Where to start.burned to a crisp satay, sushi that basically fell apart like I've never seen before, uneven rolls.paper thin sashimi that I could see through.uneven rolls.seaweed papers that weren't stuck where they belong. I wasn't expecting greatness at all you can eat sushi.but it would be nice if it was remotely edible.
I'm super annoyed and suggest you all go elsewhere.
We came here with a friend who enjoyed 168 Sushi on Merivale in the past.
Parking lot is in the back.
The place was almost empty on a Saturday night at supper time. We should have taken the hint.
Service was weird and awkward, and not in a good way.
Bathroom was clean.
Food was edible. Not much better. Beef and chicken was probably precooked and sitting in the fridge a long time, it was tough. Sushi may as well have been bought from the grocery store.
We were served warm sushi with cold avocado, the seaweed had an old and stale taste. The rice tasted like plastic, and the wasabi was sweet. The only good thing was the crab tempura. There are much better all you can eat sushi places in Ottawa, I recommend avoiding this one
AVIOD THIS PLACE! I went to this location because it was closer to my friends house. It was awful. First, the servers were very rude and rolling their eyes when we asked for the menu. We had a buffet and had ordered 5 things, and the only thing that came was the seaweed salad. And WE FOUND A FINGERNAIL IN ONE OF THE SEAWEED SALAD. It was disgusting and we asked to be compensated or give us a discount but they started yelling at us and we just left without paying. I mean they only gave us water and seaweed salad in the first place anyway.
Being there on the weekend before pendamic. There were not many people in the restaurant. We had two family with kids. The server kept telling you that there is time limt for buffet, and not very patient. The food quality was fine, but it may not that fresh because not many people there. The staff attitude like we owe them money. If you like sushi buffet, The 168 sushi at Merivale is far more better, the service there is far more better and you can take fruit and desert by yourself
California rolls were absolutely a mess! Pieces ended up in our order that should normally have been thrown out! Even me at home I can do easily better rolls and cuts than what I saw in my order this time. The tuna in the California rolls was far from being any fresh, we couldn't even easily chew, it was dull in color and had an unpleasant smell! I called the costumer service and explained the problem, but the guy said he didn't care! Such a shame! He said that what I saw was part of their design! Unbelievable! I have had the same order over and over and had never seen anything as carelessly made ever! He tried to say that it was delivery's problem (Doordash), could you believe that!? The delivery made but Doordash was great, fast and easy, no problem, such a shame they tried to throw them under the bus instead of accepting the responsibility! This wasn't the first time I was eating or ordering from 168 Sushi, the food has always been good enough for the cost (not the St Laurent one, I'm talking about the the one situated in Merivale Road Ottawa)! I felt that I had to post this review only because the Costumer Service was disrespectful and said on the phone they didn't care about what I was saying or thinking!
California Rolls were un absolut mess, pieces ended UP in our order that should have naturally been thrown out, even me I make much better sushi rolls and cuts at home. I called the costumer service but thé Guy said he didn't care, such a shame!
Ordered many times before. Ordered take out today and when I was eating my order of spicy beef, I chewed on something hard. I thought it was a bone. It was a staple. I do think know how a staple got into the food but it showed a neglectful restaurant that I don't intend to visit (or order from) again. I'm assuming I didn't eat any staples but this place is a a small shot away from a lawsuit
Food was good and was brought out quickly. Servers were attentive and gave a helpful suggestion wrt eating certain foods first while they are warm instead of after cooling off.
My one complaint was that everytime we ordered something we were questioned about each order and had to confirm each item in the orders we input into the iPad. This occurred multiple times in the one visit.
Super endroit!
Way to scam through skip the dishes, doesn't send you all the items then when you call they tell you tough luck. Advised I wont order from them again and they just say "Thanks" and hang up.
The service was not so well coordinated. They would bring plates we didn't ask for or that belong to other persons. But the place itself is great. Food is beyond expectation; really delicious and my experience was overall amazing.
This is my go to place for all you can eat sushi. The staff a very fast at clearing dirty dishes away from your table as well when you order with the iPad and hit submit a server is at your table within seconds. I have no idea how they find out so quick but it's awesome the food shows up to your table verry quickly very tasty and fresh. Hot foods are usually so hot that you have to wait a bit before you can take a bite. Very clean location. The only reason I gave this review 4 stars. THEY DONT TAKE DEBIT! You have to use cash or credit or use the STM machine with a fee but hey I still go just make sure you have cash on you
This place is good, however the staff don't actually give you everything you order and then get annoyed at you when you bring up the other things you ordered and they didn't bring to you.
Been here a few times now, pretty much the same result everytime.
The food was alright, I mean sushi; am I right! But firstly, the price. At $28 I should expect some amazing food that I can't just have anywhere or anytime. But it wasn't. Secondly, the service. I ordered 48 pieces of sushi (yes, the server added them up in front of us) for 3 people. Remember, its $28 per person, and he asked me if I was sure that's what I wanted. I found it rather rude, maybe your not as easily offended but that. But each time you send an order via the iPad ordering system, a server needs to attend to your table and check the order. Our second order was ignored by the servers, who were happily chatting in view of my table, for 15 minutes before I rudely waved them over. Lastly, the over all feel. I just didn't feel welcome in that restaurant, I wasn't greeted, the place was dark and dingy and overall I didn't have a great experiance.
TLDR: Had a bad experiance. Save your $28 and treat yourself to something better.
Food was okay, the place was relatively clean and the service was quick but not really the greatest. The main issue being it's an all you can eat sushi but they limit the number of certain sushi you can order so we couldn't enjoy all the stuff we wanted. Additionally, when ordering 2 rolls of sushi (for a total of 10 pieces) they asked us twice if we were sure about it and if we were actually going to eat it, as though they didn't want us ordering it or something. I found it a little disrespectful. I don't know if I'll be going there again.
Terrible pad thai I ordered the vegetable one and there was 1 piece of red pepper in it and the fried tofu was watered down with about 10% tofu inside it.
Went for dinner. Miso soup only had 1 tiny piece of tofu in it. The fish wasn't very tasty and rice didn't feel the freshest. Service was fast; some items ordered were missing (eg, got 6 red tuna nigiris instead of 8) but this was minor. Dumplings (they have two kinds, shrimp and pork) were pretty bland. The maki options are a bit boring.iPad ordering is very convenient and straightforward to use.
Price is similar to other ayce sushi restaurants. Plenty of parking space at the back. The restaurant has a nicer decor than the average ayce sushi place.
So so food. Poor service. Tablets are there but you can't submit your order without calling servant to the table, they probably think we're too dumb to place an order. Debit cards not accepted but they are quick to point out to ATM machine so greedy owner can collect some extra fees. Paid with credit card and put them on my list of places I won't regret if I never see them anymore.
Very modern decor/washroom vs most other all you can eat places. Service was friendly and very quick. We loved every dish that was ordered. No complaints here!
