True North Diner

North Star Diner is a cool spot to go but can get very busy. Wait times for food are a little long which is why it's a 4-star in my opinion.

Overall the food is fantastic I had a Turkey clubhouse and home fries. I highly recommend the home fries they are delicious.

Now let's get down to the big thing. Bathrooms they are clean and you should use them.

So so helpful. Our camper broke down on the way to getting some pancakes. Luckily we were able to stay in the car park. The staff at the diner were so helpful with us whilst we had to stay there waiting for the tow-truck! They refilled our water bottles, allowed us to use the bathrooms and told us that if we need anything else we should just ask! They even gave us a banana split for free which made us feel much better

As well as the food being good, it was very reasonably priced!

But, the staff were excellent. So helpful and accommodating. They let us fill up our water and use the bathroom throughout our ‘stay’ in the car park.

The place looks run down and needs some TLC. My wife said womans washroom was gross. She hated her food and mine was just ok. Prices are high for such small portions. Service was friendly.

We've been here a few times now and have never been disappointed. As soon as you walk in, it's easy to be captivated by the old fashioned diner vibe! The food is always on point, and their milkshakes. Well, they speak for themselves.

Just wanted to confirm if anyone at this restaurant knows the word "service"? I ordered takeout there and arrived right on time, and after a waitress told me to wait for one sec, they literally just ditched me there for half an hour with no one answering my "hello? "s at all.finally a waitress came out and confirmed the name for the order, and turned out that the food's been long prepared and just left at the counter all the time till it's cold now.that's just messed up service and I will never be here again!

Little gem of a restaurant in Bedford. Hot turkey sandwich tasted just like turkey sandwich day after Thanksgiving dinner. Will definitely be back to try some other dishes.

Really nice. Burger was excellent! If they made home made fries you would need to make a reservation! Will be back to try the fish!

Good food, good prices, decent service. Fun to see an old 1950s style diner set up. Will return and would recommend.

We had four different servers for just a table of two which made for a very awkward experience two of the four servers were in really bad moods, our orders came out wrong and we had to wait for new orders which was not surprising when you have four servers, hamburger buns were stale and crumbly, like old wonderbread hamburger buns from the dollarama should of been thrown out, fries were soggy everything was very bland no flavour what so ever, small burger dry and spiceless like plain fried beef in a pan, an all around bad experience, 2 stars for the place looking fantastic and the big red booths but that is where anything good ends, truly a shame and waste of potential.

The restaurant is so cosy and comfortable. The service was outstanding. My favorite place to eat.

Had a good meal the first time so we went back next day. Friendly staff and good food. Prices were very reasonable. Very happy we stopped.

Arrived on Sunday for brunch in a group of 20.
Was ignored by waitress in the beginning. They were more interested in chatting with each other than paying attention to their customers.
Had to beg for coffee and cream was used up but no one noticed…
All in all, the food was 3 star and the service was very poor!

Amazing and fun playing NAME THAT TUNE while eating lunch (excellent fish cakes and baked beans) in the familiar 50s style diner was so much fun for the wife and I.

I love coming here, it’s a great place for a breakfast or brunch date. Me and my Fiancé like the western toasted sandwich and the all day breakfast plate. The service is always so nice.

Atmosphere is good, but the food not to great. I had a club sandwich, quite small for the price and the fries were not that good. Milkshake was good however. My wife had a western sandwich that was not too great. We had not been there for some time and after this meal it will be a long time before we go back if we do.

We share a birthday lunch yesterday at the True North Diner in Bedford and were very pleased with everything on the table. The server was courteous and pleasant. The birthday girl really enjoyed her party. Thank you as we had to wait for some of our friends caught in traffic.

Used to be a regular here with my daughter, we would stop weekly for lunch on the way home from riding our horses. Almost always had the meatloaf, with rice pudding for dessert- so good!
Then COVID hit, and I moved away, so we hadn't been there in at least 2 1/2 years. Walked in, and our regular server recognized us, and gave us a delightful welcome. Of course it was meatloaf and rice pudding again, the best comfort food. Good to be back!

Only giving a 1 star because I can't give a zero star. Experience here today was horrible are waitress got everything my wife and I ordered wrong. We waited over a half hour for are starters. When we got are starters my salad we soggy and my wife's onion rings where burnt. Then we got are main meal 4 mins after we got are starters. The meals where both cold and had to try for over 10 minutes to get are waitress attention to tell her are food was cold. Then had to wait another 20 mins for fresh food. Then had to wait another 45 minutes for are bill to leave. The experience here today was and will be are last time here.

We ate in, and just really wanted a quick snack, hubby had the wings, I had bruschetta, it was good.
Hubby said the wings were nice and meaty, the bruschetta could have been hotter and more of it the topping was a bit skimpy.

Awful food. Burger was tasteless and bun was so dry it kept falling apart. Worst burger me and my wife had in a longtime.

Great staff, laid back atmosphere and a great restaurant for families of all ages. Good food, was a bit disappointed with the pies, but otherwise always a great time eating out.

The chicken fajita burger is really good. We had onion rings that came with cajon mayo sauce. We used that sauce on everything!

Most of the food here is pretty decent and cheap. As someone else pointed out, the club sandwich is miniscule, which is ridiculous because it's one of the more expensive menu options. Fish cakes, meat loaf, and turkey dinner are all reasonably priced and a good portion size. Chili cheese fries are a great appetizer. The club sandwich is a total joke, which is an extra fail because a diner of all places should have a decent club and fries.

I travel all around Nova Scotia and I stop in there on Sunday Jan 23 2022, and I must say was the worse meal that I head in long time. I ask for the special witch was pot roast and when it came 4 little pieces meat of the 4 2 where all fat potatoes where just warm I would not go back again what you got for the price was good good.

Love the feel and had their turkey dinner.was good.would have been nice to add peas to the dinner.

Classic food, great atmosphere. Live music. Staff was friendly and polite. If you looking for a Mike shake, this is the place.

Always delicious and the kids love it. Visited here on 16th October to find live music playing the classic songs from the 50s/60s Era. First live music I've heard in over a year and a half. Great experience.

Had cornbeef and cabbage all my veg were cooked separate from each other and the cornbeef. All separate and given a 1/4 cup full of juice to pour over it for flavour. Was tasteless will not go again

Picture on the menu was way better than the actual food. Went for burger week to help out by supporting the restaurants that participate in this program. Unfortunately this restaurant only wants the money and the advertising that comes with this program. Will not be back. Horrible burger. True North Garbage should be their name.

I like it, but my mother loves it. I'm a momma's boy and I like making my mom smile. Anyplace that does that is aces in my mind.

The food was pleasant, although I felt as though the staff were rushing to close the doors, and we were expected to hurry along. The sheer size of the place makes it feel much less like a diner experience and more like a restaraunt with diner decor. No jukebox but that's understandable with Covid precautions at the moment. Overall, it's not a terrible experience.

Buns were stale; bread was stale; lettuce in the salad was literally frozen; only option for vegetables is mashed carrots and turnip; fish and chips is gone from the kids menu; the music was skipping; there was a lightbulb that needed replacing and kept flashing randomly. The burger is still good and the clubhouse is fine. The staff are friendly at least.

Decent for diner food. Burgers are good. The club sandwich is also pretty tasty - lots of bacon. Don't order the nachos, the are tiny and not worth the $15.

Showed up 15 minutes before they closed and were going to leave. They couldn't have been nicer. Enjoyed our meal without feeling rushed.

Friendly service. Fast to bring the food out. Good prices. There are only 2 vegetarian options - nachos and quesadilla - which aren't meals as such. With all the burger and hot dog options surely they could do a veggie burger or veggie sausage. I ended up with onion rings and sweet potato fries! (which were good). I am not criticizing them as such because hey it's a cheap diner, all I am saying is that if you are a vegetarian your options here are limited.

The burger was delicious, the service was great and we split an awesome, custom made mocha shake.

Great service, friendly staff and delicious food. Barely a wait time from kitchen to table. I found that lighting to be a little dark and we sadly couldn’t experience the full 50’s theme due to COVID (many amenities like jukebox and bar area closed). Still a nice experience and would highly recommend. Simple menu and affordable prices.

I eat here on a regular basis curry chicken pasta was delicious today. My wife had the chicken ceaser and my daughter had the cheeseburger with fries which they enjoyed.

I want to thank True North Diner for their excellent food and service and making our Canada Day 2020 a huge dining success for accommodating our family with professionalism and welcoming attitudes! Thank you True North! We'll see you again!

Expensive for a diner, but a truely great diner experience. Their milkshake program is a fantastic idea and good for frequently enjoyed tasty treats. Would recommend the milkshakes over the food that I've tried so far.

Good experience, in my personal opinion the food isn’t the greatest tho. But that’s only my personal preference. I don’t speak for everyone.

Good quality home made food. Left full and satisfied. I had a Turkey clubhouse and my partner had a cheese burger. Both very tasty.coleslaw was incredible tasting!

Amazing old fashion restaurant. Amazing shakes and burgers. Wish the menu had more options though. But the food is great!

Milkshakes are Fantastic!

I love this diner and have for years. However, the food this time was just alright! The pancakes could have been cooked longer and the scrambled eggs tasted like fried eggs.

I ate at the true north dinner before and had a completed and splendid meal and time there. Not many things to say are wrong about a Bedford beloved retro diner! (:

Food was ok. Not very flavorful. Customer service was great. Bathrooms were not very clean. Needs a little work. Over all not bad but I would not go out of the way to recommend. Live singing talent was really good. A few songs sounded just like the original artist.

The chips french fries were more like wedges and slightly burned. The cheeseburger I ordered was significantly more likeable to me. The vanilla milkshake is as always to die for. Delicious!

The true north diner is a great '50 experience for the family, their milkshakes are very good, and the food is great as well. The people there are also very friendly and kind.

Read great reviews, went to check it out with a friend. We ordered two ultimate cheeseburger combos.one with fries and we upgraded for the onion rings for the other one. 3$ for the rings gave us 6 undercooked, cold, onions rings.so disappointed.the burgers had no flavour the meat was super dry.we had to
drown it in the onion ring mayo sauce.the fries were good though.way overpriced.not worth it at all.it cost 40$ for the 2 meals.left unsatisfied and upset.staff unfriendly.

Underwhelming frankly. Friendly staff, broad menu are pros. Food temperature, amenities and sound were cons. I’d likely go again but there are so many laces to try out!

I love this diner; solid portion size, quick service and great milk shakes. The other popular chicken based establishment in Bedford may be older but True North is where you want to go with the family or take the team for a solid diner experience.

Omg y’all the Peggy burger was so good, great beef w good flavour, the triple cheese burger was good but not as good as it rival which won out. The poutine was good except for they didn’t use beef gravy but I’m just being picky now. I love the atmosphere, family friendly and the giant gum ball machine! Lots of seating and no wait. Definitely will come back here:)

Other than our server, this place was disappointing. My boyfriends fries tasted like they were cooked in week old oil, my shepherds pie was a pool of grease, not appetizing at all. The saving grace was the milkshakes and the servers attitude.

Not my first visit to True North Diner nor will it be my last. A step into the past with reasonable priced meals and good old rock and roll music. Great atmosphere and daily specials with a great manager in itself enough to entice you back.

The food was mediocre and the waitress was completely uninterested doing anything more than taking our orders and bringing our food. Felt a little as though we were annoying her by being there.
