The South Shore Fish Shack

Without a doubt the finest Fish & Chips we have ever tried. The batter is perfect and the taste of the Haddock is second to none.

If you’re looking for fish and chips this is the place to go. One of the best tasting fish in a long time, portion size for the price was great too. Not to mention the view, that always helps. Best part, the family four legged friend was able to join us on the deck as long as she was polite.

Strange ordering system and fries were too small/crispy for my tastes but the place is lovely, the view is great, the portions generous and the fish delicious.

Bacon Cheeseburger was awesome (according to my husband), seafood chowder was average (small portion and lots of potatoes). Otherwise - great service and atmosphere.

The view is the only good thing. Food was EXTREMELY greasy and very expensive for what they serve. Staff was rude. And to complete the experience, my husband had food poisoning after eat here.

Stopped by on a maritime road trip to Nova Scotia. Solid lobster roll and fish burger, fries weren’t too greasy and were crispy if you enjoy that. Menu is a bit pricey but food tasted great. Seating is all outdoors with a view of the Lunenburg marina and harbour, and only some tables have umbrellas, which is nice on a sunny day.

Great spot for a quick and easy lunch in Lunenburg! Fish and chips were huge portions, and the burger for non seafood lovers was awesome! I would highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Lunenburg!

We had a unique opportunity to meet Martin, who is the owner of this place. Honestly, the best fish and chips that I’ve tried in my life. And the cherry on top was the lobster. So delicious! Service was outstanding as well, they didn’t have what we originally asked for because it was not the season, but Martin went an extra mile and got some for us.

Nicely located restaurant with an outside patio and good views of the harbour area.good selection of seafood. A bit expensive but worth a try. All staff try to comfort each guest.there is only one restroom, which was very clean and tidy.

Food is so good and fresh, amazing service and great prices! Great view of the ocean overlooking the balcony definitely recommend!

Great service, fantastic views of the harbour, tasty reasonably priced food. Scallop pasta was tasty, half tower is cold seafood of yummy oysters and clams, good lobster and snow crab.

I ordered the fish and chips. All I can say is that they were fantastic and the service was great; sat on the patio and had fantastic views of the water. Highly recommend.

Atmosphere in this restaurant was lively. Food was delicious, my little children loved the fish and chips. The poutine was tasted great too. Patio had wonderful views of the harbour and we got to listen to live Acadian music while eating. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town.

You order at the counter and pay. They give you a pager and tell you that you'll pick up your order at that window. If you order drinks, you'll carry them to your table. Technically it's a self-serve system but considering the fact that almost every business in town is short-staffed as they're having a hard time finding employees, this system works just fine! They do have staff that they clean up tables after you're done and in our case we were asked if we needed anything else.

The two piece fish and chips ($17) was good but a tad greesy even though we asked for it to be crispy.

The Garden Salad ($8.5]) was fresh and crisp.

The Chowder ($12.95) had decent amount of haddock and potato but it lacked seasoning and there was a layer of oil on top (see photo.)

They had two beer on tap and the refill on sodas are free. The staff were pleasant and friendly. The view from the deck is awesome!

While the staff and service was really good, I had the lobster bun and it was super disappointing. They add arugula to the bun which really overpowered the lobster. That being said, the other items on their menu looked good.

On an evening where there was at minimum, 90 minute wait at every other place, the fish shack can really come to the rescue.

Simple menu - simple ordering system, get in line, place the order, pick it up, and either eat on their incredible patio or take it to eat somewhere else along the waterfront (seagulls are around to share if necessary)

The fish tasted fresh and the breading was not overly oily - the fries were a bit too thin for fish and chips fries…

They do offer you malt vinegar instead of regular, if you’re not having vinegar with your fish and chips…what are you even doing

A bit on the pricey side but if you’re reading this, you’re probably a tourist so…it’s the price of being one

Great spot for seafood, fish and chips were amazing and huge, definitely got a large order for the price and that small town outdoor dining experience with a view of the harbor.

The steam lobster was over cooked, service was great, the food took a long time to get ready and they had a very unique ordering process.

This place was great - I mean, depends on what you're looking for, saw a few reviews of people disappointed by the burger or the fact that deep fried fish is greasy, but if you want good, reasonably priced seafood, served fresh with nice staff, easy seating and a nice view, go here. Between our group had the fish and chips, scallops and lobster bun and they were all great. It's like fresh take out with a nice place to sit - I'd go back, and definitely recommend.

Cute spot, lovely view and delicious fish & chips! The biggest portion of fish I’ve had yet. The batter was light yet still very crispy.

The crab bun (no they don’t call it a crab roll here, was very good, although the bread part was nothing special (I only cared about what was inside). The portions generous, the kettle chips delicious.

I didn't mind the wait and I'll own up to ordering a hamburger at a fish place but it's small size was sheer lunacy. I placed the take out plastic container over the burger for size comparison and you can not see the burger under it. I went back to the window to ask if indeed this was the normal size burger and was told yes. And it was really over cooked and dry.
