FINAL CHAPTER:
This past summer, someone from the administration did contact me, and she said that they would return my money and supply me with a new set of glasses free of charge; since I didn't want to return to the Bridgewater location, they said that they would pay for an appointment in one of the Halifax locations (Barrington Street) where I had previously received excellent service. I said that September would be good. Unfortunately, we had car problems that weren't resolved until mid-October (waiting for a part.) I emailed the admin person who contacted me as well as the regional director early in November; I apologized for taking so long to get back to them, and I said that I really didn't want to travel 60 miles to get a new set of glasses and I asked if I could simply get a refund. That was almost 2 months ago, and silence has been their only response.

This experience started December of 2022, and here we are teetering on the verge of 2024, and I'm still wearing my "old' glasses. I have had two pair of glasses from Vogue Optical Bridgewater sitting on my kitchen counter for months that make my vision worse than the old glasses. They cost almost $900 and they are essentially unusable.

UPDATE: They made a request for me to contact them so they could escalate it to regional. I did contact them weeks ago, and still haven't heard from them. I wonder if they posted the response just to make it look like they cared.

Original review:
My biggest regret about going to Vogue for my eye examination and subsequent purchase of glasses is that I didn't listen to the person who told me not to go there.

To make a very long story short, it took 3 months to get a pair of glasses that are only slightly better than my old ones. They made 5 attempts to get it right and failed. The Optometrist, Dr. Birnie, with whom they are associated with, was, in my opinion, negligent and insulting.

For Vogue's first three attempts, I was told to wear them, even though one eye was clear and the other wasn't, that it would just take a week or two to adjust. No one did a measurement with the hand held device to determine the centre of my pupil.when I asked about it, they said that they only use that for expensive prescriptions. Considering I was purchasing top of the line progressives, I wondered what they considered to be 'expensive'.

On the fourth attempt, the fellow realized that the angle of the astigmatism was off by 10%, when those glasses came back the blurriness in the left eye was even worse.

I have to commend Samantha Corner who made the fifth attempt, she measured and found out that indeed the measurement was not correct for the centre of the pupil, she also didn't give the impression that I was the problem, not the glasses.

With regard to Dr Birnie, the reason that I felt that she was negligent was because at the initial consult, she failed to mention two 'problems' that affect eye health. Dry eye and the beginning of cataracts. She only talked about the health issue that I already knew about.

Why do I feel that she was insulting? During a second appointment to confirm that prescription was correct, she made no change to the lens in the Phoropter, but covered it with her hand, pretended to make a change, and then asked if I could see any difference. I asked her to do it again not because I was unsure of what I was seeing, but to confirm that she indeed had made no change. I feel that perhaps if she had been less intent on proving that the problem with the prescription was in my head instead of my eye, and if she had investigated what the problem might be it would have been a better experience.

Right now, I still have double vision in my left eye, but it is now at a point where I can live with it until I can save enough to go elsewhere.

I have been wearing glasses for more than 50 years. This is the worst service and experience I have had in five decades, except for Samantha Corner who tried really hard to make it right.

While the service and quality are good I am looking for a different location / business that actually accommodates people who work Mon thru Fri. Even half a day on Saturday would be appreciated.
