I couldn’t say enough good things about this place. To be honest, when I saw all the bad reviews, I got worried. However, from the moment we arrived at the animal hospital we were greeted with nothing but compassion and consideration. The Front desk staff, the vets, technicians, assistants and surgical team, everyone made us feel welcome and safe and we knew our Maci girl was in good hands following a horrific accident. They took the absolute best care of her and returned her to us in better shape than we brought her there. We couldn’t thank the team enough! So grateful they accepted our Maci as a patient despite the obvious shortage in veterinary staff all over. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I agree with the other reviews; this place is to be avoided AT ALL COSTS. The staff are rude, unprofessional and hostile. We called about an emergency with our Whippet's red swollen eye that was causing her extreme pain and we were told there was no wait and to bring her in. We arrived to a rude reception desk of three staff members who were unprofessional and disinterested in doing their jobs.they were sullen, disinterested and unfriendly. We were told a vet tech would be out shortly but no one arrived until 1.5 hours later. At that point a sharp rude vet tech approached us who was as cold as ice. She looked at our dog's eye in the lobby for a second (literally a glance) said our dog's eye was no longer swollen so we would have to wait 6-8 hours to be seen. She refused to renew a prescription for anti-biotic eye drops and was rude and condescending. She didn't care that our dog was in pain and took pleasure in turning us away. My husband and I were both shocked and disgusted at the obvious power trip this vet tech was on and on how nasty and unpleasant she was. She acted as if we had never been to a vets office before. What a joke. We are experienced animal owners and can only say that this clinic is to be avoided at all costs. There is a terrible work ethic and office culture at this clinic; they are not nice people. Our beloved animals deserve much better then these miserable people.

I recommend "MOVEH" the Emergency hospital in Oakville. It is a bit of a drive but they are excellent; very skilled, compassionate and caring vets.

We visited this clinic 2 weeks ago due to blood in our dog's urine. After a few hours the examined our dog and said that it was most likely an infection and recommended taking antibiotics for a week, if a week is not enough and the symptoms do not go away, then come back for medication to prolong the treatment. (by the way a superficial examination and medication cost $ 300, of this medication $30, which was strange). After a week, the symptoms did not go away and we returned for medication to prolong treatment. After our request to buy medications for another week, we were told that we would not receive the medication without an examination for almost $300 more, although this was not discussed on our first visit. There was nothing to do and we were left to wait for the doctor. After 3 hours of waiting, we were told that we would have to wait another 40 minutes. We were indignant because we just needed medication, but they wanted money for an unnecessary examination. On. K.after another hour of waiting and our patience came to the end, it was reported that the doctor still busy and we would have to wait between 1 to 3 hours and if we don't like it, then you can go to any other clinic (this is repeat visit and more than 4 hours of waiting). It was no longer possible to tolerate this attitude and we left this place. We have never seen such an attitude towards clients for their own money, not to mention the attitude of a doctor towards a sick animal. Only money! Our recommendation is not to even come close to this clinic, it was all disgusting, what happened is not clear, a year ago everything was still okay and suddenly such terrible changes.

The care and sensitvity demonstarted by the entier staff was outstanding. I do applogize for not being able to address this to all the individuals, but as a group there delicate manor was something to be proud of. FYI in all my years I have never made a public comment on the servces I have received weather excellent or poor, but felt this time I must speak out about this.
21 October 2023 16:54
The staff here are wonderful. A very welcoming, friendly and calm atmosphere, NOT like a hospital. Plenty of space, clean exam rooms and our pet received top notch surgery at a reasonable price for what it was. Fortunately we have insurance, but irrespective, it was a fair price for the length of the stay and services required to get out pooch back to feeling better. The staff were flexible with pick up, explained processes and procedures well and allowed for questions, just overall one of the most pleasant trips to a vet hospital, given the circumstances. Would definitely recommend. Once again, the front staff are INCREDIBLY patient and friendly. They all deserve a raise putting up with some people.

Last night was a very difficult night for my husband and I. The tech with reddish hair and tattoos was incredibly compassionate, gentle and displayed genuine empathy while my husband and I grieved the sudden loss of our 12 year old persian. I mentioned that the blanket I brought her in was dirty and I didn’t want to hand her over in something so filthy. She ran to another room and brought a bed and warm blanket to wrap her in. My last memory of her will be snuggling in a comfy bed wrapped in a warm blanket. I am heartbroken but grateful for that gesture and care.

We took our dog to this vet for an emergency bladder stone surgery, we were very happy to finally get him in and get him taken care of and were happy with the promptness and care. But sadly when something went wrong a week later and we brought him back, we spent $1000 and spent 12 hours to just find out that he had to be put down as soon as possible as we were told he had days to weeks to live because his liver was failing as we speak. We took him home at our judgement and let him say goodbye to family. Next thing we knew the issue went away and got him checked up at another vet to get a second opinion and they said he is completely fine and seems as healthy as ever. It is 6 months later and he is healthier than ever living his best life and has multiple amazing vet visits since at our new vet. We were told our boy was never going to make it and grieved accordingly for no reason. The amount we were put through in that night and following days just waiting for the worst to happen was horrible and as much as emergency vets are much needed this one is not it. We almost put our boy down that night when we’ve gotten to spend many more months with him and soon to be many more years. I believe they messed something up in the surgery and just told us it is a very low chance it was their fault and that it was 99% just his liver failing. We are grateful everyday we didn’t listen to them and we still have our boy. He is only 4 and has so much more life in him and we are so glad we got a second opinion.

This is the worst place to take your dog. We had the worst experience ever on a Sunday, all this place cares is about money. They milked us 1000$ to tell us that our dog was ok, when we got home and called the next day to talk to them explaining the god was in pain again and we that are not doctors, found the spot that is hurting our dog, they said they can’t do anything and we’ll have to pay a full consultation again because we left there at 3pm, and we called at 7pm the next day so 24hours passed by.
If you guys really love your pet, don’t take to this place! All they see is $$$
05 June 2023 13:31
If I could give this zero stars I would. My bunny went to this vet since our usual vet was closed because she was not eating or moving. We were told that our bunny was sick, and she may pass at any moment. They did not tell us what was wrong with her, or any factors that could've caused her to get sick.

They highly advised she stay with the overnight so they could assess her in the morning. The stay overnight would cost $2000. This cost did not include the diagnostic, x-ray, bloodwork, etc. All of that would be additional payment.

We wanted to take her home to spend her last days with us instead of in a strange and unfamiliar environment. They said they keep her warm for a bit, and then send her home with us. 4 hours later, they still hadn't talked to us, and we had to ask the receptionist multiple times when we were getting our bunny back. They would not give us our pet back saying "her condition was critical, ". Until, finally they gave us her back; with their reminder that there was a good chance she wouldn't survive the night.

At home, she would not take the pain killer or the critical care no matter how much we tried to coax her and force it in. Instead she preferred HER OWN FOOD! Her appetite and exercise habits went back to normal and she did not "die" as they said. We ended up paying $500 to be given pain killer, which she did not take, and critical care, which she also did not take. Please, if you want your pet in good hands, do not come to this vet. I was misled and lied to, please do not make the same mistake!

I don't typically write reviews, but VCA Canada 404 really deserves a 5-star rating. We have been dealing with complications for our 7 month old puppy - Millie, as she kept getting misdiagnosed by multiple emergencies and vets which resulted in various amounts of tests and even a surgery. VCA was so sympathetic and caring throughout the entire process when our vet referred us to this hospital due to her increasing concerns. The doctors took their time in explaining exactly what procedures/tests they planned to do, and were extremely transparent when it came to pricing. This was the first time throughout these past 1.5 weeks of panic and heartbreak, where we had left an emergency/vet clinic feeling a sign of relief that our puppy was finally in good hands.

To the administrative team who greeted us with smiles, the loving vet techs who showed Millie so much affection, and the talented Doctors (especially Dr. Crain & Dr Flint for daily updates) - thank you for everything. We are truly so grateful for the entire VCA 404 team - for educating us on Millie's condition and for taking such good care of our pup.

I highly recommend this clinic.
Our 8.5 yr old Bullmastiff collapsed at home from an unknown heart issue and was not in good shape. He was rushed to this local clinic for emergency care as it was after 10pm. Upon arrival, we were greeted by two staff members with a gurney who very quickly got our 130lb boy in for assessment. Nothing could have prepared us for saying goodbye so suddenly that evening. We truly could not be more thankful for the care he received, and the way in which we were treated throughout one of the worst evenings of our lives.
We found the prices to be very fair, especially given that it was so late in the evening. The all-round genuine compassion was what really what gave us some peace at such a difficult time. I don't know how this team does what they do for a living, but we are so grateful to have had them in our time of need.

A huge thank you to Dr. Pegg and her wonderful Technicians. They took great care of our dog Bean, treating him like their own. Everyone was very communicative and answered all of my questions. Your work and efforts are much appreciated!
22 April 2023 3:20
Great service from Dr. Paige, and all of the staff! Thank you so much for helping our Cersei!
22 February 2023 1:32
We brought our sweet Beatsey to the hospital 3 days ago with a cough and trouble breathing. They took him in immediately and started critical care to him. They did what they could to try and save his life and kept us informed the entire time. Unfortunately our baby boy could not be saved. They brought him to us to say goodbye with such loving care. They are angels. Thank you for letting our dear boy die with such dignity.
02 February 2023 2:27
They really came through for me today following an ear infection emergency with my dog, and I’m so grateful for their rapid response and immediate assistance.
30 January 2023 8:33
We don’t have pets however we would like to commend the staff here at the hospital. Our team did some drywall repairs throughout the hospital and found that we were in the way of the staff during the repairs or vice versa. I cannot stress enough how busy it was and the staff were very accomodating, and worked with us to get the repairs done. All while taking care of their amazing cute patients. We also noticed how well mannered the staff were and how they took care of all the animals that came through. If we have pets in future, we will definitely bring them here. We highly recommend.
28 January 2023 3:41
I got a referral to this hospital for my dog’s emergency bladder stone removal surgery. Upon arrival we were greeted by staff and within a few minutes they took her in for treatment. During the 48 hours that my dog Lizzie was there, we received multiple phone calls updating us on her condition. The surgery went very well and she made a speedy recovery. Both the service and the staff were so amazing! I definitely recommend VCA 404 Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital.
22 November 2022 15:32
I had to bring my dog in for an emergency at 1130pm. I had already called another clinic and they had said it was gonna be another 7hrs wait if we had decided to come. My second try was with VCA clinic and they were quick to answer my call and they were quick to bring him in and assess. I cant be any more grateful for the efforts in taking care of Frankie and myself. Thank you Dr Flint and staff for making the experience smooth and worthwhile.
06 November 2022 2:45
My dog had spinal surgery and deteriorating function in her back legs, so we spent a lot of time with Virgilia and the Rebab Team. Can't say enough about the effort and care they took with us. My little doggo reached the end of the line, but thanks to their care she gained some really good months which she would not have otherwise had. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Yes.
28 October 2022 10:31
Front desk ladies we're very welcoming and friendly. The Doctors and Technicians were knowledgeable, kind and gentle with our parrot Snowy. Everyone made us feel very welcome. Beautiful and clean practice.:)
27 October 2022 3:38
Took my dog Alfie in to 404 VCA when he lost all sense of what he was doing and could not walk
These people working the night shift did there upmost and diagnosed and treated my Alfie
Truly awesome place and would highly recommend to any pet owners in the area
Thank you for all your help
22 October 2022 17:03
To those people complaining about the cost of services at this clinic- if you won’t pay for good veterinary care, then don’t get a pet. Its a huge responsibility to own an animal and it costs $$$$ to take good care of a pet. What you perceive as pushing services on you, is not an objective interpretation- the vets just want your animal properly cared for. Its your problem that you don’t want to spend the money. I just wish the clinic had a cardiologist. They are hard to find.
13 October 2022 12:24
So far the best emergency vet clinic we’ve been too. Dr. Boucher and staff were really understanding, helpful and friendly.
10 October 2022 2:27
This place did not help us my dog bulldog had a major surgery and we were told to pick her up a day later and bring her home with no after care instructions no doctors to explain her medication to me when we picked her up only to have her 5 days later pass away at home after calling them two days in and asking them if her panting was normal for them to tell me she was fine no need to bring her in! You did us no good $9000.00 later and a dog we no longer get to love you service was horrible.
03 October 2022 23:51
We cannot say enough good things about 404 Vet Emergency Services. We called Saturday of a long weekend for our 2 Husky’s that had been quilled. We did have to wait as they were busy but hands down the best care our Kylo and Halen could have had. The vet technician and Doctor were so kind and caring and the price was so reasonable (we had been quoted $3000/per dog over the phone by an emergency vet in Brampton) Needless to say, the staff at 404 Veterinary were incredible and we highly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable emergency vet service.
Thank you!

Called today August 6th at 12: 45pm from Barrie! They advised it will be a 4 hour wait approximately but I could drive to NewMarket for my Maxx to be seen! When I got there they advised me it would be 5-6 hours because critical care is most important and my dog bleeding blood as his stool was not critical; car accidents etc would be! My Jack-Russel cross and I went and waited in my car until 2: 45 when they called us in! I was pleasantly surprised! Within 5 minutes he was out after doing vitals that they said were all fine and because of that we had to continue to wait! Out to the car I went until 7: 00pm because I couldn’t wait any longer! I had a family as well at home! He wasn’t doing diarrhea blood or any diarrhea so that’s why I left! It’s now 9: 20pm and I haven’t received a phone call for Maxx to be seen or if he is okay at all?
Who does that? Not even to ask if he’s okay? I’ve tried calling now to see if they remembered Maxx had an appointment and they keep transferring it to their recording! Call display is a great thing for them!
I will never go back or recommend them! Who doesn’t even call to see how the animal is; or if he’s feeling worse etc, who?
Worst vet hospital I have ever been to! DONT TAKE YOUR PRECIOUS BABY THERE!
02 September 2022 1:05
Called 404 at 3: 50 am, a receptionist/vet tech picked up right away and seemed very genuine and caring about my issues with my new pup (started vomiting at 3: 40 am after dry heaving through day, hours after vaccines). They were very kind, listened to what happened, and showed great compassion. They assured me that it was quite normal but to keep an eye on the pup and bring her in if the situation changed for the worse. I was also very happy that they didn't try to have me come in to do un-needed exams and tests if I didn't need to in order to gain a paying customer. Due to their attitude/ care and them not attempting to rack up un-needed vet bills, I would be very happy to go to 404 if a serious emergency ever does occur.
31 August 2022 16:19
I have recently started taking my pup here for rehab/physiotherapy. Meeting with Dr Rowland, I wasn’t overly impressed- I wasn’t sure how thorough the exam was. Boy was I wrong! Two days later I received an incredibly thorough report of my pup’s exam, the detail was great. It was very helpful. Dr Rowland’s bedside manor is casual, but his mind is in hyper speed observing and processing info about your dog. Very impressive!

My pup has spent some time working with Sydney, who is also spectacularly informed, very knowledgeable, and just fantastic. She’s very easy to talk to, explains things really well. Truly thankful for Sydney’s expertise!

I took off a star because the admin side of things is a bit disorganized. It seems that the clinic is getting back to normal after Covid protocols disrupting everything, so it’s understandable but from a client perspective, it’s difficult to hear “we’re waiting for management to settle on a policy”. Management needs to get their act together and come up with clear policies so their staff can answer basic questions. The admin staff are also fantastic, they are friendly, helpful, kind, and hard working. They need the support of management in order to do their jobs effectively.

Overall, I would absolutely recommend this clinic. The staff are fantastic. If you want the best for your pet, this is it.
11 June 2022 4:51
These guys could not have been more compassionate at a tough time for our little odin. Though they couldn't save odin, they were incredibly understanding and accommodating. They let us see him. They brought him in on a cat bed with a blanket to keep him warm before we had to make the very hard choice. Thank you for all you did in helping us through this. <3
10 May 2022 21:38
My Dog had 2 seizures yesterday (Sunday) when I called I was so panicked and I wish I got names but every person I talked to we so good, taking time to make sure I was okay, explaining what I should do and then when my dog was admitted just walking me through what would happen. I was so worried about him being away from us for the night I called to check if he was doing okay, and they let me know how he was. In the morning when I got an update call I felt so much better because every person I talked to seemed like they really cared. Honestly I hope I do not have anything like this happen again but if I do I will be back. Thank you so much to all the staff
27 April 2022 21:38
I would rate it zero stars. Trying to make things bigger than it is wasting people time and money. Also trying to take my pet away from me. Really shady people. If they refuse to return my pet i will be filing charges.
13 April 2022 11:25
My 16-year-old cat had an emergency on Feb 27. It was Sunday and we were new in this area. I rushed over in the morning. Dr. Brontë Boucher and the lady who answered the phone were so nice, understanding, friendly and gave the clear guidance. I believe my cat was in good hands although I didn't enter in. I found she was so calm when she returned. She recovered fast with treatment. Thank you so much for all of you.
07 April 2022 12:15
Honestly I would give 0 stars if I could and I haven't even stepped foot into your practice. I think your customer service skills are 0. Who ever takes care of phone calls is very unpleasant to talk to. Your rates are absolutely outrageous. I mean 270 to just look at my pet? That's foul. Also when asking about payment plans the woman on the phone sounded like I was crazy or something for asking.
18 March 2022 17:32
They did EVERYTHING they could to make sure my cat Pepper was given the BEST care. They went above, and beyond. I had called several Vets, and Animal Hospitals before we landed here. They CARE. They WILL help your best friend. Thank you guys.
07 January 2022 15:13
Horrible horrible veterinary hospital. These people that run the show just care about money. And I feel bad for other people with pet's that do not have funds. I brought my dog in because she wasn't doing so well. And right off the bat they told me to put down my dog. I said no way she needed surgery and the way the doctor was talking it was 50/50 my dog survived with flying colors and she is doing well. Her name is Coco you guys can run it in your system. Not only are these people money hungry I paid $3500 out right. I don't know what person does that most people don't even make that much a month. My dog was in there for about 3 days and the total sum was roughly around 10k. And everyday they were hounding for more and more money I spoke with them I can't transfer large sums of money on the weekends but that didn't seem to click upstairs. Anyways long story short these people are super negative and very snobby its quite amusing how stuck up they are. Its a pet hospital and they have no regard for pets our the owners.

If anyone is reading this do avoid this hospital.

And yes I am in your system, look up my dogs name.

If I could rate this place a 0 star I would.
24 December 2021 23:07
Yeah your team are amazing support when my cat was taken there today and the guy can't even tell gender even after being told and inspecting her. I was told that an X-Ray would be all I needed and it would tell them everything. However after I'm told there might be something in her bowel, I can pay more money to get it checked and then possibly up to 5,000. He then brought up having her put down. Clowns.

I would leave less than 1 star if I could. Disgusting humans.
24 December 2021 12:42
I just wanted to extend my biggest thank you to the amazing medical team at VCA for taking exceptional care of our dog Ruby in a high-stress, very time-sensitive situation. I would HIGHLY recommend care here.

We were away from home, far from our own vet, on a weekend, in the evening. Everything was stacked against us. The wonderful team here instantly responded to our call and advised we bring her in (I called other 24hr emergency vets, and there is nothing more fear-inducing than hearing a voicemail on the other line in an emergency). From the moment we entered VCA until the time that we left, Ruby received top care. The vet-tech who was supporting us was professional, knowledgeable, and provided us with information about risks/next steps for us to make important choices. The receptionists and front-desk staff were extremely kind and compassionate. They spoke to us, and it helped calm my nerves. The vet tech came out 3 times to give us updates. Overall the outcome was good due to the excellent care and fast-responding team here at VCA. As an added bonus, the price of our visit was a fraction of cost of our own vet or what we would have paid for an emergency service closer to home, taking away yet another stress (there is nothing worse when your fur-baby is sick to also have to worry about a heavy fee).

The waiting room was clean and well-staffed. We will be highly recommending our friends/family here. Thank you for taking the best care of our dog and us.
23 December 2021 5:57
Why do all these vets always try to force and push for euthanasia. Sometimes our beautiful animals can survive with little to no pain in treatment, stop taking advantage of vulnerable pet parents.
01 December 2021 15:37
Worst experience with a vet ever! We took our cat there Wednesday night because he had a really bad hairball that was impairing his breathing. Instead of treating him for it. He wanted to run diagnostics for $2800.00. I told him we're on disability and can't afford it and asked him for a shot to make him throw up but he didn't want to without running diagnostics. I was finally able to get him to prescribe a medication for him to pass the hairball. He was very rude and it seemed that he cared more about the money than to treat my cat. 0 stars and highly NOT recommended.
I think it's really fishy that everytime someone has a complaint you never seem to find them in your records. I have a receipt for the visit and medication from your MALE vet Dr Armia Beshay. I also purchased a bag of cat food. So yes I completely sure that I was there. Maybe you should get a better system and record your clients records. And stop telling everyone to call and ask for Scott. It's just another way to NOT deal with the problem which Is that you guys are really horrible when it comes to treating pets and their owners. Shame on you
27 November 2021 19:51
Really friendly staff, super patient and understanding and they took great care of our dog and sent us home with very clear direction - can't thank the team here enough for helping us
14 November 2021 14:46
If you go there prepare yourself to get a loan. It was sunday and I had no choice so I took my dog there for bite injury. They asked me to do several tests and showed me a bill to pay in order to discharge my dog. Just take a deep breath before checking the bill.
09 November 2021 18:28
The staff at 404 Vet Emergency made one of the hardest days/decisions of my life as bearable as I could have imagined it to be. From the moment I called them to the last minute when I was sitting there saying goodbye to my baby girl they did not rush me or pressure me in anyway.
They offered us a private quiet room which allowed us to have all the privacy we needed.

Thank you for being compassionate, gentle and understanding.
Thank you for helping me help my little girl.
08 November 2021 21:39
Our dog Finn had 2 life saving surgeries at VCA Newmarket. The experience from reception, to the techs and doctors (especially Dr. Scott) was always very good. They were responsive, caring and easy to deal with. The care was excellent and we are very happy with VCA. THANK YOU VCA
05 November 2021 17:21
Went to this emergency clinic yesterday with my dog who was suffering from a UTI. Arrived at 4pm and at 6pm I asked how much longer as I have a very senior dog at home and a puppy that can’t go too long without bathroom breaks and food. I was told it was at least another couple of hours. If I had been told that when I arrived, I would have gone elsewhere but by then it was too late. My dog literally needed a 10 minute consult. Wound up leaving and got an appointment the next day with a vet in Newmarket.
13 October 2021 18:32
This clinic saved my dog last year during Covid19. He had developed severe otitis causing meningitis and they referred me to a clinic in North York with a neurologist and surgeon available over the weekend to save my dogs life. My humble apology.
07 October 2021 18:18
Yesterday was our first time bringing our dog coco to this emergency vet. This was the only clinic that was able to take in our dog right away (we had called 5 emergency vet clinics) I’m so thankful they were able to take her in when they did, the staff was super helpful and I’m beyond thankful for the vet and techs who were able to take care of our coco and make her comfortable and well enough for us to bring her back home!
31 August 2021 18:19
We took our puppy that was in serious condition. We were prescribed some antibiotics.

When we called and had explained that our puppy had thrown up her antibiotics and to ask if we should give it to her again "the receptionist laughed at this and thought it was funny. "

Our puppy is dead now, but it wasn't a laughing matter you need to show SYMPATHY for people we know your a business, but there should be a level of customer service that should be upheld. The behaviour of the receptionist who spoke to us is disgusting.
28 August 2021 11:30
The receptionist has no empathy, people like this shouldn't deal with people no customer service what so ever. Attitude and laughed at an aftercare question regarding my dog.
26 August 2021 1:52
We were referred to VCA 404 from our family vet in Etobicoke as our 9 yo rabbit required dental procedures that were outside the scope of our family vet's practice.

When our rabbit unfortunately had complications from the anesthesia, Dr. Kabakchiev and Vet Tech Erin went above and beyond to try and bring our bun back to good health. Over the course of about 3 weeks, they were very thorough as they explained procedures and possible outcomes, and incredibly patient as they fielded our questions. We were well informed and never felt rushed to make decisions.

When our rabbit suddenly took a turn for the worst, Dr. K and Erin went so far as staying after hours for us, knowing we would otherwise be stuck without a rabbit savvy vet over the weekend.

We are forever indebted to the staff at VCA 404, especially Dr. Kabakchiev and Erin, for their unparalleled dedication and kindness during a very difficult time for us.
21 August 2021 2:10
We can not thank the staff at VCA 404 enough for the compassionate care they gave to our sweet boy, Steve. After months of being run around by our family vet with no answers, we were referred to the Internal Medicine Team at VCA 404. Dr. Walter and her team took only 48 hours to diagnose our boy with Stage 4 Lymphoma. Dr. Walter and the team put together a Chemotherapy protocol for our boy and started his treatment immediately. His treatment took place during a province wide Covid-19 lockdown and we were so worried his treatment might be delayed, but members of the Internal Medicine team made his treatments a priority and rearranged appointments so that he received all of his treatments on schedule! They were so dedicated to his care. Unfortunately, we caught his cancer too late and we lost our sweet boy a few weeks into his treatment, but we can not sing enough praise for the Internal Medicine team at VCA 404. They took such diligent, loving care of our Steve during the darkest hour our family has ever faced and they deserve to be recognized for it. Thank you, we appreciate you all, for everything you do!

Love from The Eadie Family

After we spent over 4k with your establishment on my dog to find out she has cancer and were told she needed radiation but there was no knowing it would help her. It would be aggressive treatment. She also has stress colitis from the anxiety of going to vet appointments. Your staff said there wasn't anything else you could do for my pup. We asked for a palliative home care plan for our dog. The advice given was to see a regular vet in 6 weeks. My dog suffered while waiting for your team to get in and then suffered after as well. Aftwr a couple weeks we thought she was going to die. We called a hospices vet to come look at our dog, expecting to put her down. That vet gave us better news and had meds with them to start before they left. My dog is not suffering as much as before and she's doing so much better to now and I wished you had offered us this kind of treatment. I'm very disappointed and disgusted with how it looks that when there isn't big money to be made you just give up and tell people to go away and good luck.

When my dog Turner was having issues they took her in immediately and gave her vip care. I trust the team, they are knowledgeable and kind and made sure my dog came out of their doors alive and healthier than when she was carried in.
Incredibly impressed and grateful.

We paid 404 emerg over $12,000 for care and surgery. They refused to deal with a wound in which the stitches weren't done right and then got infected. Eventually Scarborough emergency fixed the sloppy work of 404.emergency.

Couldn't have had a worse experience at all. Don't go here they are not here for you or your pet just themselves

Supportive and caring staff. Didnt take advantage of my wallet in a time of crisis. I appreciate how they dealt with my situation.hopefully won't have to return to the there emergency services but I will always be speaking highly of them.

I have utilized their services now for over 2 years, I had a Pomeranian dying of stage 4 renal disease, was told he also had cardiac failure and needed to take him to specialists in Toronto. I did as they said and $2,000.00 later was told NO he DID NOT have heart failure just the renal failure. Went constantly back and forth after that to the 404 I never not paid or disputed my bill. They ended up eventually when it was time putting my boy to sleep. I have another dog who also would go there for services and I had made an appointment for the Dr. Walters to please recheck him for several issues mainly his trachea collapse and took the morning off from work only to get a call from them to say Dr Walters is doing virtual visits? So now I missed work and she never got to examine my dog. After I was told I would still have to pay her as though she examined my dog 85$! I disputed this with them as it was not a useful visit just a phone call and now they are harassing mew for the $85. I HAVE SPENT OVER 4,000.00 WITH THEM AND HAVE ALWAYS RECOMMENDED THEM AND NOW THEY HAVE THE AUDACITY TO HOUND ME FOR $85. I have now found another emergency clinic.

The hospital seems like a well oiled machine. Very organized, and although we had to wait a while, we were quite pleased with the compassion and care our dog received. If only our health care system was so well run!

I have been meaning to leave a review for this clinic for a long time, and just used them again and was reminded of how great they are. I see many negative reviews and to be honest this doesn't surprise me since who really has a great time when the are with their sick pet at an animal hospital? Is it expensive? Absolutely - however, this is just the norm, and any other clinic would charge the same (I believe their entry price is $110-$120).

When i say they really do care about your pet, they do. We brought our cat here, and unfortunately left without her. They gave us two choices, and didn't push us or make us feel rushed in any way. They even allowed us to come back to the private area where she was, and although it was sad to see all the tubes, I was so happy I got to be with her. I was absolutely heart broken after they performed the euthanization, and they were so respectful. The vet's allowed me to be alone with her in the room and gave me as much time as I needed. About 3 weeks after, we received a card in the mail, with the vet extending their condolences. I was surprised to see that many of the techs had also signed the card. We had also asked for them to make copies of her paw prints so we could later have them for tattoo's, and they did this right away for us.
We have also brought our dog Otis here a handful of times for things like allergies/upset stomach, and other than one time their wait times were very minimal. They are really helpful and warm in the office, and this makes a great space especially for a building that holds a lot of stressful and negative energy.

They are also great for over the phone help. Right now with COVID-19, they have techs reaching out to you once you fill out and ER form, and they will help triage/suggest if you need to come or not. We called today as Otis had an accident with his dew claw, and they could have easily told us to come in, when we really didn't need to. Instead, they helped instruct me on what to do, and this saved us a big bill/potential exposure. All in all, this ER animal clinic is great, and we have never had any negative experiences.

AWFUL DO NOT GO HERE take your pet anywhere else there's several other options in the York region area that work urgently and care genuinely. This place doesn't care about your pet!
09 October 2020 5:44
DO NOT GO HERE. MONEY GRABBING AND NO PROPER CARE FOR YOUR PET. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING DOCTORS AND RECEPTIONISTS
08 October 2020 10:12
Do not trust these people, they will take your money and not take care of your pets. Moron's are running this place

I can not begin to even express my gratitude to this veterinarian office. They are compassionate and caring and helped me through one of the hardest moments in my life. My cat Tie ended up becoming very ill and I called them despite some of the reviews here. They helped me throughout the process, going above and beyond to reach out to me since I couldn’t be there with him (I had surgery so my husband had to take him), and showing nothing but a deep understanding with me. Sadly my cat had to be put down, but the staff talked me through the entire process and left nothing out. It was a tragic moment letting go of our beloved guy, but it could have been so worse with an office that didn’t show the level of caring, empathy, compassion, and professionalism that they displayed. Thank you guys 100% over!

If I could give zero stars I would. I genuinely feel sick writing this. DO NOT GO HERE. This place is a total scam and it is disgusting.they take advantage of pet owners who are desperate for answers. An X-ray, an ultrasound and a bottle of pain medication for my dog cost over $1300.00 for zero answers. Nothing has been resolved and they couldn't give me any justification as to why my dog is limping and whining in pain. She came out of this clinic worse than when she went in, she is refusing to walk now and is even growling when I touch her. I never would have taken her here if I knew it would cost the amount it did for minimal to no care at all.
It is so evident that this places motives are solely money.

How can you let the women in the front represent vets like this. They are at the front to represent their staff and don't do well at all. Very poor service waited 3.5 hours and no-one helped us. They took my money though and didn't help my sick puppy. They even laughed at me. I didn't get my refund so I tried to get verification but instead the ladies in the front thought it was funny. Very sad to see nurses and practitioners like this who show they don't love any pets but their own. In my wait I saw 3 dogs come out and a turtle come out but no dogs went in. They said their was only 1 doctor in who was on the phone. When I said I was leaving to another vet they lied and said there was 2. Looks like no-one wanted to work for the night or until the next shift came in. They laughed at me and made me feel vulnerable when my dog needed THEIR help. Sad to see that this is how humans are to other humans during this time. The people who work here are not trustworthy and don't represent their staff well at all. The concierges represent the rest of the talented humans who studied as employees as the same type of staff to a horrible business that you should not go. Think of who you put in the front of the line to represent your business.

Most redeculece and money grabing place.last week i took my dog there after an ubject was stuck in his throuth.poor dog was in ageny and it was an erent emergency.all they were talkig about was to take %85 of cost beforeadmition otherwisetey wont be able to admit the dog and although they are 27 hours but doctor would not take the dog after 5: 45 and they wouldnt care about taking care of the dog and free him from pain.poor dog had to take that pain untill i took him to brichmond animal hospital rightaway they took the dog in and did what needed to be done but unfurtunately damage was to much for the dog to handle and day after we had no choice but to put our love one to sleep thats all because they wanted money before taking the dog in and wouldnt stay a bit longer while they saying that they take emergency untill 6: 30 but at 5: 45 we were regected our dog lost his life after going true lots of pain and ageny.all love for animal and caring for our 4 leged friend are just BS at this place.we find out the price they gave us was about $1000 more than brichmond also.i wish i wasnt waiesting my time trusting this place and was taking my loving dog to brichmond at first place.everytime i remember how my dog died i remember 404 animal hospital part in his death.

My little frenchie was sick and couldn't get the help she needed. Very awful staff. Not friendly or caring. Just cares about going home at the end of their shift
17 September 2020 15:47
Thanks for the misdiagnosis twice. Also thank you for refusing entry due to the fact that your opinion was wrong. It was not epilepsy. It was inflammation in the brain causing seizure. What school of medicine did you all attend. That is second thing you look for
1 head injury
2 inflammation
Dont assume a diagnosis i told you all and you said. “ they are knowledgable doctors and know what they are doing”
3 clearly no. He is dead. 3/3 screw ups. Good job
15 September 2020 12:25
Your pet is always going to be here for you, be responsible and don't take them here the treatment is so poor they make the rest of the staff behind the scenes look like they don't care either. Some staff not complying with cover policies making me super uncomfortable.not sanitizing when interacting with customers and pets, and not wearing masks? If you love your pet do not go here

After an hour and 45 mins waiting in my vehicle in 30 degree weather with a sick 4 month old kitten.and another hour and a half of me waiting in my vehicle in 30 degree weather for ANY type of communication, they finally told me they were running tests after I called to find out what the hell was going on. 30 minutes after I left, they called to say my pet could go home.

Absolutely no concern for the fact that it was 30 degrees out. No communication at all. They should have taken my pet inside, sent me home and called me when they were done.not tell me they had more critical cases and they would get to me when they could.

Hello there,
I just wanted to share how pleased I was today with the service. The Veterinarian and staff were very compassionate with what we went in for. We brought in a very sick little bunny named Star. Highly recommend the 404 Veterinary Emergency Hospital. We really don't want any more emergencies but if so, wouldn't go anyway else. Many thanks xox
03 August 2020 14:38
They took great care of my dog who ingested a toxin and required immediate attention. It was really scary but they assured me she would be okay and only charged $35 for a test. Very affordable for the knowledge and support they provided.
02 August 2020 18:54
It's terrible to see how these organizations take advantage of our love of our pets. We brought our dog in with some symptoms of vomitting and stomach issues. They asked for $2700 for a diagnosis + 'estimated' treatment. Found another vet that treated our dog for a little under $500 including treatment. This should be criminal. If you can wait take your animal to your trusted family vet!

Amazing experience Dr. Kisiel is one of a kind and the staff are wonderful. They have taken care of my dog Bowser and going above and beyond is an understatement. Also thank you Robin! Highly recommend

This is a vet clinic that is primarily focused on over-charging people. They not only over-charge you just for visiting them, they then charge $600.00 just for an x-ray and another $300.00 just for blood work. This is just another form of extortion. In other words, over $1,000.00 just to find-out what is wrong with your pet. Not to mention doing this to people when they are un-employed during COVID-19. They should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of people. Horrible!

Everyone, from the staff at the front desk to the team of veterinarians, was extremely patient, caring and competent. My first experience dealing with an animal emergency and I felt completely taken care of. Lynn Henderson and Laura Perry were especially considerate in balancing our financial concerns and care of our pet. They really went above and beyond to find an option that suited everyone. I appreciated their genuine and down to earth manner. No matter how busy things were that day, I never felt rushed. Thanks to all!

My advice to people is to only go here if you have concerns that are not more than you can afford to lose or more than the price of the pet itself. If it requires an overnight stay, simply keep your money in your pockets. You need to be pragmatic about your decisions with pets. If they are in ‘fatal’ condition and they offer no guarantee, why would you spend $3000-$10000 to just ‘hope’ they might figure out what’s wrong? The animal will most likely pass anyways. Let them do it in peace at your own home and save your bank account. There’s plenty of new pets out there in need of homes. My experience was good when I came in but they left a bad taste in my mouth as I left. Their true intentions come out when you don’t cooperate with their plan for your pet. So don’t be surprised if they give you a hard time or so a lack of enthusiasm when you decline their prosposal. Stand up for what you think is right for your pet and keep emotions out of your decision making.

I took my 4 years old dog, who is a rescue and can not walk, to this clinic because of a 2 day high fever. The staff at reception were great and friendly. After initial assessment, I was told that he needs to be hospitalized. Since he was refusing to eat for the last 24 hours, I agreed to keep him there for couple of nights in hope that he will receive some intravenous fluid to keep him hydrated and for the source of fever to be discovered. Next morning, I went back to check on him. They took me inside where they keep animals. I approached his cage and my dog was even unable to shake tail for me. To my surprise, he was more dehydrated than when I left him. He would only opened his eyes when I called him. There were no water or food within his reach. As I am writing this, I still shake in anger and sorrow. I asked why there was no water and was told by staff that water was just removed from his cage. I asked for him to be taken out of the cage. When I offered him water he drank a full dish of water immediately. I asked to talk to the vet. After waiting for half an hour she showed up. She told me they were unable to locate the source of fever. I asked why there was no water available, why his mouth is dry she said since he was receiving intravenous fluid there were no need for water! Since I am a doctor myself, I asked to check his medical chart over the last night to see how much fluid he was receiving. It was not even half of the amount he was supposed to receive (according to weight, dehydration and fever). I got very upset and asked who is responsible for this. Instead of accepting her fault and trying to fix it, the vet told me that she will not argue my dog's treatment with me and tried to minimize my concerns for my poor dog who was burning in fever to financial concerns and the costs that I had payed so far.when I found out talking to her is pointless I asked to talk to the chief of hospital who was not available at the time. Since my dog was ill and i did not want to waste anymore time I asked for a copy of his medical chart including the details of intravenous fluid he had received to take him to another hospital downtown Toronto. The staff at reception told me that according to the vet I am not allowed to have a copy of the overnight stay chart! And that only the results of tests will be sent to the next hospital I chose to take my dog to. I was so devastated at the time by my beloved dog sickness and my poor choice to keep him for a night without water and food in that clinic that I did not argue back. I took my dog to another hospital where he was diagnosed with a large abscess in his neck.no need to say that my dog was not even fully examined by the vet at the 404 hospital or the large abscess would have been detected.
I gave 2 star for the staff at reception who were helpful. Definitely not recommend the medical care.

We had to go here in the middle of the night a month ago. Our 16-year old cat had to be put to sleep. The staff here were amazing! They took us in right away and the assistant set us up in a quiet room. We waited for a bit, as other emergencies were going on with other pets. However, she checked in on us quite often to make sure everything was okay. She was very kind and compassionate. The vet in charge, Dr. Justin Levasseur, was also very kind and compassionate. He walked us through everything and assured us that it was time to put our beloved Paws to sleep. We would definitely recommend this clinic in case of any pet emergency if your main vet is closed. The cost involved was reasonable.
