A lovely experience from
Start to finish. It’s just a shame we live in the other side of the world or we would be back tomorrow!

Excellent séjour. Très bonne situation: un très beau parc face à l'hôtel. Le Front de mer est proche, avec ses animations et ses musées.

Located infront of the Public Garden, minutes away from coffee shops, Pharmacies, restaurants and Halifax Citadel Park. 13 minutes walk downhill/ uphill from the harbor. Room is outdated. Wallpaper is pealing off the wall. Bathroom is tiny. Cannot fully open the door without hitting the toilet. Missing some wall plates. It’s definitely not worth the price.

Stayed 3 nights. Great location, friendly staff. Provided extras not in the room such as a shower cap, extra milk and creams for nespresso machine with regular coffee and no decaf. Sure the view is another building but we were there to sleep. Close to breakfast at Cora's, and/or Tim's and McDo's. A short walk down to the harbor front. Pick up from the airport is worth it when a flat rate taxi is $72 + tip. We would stay here again.

Elegant older hotel (1928) with refreshed rooms.wonderful service from the Desk to the Restaurant. Do have the seafood chowder!

Incredibly expensive for the quality of the room. The furniture is so dated that the char by the window has a big piece of wood sticking out that drives into your leg. The view (mind you no fault of anyone) was atrocious - it just faces another dated building. The bedding had a ton of gross stains and black hair IN it. I questioned if it was even clean. Not amazing.

If you want quiet - don't stay here! Between the noise on the street all night long and the parties in the halls after 1: 00 a.m. You can't get a good nights sleep.

Had an amazing experience in this hotel. Staff are very nice and kind. The hotel is clean and we got great accommodations. My fiancé and I fell in love with this hotel. We planned to elope in Peggy’s cove but when we saw the hotel we changed our mind to get married here instead. It was so worth! It’s gorgeous and our elopement was beyond perfect! Thanks to all the staff and management for making it possible. They are so sweet! I would come back here again if we visit Halifax in the future. I have nothing to say but good things about this hotel

Nice rooms, friendly service and nice view of the Public Gardens. They make the best nachos.

The Lord Nelson was a perfect spot to land after flying into Halifax for the first time. The front desk staff are incredibly accommodating and friendly, and allowed this weary traveler to do a very early check-in. The location is very central and in walking distance of all the downtown desireables. The rooms are comfortable, the petite room perfect for a solo traveler. Would recommend to anyone looking for a short term central stay in Halifax.

I often wonder whether hotel owners actually have ever stayed in the rooms of their hotel when you see all of the little details missing. Such is certainly not the case at the Lord Nelson.

A beautiful, well appointed room in a building that maintains its rich history. All of the small details are taken care of such as blackout blinds and convenient outlets throughout. A huge thanks to the friendly and accessible staff for accommodating us at the last minute.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed.
1, very small room.

2, Split ac was not working.

3, The Water kettle in the room was not clean. (looks like it was never cleaned after the hotel was opened)

4. There is no pool in the hotel, but they give access pass to nearby Ymca pool but the access was only for 10-15 mins, as they have other bookings for swimming classes. (no priority for hotel guests)

5, The breakfast was very bad.

6, No free parking for customers, they charged us 32 Dollers for 1 night, And they didn't even mentioned about this charges at the time of check in or checkout, it was deducted from my credit card, got to know after two days.

6, I never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Bad experience with front desk. Left hotel on morning of last day without checking out and realized i left something in room i needed. Phoned front desk and they assured me they would retrieve it for me and hold for my return. Come back 2 hours later and front desk says sorry but we forgot to write down your room number when you called so we didn't do it. ARRRGGGG.

I had to find the lady who cleaned my room and go through her garbage to get the item. That was fun.

Manager has stupid sheepish look when informed and wasn't helpful. He did mumble sorry so all good. Not.

For 500 bucks a night i expect better.

The Lord Nelson is a good place to stay. I was hood-winked into a $500 room that is a $150 room anywhere else but it was high peak tourist season and a last minute booking. That is how the cookie crumbles. Nelson is like staying in a museum. The structure is old and the brass plated elevators are funky. The dark themed hallways allude to the past of gas lighting. I'm not sure the decor is what modern travelers want but some designer person sold these people on a noire finish (9th floor). The Lord Nelson hosts a fantastic location in Halifiax with access to the waterfront, old pubs, modern food joints and public gardens, that's pretty cool. If you like old timey buildings and hotels, then you will love The Lord Nelson. The building holds a tradition and history steeped in time. Definitely worth a stay.
