A Tavola Bistro

I was excited to try this highly rated restaurant near where I live. When I called to book and told them that I needed a high chair or a booster seat, I was told to bring my own. When I responded to say I don’t have a portable one to bring, the response from both the manager and owner was basically too bad and that we cannot accommodate. This was the first time ever I came across this issue of a restaurant not being able to accommodate my two year old child, and instead of them apologizing, they responded by saying this issue has never come up. Poor customer service and not being able to accommodate young children, will not be eating here unfortunately. No empathy by the chef/owner or manager. Does not seem like they were even interested in changing their practice and buying a high chair for the future. I even offered to buy one for them and to take the cost of the booster off the bill but that was refused by the owner.

Still one of the very best restaurants you can imagine. Fish is the specialty but everything else is truly unique and amazing. Solid wine list as well. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

Food was great, price is very high, portion sizes are small. $36 for Fettuccine with chicken, it looked like some one ate half of it. I left hungry.

Dinner was fabulous. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is excellent. Highly recommend this gem in the Meadowglen plaza!

Amazing food! Had the arancini and the gnocchi and would have them again in a heartbeat. Also the lemon curd dessert which was super tart and delicious. Can't wait to try other menu items.

We had high expectations but we were disappointed with the food and service. We almost had to wait for an hour to order food. Food wasn’t flavourful for the price and was ordinary at best. Our 10 year old thought that a chain restaurant in Whitby had better flavour than here and I would agree.

Service was great, but the food was not at all what we were expecting. We got the artesian bread board as an appetizer and only 1 type of bread was good, the rest tasted stale and had no flavor. For the main course we ordered the NY strip loin and the chicken parmesan. I ordered medium and it was rare and medium rare in some parts and was very tough, chewy and was very hard to cut. The chicken parmesan had way too much sauce and the breading was soggy from the start. Lastly the side of potatoes for both were very undercooked and only a couple were cooked enough to eat.

Bland! No taste whatsoever and it’s quite expensive when your mains start at $30. There was also a couple that came at 8: 15 and were told the kitchen shut down. Wth when the published closing time was 10pm? All in all not recommended at all.

The food was so delicious and fresh! The flatbread and aranchini we ordered were highlights for us, but the entrees and dessert were great too. I loved that the restaurant was quiet enough that we could still talk and hear each other at a regular volume. No shouting across the table necessary! We'll be back!

Family birthday and we were treats like family. Trisha " the momma" took great care of us with knowledge of every dish, warmth and humor The rest of the gang (they are a team) totally attentive! The Octopus was perfect the gnocchi was tiny pillows in creamy sauce. The whole fish (black bass) was tender and tasty. Oh Tricia you made our night

My wife and I visited A Tavola for the first time after hearing great comments from regular customers.

We loved the restaurant due to the nice ambiance, excellent food, and great service.

The whole fish with Moroccan spices was wonderful.

My wife and are are looking to venture out from the chain restaurants and try more independently owned ones. We came across this one on TripAdvisor, rated #2 in Whitby. Located in a residential neighbourhood with estimated seating for 50-75 guests. A quiet and romantic setting with dark walls, blacked out windows and soft music. The tables were well spread out in the small space, so not to be on top of each other. The staff presented very well with all wearing black and were very accommodating, water glass was never empty and did not have to ask. The food presented well and tasted exceptionable! All fresh ingredients and made from scratch. The pasta and sausage in my Orecchiette was made inhouse and served al dente and the Chicken in my wives Chicken Florentine was cooked to perfection. I think was done with a sous-vide cooker. Overall experience was great and we will go back. Did not rate 5 star due to my seating arrangement, but that's just a me thing!

Beautiful decor, cozy, family friendly yet romantic restaurant. Food is delicious & fresh. Would highly recommend the pastas & the whole fish. Aubrey our server was very attentive & we enjoyed meeting her. We had an out of town guest & she was very impressed. We have never been disappointed.
