Do not buy sports cards from their auctions unless you see the cards in person as the ones I just bought are fake. They do not authenticate the cards they list.

Really enjoyed the experience of bidding in a timed online auction. Shipping was an easy process and the staff were a pleasure to deal with when making inquiries about an etching I was interested in. Some gems to be found if you know where to look.

Be wary of this auction house. A lot of fake paintings and forgeries. Poor communication, everything is priced in USD, shady deals, and just overall not authentic. Misrepresentation, scam artists, fraudulent, dishonest, and the business is located in a sketchy asian market. Beware.

They do not disclose the price to ship until after you win an auction. The first auction I participated in, I won a small wooden box for less than $7. The delivery company contracted through 888 Auctions quoted me $95 for shipping and handling. When I emailed both the shipping company and 888 Auctions to complain, neither responded.

The second auction I participated in said that the local pickup was in my home state (NJ), so I decided to bid again knowing that I could avoid the ridiculous s&h fees by doing a local pickup (according to the terms of the auction, they would send the pickup location and times shortly after the auction). After the auction closed, my credit card was charged the next day for over $430, but I did not receive an invoice or a location/time for pickup.

After waiting, I emailed to inquire about both, to which they responded with an invoice and said the shipping company would be in touch with me. I emailed back saying (again) that I did not need shipping, that I wanted to do a local pickup. Several days went by with no response.

At this point I checked online and saw that several other customers had similar complaints, so I called my bank to contest the charge. My bank notified me that if 888 Auctions contacted them, they would remove the hold and we could work on it from there.

Finally, 888 Auctions sent me the pickup information, so I scheduled a pickup time. When I went to the pickup site, I went to pull up my invoice and saw that there was a last minute email saying that because of the hold, they were canceling my pickup. I contacted them back asking if they responded to my bank, because they would lift the hold. 888 Auctions refused to contact my bank, and said they would have to recharge my card. I also questioned them about the $95 s&h fee in the wood box for the first auction. They said the lowest they could go was $80. This is a bait and switch, with extremely shady business practices. I ended up keeping the holds in place and notifying them that I would not be doing business with them.

Then they had the gall to send an email asking me to leave a good review for a 5% discount. This business is not worth the headache.

Among dozens of auction houses I often deal with - This auction house truly operates to the highest standards and stands out in the industry. As a collector you can trust them 100% because they care about their reputation. I won an amazing marble screen at a very low price that is 80% below their consignor's reserve. Instead of voiding the transaction like most venues would do, they honored the sold price and as a result I got a very good deal. Their integrity and business ethics are what all auction houses should learn from.

Very professional place though they use PakShip to quote me for shipping my win and they tried to gouge me so I encourage you to use UPS Store 33 for shipping (half the rate of PakShip).

Most interresting auction house I know. A lot of valuable paintings. Easy to do business but for consignator payment too long.

I am a frequent purchaser from 888 Auction and i have the best experience with them. Friendly and helpful staff, you can find very rare items on this auctions! I do recommend them if you are looking for a reliable and safe auction house.

I'm new to buying art and this was an excellent place for me to start. The descriptions of all the pieces are excellent and provides a beginning to do additional research. I've purchased a few small items and they have all been as advertised, My confidence to purchase more established pieces has increased to the point that I'm now ready to seriously invest in Art and Asian antiques.

I've attended many 888 Auctions and other online auctions over the past 2 years. 888 is unquestionably one of the best auctions! Their staff is excellent and attentive and they provide fantastic items at fair opening prices. I strongly urge anyone who enjoys bidding in online auctions, to attend 888 auctions.

Interesting auction house with thoughtful policies on pickup during Covid. But do track a few auctions before bidding. As others have noted, while many or most of the items listed are legit, many are in categories that are prone to fakery, and there is no handholding to help you work out the difference. Keep your eyes open and do your research before you bid, as you would with any investment or collection. If nothing else, bid on what you like for the sake of itself, and not for the sake of a name or what you hope to flip it for, and you won't go wrong.

Caveat Emptor. Those who understand how auctions work and have developed an eye for art will be rewarded. Purchased a rare and playful scene by the Italian artist Carlo Canevari. It lacked the provenance which is probably why it didn't exceed the high estimate. (The team at 888 got back to me regarding the provenance and were able to provide additional information that they had come across.excellent followup). I am quite impressed by their service. Prompt responses and excellent shipping services by their preferred shipper at PakShip.

Fake, forged, deceived.

A drawing by a renowned artist I'm interested in was put up on the auction for the third time in less than six months. I started doing in-depth research and decided to contact a professor who has written numerous books and articles on that artist. After showing the images and explaining my suspicion, the verdict was fake and a bad one for the matter.

When I emailed the gallery and asked about provenance and paperwork, I was told: it was just sold to the buyer. What a coincidence!

After this, I became suspicious of a piece I purchased from them a few months ago. The same thing, I did the research (I know, a little too late), contacted another high-profile collector specializing in that particular artist's works, and the same verdict. Fake!

Others might have better experience and luck, but I will not make any further purchases from this gallery.

Excellent service and excellent follow-up. Made some inquiries about a piece and they were able to sell privately for a piece that was passed previously in auction.

Shipping quoted by their partner was expensive and they directed me to another shipper with a more favorable rate although it was still more than what I was hoping to pay.

They pedal in clearly faked artworks that take full advantage of the legal status of "limited provenance " and "attributed". I bought two small paintings that are so obviously forged a student could have done them. They throw them into cheap older frames. Be warned!

I love shopping auctions. I wish the items had province more often. The other part is the shipping to other countries can be expensive but the auction usually win at great prices

It’s too late when I reviewed all your comments. I found myself being into a trap of fake painting + expensive shipping. What I can do is to warn everyone to stay away from this auction house. Watch your wallet.

Avoid this place. A high number of fakes coming out of here. No recourse for the buyer beware and avoid!

Forged watercolor sold as the real deal complete with fake appraisal. My own fault for not doing my homework. 888 has a documented history of fraud. AVOID

The Goya painting was well packaged and arrived very quickly. Hidden bargains are to be had if you know where and how to look. They specialize in liquidation and that was explaining to me clearly when I requested provenance. Sales are final but at these prices, who's complaining? Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.

They have so many items every week it's hard not to be overwhelmed! The woman I spoke to was very professional and assisted with my many questions. I am new to this entire experience but I can see why people are hooked on auctions. Can't wait to bid on the gemstones they always offer at every sale! It was an easy process of paying and they are careful with covid precautions.

100% SCAM! Never trust or send your collectible items to them for auction, 888 Auctions is a scammer company online. I lost my items with them and get blocked to my account too. I registered another account to bids on their item and paid. But i never receive the item i paid for. No trace, No tel, No email, ignore and blocked me all the way! I should have someone they to teach them soon. 888Auctions, you will take what you did. Dont regret!

This auction house is infamous amongst legitimate collectors and people in the art business as a place to avoid. 99% of their art is fake. They maintain that they say “attributed to” but they know exactly what they are doing. If it’s too good to be true that a Jack Bush or a Tom Thomson is in the auction going for $2000, guess what? It’s too good to be true. These people thrive on people’s ignorance. Also, most of the positive reviews on here are not from actual customers. Buyer beware!
