This place will be open from mid June to Labour Day, there will be no winter maintenance. There is a bus stop near by bus no 415 you need to take in case you want to come here by bus. There is a good place to walk with your dogs, family and friends. There are some tunnels and cannon. The scenic view is beautiful from top lots of water and when the Sun-rays kisses the water it shines like diamond. The trail is not big hardly 2-3 km. It will end on the Navel school from one side and you need to take the same route to come back. Someone also told us there is a place where to teaches you how to burn campfire.

I first stumbled upon the hidden gem of York Redoubt many years ago when living in Halifax. During that time it was one of my favorite places to take friends visiting from out of province. A great way to explore history with less crowds and more at your own pace.

My most recent trip was a return after too many years. I ventured there with a friend and our kids. The children loved exploring all the tunnels and hidden buildings. There is so much more to see but it is a lot of walking for little legs.

The highlight was all the big cannons that were still around and secret passageways. We will be back for sure!

The citadel has nothing on this fort. It’s massive, you can explore wherever you want (for the most part), loads of space, many Geocaches in the area, etc.if you want Cannons…. This is the place for you. Old walls made of iron stone… yep. Highly recommend.

Nice place for a walk. I am glad to see see many people using this beautiful park now. If you come please take your garage. Lately I am finding and picking up so much garage. Tim, starbucks cup, kids snacks /toys. It was never like this in years past. Pick up after your dog and don't leave the poop bag unless you are coming back for it. Pack in pack out. Please respect the animals who live here and don't litter in there home. Thanks and enjoy the trails.

Calm place to visit. Not too crowded. Great historical landmark that is near Melville Cove which also has a historical past.

It was fun looking around this historic sight. Love to reminisce our history and see how they defended our city. We walk all the way down to the rocky shore and took a shortcut route in the middle of forrest back to the parking lot.

One of the best place to visit in Halifax. It’s located 20 mins drive from Halifax downtown and can be also accessible via Halifax transit. The transit buses runs on for few hours in day, so plan your trip accordingly. It’s UNESCO world heritage site. They do have lots of cannon aiming towards oceans. You can see Halifax from one side of park. It can get pretty windy lot faster than you expect.

It would be a nice spot if tho locals would keep their dogs on-leash like they’re supposed to. Maybe 5% of the dogs have any recall whatsoever. Most are friendly some just want to attack your dog. I’d stay away if you’re a decent pet owner, better off at Long Lake Provincial Park.

Open area fort good for walking and taking in a self guided tour. Cannons overlooking the ocean and old building structures.

This is a hiking style national historical site. There are narrow trail parts leading into the nearby forests. Some places are quite hard to distinguish correct directions from maps. It’s efficient for new hikers to increase their experiences here. In addition, there are British coastal artillery bunkers and soldiers’ cottages. It’s good for campers to have a nap in the summer time. In a world, the place is pretty interesting to dip in.
