The Wheel Pizza & Sub Shop

Yesterday, together with the family, we wanted to enjoy ourselves with something delicious and decided to buy a pizza from “The Wheel”, because the advertising works well.
After receiving our order, we quickly went home to have dinner.
But pizza itself was tasteless. (
I also did not like that the dough has a large side. The ham was not tasty and dry. But worst of all, after dinner, each of us felt discomfort and pain in the stomach and intestines.
That's why I'm writing this post and maybe it will help others avoid such feelings. The evening was ruined. Sorry for the money spent. I do not recommend this place.

The wheel has been around for quite some time, locals and university students alike love this place, food is always fresh, hot and quite good, wheel chair assable and lots of parking, eat in or take out, just can't go wrong if it's pizza your taste buds are looking for, keep up the great service Mike

This place rocks! Mike & his staff are great! Everything is so delicious! It's definitely my go to place for pizza (subs, donairs. I could go on & on)!

The wheel pizza shop is one of my most favorite shops in Nova Scotia.
It has the best tasting food smothered in cheese and Mike is an amazing person.

Everyone says The Wheel is the best. Now I know why. Incredible pizza. It made me very happy. It was perfect.

Tasty pizza, but literally every time we go here they make the order wrong. We get take out so don’t always notice until we’re home and sit down to eat. The person who takes the order writes it down correctly, but the pizza is never made to order. Even when we check the pizza before we leave we can’t always tell because some toppings are under the cheese. They’re also VERY light on the toppings even if they do remember to add them. Sauce and crust are good though.

Some places are better because they don’t change and this is one of them.

My family of 5 decided to try this spot as everyone wanted something a little different for dinner after a long drive into town.

Spaghetti - meat sauce was ok. Had a good kick, but tasted a bit greasy and like it had some canned tomato sauce in it or ketchup?

Lasagna - excellent flavour! Kid ate her whole plate and wouldn't share another bite

Pizza - chicken, mushroom, banana peppers - good topping coverage, good thickness on crust, nice and fluffy, well cooked. Generous with the cheese! (Although a bit on the lower quality)   Sauce was very good flavour.

Donair - very good sauce, lots of fresh veggies, meat a bit dry in a couple places, bread was too tough, but very good portions though!

Overall very good, especially for the price:) worth checking out!

Great classic pizza. This is an iconic pizza joint in the town. Heard it was closing, that will be a huge loss to the community

Definitely one of the better pizza places, if not the best pizza place in town. It is more expensive than some of the other pizza places, but the extra price does come with better quality. They have really good slices available very late into the night as well, which is suiting for its location. They do have sandwiches as well, but if you're going to The Wheel definitely go for the pizza. It does however have a very small storefront so it can feel crammed during busy nights, but I'd argue the unique exterior makes up for the smaller design

Never had the pizza yet but best donair in Canada! I've tried them EVERYWHERE else. No comparison.

Every time I come 'home' from out West, my family have a pizza from the Wheel waiting. It's such a treat and a strong hit of nostalgia for us when we come back. Tasty sauce, great crust, amazing cheese. Not the cleanest looking, but it tastes great!

Antigonish staple. North American style pizza that hits home. Unique crust and savoury toppings. It’s a must visit when in antigonish

Always dependable. A Unique Pizza that has been best in town for 40 years. Must-try is the lasagna.

Not sure if it's because I dined in late at night, but the pizza was not great. The crust is nice, but the toppings are meh. I prefer Kenny's, but some people definitely like The Wheel more. It has good atmosphere at least

Great spot after being away for 10 years. Reminds me of the university days.

The Wheel pizza has been the go to pizza place in Antigonish for decades, I remember going there with friends after school to have a slice of pizza and play music on the jukebox. There's no jukebox now, but it is the same great pizza.

Being a huge pizza fan and having tried every pizza place where I’m from (truro area) countless times, I’m not sure why it took me so long to try the famous wheel? !? It’s was good though! Had a lot to live up to but I can definitely see why people like it so much!

They put too much sauce on the pizzas so I'd reccomend asking for extra cheese to balance it out

Would probably come again but the common problem is probably race related, though Id say one reason not to like it would be thick cheese that seems cold if its not eaten right away

Some of the best pizza I have tasted has come from The Wheel. The Works, Pepperoni and Chesse or Donair Pizza here are second to none!

Choked on a long strand of hair because it was cooked into my garlic fingers. Great job wearing hairnets, I feel disgusted

Me and two friends came in for a 10” pizza and a donair, we paid for both yet after waiting 20 minutes after the pizza we asked about the donair, they told us we didn’t order a donair even though we paid for it. At this point we had been there for 30 minutes and we didn’t want to argue, so we just left. Super disappointed considering we paid for both and only got the pizza.

Greasy, tasty, cheap. Pizza flops like the final scene of Boogie Nights. End of the day it's still a good zza. Highly recommend the people watching at 130am on a Friday night (unless you're over 40, then that's just creepy).
PS over 50s there's stocked game and garlic bread.

This is my favorite pizza but that may be because I grew up with it. Awesome bready dough, sauce, thick cheese, and quality toppings. It's like NYC pizza but there is more of everything. Pricey but you get what you pay for. The subs are good too but the sub beef could use an upgrade.tough and low end.

Honored to be able to say i grew up with this staple pizza place. I have a hard time enjoying anyone else's pizzas and donairs now.

Its just never the same as Mike's

Ordered a pizza slice. Crust was paper thin and under baked. Way too much sauce and toppings made pizza impossible to eat. Disappointed especially since I've enjoyed their pizza on past visits.

Delcious as always. We live in New Glasgow and go to Antigonish for pizza, it's seriously that good!

Not even close. I love pizza and this is by far the best and I mean the best pizza in Nova Scotia! I had 3 previous pizzas just this week in Ingonish, New Glasgow, and Sydney, and 5 in the last 9 days and this is by far the best! The cheese, the crust, the sauce, and the toppings are delicious. Truly amazing pizza.

When I first tried this place years back, there was no hesitation on ever not going back. This is by far the best and the most packed food you can buy for your dollar. Recommend this place. The pizza and donairs are amazing!

Was passing through Antigonish in September. Didn't fancy eating at the hotel so ventured down the street. Saw this place and thought - "I'll try it". SO GLAD I DID. Had one of their subs and compared to the more traditional 'sub' outlets, THIS one was SUPERB. Had to wait a bit longer for it - but the wait was WELL WORTH it. Cost was VERY reasonable considering the product.

An hour for donair on a Friday night. Pleasant staff. It's the go-to place and very popular with the locals, especially for take out.
