The Freight Shed: Waterside Bistro & Market

By far this is one of the best places to eat. The food was absolutely delicious (I had the Reuben sandwich & salad). And portion size was very large. The service was excellent. Sat at the bar in front of the kitchen where you could see your meal being made. The chef even asked us how the meal was. My friends had the Shed burgers and salmon and all were very impressed. I'll be back again for sure. Great job people!

Can't say enough good about this place. A bit pricey but worth it for great food, sizeable servings, great friendly service and a beautiful location.

Excellent place, good and refined food, impeccable service. The place was very crowded and therefore a little noisy, but every now and then you appreciate having a few people around! A little expensive.

Lovely spot. Average food. Very slow service. Waited 1 hour for our meals to arrive. Waiter seemed to disappear.

Other than pricing (albeit tourist destination), we had a great meal with an amazing view. Our server was very attentive. They have a monopoly on breakfast since most places weren't open till 11am, but it's worth it.

Was in solo for dinner and sat at the Bar. Had a wonderful time. Atmosphere is great. Service very good. Great oysters and selection of draft beer. I had to deduct a star when I ordered dessert…. Sticky toffee.
I watched as they unwrapped it and put it im the microwave. Ouch!
Suggest either taking off the menu or use a local person for other desserts.

Stopped here on our last night in CB. The food and service were excellent. Seating is very tight. Prices are too high for small portions of seafood, as expected in a tourist trap area.

The coconut blueberry pancake is really a must-try! It is one of my favourite pancakes so far in my life. Definitely a “won’t-be-beat” breakfast! It is crispy but soft at the same time, the chef put a lot of blueberries in it as well as dried coconut.

Other food such as French Toast, Classic breakfast is above average too. Highly recommend to everyone traveling to Baddeck.

This place was our favourite meal throughout a week long trip of the easy coast. My partner and I couldn't stop saying how delicious it was while we were eating. I had the gourmet grilled cheese and salad and he had the black bean burger. Both were amazing, maple salad dressing was delicious. We split a flight of local beers and ciders which were also all delicious. Our server was very kind and helpful, service was timely. We were there in October, so not peak season where I'm sure it would get very busy. Overall would highly recommend stopping here while in Baddeck!

We love going there. Atmosphere is nice. The good in general is very good. However my vegetables this time were cold but the waitress quickly fixed that. So all good in the end.

We visited The Freight Shed last week Oct/23 and had the mussels and scallops and lobster roll.we arrived to the east coast and every restaurant I went to along the Cabot Trail, Halifax and Wolfville I ate mussels and Lobster and scallops everyday.have to get our fill.they have by far hands down the best Mussels and Scallops of all the restaurants we went to. I would recommend getting the mussels and Scallops when you go there, they were cooked to perfection! Yummy!

Fantastic food, right on the water. We ate lunch in August, served by Isabelle - would highly recommend. Both staff and food are great. The Score cheesecake is amazing.

Stopped here on our way through Baddeck on our East Coast roadtrip and was absolutely blown away. The location is beautiful being right on the water, the food was absolutely amazing. I had the spiced black bean burger which was the best black bean burger I have ever had! If you are passing through Baddeck, do yourself a favor and stop here!

Best Lobster Roll and Seafood Chowder we found in our 1 week trip to NS. Great staff and awesome food!

This one is of the best we have during our trip in the last couple days. The other one is the lunch at Glenora distillery. This one is better. Had to go back for our second dinner. Love the beer sampling option and the seafood linguini and different seafood appetizers. The burger is also great with fresh salad.

The food was amazing. My wife and I shared the seafood chowder (which was excellent) and the crab cakes (which were some of the best I've ever had). Nice selection of local beer on tap. Food came promptly. Waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. And to top it all off, I love watching an open kitchen at work.

There is a nice looking patio with a great view of the harbour, but it was raining so we had to eat inside.

Good food, like everywhere else understaffed but with patience a very fun meal and good drinks.

I have had several items at the Freight Shed restaurant and everything is always amazing. Wait staff is great. Great place to be.
Just a note of awareness. We dined at the Freight Shed last evening and with the latest menu their main dishes are served with Chef Inspired Daily Selection which was vegetables, two different salads and two different soups. Previously we had it with vegetable medley which was fantastic. It wasn’t made clear it was a choice of one of the five. My husband chose soup. When his fish arrived it was fish and a bowl of soup, no vegetable medley.
Honestly if I was the waitress I would stop to make it clear that the client was getting soup and soup only with the fish or steak whatever you ordered.
Also we weren’t made aware of the special, which we overheard another waitress telling the next table.

Beautiful view. Excellent service, and everything we ordered was delicious - muscles, Rueben, chowder, portobello mushrooms. Very welcoming for visitors and their pups on the patio!

Wow! A hor spot! Food was spectacular! We started eith the scallops for an appy which were perfect in everyday. We then had a lobster roll with clam chowder which was DELICIOUS! We finished it off with a peanut butter cheese cake which was so rich Such a cool atmosphere, busy spot and we can see why!

Pleasant brunch before heading to North Sydney ferry.
Food was great and portions were generous.
Service was quick but we didn't feel rushed. Menu was uncomplicated but selections covered a variety of tastes.
Isabelle (Izzy), our server was knowledgeable, kind, and had a great sense of humour.
Restaurant was right on the wharf with indoor and outdoor seating.
