Been having constant internet issues nearly everyday for months and end up having to use my data, also saw another review were someone else was having the same issue over a year ago.

Very good location for students in Ottawa, management was conscious of our needs and was readily available whenever we needed them. The building is well renovated and clean. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a place in the area to rent here!

Close to Ottawa university. Old motel that they turned into student living. Out dated. Needs a good renovation for the price these student pay. Our son moved in to an apartment which we were told was ready and cleaned to find out the cleaning staff did not clean the apartment beforehand. After a few emails back and forth with management we were told it would get done well fast forward two months and nothing has been done and now they are not responding to our emails. Just a heads up that the apartment is furnished but kitchen is not stocked. We were not made aware of this.

I regret to compose this review, but I find it necessary due to a significant issue that has arisen. Unexpectedly, the residence is charging me $500 without a valid reason, claiming it’s a toilet maintenance and garbage disposal for the toilet papers. However, the picture she provided as evidence dates back to July, and the maintenance team declined to fix it promptly. My subtenant, Carolyna (the leasing coordinator, and I eventually resolved the issue ourselves.

After a 30-minute debate today with the manager, during which she displayed unprofessional behavior and frequently changed her statements when presented with evidence, and after giving her the biggest evidence regarding the toilet issue, she started claiming that it is not for the toilet but it's a cleaning fee for my subtenant's 20-day stay (she wasn’t aware that i have only sublet my unit for approximately 20 days that’s why she stated that it is a cleaning fee). This explanation seems illogical, as the new manager initially reported cleaning the room and finding 20 bags of waste after my subtenant moved out, i left their office disheartened. This marks my second year at the residence, and sadly, it will be my last due to this unpleasant experience. While the rest of the team has been professional, this new manager's conduct has been disappointing.

Additionally, when I requested the maintenance reports to corroborate her claims about the cleaning and maintenance checks and to pay the 500$ fee, she declined to provide any evidence or reports, stating that she didn't know where to find them, given her responsibility for managing 300 units. This further adds to my concerns about the transparency and professionalism of the manager in this situation.

I inquired about contacting someone higher up, but she refused, citing their busy schedule overseeing multiple buildings. This isn't my first negative experience here, as they previously raised my rent when signing a new lease, because they assign random rent for the same unit depending on the source of the tenant, and they imposed a $250 administration fee on my sublease.

Furthermore, I must express my deep concern over the threats I've received regarding the $500 fee. I've been warned that failure to pay this fee will result in actions such as "Collections" and potential adverse effects on my credit score. Due to these troubling developments, I am compelled to involve legal representation to thoroughly investigate and address this matter.

However, these issues pale in comparison to my current predicament. It saddens me that a prestigious building like 1Eleven Residence is represented by someone like this. As the President and founder of the University of Ottawa Students, I've supported countless new students moving into this building. I hope that someone in a higher position can address and rectify my situation. Thank you for your attention.

Despite the poor ratings I was willing to give this place a chance. FOR PROSPECTIVE RENTERS, DON'T DO IT. Had a confirmed appointment to view a specific room. Received an email confirmation of the appointment. Drove 4 hours round trip for this appointment and the person at 1 Eleven wasn't even aware of it, did not have the room I was coming to see available. Can't blame the person who received me, they were not made aware but the ADMIN person I communicated with didn't even bother to inform anyone or schedule the visit, nor bother to arrange for me to see the unit I had clearly requested. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and quite frankly, UNACCEPTABLE. If they treat prospective renters this way, I would hate to see how they treat you after you've signed a lease.

My friend had a horrible experience here. Bad management. Not helpful, does not compensate, is difficult to communicate with.

Old building, always smells bad, rude staff, they try to scam you through 3-years lease agreement

Really horrible place to live, it's the only residence I know where some members of the staff threaten the residents to send their files to the immigration agency, the apartments are aging and the building too, the electrical system is not reliable or even dangerous, when it is not the wifi networks that disappear for hours, it is the electrical outlets that have a problem, the number of people who smoke makes cohabitation difficult, in addition to multiple alarms ringing at any time, let's not forget that you pay for water and electricity but you also have to pay to use the washing machine and dryer while you are already paying for the resources and energy that the machine uses.also we have the allocation of roommates, which I assure you can have a really harmful consequence in your life, if you are looking for a place to start your university life in peace, I strongly advise you not to set foot there for reasons of security. This choice of residence is clearly what can be called a bad decision.

- 24 hours notice to enter was not given multiple times. I once only got notice at 11 am for entry that was supposed to happen that same day, sometime between 8: 30 and 4.
- Management was very unorganized and would often not respond to emails or phone calls, making it difficult if you were unavailable during their in-office hours.
- I agree with the other reviewers that the way they handle financial issues is unprofessional. I was following up for a month, and they were completely ignoring my emails.

Horrible services. I lived there for a year and lost 7 Amazon packages, they just don't do anything with the stolen things because it's not their lost

Worst place i've been in my life, the staff is disrespectful, unpleasant, it's just really shameful to pay this price and you don't have a person in the staff who talks to you well or who and just nice with you, I do not recommend this residence, see you will just be disgusted with the service at the same price, I took myself a superb one-bedroom apartment in downtown byward and the tenant is just adorable with a certain politeness that 1eleven does not know about those I am very very happy to have left this residence

It’s the truest rate I can give to such a place like this. The quality and the rent doesn’t match with what they offer and you really don’t get anything in return! The furniture quality is very low. Also the unit itself doesn’t have much to offer.bathroom nearly was collapsing on a weekend and they didn’t send anyone for repair such an emergency request and I couldn’t use my bathroom for two days because the water was dripping from the cieling.my stuff, my food disappeared couple of times in the lobby and in the gym. Also one day someone suddenly opened my door and when he/she found that i am the unit he/she closed the door immediately.and when I requested to check the cameras by contacting their email I heard nothing! What is the point of the surveillance camera when you can’t use it? Is it a scam for getting more money? I am really disappointed!

Pros: close to campus, stores, otrain. Apartments on north side have amazing view. Study room and gym are open very early and late (6am or 11pm). Door buzzer system is very simple in terms of admiring the delivery ppl into building. Amenities included, GOOD WIFI. Maintenance repaired our issues quickly

Cons: $2.50 for washer/dryer.very very thin walls and tiny rooms; not sure it’s priced fairly. I didn’t really deal with or see management so I can’t comment on that however the one maintenance person was a bit rude. Sometimes you gotta pester mgmt to get things resolved.

1Eleven is situated about five minutes from Ottawa University making it very ideal for students. If I needed only one reason to pick 1Eleven, it would be the location. But, there are more reasons why this is a good fit for students, like the gym and yoga studio, reliable internet, etc.

1Eleven is close to uOttawa. It has a hip yet comfortable atmosphere and the neighborhood is safe. I really like the staff here because they are very understanding and helpful. The games room and social lounge are good spots for winding down after class. They also provide free internet. Happy I live here!

I lived here for two years while I was a student at Carleton University. Good experience overall. The staff is friendly and helpful and it has got basically every extra or convenience I wanted as a student. You get amazing views of the city from the building too!

The rooms are comfortable and the rent includes everything, plus you get free internet. The staff is professional and helpful. There’s a diner nearby called Elgin Street Diner where I eat regularly.

Charged me $250 a few years ago to replace the key fob I lost. Charging more than replacement cost in Ontario for a key is illegal. I'm fairly sure a key fob doesn't cost more than a few bucks, and a few minutes of time to program.

I stayed at 1Eleven during my time at Carleton. It’s worth every penny! The complex is close to bus stations, so if you have to get around often, it becomes a lot easier. The neighborhood is nice and safe too. There are a few pubs nearby too.

The worst place! The double room is only separate by one thin wall, no door even, which means you don’t have your privacy at all!

The staff at 1Eleven is so helpful! I didn’t encounter any issues, but they were always available and ready to help if you needed them. I like the study lounge here too.it's very comfortable and made study time so much more effective.

At 5 minutes walk from uOttawa, 1Eleven has about everything you need in a place, plus you get the option to live with or without a roommate. There’s a lot of fun places nearby too, such as The Standard and El Camino.

I stayed at 1Eleven while studying at Carleton, and it was the best decision I ever made. The neighborhood is really nice and makes you feel safe, and the apartment itself is really comfortable too. There’s a gym and a study lounge, and a diner nearby called Elgin Street Diner that has great food, all the time.

Updated review after four years. The staff and manager at the building are super nice and helpful. It was the best residence I ever lived and I loved loved throughout my entire school at Uottawa. I made life long friend here who lives here for more than four years. Yes, you can always find better price for rental but here you don’t compromise and it is the best deal.

Great building in a strategic location (the residence is close to everything, Rideau Centre, Train station, University and grocery stores), very friendly and caring staff always ready to help and facilitate life for students. It’s really worth it for the price you pay since it’s all inclusive.
I highly recommend this residence if you want a full downtown experience while in university or as a young professional. Amazing overall experience!:)

It’s about 5 minutes away from uOttawa, which is super convenient. It’s also close to bus stations, so if you have a job or friends further from campus, it’s easy to get around. The admin and maintenance teams are very helpful.

Smaaaaaaaaaaaal room you can’t even call it apartment between 1550 to 1800 dollars is these even possible? !

Chill place. Close to Ottawa University campus too, so I like it. Easy access to nearby places like Bridgehead and Happy Goat.

The suites can be really cozy, especially in the winter which, if you haven’t heard, is terribly cold:) There are a few pubs nearby, which are great for weekend fun, and you’ll find a variety of amenities right on site.

Am truly appalled by the lack of compassion displayed by management toward students during this health crisis. Please do avoid at all costs.

PLEASE don't let your kids stay here, this place takes advantage of students.

The owner, Mark is a great guy. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Fun to visit with. Good selection of beer and alcohol.

I scheduled a viewing for the apartment today at 1 pm. We drove all the way from Nepean, and we waited for over 30 minutes, and nobody came to tour us around. Terrible management and extremely disorganized. You just lost some great tenants.

Please avoid this place. Management is constantly telling me one thing, then doing another. Very difficult to get ahold of, I would appreciate a follow-up, thanks so much

Never live in that place! They charge high prices and offer a service they don't deliver! I had a terrible experience living in this building!

With my girlfriend already a tenant here it was an easy choice signing a lease. I'd visited enough that I knew it was a cool place that was outfitted well for most students.

Living and studying in Ottawa is the best. It's such a wonderful place to be as a student. But although I lived in a few different places while I was here, I didn't find any place as supportive to its student tenants as 1eleven. Some of my best memories of being a student at U of O are from here at 1eleven. The suites are set up very well and the price cannot be beat.

When it came down to choosing a place to live for school I had a hard time choosing whether to live in an apartment or to stay in residence. 1eleven was the best compromise. Living in Ottawa has been an awesome experience in every way.

It is very close to the campus at the university of Ottawa and it is well priced especially if you are budgeting your $. I wanted a nice safe place and the staff I met on the tour helped me seal the deal.

Isn't it good to live elsewhere.if you have the money to live in a 111. Staffs are indifferent to everything and rude, except to urge you to pay the rent. The living experience of the room was also terrible. If you have certain financial conditions, do not live here, otherwise 111 will be your nightmare.

I thought it looked like it had a great ambience from the site and was more impressed after the tour. All my questions were answered, I signed up and lived here for 2 sweet years. It is comfortable and cared for and a really fun place to live.

The time I spent at Ottawa U was fun and productive while living here at 1Eleven. The environment is great with super cool common areas and suites that have pretty close to everything you will need. The cooking facilities are key if you appreciate home cooked meals. My advice is not to miss the chance to check this place out.

It's tricky to find a nice place to live in Ottawa that won't cost you a small fortune or that is clean/well looked after and still in a great location. I have lived in terrible places before but this is not one of them. It was great!

With a great location and totally capable team running things, 1eleven was the perfect place for me in 3rd and 4th year. The location cannot be beat and the rent worked into my budget with room to spare. It's all good!

Even though the winter weather can be just plain awful, I loved living in Ottawa and at 1eleven. It was in the best location right near campus and downtown.the amenities are nice and the prices are even better.

My 1Eleven family was the absolute best. From the staff and my roomies to the people on our floor, such a great bunch of people. You simply can't beat the neighbourhood as it is close to class and all the great night life. The social spaces are great too. The decor is pretty sick for a building too!
