The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Halifax

Love this place, have been going there for years. Went there last Saturday, had calamari as a starter and had beef tenderloin and ribs. Everything was excellent. They serve nice warm bread, definitely a nice touch when many restaurant these days charge for bread service. Our server Ryan was friendly and professional. He recommended a nice red wine. Will be back again.

My first time eating at a Keg. Honestly the best service we have ever received and our meals were absolute perfection (salmon and baseball steak)

Our table was ready on time. Service through from Chelsea was superb, warm, accommodating, attentive. All food was excellent. Both Cobb salad and Caesar salad were among the best we have had and generous, served in nicely chilled plates. New York strip steak and prime rib mains were excellent, fresh, perfectly cooked, great sides, all served on nicely warmed plates. Tip top all round.

I had fried cauliflower (an appetizer) and a side of garlic mashed potatoes as neither of the 2 vegetarian options sounded appealing to me. I had a 2 drinks the first one was okay but the Mai Tai was awful. I would not recommend, I wouldn't go back. It was a very dark atmosphere, not sexy just kinda creepy and they have carpet! Not my style.

I ordered the Lobster and steak. You would think that being in Halifax in May you would get a really nice lobster experience.well no, it was a tail.very small and very dry. It came with butter (no garlic butter) and the steak was full on nerves. The lobster bisque was good and my husband 's filet mignon was good too. The service was great! I find that for the price the food should be better. 240$ for 2.not really worth it in my opinion.

It's the Keg, the standard in which I place the quality and pricing of a steak dinner. The Keg has done a great job at making their meals consistently across Canada. And most steak places in the area will cost more but not meet the Keg's quality/taste. So IMO, just go to the keg. There is a place 5 min away that costs more, you get less, and isn't any better.
The grilled lobster tails with steak is the way to go. For an app, the baked brie is excellent.

It was my husbands 30th birthday and in Ontario we cannot book reservations on weekends so we showed up not realizing that you had to have a reservation here and they were fully booked. Mackenzie, the manager and hostess were SO WONDERFUL! Not only did they make room for us at a really nice private booth in the bar area but they sent over a delicious piece of birthday cake. Our steaks/lobster, drinks and server were fantastic and overall we had an amazing first time visit at this location! We will 100% be back and I wanted to thank everyone again for helping me make my husbands birthday so great!

Simply the best restaurant we have been to in a while. Ruby was amazing friendly and very pleasant to deal with. Food was cooked to perfection. LOOK FOR RUBY WHEN YOU. GET YOUR TABLE.

Our waiter was exceptional, the Manager came out to explain and help with dietary restrictions. They went out of their way to service us the best meal. Bravo. Love the Keg.

Very nice restaurant, great staff, steak is superb double baked potatoes, & their Caesar Salad is to die for!

Great menu that doesn't overwhelm you with choices! Expensive, but worth it! The waitress was great!

Steak wasn't anything special, it was definitely good, but not the best I've had. The cocktails were just flat terrible. They love to put bitters in all of them, which for those who don't like bitters, ruins every drink. After spending $200 between myself and my girlfriend, I expected to be more impressed.

Staff very friendly. Service was prompt. Ordered the prime rib which was more like roast of beef or maybe pot roast. Waited for years to visit the Keg again and maybe the expectations were too great. Disappointed.

Service was really good. I had the chicken and rib combo which was fine. Should have had the steak.

The food is really good this is what im talking about! When you wants good steak this is the best place you won’t regret! Its actually best place for everything. Wanted to give 5 stars but they dont have pina collada no more!

Great food, perfect service by Katie. We sat on the lounge side and it was cozy. Apps were shrimp cocktail - love the presentation in a martini glass, mushrooms Neptune, prime rib with garlic mash, and sirloin with lobster tail. The veggies I got as my side were so fresh and flavourful. Everything was cooked perfectly,

My family had a very lovely evening out.the meal was delicious and the service was excellent.the atmosphere was also very quiet that night an added bonus for us. We love taking our out of town visitors to the Keg.

Thank you to Drew for providing great service and making my day and my celebration with my family so very special. The Keg has the best steak! I just wish they would have filet mignon without bacon! Bacon doesn't have to be mixed with other meat all the time. Anyway, we had a great meal.

Everything was Absolutely amazing from the appetizers, to the filet mignon, to the free dessert for it being our anniversary and the lovely waitress we had. Oh and let's not forget the crafted Pina colada drink. Loved it

Had the top sirloin, pistachio salmon and calamari, everything cooked for perfection, fast service, exactly what the keg should be!

Great service and the food was delicious. The waitress was very friendly. She took our oder and kept checking on us making sure we had drinks. We were served quick.

Steak is awesome but appetizer (I ordered fried calamari. OMG, it taste horrible) and salad (not too many selections) sucks

Have been here several times over the years and the service is always good and food is flavorful. Love their friend cauliflower, it is a large portion for an appetizer. Our server Rose Mary was friendly and professional. Will be back again. I highly recommended this resaturant! Must try.

Went to the Keg to celebrate wife’s birthday. We booked reservations and almost cancelled, we felt like the Keg wasn’t fancy enough - since after all it’s a chain restaurant. We were wrong, the layout and atmosphere of this place is awesome, it’s intimate, private music playlist was great added well to the ambiance. Ordered the seafood trio and blue cheese filet mingon- AMAZING. Fresh, hot, succulent, flavourful, cooked to perfection as Gordon Ramsay would say it was textbook. Not a single misstep. Mushroom Neptune’s were impeccable and the crime brûlée to finish was the perfect end to a great evening. Don’t down play the Keg, service here is top notch. Manager always comes to say hello before you leave.

Service was very friendly and prompt. We went here on a Tuesday night to celebrate my partner's birthday. They have measures in place for everyone's safety. Food was delicious.

Great food and friendly staff. As we were waiting over an hour for our table a group of friends of one of the workers came an hour after us and easily got a table within 5 minutes.seems fair.

Always an amazing experience when we go to the keg. The food is always outstanding as is the service. They've also upgraded their wait list system since the last time I visited which was amazing. There is not much space in the lobby to wait (there is always a wait on weekends so plan for that) so they now take your phone number and you can leave and go to the restruant next door or across the street for a drink, then they text you when your table is almost ready! It made the experience that much better! Can't wait for our next visit!

The food was absolutely mouthwatering! We also love the atmosphere and service. Definitely recommend someone try it out

Went for a 6 year anniversary dinner with our 2 kids (2.5yr and 6months). The wait was estimated at 30-45 minutes but only ended up waiting for 10-15 minutes. Ordered 2 appetizers (scallops & bacon and Garlic Cheese toast) and 2 main course meals (keg classic Baseball Top Sirloin) and all of the food was delicious.
The complimentary bread came out as if they had just removed it from the oven, the scallops & bacon were perfectly paired and the garlic cheese toast had a great herb taste mixed with the cheese.
Both of the Baseball Top Sirloins were cooked medium rare and had no burnt edges and had the right amount of spices for added flavour. The steak came with sautéed mushrooms (which I gave away as I'm not a big fan of sautéed mushrooms), a roasted red pepper and some green beans, both of which were delicious. The sides chosen were French fries and they were crispy with just the right amount of salt.
The server was extremely kind and patient with our daughters noises as we were trying to order and she even interacted with them individually to given them some extra attention. A few other servers in the area also stopped to see the girls and ask about them.
Overall, I think this was my best experience yet at The Keg and even with the 15 minute wait (we went at 530 so we knew there would be a wait) it was definitely worth it and would highly recommend going if you get a chance.

Came here on 5 January with my wife and a couple friends. The service was excellent. The ambiance is great and even though there were a lot of people there it still felt intimate. The steak was perfect. The crab was tasty. A couple of the sides were a bit bland, but all in all the food was great. We'll be back.

Visit was on 30 Jan 2019 at 18: 30. The restaurant had a good ambiance - well decorated, tables spaced appropriately, etc. We we greeted and sat within seconds (had a reservation) and meal was very good from appetizer to main meal. Service was excellent. Only issue was with background music being way too loud for that setting and making it quite difficult to have a pleasant conversation at the table. Was constantly needing to repeat or ask for repeat because of noise level. People had to speak so loud to drown out music. Poor selection of music and way too loud.

Don't go here often due to parking, but we always make sure to go now and then. The food and staff are always exceptional. The waiter we had was friendly and joking with us whenever he came to check on us or take an order.

We both had steaks, which were cooked exactly as asked for, I had the blue cheese crust and rice as a side. The blue cheese crust was very well balanced as blue cheese can be over powering sometimes.

All and all, I would always reccomend the Keg as a nice night out, it may be a chain Restaurant but it is run with exceptional quality.

The Keg is always a great spot for food, and they don't disappoint, but the restaurant is super loud, offers no privacy, or relaxation. Been here twice, and same thing both times.
