The Old Fish Factory Restaurant

As a tourist, you would expect to be treated with the upmost respect. That did not happen here. There was a sign for restrooms which was posted near the water and when I entered the establishment a man who I think was a gentleman didn’t ask if I would like to be seated said “can I help you with something? ” I told him I was looking for the restrooms which he was right in front of and he directed me to the “public” restrooms to which he gave me elaborate directions. I usually don’t post negative reviews but this was unsettling. Avoid.

If you are craving the ultimate Nova Scotian Seafood experience, this is the perfect place to come. Located in the picturesque town Lunenburg, this restaurant is located right on the water where the Maritime Museum is. There are so many seats located with a widow view of the harbour; absolutely beautiful

Our server was very knowledgeable about the items on the menu and guided us through one delight after another.

We had oysters, bacon wrapped scallops, hearty Seafood Chowder. It was all amazing!

There is plenty of street parking and a parking lot next door so it should be easy to come here.

Worst fish & chips I've ever had, it was 30% fish and 70% batter. On top of that, batter was raw inside. French fries could also be better.

We had lunch here during our stay in Lunenburg. The fish and chips were good, though the fries did not appear to be fresh cut. There are better places for fish and chips in town.like the Fish Shack.

Whenever I go to this place, I always order the fish and fish. Indoor and outdoor dining are both awesome and picturesque. Would recommend this place.

Enjoyed a late dinner at The Old Fish Factory after a 5: 30 - 8: 30 pm whale watching trip in Lunenburg. I chose them because a) they were open until 10: 00 pm - many restaurants in the area close quite early, and b) they offered a full steamed lobster, which I was craving.

We ordered the house chips with garlic aioli for the table and they were incredible, definitely get these. Each person ordered something dinner, including surf or turf options, but my gluttonous lobster meal definitely stole the show. Served with everything you need (bucket, bib, tools, wet wipe, drawn butter), the medium-sized lobster was delicious and decadent.

As a bonus we were seated next to what I think were some cast members from the upcoming "Dead and Breakfast" show (July 18 - Aug 5,2023 in the same building) receiving notes from the director or producer. They were having a good time and it sounds like it's going to be a funny show. If this restaurant is good enough for the Show Business crowd it's good enough for me: -D

Super nice wait staff. Excellent view of the harbour as the sun went down. Zero complaints. Great spot.

Friendly staff, the food was tasty and the lobster rolls were loaded! It was quite pricy - the lobster rolls did not come with a side, either - but overall it was good. The sweet potato fries were amazing!

There for a wedding. Party had entire patio area. Just a beautiful spot. Food and service were excellent. Highly recommend.

Nice restaurant right on the water (same building as fishing museum). Kitchen very slow but our server (Jacob I think?) was attentive. Kids menu mediocre. We really enjoyed the seafood dip and lobster roll. Pulled pork sandwich a bit too sweet but still pretty good. Fish tacos were ok, seasoning weren't quite our taste. Sat on the patio to enjoy the view.

The food is okay! The staff is extremely rude! When we asked to speak to the manager she was also condescending and rude and not wanting even to listen to our concerns. Very very displeased!

Amazing food and outstanding experience. We had a great view of the water and boats going by, the service is great and restaurant quite spacious with patio seating for those who prefer it (we loved the 2nd floor better given the hot day). Some of the other locations in the town had long lineups, this went quite fast probably because its located within the Fisheries Museum and not as visible.

The fish and chips was delicious with huge portions, in fact everything was quite generous. I know some have commented on it being a bit expensive but we did compare prices with a few other places with long lineups and did not find it more expensive. We also tried the Chicken fingers from the kids menu and for dessert ordered the Chocolate brownie with raspberry sauce and ice cream. The coffee was very good, they told us its a local store and you can buy it from them. They have free refills on the pop and coffee. Overall fantastic value for money and delicious food.

The lobster roll was delicious. We have to pay extra for sides but the sweet potatoes fries were worth it. They were out on a couple items on their menu due to supply chain issues but it was wasn’t a problem for us. Service was super fast. We were seated on the patio by the water. Amazing experience overall but a little bit pricey.

A good practical restaurant in old town Lunenburg, and really evoked the spirit of the sea. The wall decorations say it all! The staff were really friendly, service was efficient and the food was of high quality. We were all very glad we had lunch there.

We were table of 8, some paid tips and other who are not satisfied didnt pay, the waiter came to tell me why you didn't tip, What! Never happened to me before in my life! Tips is optional, i don't need to explain to him.but simply I was not happy the way they treated us when we first came in
I talked to the manager but she was the one who treated us in a rude way when we came in.food was good but this attitude was unacceptable

The food is very good, but the staff are very rude, we felt not welcomed from the moment we stepped in, we complained to the manager, but even the manager was not nice to us too

Great service, nice ambience. Worst fish and chips I've ever had. Undercooked and weird taste to batter. It was busy so maybe a 1 off but very disappointing.

Good ambiance, the servers were fantastic.

I was not happy with the fish and chips I ordered. The batter was thick and burny. The fish was flaky like it was defroze quickly. The oil has a stale taste, probably old (used many times.) The fries was good though.

Get the side of lobster tail - succulent and tasty, perfectly seasoned with a little olive oil and garlic. I had the scallops entree which was so perfect, fresh, great consistency and flavor. The crab-potato salad was more like potato logs with a generous drizzle of crab meat on it, which was an interesting and unexpected take on potato salad, but was unfortunately a little heavy on the oil so the crab didn't have it's characteristic consistency. Sean was the perfect server, giving frequent updates and being careful not to interrupt conversation. Overall, a delicious meal with a great view of the Lunenburg waterfront.

Great good, service, views and we even got lucky to experience live music on the patio! The crusted halibut was perfection

The food was good not very big portion. They did not have half their menu which was very disappointing. I waited an hour for my food which was an appetizer and 3 main meals for 3 people was making us want to leave.
The price is good for the food. We had to wait 20 minutes for a table which there was obviously several. A very frustrating experience in my opinion

Awful experience. Waiter had poor knowledge in wine and cocktail menu. Food was over-salted. Furthermore, I thought it is impossible to ruin broccoli and scallops, but their cook succeeded. Mussels were cooked in garlic oil rather than in wine and cream sauce, cream was absent just like some of the dishes mentioned in their menu due to ‘supply chain problem’.

The staff is very friendly and the good is delicious. Beautiful live music and a fantastic waterfront view.

Scallops and fish and chips were great, tacos were pretty bland. Took over an hour to get our seafood dip appetizer. We understood it was busy (2 bus tours), but tables who seated after us had their entire meals before we got our dip.

The waitress put us on wait list when there were free tables, never sent the text she said would send, when we came back said kitchen was closed when other clients were getting food served

The appetizers were wonderful! We had the calamaris, the seafood dip and the mussels and everything was great! We were really impressed! The main courses were a bit disappointing… fish and chips had way too much batter and was a little undercooked! Our server (Trish) was really great. Super nice, attentive and gave us a great service!
Overall, great service, great drinks, great appetizers! I’d recommend getting a couple appetizers to share, and you’ll have a wonderful time!

Little bit of a wait to get in and their system doesn't always txt when providing a cell number. Be patient, it's not the staffs fault!

Was there today for lunch. My husband had the double burger and fries and he said it was delicious. I and two others got the fish and chips. Worst fish and chips I have ever had, and I have had it many times in my life. The batter was very thick and not properly cook it was all mush inside and the amount of fish inside two pieces amounts to 1 full fillet cut in half, so pretty much all uncooked batter. Would definitely recommend going to another restaurant for lunch. The waitress was very friendly and gave us great service. Food was about a 1 out of 5 the only reason I gave it that was because the burger was good and the fries.
