The Keg Steakhouse + Bar – Dartmouth Crossing

Loved it. Had a great seat at the back by the bar. Service was great. I feel that our server went out of her way to amek sure we had a great experiance. They had a good selection of beers. I had the Keg Classic Prime Rib. I can't say anything bad about that meal, it is awesome. The Prime Rib is some of the best I have had. One thing you have to try is the horseradish when you eat the Prime rib or steaks. They have awesome horseradish. Great time.

I've eaten here a few dozen times, mostly consistent, but my steak is cook differently every time despite the same order. Otherwise, the staff is very friendly and pleasant and the atmosphere is also quite nice.

Some of the best service I've had! Our server, Sydney, was exellent. The food was cooked perfectly as ordered. Two of my tablemates happen to be servers as well and they said the service was a 10/10. Sydney really paid attention to small details such as refills of pop when I didn't even ask for one. Overall, super good experience!

I had to give it fives across the board. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating to a large group of about 20. They had us seated and getting drinks immediately and even allowed us to forgo the "party menu" they usually put in place for groups. The food was delicious, and my top Sirloin with garlic mashed potatoes was perfectly done. It's a bit pricey, yes, but the atmosphere and service are worth paying extra for. OK, it's right by a hotel in a shopping district but it's not attached to the hotel and there is plenty of space. Perfect spot for a quiet (romantic even) night out.

This place is unequaled in HRM. Service is amazing, the food is perfect and the cost is reasonable for what you get. Cannot recommend enough.

Worst experience ever at the keg Dartmouth. We both ordered prime rib rare waited about 20 mins then kitchen manager came and told us there was a problem cooking the prime rib and it was only med rare and above. I said I would take it med rare but as pink as possible My husband ordered a different streak instead. Waited another 20 mins for our meal. Well the meat was completely cooked through. No pink at all. But I didn’t complain just didn’t eat most of it. Was waiting a long time for the server to come with the bill then she came to the table to say the kitchen manager was removing the prime rib from the bill. I said oh thank you so much I really didn’t enjoy it. Finally the bill came and there was nothing removed. I asked about it and she said they removed the prime rib my husband ordered but then didn’t get. Well of course you would remove that, why would she even say that. Just a disappointing experience and for the price you expect to receive a meal you are happy with. Can’t see we would return any time soon.

Very dark interior with very little natural light. The food was good, although their vegetables were undercooked and very hard. For the cost, this was disappointing.

As usual, another great visit to the Keg in Dartmouth Crossing. Food & service were great. Cannot recommend it enough!

I know prices are up but these make no sense re glass of wine or beer. Server brought our dinner, caution hot plate! Must have been sitting for some time as steak was well done (ordered medium) and double mashed potatoes were crispy on top.

I booked a table for 10 with 2 kids and 1 baby for a special event last night. I was very disappointed when i arrived that we were put in the bar area on a bar height table. I had asked for a high chair for the baby and had to keep asking as the server seemed to forget i needed one. She brings it over, and it is standard height.they do not have bar height baby seats, so I had to hold my 1 yr old the whole time. The service was very poor as it seemed only 1 section of our table kept being asked if they needed anything and the other side was left unattended. By the time we were ordering dessert, some of us were not asked if we wanted anything, and it got so late that we just decided we would get dairy queen instead. My husband had to go ask for our bills since we could not find any of our servers, and some of our guests had to leave, and my baby was beyond the overtired stage and was starting to freak out. I was just very disappointed that my reservation was so poorly executed since I especially told the person on the phone I had a baby coming to the restaurant. It's not the best environment for small children, I know this now and will not come back.

I actually had the Blakened Chicken with the Ribs and mushroom rice. The server was fantastic and knew I was struggling between to plates so offered to combine the two with no change in price. Love the Keg!

Love their beef, couldn't possibly get better table service.
The Keg used to be more upscale, though. I liked that. Now theres ballhats, pajama/ sweatpants, camo hoodies. Can't really blame The Keg for that, but.

Had the 24 ounce steak, not on the menu, and it was cooked to perfection. Great service and busy.approx 45 wait to get in. Food served in good time and hot. Highly recommend for a nice meal in a great atmosphere.

What can i say, simply the best Steak in Halifax and Dartmouth. Although I live in downtown Halifax, I will travel to this location for supper rather than the downtown location.

I visited this restaurant when it first opened and it was terrible, both food and service but decided to give it another try, so glad I did, wow!

The Keg is consistent and the consistency is what makes it worth the trip. The service is always top notch - the manager brought our wine and chatted for a couple of minutes, the server was patient and kind with our group of 7, and a whole team of fast moving hands delivered our food, topped up our wine glasses and cleared our dishes throughout the evening. The food was exactly as expected - my steak was cooked perfectly, between blue rare and rare, a somewhat unique request I'm sure. The Caesar salad was exceptional. One of our party got a Keg burger and left very happy. We had children with us who ordered off the Kids Menu and they didn't love the cheesy noodles but did like the chicken strips. For atmosphere I gave a 4 because we were a bit tight against two other tables but it wasn't awkward or loud when we were seated, just a little tight for some of our group navigating themselves out to the washroom. Unique to where we were sitting though - otherwise it was great.

Great service, great food. Expected prices from a steakhouse, but well worth it. Definitely book reservations as it will make your experience significantly better.

Didn't have want we wanted for dinner. The steaks we ordered had no taste to them. First time I'm disappointed in the Keg.

Our server, Blair is what made our dining experience memorable. Of course the food was good but the service was second to none. The culinary manager dropped by our table which, just enhanced the experience. I was so impressed with all the staff. The meal was wonderful. My husband ordered something from the feature menu, he was not a fan. The manager was so understanding. She took his meal off the bill. I was very impressed. The evening was wonderful. Thank you, so much. I do believe that Blair deserves a raise. I will definitely be returning.

What can I say The Keg never disappoints. Been to Montreal Keg restaurants but this was my first time in Dartmouth. Sat in the bar area and my server was Lisa, who was super awesome. She did a great job and helped me nail down some local establishments to try over the coming days of my trip. I'll be back to The Keg before I leave for sure.

Food was excellent but the server was a bit full of herself. We asked if they would sing happy birthday to our 5 year old son and she bluntly stated they don't do that at The Keg. And she said there are plenty of other restaurants we could go to that would do that sort of thing. She also said that's why she works at The Keg. Gotcha. Honestly The Keg has good food but it's no Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. So anyways, next time in Dartmouth we will go eat at Moxies or Jack Astors. Someplace where the actually care about their customers and aren't so full of themselves.

We had a rather large party that was welcomed with professional, friendly service. The food was delicious! What a great day for my Dad for Father's Day. Thank you for your smiling faces Amanda and Megan!

Although this isn't a restaurant I would visit weekly for take out night, it's a great choice for a date night after a long week! Great atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff. Although the food is a bit pricey for my typical night out, there's one key word I'd use to describe it: delicious.

I decided on the top sirloin, and my wife had the prime rib. Both steaks were cooked perfectly and seasoned incredibly. Both the mashed potato and twice baked potato side dishes were equally as delicious.

This place will leave you feeling bloated and stuffed, but in a good way! You won't want to put the fork down until it's all gone!

The restraunt was very busy, but it was the Monday after a long weekend. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. I got the vegetarian meatloaf and it was delicious! Softer than I expected, didn't need a knife. But it was so good! Will definitely order again!

The staff were VERY above and beyond, so friendly. The food was timely and it was extremely clean. Upon entering we were greeted by more than one employee and thanked upon leaving.

A standard Keg but with superior staff. We had guests in from Asia and the server was first class! Great food as expected, good wine although the selection could be a bit better. Highly recommended.

The bad:
Our food arrived prior to our drinks.
We ordered cocktails — they took half an hour to arrive and they weren't made well.
The "crispy" fried cauliflower was soggy — we've had this dish at The Keg many times and it seemed like the oil temperature wasn't high enough.

The good:
Friendly, funny server
Tuna tartare and french onion soup were delicious

This experience isn't typical for The Keg but I couldn't help but notice all of the one star reviews for this location.

If dining in Dartmouth I'd give this a miss and head to Mic Mac Tavern.

Celebrated a birthday there Saturday night. Was great! My first visit and I was very impressed. We were quickly served cocktails at the very busy bar and the atmosphere was just hopping! Lighting is perfect, it was warm, cozy and the staff looked to be enjoying themselves! That's a good sign that it's a great work environment and they are loving what they do! The group of us sat for a later meal, and had very attentive and fun service! Food was great, drinks kept coming and overall it was really enjoyable experience. It was refreshing! My dogs got some goodies too!

Beautiful environment, ample parking, great service and delicious food and drinks. What more can you ask for! Compared to the halifax location this store has a bit more of a casual environment, you could get dressed up or show up in jeans and feel comfortable in both. Has been extremely busy with a long wait (around an hour for 4 of us, nearly 2 hours for a table of 7) most times weve visited so if you know you're going I'd reccomend making a reservation! One of the main reasons I'd go here over halifax is for the parking lot, on the flip side my wait has always been shorter downtown. Bottom line if you're in the mood for steak or a higher quality meal this should be your obvious choice out of the rest of the resturants in the park

Nice new building with a spacious dining room. Keg standard menu. Pricier than I remembered but I think that's the price of beef. Basic steak is about $30. There are non-beef options. Servers were attentive and prompt. Food was good and nicely presented.

Service was excellent. Food was delicious. We had to wait a bit but it was worth it. I highly recommend.

All the staff were very attentive and got us everything we needed right away. Make sure you ask for the cheese butter for your bread-it is amazing!

Worst prime rib ever. 40% fat content. Shoestring fries at a steak restaurant? Come on now. I have had better casino $9.99 prime ribs. Had high expectations but they failed. Its the last dollar I will spend there. Paid over $40 dollars for the meal.

Waitress was wonderful and the food was great! The cheesy bread was SO amazingly garlicky and the steak was great. Burger patty was okay, but the toppings we're good so we'll pass it. Overall, really great meal.

The Keg is our family's FAVOURITE restaurant. Always the best food and service. However our experience here was not good. Very disappointed. My steak was over cooked and my sons was under cooked and of poor quality of cut. The twice baked mashed potatoes were so mushy insinde they were almost runny. The wine I ordered to arrive with the starter did not arrive at all. The restaurant is new clean and modern however the quality of food is very poor. The service however was cheerful and pleasant. I recommend the keg downtown Halifax or Moxies in Dartmouth.

Ordered well done steak.came pink.sent it back.came back pink again.i will never eat at the keg again.the cook should start with chicken nuggets then move on from there.

We were promptly seated. Our server explained specials and answered our questions willingly. At minute 10, we ordered Keg Classic Filet Mignon. Bread, salad was perfect. Then the steak came and was a perfect medium. Excellent experience.

We were greated by a very friendly host who asked us if we had been to the keg before. They also asked if we were celebrating any special occasion. This was our first time and we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We had our 4 month old with us and the staff enjoyed that she was there. All the food was amazing, especially the stuffed mushrooms and coated haddock. It is pricey but we would definitely go back for other special occasions. The staff was all so wonderful. They even surprised us and a free ice cream cake dessert.

First of all, we reserved a table the night before and still had to wait 20 minutes (if not more).
The lighting was so bad, my migraine started to kick in and I couldn't eat. There's a light bulb literally on top of ur head and glows straight to ur eyes on each booth. The music was so loud we couldn't hear the waitress. The only good thing about this place was our waitress Josie. She was great and I'm giving 2 stars becuz of her. The food's quality was good, but how can u eat with ur appetite gone? !

The waitress was friendly but the food was very expensive and very disappointing. I ordered a prime rib steak and it was very dry and flavorless, came with a dish of sauce that helped with the lack of flavor a little. Probably the worst steak i have ever had.
Gf had the top sirloin which was a bit less dry and a little more flavorful but still not great.
I can think of many other places to get a good steak for a better price. I doubt i will return here again. I don't like to pay outrageous prices for food unless its worth it.

Went for our 20th Anniversary.
Service was brutal from the time we walked in the door until we left, with the greeters and servers. Service was slow and didnt get what I ordered. Steak was small and shrimp was disgusting. Special was shrimp, steak and double smashed potatoes. The potatoes were baby potatoes cut in half and baked. Nothing like they described.
Took 20 min just to get a drink and almost an hour for our meal.
$140 later we walked out disappointed. Never again.

Was perfect just like most trips to the Keg. Had no issues with service, usually just sit at the bar, it's always open and they take care of you. Steak cooked perfectly.

Horrible food and bad service are the words I would use to describe this place.
Being a chain restaurant I thought it would be okay. Boy was I wrong.

We ordered the baked shrimp appetizer. $11 for 6 tiny shrimp. It tasted okay but I would never order it again based on the value.

10oz steak was almost 50% fat. Someone needs to teach the cooks how to trim.

My wifes baked potato was served to us black and burnt.

The person who sat us asked if we were there for an occasion I told them it was out anniversary but our server didnt pay us a bit of attention besides running by to quickly ask if everything was okay. I mean it would have been obvious it wasnt but she didnt care.

I would never come back here again and recommend you dont as well.

Forty seven minutes from time of ordering until bread arrived on the table. An additional twenty five minutes for our meals. No apologies from our very poor and seemingly inexperienced waitress. Luckily we have patient children-not sure if this experience is a result of a restaurant open less than a month or we just got assigned to the wrong table. Food quality was average at best with well above average prices. $12+ for kids meals-one would expect that the chicken strips were not dumped from a box! As long time fans of he Keg Steakhouse, this was an extremely disappointing experience.

My husband and I went out for our birthday celebration to the Keg in Dartmouth Crossing and were extremely disappointed. We arrived and were ushered to a table in the middle of the room and when we asked if we could have a booth instead we were told to wait in the stand in middle of the room where guests were having dinner. It was a very awkward 5- 10 minutes of waiting for the hostess to come back and usher us to a booth. At the booth the service began very well, and we were looking forward to our meal. We selected escargot, onion soup and 2 prime rib dinners. Bread was offered to us half way through the meal. The interesting thing was that as we were waiting for over 20 minutes for our appetizers all of a sudden another waiter came with our main course-weired and we told him we hadn't even had our appetizers. He apologized and I asked to make sure he didn't hold the plates for us but to ensure new plates would be brought out after our appetizers. Soup was good but escargot were not that great-mushrooms seemed old and the sauce was extremely salty and burnt-dark brown. When the prime rib came-the beef was perfect-except for the bake potato was cold and the Au Jus was red wine-there was no hint of beef flavour which should be from a beef broth.totally inedible. It was unfortunate my husband had pour his Au Jus over the prime rib before tasting it, and so his meat was spoilt. We did mention this issues at the time but nothing was done about it. We were so disappointed and went away hungry that I decided to let you know so you can correct the problems.
