One of the best game stores in Canada, and certainly in the Toronto area. Always well stocked with cards and board games, and their prices are extremely competitive. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and always willing to help you find what you're looking for.

As a large Collector and long time player/fan this is my #1 Yu Gi Oh resource! Great selection, supply, and "Return" (Buylists)

Store has a wide selection of all trading card games. Magic, Yu gi oh, Pokemon etc. If you are looking to duel people bring your deck here, they got dueling tables in the back.

Very rude staff, have no idea what i am doing wrong met with extreme anger and hostility when i key in my order number using the new system to pickup preorders i avoid picking up my things on time on weekdays completely, weekend staff much better.

Heard about this store from a friend after a games night. Decided to look them up online and make an order. The prices are amazing and from what I found everything I wanted was significantly cheaper then it was on Amazon! I placed an order and shipping was quick and everything was packed perfectly. I highly recommend this place for all of your games needs! Shipping may be longer then normal right now because we are approaching the holiday season!

Good place when looking to buy board games, went there and bought a used Catan game for 5 bucks which was amazing. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes playing board games or is interested in starting.

Did not ship in the promised 1-3 days, did not listen to the special instructions even though I did put some for delivery time (and if that wasn't an option, they didn't bother to tell me) and did not even deliver all products ordered.
Edit: Bumped up to 3 stars for decent customer service and actually getting the product eventually.

I ordered a hobby box of hockey cards from them and they shipped it promptly to Alberta for me. I got it quite quickly, and they even threw in a bonus pack of cards. Prices were excellent! I'll definitely be ordering from them again.

Ordered Digimon cards based on a friend's recommendation and was not at all disappointed! My order was shipped out fast and I even got it sooner than expected! Everything was packed so nicely and there was even some extra goodies on top. I'll definitely be buying from here again!:)

They had some awesome board games. Pokemon card prices were getting close to scalper levels. I wouldn't suggest coming here for packs unless there's something very specific you want, even then they might not have it and expect Mark up. For example, you can buy a shining fatesoni tin for 20 bucks via indigo and they were charging 30+. The guy at the counter was also rude and seemed bothered that I'd even ask if they had specific stock.

The product selection good and prices are competitive with other stores. If you require shipping, be prepared to wait. Even if the product is in stock, it often takes multiple days to ship. Last time I ordered a product on a Tuesday after hours, and they didn’t ship until after hours on Friday (so actually noon Monday). Kinda defeats the idea of expidited shipping….

Been trading and buying from 401 for over a decade and it means nothing to them. Infamous for there terrible customer service. Countless poor experiences. Had enough when for the second time I was sent identical boxes of Upper Deck Allure. Sports cards are printed in order so you can easily search out certain cards, and they do that. Leaving behind the same bad boxes. Extremely unprofessional and sketchy behavior, a staple of 401 games.

The best place in the city downtown for Pokémon cards, convenient and steps from Yonge/Bloor subway. As promised they always deliver, we just received a notice for in-store pickup for Pokémon Fusion Strike Booster Box and Build & Battle, and most places are still awaiting orders to be filled!
Hands down! Highly recommended and get your pre-order in time and you won’t be disappointed!

Hi all i want to leave a review in relation to 401 games.ca dangerous practices as a business. I ordered pokemon cards and specifically indicated in my shipping request to have it delivered to my sidedoor and do not want to pick it up at the post office in covid 19 times to not rick my safety, in my town when it goes to the main post office which it did, it ends up at the biggest mall in town which has 100s of people there daily. Now this is dangerous practice because when i complained about how i requested a side door delivery the response what oh sorry next time sent us a email of your accomodation before you make your order because our shippers missed your request (they dont read shipping requests) now this is dangerous and puts the community at rick, order at your own risk for their shippers are incompetent. I am writing this review because i hope it makes a change in there company. Also i will not be ordering from them anymore so i dont care if they dont want to sell to me anymore id rather order with a company that has shippers that read shipping requests and dont endanger there clients.

Updated review: The place is just as great, still pretty spacious and really organized. Their staff are very nice and have specific team members that are equipped to answer your questions. If you have a question on board games, there are staff that can answer based on preference, size and objective to help you narrow down their inventory. Definitely a reliable place for board game diversity and trading games. They also have a whiteboard for their events calendar as well for events they host in the back. They also have Wi-Fi and conveniently a section dedicated for online pickups as well. Still consistently good to stop by!

Review from 5 years ago: They have a really large selection of board games, like really large. They used to have half the unit size, so it's pretty awesome that they now have more than double the selection. They have a really nice set up here for also the card games, game accessories and also trading card sections. And also they have a gaming space in the back as well! It's so convenient to play games and buy games as well.

This place could get really really busy at times as there is just so much to see and do and learn from staff members. Do ask them, as they know so much about games! Recommendations and such for new games are always a plus!

I love that their website also has most of their selections online.

They have a great selection of tcg, supplies, game boards, and basically what you would need to entertain yourself or with friends and family. But mistakes happen when you order singles in person but I’ll still stop by every now or then. Thank you.

This place used to be the one to go to for cards. Now everything is insanely overpriced, and just unreasonable. NOTHING is ever at MSRP, and they'll simply tell you "we price it based on market pricing" but puts some items at a 400% markup. This place has just turned into one big scam. I can find cheaper alternatives almost anywhere now.

Promised to price match, then refused, then refused to cancel the order unless i paid a 10% for an item that isn't even in stock. That's like going to a store, buying 100$ a product you never received then, changing your mind and the store charging you a 10$ fee for changing your mind because the item is overpriced and isn't in stock.

Great place when you want to buy board games, there is a lot of selections and great prices. Parking is a little issue as you are on Yonge street, lots of green p lots so you can park. The staff are courteous and they let you shop without too many questions. If you have questions or concerns they are there to ensure you are happy. The team at this location are great and knowledgeable. Thank you guys.

Has lots of different games, some minis and tcg packs. Not enough to be a good selection. If your a beginner at a game with nothing and are looking to get what you need to start playing this place is good.

Ordered online from these guys and the process was fast and the cards I ordered were great. Got some sweet pulls. I'd for sure order from you guys again as your prices are considerably better than Amazon and you've got a good selection.

I showed up looking for a very specific item. They did not have it in store, but the guy behind the counter went out of his way to give me directions to an out of the way store where he'd seen what I was looking for.

I found it, and without the kindness of this staff member, I'd still be looking. Now that's customer service!

Love this place I go to it all the time for pokemon cards and its great having a large space for events, the staff are super helpful and very nice to bounce ideas off of for specific games, great store that I highly recommend to anyone looking for board games or getting into tcg.

A solid selection of board games, ttrpg books, a decent warhammer stock for a small hobby shop. There is areas in the back to play games. My only gripe is that the dice are behind glass or the counter making them hard to see, but thats not enough to remove a star. I would recommend.

Great selection of board games, from casual to hard core types. Knowledgeable staff. Great website to see what each store has and their inventory. The Vaughan location has a lot more variety and inventory.

Pretty nice place for all around hobbies and board games. Don't expect for a specific hobby like MTG or Warhammer to have a lot of things to sell but you can expect some products.

Staff are also friendly and helpful. They don't have a noticeable face of not liking their job haha.

There is a large space in the back of the store that holds tournaments of some games. Assuming MTG, Pokémon and maybe Warhammer.

The only reason I took off one star from 5 is because it seems a bit barren for lack of a better word. What I'm trying to say is that it's like a convenience store for tabletop hobby games or just board games in general. You'll find the topic of what you're looking for but not EXACTLY what you are looking for, if that makes sense.

All-in-all, highly recommend at least a looksie. Talk to the staff, maybe you'll learn something nice about an upcoming event.

Great selection of games and Pokemon trading cards. We first saw them online for pre-orders of new Pokémon sets and wanted to check them out before ordering. They do price above MSRP so check your prices compared to others. But if you’re looking for hard to find sets and boxes, check with them to see if they have them.

This is my staple for tabletop games.

My wife just informed me that she had ordered me a Chilling reign booster box back in early June as a Father’s Day gift. Unfortunately once the pre release was available and shipped it did not arrive at our house. We have a door camera and no attempt was made. With this being said I completely understand that it is not 401 games issue. What is an issue is the fact that my wife has been asking for a resolution patiently for weeks now. They don’t write any new update but simply reply with the exact same pre written text blaming the issue on Canada post and dismissing the fact that no update Etc has been offered. The service she received has been awful and after spending close to. $200 this is quite disappointing.

Ordered online from the west coast. They told me it should take a week and a half and it was way less! Product arrived in pristine condition, well packed with excellent communication from them. Not only did they email me when the order shipped, but they even did so again when my order had been delivered so I knew to look out for it.

Would absolutely love to visit the store some time!

I've dropped way too much of my paycheques at this place. I like the selection. Their prices on average are as good as you can find anywhere in Canada. The free shipping threshold is very easy for me to hit every time I make an order, which is either great or horrifying. Shipping is typically fast, even with a pandemic running amok in Toronto. And the one or two times I've had an issue and called, they were very responsive. I can't ask for more than that.

Really, I just want an employee's discount so I can buy even more games. But then I'd need a bigger basement.

Price gauge! They have raised they’re Pokémon TCG prices to scalper prices! In the span of two months almost all their products have doubled. They know they are a huge distributor for Canada so have no problem bleeding their customers for money! Even pre orders have had their prices raised.for products not even out.

I honestly don't know what's happening with you guys anymore. It's like you're purposely trying to ruin TCGs for locals and other people who browse on your website. You guys are known to be the big guys for LGS, but your prices are no where near competitive to the smaller dudes, they're just ridiculously high. Hoping for the best so I can one day come back. I know I could've just pre-ordered and get the lower price but not liking the restock fee if I cancel when you're just going to sell it for 100%+ more

Horrible experience with their online "free shipping. " I specifically placed a large order of around $800 to receive the free shipping. First problem I encountered was that they would not even send the product because the billing address did not match the shipping address. I had to speak with customer service 3 or 4 times to get this issue resolved. After the issue was resolved, the order was shipped, but because it was over $500 I still had to pick it up from a Canada post. They gave no warning that I would have to pick it up. I don't have a car, and it was extremely difficult for me to carry my large order back home. Also, stay away from their singles. I purchased a "NM" condition card with possibly the worst centering I have seen in my life. Would not recommend using 401 games.

Price and selection of cards are OK, but when it's time to pay it is really complicated. At the beginning there was only the option to pay through Paypal. I did twice but everytime it keeps telling me my phone number is not valide. No where on the website I manage to fins easily their phone number. I'll give one more try to see if they improve in the next few months.

Plenty of board games and card games if that's what you're after. Most staff will greet you and ask if you need assistance, I get they need to serve all the people that come through the store but it's awkward when having a discussion about the product and they break off and start having a full on conversation with another person. There is an events calendar in the store, I feel like before the pandemic events were held in the store, if you're looking for move of the comic book culture you'll find that down the road at Yonge St and Dundas St at the Silver Snail.

I tried to shop local instead of Amazon. Stopped by the location at 750 yonge st. First asked for a recommendation and was told they couldn’t help me. Check the website. Then asked if they had a game in stock. Was told yes. Can I buy it? No. Order it on our website and we will email you when it’s ready for pickup. I was standing in your store doorway, can see what I wanted. Incredibly unhelpful.

Ordered a board game during their Black Friday sale for a gift for my partner as I wanted to shop local. 401 Games ended up cancelling my order because they sold me something they didn’t have in stock. If I had known it was sold out at 401 Games, I could have ordered elsewhere and gotten the board game I was planning to get at a discount during the Black Friday sale. Thanks for wasting my time and money. Will not be a customer in the future.

Just remember when you shop here you put the little guy out of business! (Covid-19 affects them most)
401 games is a beast! Check out their Vaughan location, it's pretty darn big!
Their prices are better than most!
Staff tend to be sullen and grouchy.

Made an online purchase, they have a great interface which is very easy to navigate. Prices are really competitive, and everything came quickly and in great shape. Will shop online again for sure. Will check out the store when the pandemic is over

Never visited their store physically - had some items shipped to my house and it was really treated with care. Wrapped my products and also put u-line bubbles inside the box to make sure my products weren’t moving too much during transit. Thank you for the great prices and packaging.

I moved to Toronto 15 years ago and 401 was the first game store I frequented. It was a place to meet new friends, play games I loved, and hang out. Although I may not be able to game as much any more, I've stopped by recently and the energy of the venue is the same as it ever was. 401 is a great venue and I'm glad they're continuing to make memories for a new generation of gamers.

I have spent a copious amount of time (and money) within these walls and have only extremely positive things to say about the service that I recieve. Working within the customer service industry I can tell you that my experience with the staff here has been nothing short of amazing. Jeff F, Andy, Micah, and Ibrahim have all been stand-out contributers to my excellent experiences over the years, and have exemplified what it means to be subject matter experts. They will make each transaction memorable by giving you their undivided attention to make sure you leave with a positive lasting impression.
