I love this bar because it is obe of the coolest and most fun bars in Halifax. The vibe, staff and the decorations are all great. If you live in Halifax ypu should visit Tge local.

OG Fried chicken was very good, no premade patties or burgers here! Fresh ingredients and crisp flavours.
The Cowboy Caviar was cool and delicious.

I have been going here over a year now. All kinds of people, vibes and atmosphere to explore and make friends. Feels cozy!

This amazing place is perfect for hanging out with friends… it has two separate areas for people who are drinking and for people who are just eating… this separation allows enjoyment to both type of people involved.

Great spot to spend some time with friends, grab some great brews! (Horsepower!) And play some pool, listen to great music, and meet amazing people! Would highly recommend a visit if you're from the area, or just visiting for a weekend! Always some good shows in the basement too.

Pretty great spot, can't go wrong with the Local if you're just looking for some casual drinks any night of the week.

Best bar in Halifax, sooo casual and chill, great place for a multitude of activities whether you're celebrating, reading or just looking for a quick beer, it's perfect! Live music frequently and jazz night is a hit! Trivia is also pretty fun, staff are kind and interested

Unique, authentic, vibrant, and friendly. The Local never fails to deliver a fun night out. The food menu, though limited, is consistently on point. But the atmosphere is always the highlight.

This place really needs to work on the rat/mouse issue they have. I understand it’s Halifax and there are rodents everywhere outside but I really didn’t plan on seeing a gang of mice under the table I was sitting at. Considering there’s a kitchen in the place.

Pretty nice staff and looks really cool inside. Pretty loud but I think that's to be expected. Disappointed you have to pay to go in the basement. Didn't know that and was a bit confused because there's stairs you can walk down but you're not actually allowed down them? You have to go outside and then pay to enter? Little confusing, but overall nice staff and good vibes

Not a high class dive but if you are interested in cheap drinks while hanging with the coolest people then this is the spot. They have a small patio designed like a garden if you can find a table give it a try. If sitting inside turn your head and look up. You will enjoy the vintage decorations

Came in from out of town and was surprised with how rude the person at the front was. I'm not used to people being so strict about the legal drinking so seeing someone take ID's at the front was a shock. When my first of four friends took out his proof of ID and sat down for a drink my next and oldest friend (26) took out his Quebec health card the man at the front refused to let him in. After a bit of arguing with the guy at the front we ended up leaving and going to Gus's which was far more fun than this place seemed to be anyway. I would not recommend this place. Very rude. If your from out of town go to Charlie's, Gus's or anywhere else but this place truly made me have a horrible feeling during my vacation.

Went there to check out fat Sunday and was not disappointed! Didn't try the food but the drinks were great and the place itself is very cool! The Jazz band we saw were top-notch! Will definitely be going back next time we are in Halifax.

Cool place to enjoy delicious food, drinks and games like billiards and ping pong along with live music.

Sept 09/14 - Saturday, went there for my birthday! To hopefully enjoy drinks and food. Our server was the worst server i EVER had.it was 8: 15 pm and said food was going to take an hour, which was fine. While we were ordering he told us there there was many different restaurants close by that have great food and that he didn't understand why we would wait the hour. The service was embarrassing! We got up and left and will NEVER go back

Got out drinks then waited 1.5 hrs for the waitress to take our menu off the table and not ask our order. Had to flag down a guy 20 mins later just to pay our bill. Wanted to walk out and we should have.

I love the ambience of this place. Lots of seating indoors and out. Cool decorations, nice wait staff. I ordered the kombucha with gin, and the kombucha did not have much flavor. Also, the kitchen was backed up, so we didn't get our appetizers until we were done with our first round of drinks. I would still go back for the ambience and just be prepared for the wait and order a different drink.

The bar section was packed and the place had a nice atmosphere. The dance floor was pretty empty however. I prefer this location for live music over dancing, but I will say they do have the best themed holiday parties.

The food is subpar and you rarely get your first or second choice because they’re always out of what you want. They’ll also only tell you this after you’ve changed your order and have your mind set on on something else. The plants are the best part!

Just a great place to have a drink at any hour or day of the week. Lots of shows scheduled regularly.

Great bar! Got some nice live music and real cheap beer. The "Horsepower" is their house beer on tap and it comes to $3.75 with tax. Can you beat that? No you can't. You could stay home and drink the cheapest possible beer from the liquor store, but that would be a dumb decision. The food is tasty too - I tried the goat cheese and artichoke pizza with balsamic glaze and that was delightful.

The food wasn't bad. The service was not good. The place is beautiful! I would still come back.
