became one of my favorite and I will definitely be going there again.

Nice place for mid morning coffee. Good coffee selection, nice range of pastries that are baked on site and nice clean bright seating area.

Ok. I heard about this Bakery from two different people on the same day. I had the good fortune to stop in for lunch the other day. It was just after noon and most of the tables (about a dozen) were full but my friend and I decided to try it out. It is not a large shop but it reminded me of the sandwich shops in Australia. They have their own 'in-house' bakery and sandwiches. The staff were super helpful. Their items are individually priced but they also have several bundles, that include coffee, for a special price. We picked the sandwich and two cookies with coffee - $8 tax inc. Everything we had was very tasty and we even got a refill on the delicious coffee. They also have a good assortment of special coffee like cappuccino or late. The tables filled and emptied several times as we found it very relaxing and not rushed. Highly recommended!

This shop was recommended by a co-worker. I am so glad I decided to pay them a visit. Great food, exceptional staff in a clean stylish environment and favourable prices. I ordered a sandwich, pastry and a tea. I highly recommend that you check this place out. I will return and share this little gem of a shop with family and friends.

I was shopping next door at Attica and the delicious smells from this bakery were driving me crazy so I had to investigate.

It's a lovely, welcoming, modern space. I look forward to coming back and having a cup of coffee here, but for this visit I was fixated on the pastries. I bought two cinnamon swirls and two pains au chocolat and had a brief chat with the German-trained owner/baker. So welcoming, so positive, so excited to be bringing these European pastries directly to Haligonians after years of selling wholesale only - he's a delight and so are the baked goods. Never had better, and can't wait to come back! A real gem.

This is a fantastic coffee shop. Baked goods are fabulous. Prices extremely fair, service first class, hst is inlcuded. Give it a try. You will love it. If you are really hungry get a soup and sandwich deal. Large bowl of soup, fresh sandwich and a cup of coffee. $8 tax in.
