the Head Shoppe - Sydney

I visited here during the week before Christmas and received a terrible hair cut. I need glasses to see well and didn’t notice the hack job until I was home, otherwise I would have requested a fix on the spot. The “stylist” was buzzing the back of my head before I could explain the style I was going for, which was a mullet and that immediately went out the window. When I was home, I noticed two big chunks of hair that were gone around one ear and the other on the opposite side of my head. I can’t believe this cost nearly $47. I’m never going back here again.

I went here to dye my hair, but they don’t get what i want. I have high expectation that they will gonna do it perfectly. But im so dissappointed. When you say Head shoppe at the mayflower mall you will think expensive, but it doesn’t matter if you gonna pay too much as long as they get what you want. But on my part i pay too much but they didn’t. When I get there the hairstylist ask me what i want get done i show to her the color. At first she’s really honest, she said it might not get the color i want coz its from box dye but she really nice to think what the best way to get the color i want, so she offer a keratin formula she said it will help to get the color, but that keratin they gonna charge you extra so i said if thats gonna help ill do it. The hairstylist start all the dying process. It takes so long, at first i said its okay coz its not my first to dye my hair to ligther. So after almost 4 hours. When the lady started saying something my hair i was shock coz i didn’t thought its done. And nothing happen to my hair. The hairstylist said she don’t wanna use strong bleach. The Ash color that i was expecting it never happens. My hair went to dark and look my normal color. I should have refused to pay but i was so in shock! Honestly its pissed me off! Coz i spent too time and too much money on it! Bad experience. Very dissappointed, I’m surely not coming back and recommend.

Went in today, and they squeezed me in no problem. My hair was a mess from it being bothered 2 days ago- the stylist who fixed me up today was incredibly sweet, knew exactly what she was doing and when I left her chair you'd swear my hair was never in the state it was prior to walking in. She literally saved my hair and I'm thrilled I got to meet her, because I will be back anytime my hair needs a pick me up, I really couldn't be happier.

I am a stylist and I never want to bash other salons or stylists. It's a nice looking shop and I've met a few friendly stylists there. One of the problems seems to be that they go through stylists a lot, from what I've observed and understand. So their stylists don't always have a lot of experience. I think they are also very focused on being quick, which means they can be imprecise or quite messy. I have gotten two-three cuts there and each time they only did about a 10-15 minute cut. Not a thorough job. Each time the job was decent but either uneven, not what I asked for or seemed incredibly rushed. I've also waited for over 30 minutes passed my appointment time without an apology for the wait or explanation as to why there was a hold up, while multiple stylists aren't doing anything. The other thing is stylists standing around the desk. It just doesn't come across well. If there are 4 stylists standing around and 1 doing a service, a customer shouldn't have to wait for that busy stylist so they can get the service done, unless they specifically requested that stylist. I'd suggest to account for more time when booking clients, really listen to what the client wants and take your time to try to achieve it as best you can. Have passion in your work!

Kim was great as always. I’ve been going here for about a year and they always have wonderful customer service. I always walk out satisfied with my experience and my new hair cut and style is always what I ask for. I’d definitely recommend the place!

I took my boys as walking and they took us and did a great job. Price was reasonable as well. Definitely recommend

First time getting my hair cut by Amanda Ormond she was great made sure I was okay with everything, kept a great conversation the whole time, loved the hair cut, super friendly will be going back again!

Went to get a hair cut and it was bad service. I booked an appointment for 4: 15 and the lady cut my hair was in a hury to leave for the day. On one side hair is too shortened and the other is fine. Not the kind of girl cut I wanted. I explained it to the lady and she said “it looked perfect! “Not satisfied!

Kim always makes my hair look gorgeous and feel healthy when she's done. She's always got great suggestions and listens to what I'm asking for.

Skilled and polite staff. Clean and hygenic environment and reasonably priced. Definitely recommended

I wouldn't even give this place 1 star, but that's the lowest rating available. I have tried to get a cut here twice, but left both times because of the horrible service. The service here is the WORST of any salon I have ever been to in my entire life. I only booked here because I heard one stylist was good with curly hair.

The most recent booking I made was for a SPECIFIC stylist and I made it clear it was on my lunch break from work. I show up, I sit there for 30 minutes waiting. Of course the receptionists didn't tell me the stylist was running late, or I would have gone to get a coffee instead of sitting there staring at their product wall for 30 mins. When I finally get in, I say to the stylist that I heard she was great with curly hair. She gives me a strange look, then walks away. She proceeds to go and talk about me to reception as if I'm not a human being capable of communication. It was so rude! Then she comes back and acts like nothing happened. I ask her what is going on, and they booked a totally different person than I had requested.

They didn't have the courtesy or professionalism to call me in advance and ask me if it was ok to change the stylist. I asked for her by name, so obviously that was who I wanted. They didn't notify me in advance or even when I checked in. Meanwhile, 2 receptionists are behind the counter chatting the entire time! They could have given me a heads up and asked if this change was ok, but no, they were too busy chatting together. This is absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. They wasted my time and I would NEVER go back there.

Amanda did a great job styling my hair. She listened carefully and asked questions to confirm her understanding of what I wanted. She was professional, friendly and efficient. I would definitely recommend her.

Awesome experience. I had very long hair and went in with a photo and a general idea. Payton was fabulous and I love my new haircut. She did a fantastic job. Thanks Payton.

I went in asking them to fix my hair. A simple fix, or so I thought. After getting home, I'm going to have to wear a hat for the next three to four weeks. I cannot understand how a simple haircut can go south. When someone walks in, they always put them with the least experienced. That's not the way to run a business. They told me there was no charge, now I know why. As a business, know your strengths and weaknesses, and address them accordingly. You could offer me free haircuts for the rest of my life, and I wouldn't return.

Please feel free to offer suggestions on where someone can get a decent haircut.

I took my daughter for a before school haircut! The price was 19.50 ish. They washed, cut, dried, and styled her hair. She came out looking and feeling like a million dollars. She was very happy with her hair.

I had the pleasure of being assisted by a young lady named Reanne. She is so sweet, very accommodating, easy to talk to, was professional, clean and polite! I'd highly recommend her and her services hands down!

The head shop is the only place I would go to get my hair done.professional and friendly with great service.my hairdresser Jill rocks. I would highly recommend the head shop to anyone looking for a great experience

I wanted streaks throughout my hair it looked good when I was in but when I came home I couldnt even see the streaks was to small and too dull I expected alot more I need to have them brighter and more thicker

I walked in and asked if they took walk ins. Was told no, fully booked. Only 1 lady in a chair and 2 stylists. Walked around half the mall, walked by again, same lady in the chair and 1 stylist on the phone.
Would have taken 5 minutes to shave my head.
Oh well!

Due to Covid 19 Policy - I was unable to sit with my 5 year old daughter while she got her hair styled for Photos. I live about 3 hours away, so I booked my appointment in advance over the phone. The conversation was short, and I felt it was rushed.

No instructions or any information was given in advance.

When I showed up at my appointment, the Stylist was waiting behind the cage barrier with it open a bit to take my child in back. That's what I realized I was unable to sit with her and give my ideas of what I wanted done.

After asking a few questions and feeling furstrated as to why I was not told this over the phone, I decided to step aside and find a salon in the Sydney area that would allow me to sit with my daughter, as we had photos scheduled for 6pm.

After my first phone call, I was able to find a salon close by, that could take me in right away and allowed me to sit with my child and discussed my idea as to what we were wanting done.

I politely advised the receptionist at the Head Shoppe that we were able to find a place where I was able to sit with my daughter, and that we will no longer need an appointment.

Received a great haircut from Stylist Amanda. She fixed a very bad cut from another barbershop. She listened carefully to what I wanted and worked quickly. Very friendly place and other staff are great too. Plus, I felt comfortable with the way they handle the pandemic concerns.

Booked an appointment Friday morning for Saturday after work, when I arrived they didn't have my booking. To add insult to injury I was asked if I wanted to rebook. Why? So I could show up again and they wouldn't have my booking? Ridiculous.

The person cutting my hair does a great job. Wish we could vote by chair instead of just the shoppe itself.
