The Narrows Public House

My favourite bar in the city. Super cozy, really good pub food; like pub food if it could get a Michelin star. It is always busy, but they are still able to crank out food and beer and good vibes like you are the only one there. Miraculous really. Good for a date, dinner with friends or family, beers with the boys, or alone at the bar with a book.

A true public house experience. We went for New Year’s Eve and it was such a great vibe. We felt like we’d been invited over to someone’s home for drinks. Would absolutely go again and again.

My meal here was lovely - I liked how they invite you in to loiter, while you wait for a table. Service was really friendly and pleasant.

It's a great pub, stop expecting it to be perfect for your vegan/vegetarian diet, that's not what pubs are. Food is amazing, serving size is great, highly recommend any burger, some food is different and not what I expected but not in a bad way. Wait time can get long but it's definitely worth it and drinks are available while you wait. Bonus: very family friendly. Atmosphere is a perfect pub atmosphere with two cosy fireplaces and dimed lights.

It's absolutely phenomenal! Stopped in for lunch after hearing nothing but good stuff about the Narrows pub and was not disappointmented. My server was excellent. They were attentive, friendly, welcoming, and quick with my orders. The atmosphere was super unique and cool. The food was excellent, I had the fried chicken sandwich, which was spot on. Definitely an absolute must try for anyone in the North End.

Tried the fish and chips and the fried chicken sandwich: 10/10! The food is great and the house is so welcoming and well decorated!

You can not skip this. It's a comforting embrace from a memory of how good it felt to be comfortable when you were young and a hope for how you will be in 30 years.

Nova scotia documents should have a watermark of their menu. They are the standard in Canada for hospitality.
It's my favorite restaurant in North America.

You walk in, it's a beautifully designed, rustic, familiar pub feeling. You taste the food and.it's extremely high-end flavourful and at a great price. I've been here a few times before writing this review and everything that has come out of this kitchen has been simply amazing. Everything is fresh, made in-house. Don't forget to try the toffee pudding dessert, you're missing out if you haven't tried this!

Amazing warm ambiance, maritime decor and very kind staff. The dark & stormy and the nigroni was really good. The fish sandwich/burger was good but the taters appetizer was really worth the try

This places rules, it's like a private cosy house but yer aloud to hang and party. Live music too.

The building has some much history and character. They did a fantastic job renovating it to make it such a intimate and unique environment. The service was great, beer and cider amazing, and the fish and chips were incredible. The batter was light and crunchy with a small bit of salt to add to the taste, and the size of fish was impressive. If you’re lucky enough to go during a cooking evening with live music, go! It just makes an already great experience even better.

I wish I had known…. Stopped in on our way to dinner for a few drinks. If I had known how cool and nice this place was, I would’ve planned to have dinner here instead. Great vibe, service and from what I can tell from others around us that had food, it looked delicious. Will definitely try to come back on our next visit to Halifax.

A really fun and cozy interior, with all kinds of eclectic and beautiful antique features and objects. Great wait staff, and the food was delicious. I really like the classic menu, and the care they take with the quality of the ingredients and their preparation.

This is hands down one of my favorite places to come unwind. The decor begs for you to look around and keeps you enraptured. Drinks are delicious and well made (try their g&t).

But the food is what takes the cake. I am making my way through the small plates and here are my thoughts so far:
The deviled eggs are angelic. The fried taters are crispy on the outside but pillow soft on the inside.you will not want to share. The potted smoked mackerel is a salty delicious treat. The chicken wings are yummy but trust me only take the made in house honey garlic sauce with them. If too sweet add some if the Frank's hot sauce to the mix. You won't regret.

Looking for a cozy place to enjoy amazing meals look no further. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good place in Halifax

Excellent dining experience. I had the fish and chips. It was absolutely delicious I can't wait to return. The service was great as well.

Great spot, delicious food and such friendly staff. I knew the home 50 plus years ago when it was The Home For Aged Men, amazing transformation and wonderful that it is now a Heritage Home. Decor is interesting, fun and historical. Must go again.

The fish and chips are worth a visit alone. The decor, historical feel, and pro service all support bang on food.

Very cool venue, exceptionally unique compared to other places in Halifax.

Very good food, unique menu. Service was incredible. They made a special non alcoholic mock tail for our friend upon request.

One unfortunate thing is that they don't do reservations. Was hoping to head here with my family that was visiting from afar but I don't like risking open seating for folks who travel from away.

That being said we went with a smaller group of local friends and didn't have an issue getting a seat. Just always nice to have that bit of security to rely on for larger parties/plans.

An absolute must-visit spot if you are in the North end! If you are looking for excellent food, super friendly staff, a great drink selection and an overall comfortable spot to sit and relax, this is definitely the place to go!

This may be the most inviting atmosphere I have experienced in the pub world. There is something nostalgic about the meals, the decor and engagement from the staff. This pub is a lively diorama of the east coast.

Great new pub with excellent friendly staff in a historic home in the northend. Great pub food. In all honesty an outdoor space is the only thing lacking and they are earning on that! Full 5 dtar when that happens!

Every dish and every detail is just spot on! The service is amazing and so is the vibe. Love this new haunt!

This place really lives up to all of the 5 star reviews! Dined here with friends for dinner and had a wonderful experience. I loved the broccoli and Brussels sprouts, the burger looked amazing, and the prices are excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Another 5 star review from me! Go for the food, the service, and their collection of antiques from Nova Scotian history.
