Went out for a work lunch and we decided to go here. I was not disappointed. I had the beef arepas and it was delicious. One of the best sandwiches I've had in the area. Prices are also reasonable for the quality and portion size.

The restaurant itself was very clean and had a relaxed atmosphere. Overall, a great experience. Will definitely be coming back again sometime.

Haven't eaten as juicy an arepa before. And being a first-timer to Halifax trying out the (pork) palacone (a sandwich with fried plantain as bread) was a mind-blowing experience.

We also got a chance to meet chef Eduardo, and he know he's the best. The burst of flavours on my palate is going to stay with me for a while.

Favourite place for lunch in Halifax. Everything here is amazing and the service is incredible. I had the pork arepa and was not disappointed. I usually stick with a favourite menu item at restaurants but I am determined to try the entire menu as everything is phenomenal!

Visiting Halifax and made our way to the end of Hollis St. Had seen reviews while searching the area online and Glad we found them. Tried the braised beef patacon and mushroom & havarti empanada melt - both were fabulous! Looked a bit small at first but quality food so satisfying.
Note: they close earlier (perhaps for catering) so *check the time.you will NOT be disappointed.

The best Latin food in Halifax. There’s no tacos like these anywhere else in the city. So good!

Stopped here on a lunchtime walk while visiting Halifax in May. I ordered two empanadas - one black bean and one pork - they were way bigger than I anticipated and I could not finish both. So tasty! Friendly staff. Would like to return to try more menu items.

Lovely delicious Mexican specialties. I only wish I’d known it sooner. It’s a tidy, pleasant breakfast/lunch place. I also wish it were bigger, had a bar, and had dinner. My new favourite lunch. This will require self control not to go all the time.

Shared patacon, a chicken arepa, and two empanadas between two. The food was delicious and filling.

My first time having patacones in Canada! Absolutely delicious and reminded me of my time in Central America. Will 100% be back

This was the best restaurant we tried in Halifax! Amazing food there were 4 of us and we all had a fabulous meal. And the owners were so attentive and kind. Would come every day if we could!

I ordered Patacon.
It had roast beef, special sauce and some other stuff. It was a Venezuelan dish.
I loved the way which they take orders. You would a qr code at the table and order by scanning it.

Verano is Halifax's top spot for homemade empanadas. Trust me. What sets them apart are two things: excellent portions and mouth watering fillings (16 Hour Braised Beef, Black Bean and Queso fresco, Chicken Tinga - just to name a few). This is a uniquely wonderful Mexican and Venezuelan restaurant experience that, from what I can tell, is family-run. Dine-in or order as the perfect grab-&-go snack, you won't be disappointed. The only downside is they're not open on weekends.

I’ve loved every single dish I’ve had from here, but the chilaquiles and pork patacon have to be my favorites. Delicious food every time, and the owners are so lovely!

Omg this place is delicious. The food is made to order not made in the morning so allow extra time or order in advance. Tacos, empanadas, patacones and other stuff. Seems to be venezuelan.

I've been wanting to try this place and I definitely was not disappointed. My friend and I both tried the empanadas (1 black bean, 1 mushroom & 1 pork) and they were incredible! I am absolutely looking forward to taking my husband and trying some other menu options. Do yourself a favor and stop by and grab a bite. They are amazing!

The food is crazy flavorful and delicious. The food has a lot of flavor and is delicious! This is the place to go for hearty breakfast, brunch, lunch and even takeout! This is the place to have a filling breakfast, brunch, lunch, and to-go.

Excellent service, location and food. I ordered chicken Patacon and tequeños. Everything was delicious and the staff was very friendly.
