Vines Pasta Grill

This is the champion buffet restaurant in the Halifax Community Vote. There are seven different kinds of pastas with salads and soup. The buffet is only available on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Therefore, it's lucky to meet my favorite pasta here today though I didn't get it on the Saturday before. In addition, the service girls here are quite considerate. It's pleasant to have a dinner here with tasty foods and them. For summary, it's excellent for me to have a great dinner here tonight.

Excellent food and service. While entrance is not appealing - don’t be fooled! Food and service is exceptional. Had the shrimp and scallop flambé - delicious. Followed by the After Eight cheesecake - service is top notch!

Had a wonderful meal at the November Taster's Night early sitting. Food and service were top notch. The only thing that ruined it was the fact that it was so COLD! I hate eating with my coat on.

The food was exceptional. While it would be a bit expensive pre-pandemic perhaps, post pandemic it is very reasonable. When you compare it to other restaurants in the pandemic era, the quality and the generous portions left me pleasantly shocked. It was a true gastronomic experience. I will most certainly be returning when I am in the area and perhaps even try dining in to experience the ambiance. If there were 6 stars this would most certainly qualify.

Had a horrible experience at Vines this evening, November 24,22. Our first visit during winter months though. Prior to this, it was summer visits. It was so bitterly cold in the attic or top floor. Different patrons, was complaining and laughing that there was no heat. The waitress said, it was an old building and takes time to warm up. After an hour and more complaints, they brought up two old inefficient heaters. They did not suffice as three candles would have been just as adequate! Not being sarcastic either. Two and a half hours there and froze to the bone. Never removed winter jacket. Subsequently, this area should be closed off if not heated.
Home now, in front of heat pump, 23 degrees with two bean bags, winter coat, toque and sipping on hot tea to try and warm up my internal temperature! The food was just okay and I wouldn’t suggest it to anyone! A disappointing almost $100. Indeed, a disgruntled patron!

Love this restaurant it is our favorite.staff friendly and pasta is home made. We go there for every occasion

The menu was fairly priced. The staff were super friendly, even to our 5 and 3 year old. Made our dinning experience relaxing and comfortable. The food was absolutely unreal. Everyone LOVED their meal

Excellent service and the food was fantastic. The Salmon special was delicious! A delightful cozy atmosphere inside as well. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Amazing dinner service and atmosphere. Our waiter was outstanding and the food was outstanding.

Here is where I struggled with this. I really wanted to like this dinner as it was to celebrate two birthdays and mothers Day. I'll do this in two parts. I'll start with my positive.

The server was top notch. Very personable, very attentive, very informative and just made the experience great. Everyone at our table commented on how great he was and how he enhanced the experience.

Sadly my meal was sub par and I wouldn't even have given it a three star rating. I'd ordered Cajun fettuccine as I was excited for the chicken and sausage combo. I portion my food at home so would estimate that there was about an ounce of chicken breast in the whole dish (this was made up of 4 small bite size pieces of chicken). There was about 6 pieces of sausage to compliment the 4 pieces of chicken. The noodles that came were penne noodles and not fettuccine noodles. The serving size would have been adaquate for a ten year old and for $23.00 this fish just fell way short.

Based on the service I'd say it's a great experience however based on the meal and the quality of the meal I'll stay home next time and just add some seasoning to a can of my kids canned ravioli.

As for all my reviews this is my experience. You may find it very different from mine and that's ok. Lots really like the place and it's been around for many years. I wish them continued success.

I was there with my family on Mother's Day, a table of 8. We were told at the time we placed the reservation there would be brunch as well as regular menu. The only option we had was an 8 option menu that we could choose one item from, whether it be fried chicken and waffles to an omelet. There was no open brunch set up nor regular menu. It took us over an hour to get our food. The sausage was missing on one plate once received it was burned on the plates of both people that ordered it. Three of us order chicken and waffles, they were all overcooked and dry with a battered rock hard, another ordered an omelet which was burned on the bottom. When brought to the attention of our server the food that was not prepared properly was replaces, even though some of declined to have the food replaced and opted just to finish our fries and waffles we were told they would bring it anyway and we didn't have to eat it if we didn't want to. The omelet was replaced and again burned underneath. Whole wheat toast was not available nor could we get an English muffin that wasn't buttered. The icing on the cake if you will.the server was inappropriate in his handling of the service to our group, with all of the mistakes, the poorly prepared food etc we barely received an apology. Over $300 spent on breakfast and over 2 hours to do it. First time at this establishment and probably won't return.

First time I ate there they got my order wrong I wasn’t a big deal. The second time I try to order no one’s seems to answer the phone I called multiple times. Two lack lustre experience’s.

Wow. For the price, the service, ambience and food are all pretty phenomenal here. Loved everything!

Really tasty pasta. One of the best in HRM. The service was a bit slow but nothing to worry about.

Amazing food and drink, friendly staff. They opened the upstairs dining for us early and it made the first half of our date night feel a little more private and intimate having the entire room to ourselves for about a half hour. Not over-priced, but a little more than the average restaurant, however, the quality of food and service is worth the few extra dollars.

Terrific meal and menu selection. Service was impeccable despite being short staffed. Will be returning.

My wife and I went here a few weeks back, and we were very impressed by everything from the food to the staff. Before we were seated, I bumped into a kitchen staff, and I asked for a recommendation. It's definitely the best meal we've had in a long time

I went to Vines Pasta Grill for the first time last evening. This review is for our server FAITH, she deserves ten stars for her customer service. She went way above and beyond. THIS REVIEW IS FOR YOU FAITH.

Staff was excellent, however restaurant was very warm (guessing high 20s), but we were on the top floor of a warm summer evening. Food was not bad (7/10) although caesar salad was 10/10.

They are more than happy to tweak an menu item. Service was spot on and the food is always great.

There food is so fresh and high quality. Serves was very well done. The restaurant size was perfect so it didn't feel like you were to close to other ppl.
I can't wait to eat there again!

This place is 10/10 delicious! The Caesar salad is to die for as is the rest of their dishes! It even travels well for take out all the way to Hammonds plains.

Have always loved it here, from dine in to take out. Vines has looked after us for years. Awesome food choice, quality and portion. Their known for their dinners, but they have amazing breakfasts as well. How about this? Stop reading my review and order something for yourself. You'll be glad you did.

What a beautiful place friendly staff great food most enjoyable,
would be nice though to have a patio with all that great view you guy's have, you have the space to do it hint hint keep up the good work guys.

For one person, the total came to almost $65, the food was horrible, extremely small portions, tasted like microwaved frozen diner, bread with no butter, no utensils & overly priced.

Always amazingly delicious. I love Vines because it's quality food and they never skimp on quantity.

Delicious as always! Highly recommend Taster's Night (last Thursday of every month). You get a nice mix of their menu plus some additional dishes. Always a pleasure!

The Vines is simply delicious pasta. The specials are always solid, the Vines pasta is so so good. The Alfredo! The Ceasar salad is a garlic lover's dream and I'm salivating thinking about it now.

So many solid choices, you likely won't be disappointed.

As a couple of young families, however, we were also thrilled with the Vines accomodation and patience with us. Three toddlers and an infant, means we're a little noisy, a little distracted and definitely messy and our server treated us with total respect and patience.

The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the staff was very friendly and helpful. However, I ordered the pasta buffet and was very underwhelmed. The flavour combinations were strange and I felt that the buffet was pretty pricy for the quality. I may go again and try something off the regular menu, but I definitely didn’t feel like I got my money’s worth and was pretty disappointed after this experience.

Went for Sunday brunch with a group. Every coffee cup on the table was dirty. Table was not set properly, no napkins/serviettes, cutlery was dirty. Selection of food was pretty good. It was all very average. Should have labels on food that looks alike, but is different. Way overpriced for a brunch.

Had the Vines pasta and soup of the day. Chocolate decadence to finish. Nice muted atmosphere.not real busy on a Tuesday night. Great service and great food. Great place for a relaxing paced meal quiet enough to have a good conversation.

I would recommend this restaurant. We reserved the upstairs room for a surprise anniversary supper. The food and service was amazing! We will be back for sure!

The Vines is lovely and nothing short of amazing. We had worked with them for our wedding and were amazing by their generosity and how amazing the donuts were. We cannot thank them enough for making our wedding day do much more special!

We had our wedding reception here. Delicious food, all of our guests loved it and as the bride I was treated like a queen! We Came back for our anniversary and were surprised with a brownie (on the house) at the end of our dinner. What can I say, this restaurant holds a special place in my heart.

We found this wonderful restaurant while searching our new neighborhood the day we moved into our home. We were ravenous and exhausted and couldn’t believe our luck to find a gluten free Italian pasta place. Carbs!

My husband had a birthday get together for me at the Vines fairly recently and the service was excellent! The food was delicious, as always, and it was a very enjoyable gathering space for us.

My favorite restaurant in Dartmouth. The Sunday brunch buffet is absolutely incredible! A hidden gem and a must try - the service and the quality of food is top notch!

Wide variety of food at the buffet. Lots of itallian meat, pasta, breakfast items and desserts to chose from. The quality of the food is good for a buffet. The inside of the restaurant is far different from the exterior, the inside fitting a fancy itallian vibe with waiters in suits and Christmas music and decorations that began too soon in my opinion. All in all a good experience, and if you can fill your belly with enough meats and desserts to account for a 23 dollar price tag you will leave happy too.

All four of us had the caesar salad, the lettuce felt wet and the dressing was bland, except for the excess of garlic. Four hour later we were still trying to get the garlic taste out of our mouths.
One of us had the rice balls, which they found to be very tasty and filling.
Overall? Would we return, probably not.

Outstanding breakfast buffet. Not huge, but everything is quality with zero 'filler'. Loved the restaurant itself, and the service was outstanding. Eggs Benedict with salmon slice was awesome. Highly recommended!

It's a nice Italian restaurant for a night out. The only complaint would be that some dishes (ceasar salad, fettuccine alfredo) can be pretty heavy on garlic, which may turn off some people.

My wife and I went to the Vines again for another amazing dinner experience. We can't say enough about how much we enjoy going there. The food is absolutely cooked and seasoned perfectly, the staff is very polite and professional in our opinion you have to make the Vines a must on your going out for dinner list.
By the way we also tried the Sunday Brunch again amazing tasting choices. Very well organized and staff very organized.

If you are looking for an extra special brunch, you have to go to the vines. There was everything! Eggs Benny, pastas, mussels.and OMG the desserts! Bring your appetite. You won't eat for a week after.

Hands down the best Italian food in Dartmouth. The atmosphere is nice and the servers are always friendly. The risotto balls are a must!

We had an amazing birthday dinner for my husband with a couple of friends. Our waitress Emily made our evening perfect. Highly recommend The Vines.

Enjoyable as always. The pasta bar buffet was amazing, the staff were great and the atmosphere is wonderful.
They even made a special ‘virgin’ version of a drink for our driver.

Disappointing is the first word that comes to my mind. I've been there before and had nothing but praise for the restaurant; today unfortunately thumbs down and I explain.
Upon my arrival (4: 10 pm) I was greeted by a waitress still wearing her outdoor coat, she pointed to a table and asked me if it was ok, I agreed, shortly after another waitress ask me for my order, I ask for calamari and peasant carbonara as entree.
I was given a nice warm loaf of bread with butter and ginger ale (as I order).
Tha calamari was so.thick and rubbery, also the portion too big and difficult to swallow, served with a side of nacho sauce (tasted like the cans they sell at the grocery store) and some greenery that look that had been in the fridge for 2 nights cover with a plastic bag.
Instead of the soup of the day, I decided to go healthy and paid 3 dollars for the toss salad. I should have known better but my healthy eating decision was salad: the mushrooms were wrinkly and no flavor, the tomatoes weren't good either, so was the greenery, honestly that salad appeared was in their fridge for at least one night I mean no crunchiness from the lettuce and on top of that, the sauce for the salad was very vinegary and no flavors (other than vinegar that is). Do you want me to pack it for you? I answered no thank you.
Now the entree, I asked for parmesan cheese which was not offered.
First time I ask for pasta carbonara that doesn't taste as bacon even though the pieces of bacon can be seen at the bottom of the dish.
Service was rather unhelpful and uncaring, after I explained the waitress that my salad fork was dirty she made no effort to offer a fresh one before my salad.
I had three bites of the salad and ate 5 shrimp from the pasta. I asked for the bill, fully paid for my meal, explained to the cashier my disappointment, she offered a gift certificate for a free meal, which I rejected as my intention is not to return to the restaurant.

A lot of review mentioned the decor, and while it hasn't been updated in a while but I don't think it needs it. The restaurant has a great charm and a great atmosphere and it almost feels like you're eating in a family home, don't change a thing! We had a great meal and amazing service. We will definitely be back.

Pleasantly surprised! I have driven by this place for years and decided to give it a try. Great friendly service and ambiance. Lots of variety on the menu. I had a pasta dish chicken and pesto. Absolutely delicious! Shared a couple of appetizers and thought they were great. Will be returning soon!
