I took a walk thru the trillium resort rooms and did a comparison to what I rented at the 3 pines Lodge and found that for the money 3 pines Lodge beat them easily hands down.

Very clean, super comfy beds, friendly and helpful owners and staff. I can't wait to come back when the restaurant opens! Port Sydney Beach is a 4 minute walk and Huntsville is 15 minutes drive away. Lots to do in the area.

Good budget friendly no frills hotel. The attached restaurant is good and reasonably priced. Rooms have been recently renovated and less than a 5 minute walk from the public beach. The room was not cleaned during our 3 night stay. It's not a big deal for us, but it might be for some. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider coming back.

A motel at best (check trip advisor), not trusting the reviews? Not worth $350+ a night. Pluses are great water pressure, hot water. The only staff member we saw (who was manning the front desk, the bartender, and the maintenance person) was very nice and helpful. They fixed a broken screen door (the room had no air conditioning, but a fan was provided), thank goodness, as the room was warm. The Wi-Fi (quite necessary, as there is poor cell reception) was down for a while (again, the helpful innkeeper was busy fixing that too). The motel is going for a boutique hotel feel, but it is still a work in progress. The on-site restaurant wasn’t open, the “bar” consisted of a couple of beers, begrudgingly served. The breakfast was minimal, similar to a low end chain motel free breakfast. The motel is within walking distance to the beach, but no view and not waterfront. The outdoor fire pit was full of garbage and cigarette butts. The paper thin rooms transferred noise easily, but the fan drowned it out. The balcony was run down, do not drink the water. They should be charging $150 at best. The innkeeper offered to reduce/comp our stay for the trouble, but my credit card was still charged the full $350… (see photos!).

Had reservations there last night for a goodbye dinner for a friend. In all consideration, I believe they did exceptionally well for only having 3 staff members and a full restaurant. There were a few food items that were not given to us (mistakes happen, no worries). I do believe with more staff that they will do very well as a business in the future. I will return with my own family as I quite enjoyed the wing choices. Thank you!

This hotel has seen better days. Whole place is jaded by time and needs a makeover soon. Given this the cost of $310.00 was way overpriced

The lodge has been recently updated. Room was nice, clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom upgraded as well.
The location is convenient and close to the highways and up the road from the water.
BUT it was $350 for the night. We booked a room in July 2023 not realizing this lodge does not have air conditioning. It was so hot in the room. There was a fan I put by the open patio door hoping for a cool night, but that did not happen.
Also, no complimentary water in the rooms or a mini coffee maker.
I would not stay there again knowing for that money I could find a place that offered everything.

We arrive late due to a terrible snowstorm.
Since the staff had been sent home due to the weather, A. J.the owner welcomes us in. There wasn’t any open restaurants in the area due to the storm so A. J.shared his own dinner with us. It was was a real memorable night which we won’t soon forget. Although we have a cottage ourselves, we plan to return in the summer. The lodge is beautiful and clean and would highly recommend it.

Hosts were kind helpful and really friendly. They could not do enough to ensure our stay was perfect.
Rooms were clean and very comfortable
The location was excellent and the breakfast was delicious.

Great little continental breakfast, comfy bed, clean and upgraded bathroom. Very inviting reception and lodge sitting area that’s modern but cozy and cottage style. Love it and will stay again, Ajay was a gracious host and very helpful! I appreciated the call ahead from him to let me know what services were close by and what we may wish to bring as travelling with a little one, Santa’s village is about 20 minutes away and easy to get to! A great stay!

Great homey lodge! Comfortable clean and amazing hosts who gave us great suggestions on restaurants and activities in the area.

We loved our time there and will be coming back.

I planned a stay for my parents anniversary and birthday at the 3 Pines Lodge and I’m so glad I did. The room was lovely and clean.
And Indi from 3 Pines Lodge offered exceptional service and arranged a chocolate cake to celebrate the occasions. He really went above and beyond to make their stay so special. I am so grateful!

Great experience for two nights here. We had the smallest room in the Inn but it was large and roomy for two adults. We had a lovely king size bed with crisp, clean white sheets. Medium hardness. Whole room was extra clean - shower was new / upgraded. Two large windows that opened with screens. T. V that worked, small fridge and very small coffee maker (we brought our own as we like coffee)! Check in was seamless and friendly. Lots of chairs to enjoy outside. Two amazing living rooms in main lodge with beautifully done decor. Inn was nice and quiet with no disturbance from other guests. Complimentary Continental breakfast was a nice touch. Could have used more fresh fruit though, strawberry jam for croissants and more of a variety of juices! Fresh, baked goods was a nice touch. Inn located centrally close to Port Sydney Beach. I would highly recommend this location for a short stay in the Huntsville / Muskoka area. Please note - there was no AC in the room but two fans and two windows kept it plenty cool.

I stayed at 3 Pines Lodge recently, and I know they are under new ownership as I have stayed before.

The service this time was extremely underwhelming. First the breakfast was under-served (some people didnt get a chance to eat because there wasnt enough food out), and consisted of cereal, coffee, and green bananas. There were some store bought, stale pastries that were out as well.

The rooms were extremely hot, with just a fan. This would be OK, I understand not everywhere has air conditioning, but the entrance had no screen door, and in some of the worst mosquitos of the season we had to choose between sweating or being eaten by bugs. (They have one of those magnetic closures held in with sticky velcro. These were broken when we got the room)

The owner was also confrontational when we asked him about this stuff, and said that's just how it is.

Pretty disappointed with my stay. Maybe it's a cosy place in the winter, but the lack of any reasonably good food at any time, poor service, and outdated facilities make this an overpriced venue despite the beautiful setting

Room was big and the bed was very comfortable! Price is steep for an old building still under reno ($300 on a Wednesday night). We paid less for a lakeview room at the Residence Inn in Gravenhurst the night before. No restaurant or AC here (which we were aware of at booking). Price just seems to be a bit of a gouge. Muskoka area is expensive but this wasn’t comparable to other rooms in this price range.

There was no restaurant there.breakfast was not till 8a.m. And was sorely lacking.had ti ask for housekeeping to provide towels and clean the room.this established is not as advertised.there are no near by restaurants near by you have to drive 19km.to get food.maybe a microwave and coffee pot in the rooms might be a good idea.

Stayed for 2 nights to get some nice northern exposure and was very pleased with 3 pines Lodge in Port Sydney.
Indy was at the front desk ready to greet us and even offered to help us with our luggage to our room.
We noticed a fire pit out front and asked if we could sit by the fire the first night and Indy was very abliging. Soon enough other guests joined us and Indy who stayed and fed the fire and conversation for the evening.
The room was clean and had nice clean bedding and towels.
The lodge is historic and therefore difficult to install A/C
But fans were provided and because it was the second week of September it cooled down nicely at night for sleeping. The Continental breakfast was great as well as the coffee and selection of Teas, it gave us a nice start to our day.
Over all a great spot, handy to the beach /park but a big thanks to Indy for being so helpful and friendly with everyone, he made our stay great and we would definitely be back to Port Sydney! Happy birthday Indy! Cathy and Derrick Plumb from Ajax.

There is no air conditioning, which made for a very uncomfortable sleep. The restaurant is not open. The included breakfast wasn't fantastic, there are no secondary locks on the bedrooms. The included cable had limited channels. It is nicely renovated and tastefully decorated. Not worth the money in my opinion.

Had a wonderful stay in August 2022.
A few things to note: there is no air conditioning, though the room did have 2 fans. WiFi was very spotty and generally unreliable. Room lacked a dresser (living out of a bag for 4 night's isn't my favorite) and black-out shades. Otherwise, everything was perfect- the team on-site was super friendly. Breakfast was plentiful with hot options each morning. Proximity to the beach and falls was incredible. Shower temperature and pressure were great. Loved the overall muskoka vibes! Would happily return.

Beautifully decorated very comfortable large room. A little bit out of town, if you don’t mind. Lovely lodge decor.the staff were great to check me in, and had a wonderdul breakfast assortment ready in the morning. The coffee is fantastic. Electric Fireplace in the rooms a nice touch. Staff helpful in Transporting bags.

What a fabulous stay! Friendly and professional staff, very nice and clean room, nice breakfast served in a clean dinning room. The owner worked with heart and always tried her best accommodating most of our needs. My husband and I felt that the owner and staff went beyond to make our stay a pleasant and happy one. Recommended also for people traveling with pets.

Fantastic experience from start to finish! Privately owned by a friendly couple who have renovated it recently. Everywhere was very clean. Breakfast had a few home made items like mini frittata, home made jam and banana bread in addition to regular cereal, English muffins and yoghurt. The coffee was delicious and fab selection of teas. Check out the unique sauna too!

We received a phone call from the hotel the night before our intended booking, and the clerk was asking when we were intending on checking in - turned out that we had accidentally booked for the day prior to when we had intended to. We apologized for our mistake, and understood that if it was too busy, we would simply make alternate plans.

After a few less than pleasant phone conversations with the Lodge, wherein they had very condescendingly implied that we had done this on purpose, and were likely to not show up if they rebooked us, and repeatedly told us that the Muskokas are very busy this time of year, we ended up being rebooked for the intended day (+1 star).

When we showed up the next day to check in, there were 3 vehicles in the parking lot. This location was not nearly as busy as they had implied over the phone, and the tone of the previous evening's phone calls was seemingly very uncalled for.

In addition to the lack of professionalism on the phone, our room smelled strongly of cigarettes, and we found the room to not have:
- Any secondary locks on the doors (staff have unfettered access to the rooms)
- a coffee machine
- air conditioning
- reliable WiFi
In addition to a few other basic amenities that come standard at many other hotels.

TLDR; very disappointed with our stay, wish we would have spent our money elsewhere.

EDIT, Following a response from the owners to the above review wherein they claimed we did not thank them for changing the booking for us:
Ajay hung up on my gf as she said thank you at the end of the second phone call. She had also apologized for booking the incorrect date to the other person that she had talked to on the first phone call. I had thanked them at the end of both of the phone calls that I had with them.

If this type of response (which is rude, unprofessional, and utterly untrue) is not clear evidence that the current management has 0 people skills, I don't know what is.

Take a look at the reviews, and you'll notice that a solid portion of the reviews starting in 2022 are negative. New ownership should require new owners to earn 5-star reviews, not benefit from the previous owner's hard work.

Additionally, the Google listing for this location claims that this hotel also has a Bar/Grill, which isn't true at all. In relation to this, many of the positive reviews mention the fantastic food provided at this location - those reviews can obviously be completely ignored when looking at this location.

You cannot go wrong with 3 Pines Lodge. Cosy rooms, balcony with a serene view, hospitable owners (Hemali and AJ were great). The place felt like home. There is camp fire during weekends. Good parking space. Great options for breakfast. Very close to Port Sydney beach and Arrowhead trail. Overall 10/10 and would stay again.
