The overall experience was not bad. The pasta was slightly undercooked, but tasted good. The bread was the softest I ever had. I’m quite disappointed with the seafood however. They were cooked beautifully but they all tasted burnt, perhaps the grill was not properly cleaned or something. I expected something a little bit better if a pasta is being charged 34$

Ravioli was slightly undercooked, sauce was cold, filling was good. Service was lovely from waiter and host. Was expecting more for the price, however its not unreasonable.

Everything we had was excellent. Service was great. Super friendly and provided recommendations.

Food was too notch. You can taste the difference as their noodles are made in house. Service was excellent as well. Will be coming back for sure

I was sold on homemade pasta and boy did it live up. The Camembert appetizer is so good and while I loved my gnocchi my husband loved his shrimp and scallop linguini. You will be stuffed so walk in with a really good appetite!

Great place. This is one of those types of restaurants where the food is on point and the owner will come to your table to share a quick quip or story about something entertaining to hear. I will absolutely go back, and I'm looking forward to it. Try the bruschetta.

Friendly and very attentive staff, great place for a date night. Bustling but not crowded atmosphere, very nice for sitting and chatting and savoring the food. The glazed camembert is my new favorite thing! The bacon and scallops linguine was pretty good and the serving sizes are very reasonable. I like the menu and customizability but the taste didn't hit 5 stars relative to the price.

We dropped by for a desert and were kicked out because apparently they only serve those who order dinners. Well, after that experience I'm not going there for dinner ever and wouldn't recommend that unfriendly place to anybody.

Complicated Entry, however once you complete the maze of the entry way, you are greeted by soothing smells of delicious food.

The place was packed when we got there for 7pm. After having the delicious appetizers and tasty main entrees, it is evident why this place is popular. The owner Zee is a great host, friendly and truly cares that diners have a great experience. Will definitely return to taste the other menu items. Excellent Italian dishes and wonderful, attentive service! This Italian restaurant is a Kitchener gem.must try.

My husband and I love this restaurant. They are always so welcoming and the food is always delicious. I tried the penne pesto and it was so good. Would recommend this place to anyone.

This is my boyfriend and I's favourite spot. The owners/ staff are why we keep coming back and of course the food is amazing! I have never been disappointed here and we love how we are always remembered when we come in, even if it has been a few months.

Came here for the first time a few weeks ago to pick up a large order for takeout.
The owner was incredible and so friendly and helpful! Loved chatting with him and he made the wait even better. The food was incredible as well - completely homemade and it showed! Huge portions and just quality, delicious food. Kudos to the chef and owner!
I would have give 5 stars but the experience I had with the younger guy who “greeted” me was terrible. In fact, if the owner hadn’t smoothed it over with the conversation he had with me, I would not come back. It’s a shame that one person can ruin an entire first time experience for someone. As soon as I got in the door I said “Hi, how are you? ” And the boy immediate went “what’s your order? ” No “hello” back or any niceties whatsoever. He was so abrupt I was taken off guard. To while I started to reply and he rudely interrupted me and said “3 specials? Is that what you got? ”.
Being that it was my FIRST TIME at this restaurant, I didn’t even know if what I had ordered was a special, as I wasn’t informed on the phone. So I said “possibly, but its my first time here so…” and the boy interrupted me YET AGAIN and said “well it’s not maybe. Did you get order the special or not”.
I won’t continue on with the details of how the conversations continued on but you can gather from his rude demeanour and responses that he continued to speak this way to me, as well as other patrons that came in after me.
I really hope he takes the time to read this and understand that this is not acceptable behaviour and that the least you could do is be friendly and not talk over your customers and in such a rude tone. I’ve worked in the same industry for years and couldn’t imagine talking to anyone that way.
Being that I placed a huge order (well over $200) I made sure to tip generously but ONLY because of the owner & chef, as they were the only saving grace in this experience. If this tip was solely going to the boy, then he should know that the amount given wasn’t to do with his service, as it was unbelievably disgraceful.

Family run. Very nice ambiance, staff is engaging, food was very good. Service was also excellent. Owner took time to answer trivial questions we had about the restaurant, you could tell they cared.:)

It was our first time here so we ordered based off of recommendations in the reviews and ordered the cheesy garlic bread and gnocci. The gnocci was amazing but unfortunately I didn't realize they used wine in it. When we called they offered to make us another one without the white wine and I thought that was really nice of them.

Will definitely be back and will remember to let them know no alcohol for me!

5 stars all around for food, service & atmosphere. There are very few restaurants, if any, I have left feeling this way but 471 West did just that. From the moment we were greeted we felt exceptionally welcome into what felt like a home as we were served by members of a tightly knit family. The food was absolutely delicious and I cannot say enough good things about this place. Without a doubt, we will be back.

Delicious meal! Try the glazed camembert for appetizer or dessert! Absolutely delicious. They make their pastas fresh and homemade. We loved the bacon and scallops linguini and the chicken and grilled shrimp linguini! A fantastic experience all together. The owner welcomed us with open arms and great service.

Haven't been here in almost 5 years but the first time I went, I was dying for my next chance to go back. If I ever get back to Kitchener I'm going. Owner makes a point to engage and wants his meals and service to be exceptional, the atmosphere was fantastic, and you knew when you tasted your meal that the pasta was made fresh that morning. Highly recommend anyone to go!

It was good food. Size were good. We did enjoy the evening. Staff dudes need to be more in the game with serving and focus a bit better. I will try in the future. To bad is in downtown Kitchener that's down bit!

Absolute Superb food, wowzer. We got a chicken mashed potatoe dish and a shrimp pasta and oh my goodness it rocked. The staff was excellent and the food came out hot hot hot. I loved it, the environment, the plating and the taste of the food. This place would be excellent for anyone going on a date or taking their special person out for a good time out. I loved it?

We got here at noon without reservation on a weekday. The very first thing that stands out is the friendly and welcoming staff. The person who welcomed us seemed like the owner and was also the person who took our order and gave us recommendations on our meal.
Their specialty is their fresh and hand-made pasta and bread. We ordered “Garlic Bread with Cheese” and “bruschetta” for appetizer. They both were fresh and had great taste. For entrée, we ordered “Daily Pasta (Shrimp pasta with Broccoli and cream sauce) ”, “Sausage Pepperonata” pasta, “271west Shrimp Pasta” with added salmon and chicken, and “Ricotta Gnocchi” pasta. They were all served with 2 slices of fresh-toasted garlic bread, made in-house, alongside with fresh parmesan and black pepper. Our food tasted absolutely amazing. The pasta sauce was creamy; great combination and amount of spices were used. I would consider it on my top 5 pasta places in Canada.
The pictures on social media represent small servings, but the food will absolutely fill you up. The added garlic bread is somehow relevant.
The restaurant is cozy, with Italian vibe; the wait staff and host were attentive and provided a nice experience that was a great addition to the great quality meal.
It is my favorite restaurant in Kitchener, specially my favorite Italian restaurant; I would definitely come back!

Excellent service, delicious and very flavourful food, and homemade quality. You couldn't ask for more, right? Maybe warmer pasta and more sauce, but that's all that was missing.
We highly recommend this place for a casual dining experience. You will not be disappointed.

The food is really delicious, the staff are so friendly and warm, and the atmosphere feels just like Italy. The homemade pasta is delicious, chicken pizza is super, and the desert were irresistible, we ordered cheese cake, and brownies cake with ice cream both are very delicious. It was a great evening, I can’t wait to go with my kids next time. All there food are irresistible!

Every time I come in here they recognize me and the wife comes to give me a hug and says “hello, my beautiful girl. ” I used to come here so much they had my order memorized, and after covid settles down I plan on doing that again. This is the best Italian restaurant in town, they make fresh pasta here and I cannot recommend it enough. The family that owns this place really cares and tries hard for their customers.

Their hand made pastas are incredible and well worth getting. Appetizer we had had some of the best cooked scallops I've tried. Worth going for lunch or dinner!

We came downtown for the city hall new years celebration, but it was rained out.

We didn't know where to go, and saw that 271 West was open. We decided try to get in. The restaurant was really busy, however the waiter went out of his way to make room for us.

The food was amazing and our new years was saved.

Overall: yeah, it's ok.

It won't knock your socks off, but it's decent Italian food. Lots of cream sauces, which dominates most of what you taste.

Price is reasonable, portion size adequate.

Overall tone of this review should convey everything you need to know: hard to be disappointed, hard to be blown away. 7/10

Ate at 271 West on New Year's eve - the food was great. A couple of suggestions - the plastic water spotted water pitcher was out of place for the otherwise lovely meal. Also, the waiter was not particularly attentive - asked once if we wanted anything else then we had to ask him for the bill. He was very busy - it seemed he was the only waiter although there were others delivering food to other tables.

Went with friends for a birthday dinner. Cozy restaurant with friendly staff. My omni friends seemed to have enjoyed their meals. I will, on the other hand, not be returning. The only vegan food served at this restaurant is a side of vegetables, no rice because the rice is not vegan, no sauce because the sauce is not vegan, no bread because the bread is not vegan, pasta and pizza crust also not vegan. Waiter was friendly and tried to accommodate me as best he could. Then my bill came and I was charged $18 for a "stir fry" and I left the restaurant hungry. I don't recommend this restaurant for vegans. There are so many great restaurants in the area with fantastic vegan options and some even have a separate vegan menu. The economist and Forbes both declared 2019 the year of veganism, this restaurant, unfortunately, is staying behind.

Fantastic place to eat. My wife and i love the spinach dip thats made all in house. We drove an hour to go there and will do it again.

Very delicious! I ALWAYS get the Salmon Spaghetti. Their handmade noodles are like no other place, I crave this place biweekly. Very good service, not only does our waiter/waitress get up on us, even the owners come and check and that is very heart warming. They are very passionate owners of this famous run restaurant. Little bit of a wait so have a slight snack/don't come while you're completely famished! Thank you for your services:)

My good friend and I went for a double birthday dinner to celebrate ourselves turning another year older. We were not disappointed. The food was cooked perfectly, it was delicious, and the staff were very professional. They were attentive, timely, kind, and our waiter even had a charming sense of humour to boot. I’m sad I didn’t catch his name, but he was awesome. We were even given a birthday cheesecake to share on the house. Thank you for making our celebration extra awesome. You really made our night! Will absolutely return and recommend.

Great atmosphere the staff are great and very friendly. I had the steak ribeye it was cooked perfectly and they added pasta as a side and it was fantastic. If you're looking for a nice place to take your girlfriend or just a nice meal I'd suggest 271. Definitely be back soon.

We have dined at @271 West twice now and both experiences have been outstanding. Each time we have arrived to a warm and friendly greeting, received timely and professional service at our table, and delicious meals which you can tell have been made from scratch and with care. The owners go out of their way to ensure each and every guest received personalized attention, right down to holding the door open as they leave with a friendly invitation to return again. I absolutely love this restaurant and recommend it to everyone who comes looking for great places to eat in Kitchener.

Really good restaurant, food is good and EVERYTHING is home made, manager treated us really kind, and offered a free appetizer for the wait (yeah, that is why give them 4 stars), and waiters were really patient explaining the specials and catches of the day.

Amazing night, my girlfriend and I went to celebrate my birthday and I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience.

We both couldn't pass up the authentic handmade pasta, nor the spinach dip. Bread was perfect Italian bread, not too crunchy but not to overdressed to hide imperfections. Just easy simple bread.

Pasta was phenomenal, never had gnocchi this good. Cream sauce was a perfect compliment, not to mention missing without a trace from my plate after eating. Absolutely would go back and recommend for any date night.
