The Lakes at Ben Eoin Golf Club & Resort

Good golf course with elevation changes. Walked the course for thee rounds and it was a bit of a challenge as a few holes have a steep climb to the tee boxes but certainly walkable.
Stayed in the cottages they are very nice, clean modern rooms with enough room for 4.
Stayed in the lodge for the final four nights and was not impressed.
Service is lacking and rooms are dated. Housekeeping doesn't refresh your room which was a bit of a disappointment.

Staff was very friendly and courteous. The course was in great shape and lots of challenges. Highly recommend this track to anyone and skill of all levels.

We started out in room 105. The shower check proved that it wasn't working. It is not a simple pull-down to start as detailed in the book. The front desk tried, and it still wasn't working, so we got upgraded for free to a chalet. Much appreciated.

Played here yesterday in wonderful autumn weather. Check in was smooth and the starter was amazing, and super friendly and glad we were there. Pace of play was perfect, and we (a twosome) were impressed with the layout and the quality of this course, it’s top notch. A few of the pins were a bit ridiculous, but the single golfer who passed us told us they had the iron man the day before and the pins were left over from that event, we didn’t mind, it was a fun challenge. We found the layout challenging but the course was in wonderful shape and I would highly recommend playing here. We played at brudenell and Northumberland and osprey ridge in the past week and this was number one or two but all the course have been great. Thanks to the lakes for a great day. We stayed here too and it was nice, quiet and good food. Well worth the trip!

I left a few clothes in their bathroom by mistake. And when I called them (same day I checked out) and said that I’d come and pick them up, they said they would call me when they hear from room service when they go to clean the place. One day passes, two day pass, three day pass, no one called me. I kept calling everyday but they never answered any of my calls. Finally on the fifth day, they answer my call only to say they didn’t find my clothes whereas I’m 200% sure of where I left my clothes. I don’t know what happened there but I’m very upset about this. I have to give a 1 star here coz I can’t go lower than that here but I would have given it a zero. Such an inconvenience!

Beautiful course with some great views of the Bras Dor Lakes. We'll maintained by a great grounds crew. Always a challenge to play so keeps your game sharp. Although don't expect a lot of service. Club has trouble retaining management and staff. Rates continue to rise and do not reflect the level of service.

We came to Ben Eoin from the GTA, on an Underpar stay and play deal.
Our stay was excellent. Firstly, the course is a fabulous layout, where many holes could be plucked out and made signature holes on any other course. Not a boring hole in any of the 18.
The elevated #6 par 4 is a real treat; gorgeous view of the lake and driveable from 150’ elevation.
The food in the restaurant was superb, served with East Coast friendliness.

Highly recommended that you make time to put this course on your list!

After our arrival we we very pleasantly surprised to discover we had been offered a chalet although we had simply booked a room in the clubhouse. The chalet was absolutely perfect; large living area, two bedrooms, full kitchen, and walk in shower. We were delighted, and walked across the parkade to enjoy a beautiful meal, served up by the delightful staff. Needless to say, any future trips we make to our childhood homes on Cape Breton will all include staying at the Lakes at Ben Eoin, wether we are golfing, skiing, or simply a visit for a relaxing vacation.

Boil water advisory was in effect and no one told me before I checked in and entered my rooms bathroom to find the notice posted on the mirror. No complementary bottled water provided either.

Letter was previously sent to Lindsey MacIntosh, GM - Expressing how extremely disappointed we were with the service provided with facility and staff when my daughter booked her wedding for Oct. 9th 2021a full year in advance.
Pre - booked the restaurant for 30 people for supper after the rehearsal. Guests were not allowed to order cocktails or mixed drinks. Wine or beer only.
Many of the people in attendance did not get offered dessert while the other end of the table was finished including desert. There were 5 servers in the restaurant.
Requested extra blankets and received the covers for the duvets.
Wedding coordinator did not introduce herself nor did she follow the arrangements that were put in place by wedding planner as agreed upon.
Day of wedding asked the bride what were the dinner plans? Day of the wedding?
Linen for tables received in a plastic bag and were so wrinkled that they could not be used.
Facility did not make anyone aware that the restaurant would not be open for breakfast service
Given the amount of money that was paid, I would never recommend this resort. To date no response from Management.

I am visiting and my good friends took me to the restaurant and I can honestly say I have never had such horrible customer service. It was like we were bothering them to look after us.
They need to change their attitudes and be polite.

We made reservations for Saturday night. When we arrived we discovered that a wedding was taking place. We were seated and immediately informed that four of the menu choices were not available "because of the wedding". Two of our four meals arrived completely wrong so two of us ate while the others waited for their meals to arrive. The food was good and our server was very apologetic but the overall experience was disappointing. We brought friends from out of town that were shocked at the situation. If the resort can not handle a wedding and the restaurant at the same time maybe they should consider closing the dining room when a wedding is taking place. There are no "unexpected" weddings so they should have been prepared.

It was my 1st experience in ben eoin's club. I really liked it and enjoyed. The rate of the ticket is 42 per person. I would like to go there again.

The resort and the service was top notch! This is our second trip and we will certainly make another trip back there with winter! We loved everything about The Lakes.

Challenging course with great views. Staff went out of there way to make this a great experience. Far from our previous disappointment with staff at Highlands links Resort.

The customer service was terrible over the phone. Spent an hour trying to get through, the guy was very confused about giving me a rate on a stay and play, and he ended up putting me on hold while I was speaking then hanging up on me. As nice as this place looks they need to work on their reservations line.

The golf course is a gem. Had a wonderful time playing with two course members, both excellent golfers. They had tons of expert tips on how to manage the course and that really enhanced the experience. Beautiful ocean views. Course is fun and challenging. Great addition to a Cape Breton golf trip.

Birthday dinner while a wedding was going on.they handled the evening like pros! Everyone enjoyed their meals, the elegant dinnerware, silver and service were much appreciated. Clearly the new owners get high end service with a warm and inviting atmosphere. We were here years ago and were hesitant about trying again. Glad we did. The golf round and dinner- 10/10! Definitely will recommend and we will be back!

- at 3 pm on the patio there was a group of middle aged chauvinistic men on their 4th round of drinks being obnoxious and smoking cigarettes and the servers said absolutely nothing to them. I'm pretty sure smoking on a restaurant patios is illegal in this province!

- when the smoking was brought up to the server when we left, they said yeah, the management allows it.also, they say the owners smoke on the patio as well.would I return? Doubtful.get new management!

The golf course is one of my favourite golf courses in east Canada, it’s well kept and the greens are true. The new restaurant had a great feel and, most important, good food. Well done!

Beautiful Chalets with more than enough room for two people. I've played quite a few courses in NS and I think this is my new favourite. The restaurant served amazing food and the price $230 for two rounds of golf and a night in the Chalet was beyond worth it. 10/10 would recommend

Great location, nice new place. We had a chalet. Quality appliances in a well equipped kitchen. Needs more than 4 place settings and better pillows.

This resort is just 20 minutes outside Sydney but you feel like you are hundreds of miles away in the best kind of way! Very well appointed chalets with amazing lake views at the foot of a challenging ski hill surrounded by a Graham Cooke designed golf course. Add to that delicious meals served in a lovely dining room with attentive service. It all adds up to a fabulous four season get away!

I and my wife spent last few days of our holidays in this resort. We had a great reception from Lindsey, who without any hesitation gave us a upgrade room.
At the front office Jared, a young student always had a smile on the face.
Ashley was there always to make sure that we were comfortable.
I will recommend this resort to anyone.
You have to have the experience.

Very professional outfit located in a gorgeous setting with knockout food to boot and located close to a major city

An overnight stay for a wedding. Not disappointed in any way. The venue was an excellent choice for the occasion. The meal was terrific. The staff helpful. The Chalets are new and very spacious and comfortable. Despite the fact a hurricane was passing through the area at the time I had a great view and felt very safe. All guests with whom I spoke where impressed and satisfied. The down side - expensive. The Chalets are not numbered which lead to some confusion and wandering around during a very heavy downpour.

Ok room, but expensive for what it is. We did enjoy the sea food platter served at the restaurant, but the breakfast was sub par.

I'm a Alberta resident born here in Cape Breton and golf a lot of courses good and bad. None of which were the price I paid here. $170 for 18 holes and a cart is absolutely ridiculous.
I can golf a course as equal as this for under $100 with a cart, bucket of balls and a $10 food voucher. The course itself is beautiful but the price is a little over the top.

A really great layout with gorgeous views from a number of holes. The course is very well cared for and the new clubhouse and cottages are beautiful.

Nice surprise to play this course. I'm from the GTA and play out of Avondale in PEI and this course was a really pleasant find.
I'm particular about the greens, their condition and fairness. And as you know, if you putt well, you score well.
I was aware that course had been a stop on the Canadian Tour and i have to say that this course exceeded my expectations.
I believe the sixth hole is the signature hole and it passes with flying colours.
Highly recommended.

Amazing golf course, beautiful views without having to break the bank, super challenging for all levels

Didn't have the best day personally, but always love visiting this golf gem on my favorite Island. Greens were amazing and course in fantastic shape! One of my favorites!
