** update what is wrong with your “ Portuguese tart”? It’s literally just an egg. That is not what that’s supposed to be lol VERY disappointing just take it off the menu if you’re not sure what the dish is your making
Avoid this place at all costs. Fish is not fresh, old, and you can literally taste other substances on it, as if they do not wash the cutting boards. Waiters are rude and there have been several instances of them not returning correct amount of change back. All the other reviews are completely correct. I’ve been sick for two days now after eating here. This place needs to be investigated and shut down for good.
I genuinely didnt like the food here.it wasnt worth it at ALL.if i could leave a bad review on all the locations i would.the service wasnt great, the eel was ill tasting, the appetizers werent all that, and to top it all off, the robot was annoying.i HATED the robot.probably the worst thing there.also, the wok that made the udon was heavily seasoned.and i mean HEAVILY the one thing i can say i loved was the seaweed salad.but thats good at any sushi restaurant anyways.safe to say im never coming back here again, mainly because of the robot but i think i got food poisoning too.all the best to 168 sushi in the future but not the robot cat.
New sushi dumb server is nice, I suppose. The menu is cut down so much and priced jacked up so highly it's almost not worth it any more. Used to be great. Service is still good tho.
This was a great-not-incredible experience. Good quality on all the dishes we had, but not as extensive a range as I've had at other branches of this chain. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they had a wandering robot with trays to serve some tables, and apparently it could also be programmed to sing happy birthday Very satisfying, overall!
Everyone says "best (insert food type here) ever" when talking about a restaurant. While I won't say this is the best sushi ever, I will say that it is the best in town. While service may be a little during busy times, it is well worth the wait. Everything fresh and well portioned. Anything deepfried is not dripping in grease.
Idk how this sushi place doesn't have an extra star. The price of lunch was 22 for the all you can eat, the sushi was very good and fresh it arrived in a timely manner. The choices of food are a lot, and you can order the food through an ipad at any point during your stay, and it will be delivered by a really cute robot. A must stop.
The food overall is good. Maki rolls and sashimi were good and fresh. Love the buffet bar for steamed dumplings, soup, salad and dessert. Chashu pork was wet and greasy and had the texture of 3 day old mashed potatoes directly from the fridge. The beef skewers were tough and didn’t have much flavour. Wish when you put your order in the server didn’t have to come every time to finish sending it to kitchen.
Compare to other All-you-can-eat Japanese restaurants in the GTA area which we visited recently this was a very subpar experience. Food quality, selection and taste were below average. They use some thick rice for sushi which makes it tasteless. Would not recommend and will not come back
Called well in advance of my lunch to place my order. Was told it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. Showed up in 15 minutes and proceeded to wait another 35 minutes. I told them I had to cancel my order as they had taken far to long to complete such a small order only to be told it was "almost ready, but still waiting on the sushi". 50 minutes for 2 rolls and 2 pieces of sushi in a restaurant that wasn't even half full is insane no matter how you look at it. Wont be returning.
I felt like the food has improve a lot since pandemic. For sure, don't expect it's a good sushi place but for the buffet, I think it's pretty decent for the price.
I have been here many times. Every time I go there the service is horrible. Last visit, I saw a dead fly in the pho which disgusted me and also saw a small partical looks like plastic in the salmon sushi. Spicy salmon sushi is not even spicy, it seems like smushed tomato instead. Never returning to this sushi place in future.
Update: I thought this place would get better but it didn't seem like it did. I think it never will. The service was extremely slow. They now use a bot to serve customers which is not a great idea since other customers can take your food order. Food quality was not the best, I felt the portions got smaller and some sushi rolls were falling apart. The waitress that was serving us had an attitude. I was wrong giving this place another chance. Avoid this place and go somewhere better like Kinkaku.
I like the food a lot, but the staff can be mean. When you don't tip, they confront you over it. Some people can't afford a tip. It seems they remember for the next time, and make sure to take extra long serving you. I've had the place have barely anyone in it and watched people who arrived after I did eat and finish their meals before I have even gotten my first order. Me and my mom have wanted to come back, but we just aren't up to enduring the service anymore.
Service was slow and trash, servers were rude too. Found flies in our food, and when we informed them, we only got a sorry. We lost our appetite so we asked to do takeout for the rest of our order and they declined. Wasted $80 on this place.
Not a fan. Resembles Y'es Sushi with the tablet order, all you can eat soup/salad bar was concerning with the only Covid precaution being signs to wear your mask which people were forgetting and bottles of hand sanitizer around the counter-some not working, everyone touching the same tongs and laddles. If I'd go to Waterloo again I'd have to be going to Ken's for Sushi. Had hoped to find a comparable place for when Ken's is booked nope not this place.
There lots of flies visiting when having our dinner. The Manager told us they do not have control of the flies, really. We still have to pay a $60 to share our food with flies! Never never never go back again
Went to dinner by myself here, and even though it was more of a group environment I was still able to enjoy myself and my food. Amazing cocktail prices and so many great options! Staff was also super nice and polite.
They stop providing lunch menu without being clear about it, so expect price and variety of dinner menu. Patio is great for a sunny day, as the tents are the ones you buy at Walmart and won't hold you very dry on a rainy day
Are you feeling sick of the lockdown? Do you wish you could get your sushi hit all in one afternoon? Look no further than 168 Sushi! Enjoy a wide variety of sushi rolls, soups, fried cephalopods and much, much more! Finish it off with some baked cream and you've made your afternoon!
This is our sushi lunch and dinner go-to place, and they never disappoint. They're always so kind and patient over the phone. The food is so tasty, and my favourite are the dragon rolls! Always a pleasant experience ordering from here. In the photo below is the Maki Boat D; we like to pair our sushi with some bubble tea from next door too:)
Better tasting than Ye’s and sushi 99, at least for their takeout. Order from their website and it up. It is way cheaper than using Skip or DD. We find Maki Boat A to be good value.
They are awesome. Very kind peoples and clean, very clean restaurant.and nice selections of the foods. I like the seafoods and I hope they have the Oysters. ;) We drove 2 hours to enjoyed the foods and it was worth to drive. ;)
It felt like the quality has gone south during pandemic. Service is still good, but the quality of the of items simply not upto standards experienced before
Dined there earlier this evening and we loved it! As big fans of sushi and especially the all you can eat style, we've been to many sushi restaurants in the tricity area, and although we live in Cambridge, this restaurant is worth the drive and the price 100%! The food was great and wide selection of it, the service was quick and efficient, the place itself looks very clean and beautifully designed. We will definitely be back!
Great food, even better service! Staff is friendly and attentive without being annoying. They actually respond when you say thank you and smile.favorite staff of any sushi place I've ever been to! Pricing is fair and food is amazing.
The food at this place is horrible, we typically go to the Mississauga location but since it closed we decided to try this place, after a 30 minute wait for sushi it was all downhill, we had Items we didn’t order brought to our table and a lot of the hot food was cold, and didn’t remotely look like it’s suppose to, will never eat her again and do not recommend!
Having been to both London locations, I was kind of disappointed by this Waterloo location. The cheese mussels were made very differently here (also limited to 1 per guest? !? London doesn't limit theirs), Kalbi ribs aren't caramelized as every other sushi location, the sushi quality is mediocre and their menu options keeps getting smaller.
The food was served extremely fast after placing order. The sushi was fresh and every piece tasted delicious. A huge menu of options you don't see at most AYCE sushi places around GTA. We loved the environment and can't wait to try the Asian buffet when the pandemic is over. We will be back soon and would highly recommend.
Fantastic food. Especially since it's all you can eat, the green dragon roll is our favourite and also the thia crispy chicken is amazing. If the food wasn't so good I would have stopped coming because of the service, I'm not saying all the staff there is rude and ignores you but most of the time we go we always get the person who is apparently having a bad day because they ignore us or forget about us at the table and we've even gotten a couple of eye rolls with that service. If it wasn't for the rude staff that we have received over and over again I would have put 5 stars!
I've never been to a sushi buffet where we spent half the time waiting for food to come to the table. My friends and I essentially had to start eating desserts that were self served because our food wouldn't come. I spent 15 mins chasing down the waitress to see where our order is, only to have the waitress reorder the food that has not been served, which ended up double ordering. Right before we were about to pay, a dish from our first order came. No stars for the service, 2 stars for the fact that they were open on new years.
Ok food but little bit bland. Prices jumped 40% on some menu items but not reflected on menu or website, (charged $6.95 for a Tom Yom soup priced at $3.95 on menu) no updated menu available. Restaurant is getting a little dirty and smell like cigarette smoke at the bar and main entrance.
Reasonably priced all you can eat. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Food is very yummy as well. Would recommend over any other all you can eat sushi joint in Waterloo.
I recently discovered this place on a whim and it's now my new favourite sushi restaurant. Great food, service, and very nice bathrooms! Seriously, the bathrooms are stocked with mouth washes, hair products, and there are air fresheners all over and each stall feels like your own personal bathroom. The prices are about what you would expect from a sushi buffet.
Service is quick and generally very stoic. The servers sent really try to be warm or talkative; very efficient. The dessert bar is a little lacking but the items off the menu were prepared well and in a timely manner. I especially recommend the cream cheese wontons. They put quite the helping in them. It was my favourite thing of the evening.
Good food and polite staff, but we were ignored for a half hour and didnt get a lot of what we ordered. But we did get a lot of food that we didnt order that they brought to the wrong table.
The food was good but the service was so bad, the dishes that a little expensive than the others never available even though they are still on the menu and when you order it, the food never come to ur table when you stop to asking why or when you have it they said it out of stock? So what the point of having them in the menu then? If you don’t have it or it a bit expensive so u don’t want people order that too much then don’t serve it! The prices keep going up but the quality and the selection keep going down then it’s make no sense! Never return!
Like many all you can eat sushi menu, they carry quite the variety. The sashimi during dinner was quite fresh, and the sushi nigiri was great. Scallops were pretty good and there’s mussels and grab legs at the buffet. Their tempura items are decent too, but other than those categories, the other food items are okay, wouldn’t say it’s top notch quality compared to some other AYCE places I’ve tried in the GTA. Overall though, I’d recommend you try it!
As far as AYCE sushi goes, this place is middle of the pack. You do get a tablet for ordering which is nice and there is a decent selection of items on the menu. Service is fairly quick and accurate even at busy times. My gripe with this place is that the food really tastes like buffet food. The meat is quite low quality and usually very chewy. The sushi is average at best and you'll probably want to be using a lot of soy sauce with this one. Afterwards I always feel like it wasn't really worth it but I have been here 3 times over the years with friends.
I have been to this place many many times but still can’t seem to decide if it’s good or not. There were times when the food was good and so was the service but there were other times where it was “not pleasant “. However if you’re in a big group, they tend to shrink the order size without telling you: for example if you order 5 salmon teriyaki for 5 people they will only bring 2 pieces. When this got repeated many time with different items. My friends and I asked for reason to do this and they said it’s the Manager’s orders! I don’t see the point of it but it is totally weird.
Nice combination of table service and buffet. Food seems fresh and good flavour. Nice touch with the Wonton soup (wontons in seperate heated storage, so add as much as you want.)
Not the greatest sushi place in town but it does the trick. Their ipad menu allows for quick service but it does take away from the personal interaction with servers. Food portions are always hot and fresh. I like going here because they have dim sum.most others don't.
Really good quality sushi rice and quality fish. The portions are Abit on the smaller side. The staff here is very friendly and prompt when assisting you with any questions or concerns. I find that the orders are not made with the same care. Some are constant like sashimi, but there is no consistency with the rolls or nigiri, they also seem to not give you the amount of pieces you ordered. Ex: ordered 30pc sashimi but received only 20pc. Along with many other shortcomings.
Overall not a bad restaurant within the chain of 168 Sushi restaurants. Definitely worth a try!
Sushi here is great! Is always fresh and tasty. Customer service is okay, some servers are great others are lacking. We ordered food in the ipad (menu) and it never came. After waiting half hour we asked the server and she said "oh yeah, we don't actually have that". We hadn't ordered more food to try that specifically and would've liked at least a heads up when we ordered it instead of waiting for nothing. Also, they don't accept Debit. Only cash or credit which is a little inconvenient. They have an ATM but of course your paying an extra fee to withdraw to pay.
