I’m a British Indian living in Canada for many years. Wow I walked into A1 Sweets and I felt the Diwali vibes! I felt like I was back home in Leicester, England. Beautiful colours, yummy methai, delicious food, divas, rangoli stencils, gift baskets. Love the Diwali backdrop where we could take photos. Happy Diwali to everyone at A1 Sweets!
Absolutely horrible staff and mediocre food! Avoid at all costs!
We came here for dine-in at 7: 30 PM and after standing in a line for 25 minutes we were randomly told that dine-in is closed. There's no signage mentioning this anywhere at the restaurant or on their website. Their staff is extremely rude and the restaurant's atmosphere is chaotic. Floors were unclean and sticky
The buffet food looks stale and is probably reheated for multiple days at a stretch.
MUST AVOID food here, service is poor as they don’t care about taste and quality. They are serving stale food which will cause food poisoning as I started puking after hour of eating buffet here. I complained to miss gurveen twice that rice have bad smell as they are very old but she didn’t replaced it and even it doesn’t matter to them. She said okey we will see. They are giving 5% discount on cash which is another way to scam government.
Food was delicious and well cooked, I personally prefer more spice but thats just my own preference. The prices are pretty unreasonable though, we barely got a full meal and it costed $75, other places are in my opinion much more worth it, regardless though it wasnt bad.
We ordered A1's catering trays for a party at our house. The food was amazing. Online ordering was simple and efficient, Preet was at the counter when we picked it up and the trays were packed very well. The quantity of the food, the quality and taste was up to the usual A1 standards.
"I recently visited this vegetarian restaurant and was thoroughly impressed with my dining experience. From the moment I walked in, The decor was charming and gave off a cozy vibe, making it a great spot for a casual meal with friends or and family.
The menu offered a diverse range of vegetarian dishes, making it easy to find something to suit everyone's tastes. My son and my self decided to try their thali and was not disappointed. The flavors were well balanced and the ingredients were fresh and naan was vey crispy. My particularly appreciated how the kulcha was presented with an eye for detail and thoughtfulness.
The service was excellent, with the wait staff being friendly and attentive. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations.
First time my son finished full thali I was happy as he picked 3 different dishes in thali and he like all of them and finished
Overall, I highly recommend this vegetarian restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious, affordable and enjoyable dining experience. I will definitely be returning soon! "
I was craving for Chana samosa and we got their at 8.55pm (Five minutes before it was about to close). But, they still prepared my order. Really nice of them. The food was hot and fresh and I loved my Chana samosa. Oh and there were 2 samosas and enough chana masala, enough for 2 people to share. It was mild, not spicy, perfect. Could use a little more garnish. Overall, it was worth going again.
Ordered chole bhature, was told 2 bhature is included. Disappointed when come home and found one naan cut in half in the order. Very dissatisfied with the order, felt like to go back and show them. Kid's were unhappy and told me to never go back.
Ordered chole bhatura for family and when I came home to open they gave only naan not bhatura in half pieces. Worst part not that they cut the naan in half pieces but it was burnt also. Called them back and they hung up the phone when I spoke with young girl who answered the call. Not sure how they stay in business as they never used to do this. Replaced naan for bhatura and cut in half saying it’s two full? Charge quite a lot for small portion too. Won’t be going back again!
Very much liked their masala tea and indian snacks like samosa. Also meal options are great. One can savor their indian taste buds with paneer dishes, dal makhani, kadi pakoda, baigan bharta, mix veg, jeera aalu and other north indian dishes. Would love to visit again whenever I am around.
I dont say anything bad about food because we all work for that.you guys dont even know what you’re selling and charging people like you’re marvellous in every terms. The whole universe is not selling paneer pakora for 14.99 but you. Frozen items and tons of canned food you guys use. I honestly very disappointed with that in this hard time innocent people hardly makes the money and you overcharge them. You should learn how to make food dont sell puree and readymade material. If you wanna taste the food come to brampton here plenty of options with good quantity and reasonable price. You guys are just taking advantage of the oakville people bcoz they’ve no other option.
The staff and the incharge seems to be new so. The staff wished New year with a friendly and welcoming smile.so great! The food was good.quantity and choices of thali were good too, not spicy.thats why we like his cosy place to eat. Keep up the good work. 5 stars! Even our dog was allowed.
Weird customer service and the quality of the food is not up to the mark. I think they should compare their taste with other restaurants. I tried samosa and chapati both things taste ridiculous. And even gulab jamun taste like they are dipped in murabba water.
The quality of food is extremly bad even i would rate zero with chapati since once i tried gulab zamun it was tasteless. Never pickup the call even they dont have any order there
I came in tonight to buy a Diya for my class, since we have been learning about Diwali. On their busy evening, the staff took time to help me choose a Diya and they explained so much to me and they were so welcoming! Everything looked amazing and I will be back for dinner and sweets! I cannot wait to show my class the beautiful diyas I bought here! Thanks Oakville A1!
No host, just stood wondering what to do. The food was very underwhelming. Nothing was salted. Wasn’t offered water, i had to ask for it. Quite expensive for a vegetarian restaurant.
I have been a regular at A1. We usually take the thali with 3 curries and naan. But, last weekend, we tried their all-you-can-eat buffet. We were left very disappointed at the spread, value, and quality of the food. My partner and I tried every item on the buffet and only liked the puri and.that's it! We used to like their achari paneer and mixed veg curries. I am not sure what happened, these items were not the same anymore. The potato filling in the samosa had absolutely no seasoning. The chana salad for panipuri was clearly not freshly made and smelled a bit off. The paneer "Biryani" had more red food coloring than seasoning of any kind. The achari paneer had very little achaar, so the gravy tasted pretty bland. The Gulab Jamun was extremely flaky and was not even cooked properly before introducing to the syrup. I could go on, but I think the point is made. I guess there were all the ingredients in place but were terribly put together. In hindsight, this deterioration has been several months in the making. It's a shame I saw one of my favorite places in Oakville progressively get worse to this point. Unfortunately, I would not be visiting A1 again.
Excellent service like Team Kaliga in Real Estate looking for homes near by come to Team Kaliga office call us at Team Kaliga We support local Asian Business by buying and supporting with good reviews.keep the positive spirit of Business live.
Indeed it's an A1 restaurant. Really good food. LISA was serving me, exceptional customer service with a positive attitude and with cute smile. Loved it. Positive vibes.ehna ne dobara motta krna mainu.
Prices have been doubled and quantity has reduced and no new varieties. Not worth it. A lot of restaurants are offering better quality and quantity at a decent price
The food is great, and with great I really mean its awesome, during covid times it was reallt tough for me to cook food on my own cause my wife was stuck in India, thanks to A1 sweets, they are a life saver. Would totally recommend coming here
I don’t know why there are people out saying they don’t like the food, but I have been coming here since 2017 and I have never had any bad experiences till now, the food is amazing and The manager is awesome! She is so humble and lovely. Also my best is malai kofta with naan!
Heard a lot about this restaurant and always wanted to try the food. The malai kofta is the best……must try! Also the service was great and really cool and friendly staff. One of my top recommendations for indian food
I have been here twice… Both times same item (Panner pakora). First time they were fresh. Today they had old ones, put them in batter and re-fried them. The concept of QoF ceases to exist…
A1 qualifies for an okay place. Nothing wrong with it and I usually run there for convenient takeouts, but it's also not a place that's top of my mind for Indian food. Recommend it for snacks and sweets.
Restaurant was not clean at all, hard time finding a clean table. Nothing was tasty and Masala chai was like drinking hot water, Tim Hortons steeped tea is far better than this. Regret my visit here and money wasted.
We always get the samosas here and they are awesome. As an added bonus they are made with white rice flour and are gluten friendly for those with sensitivities. We haven’t tried much else tbh but samosas definitely get 5 stars.
I only had samosas, so this rating is only for samosas.
Filling of the samosas was 5 star.
I loved them. Also they are quite large so they r a good value.
The samosas pastry or outer shell was different from any samosas I've had from other places.
When I go back I will ask them if this hard shell is how they intentionally make them. To me it was over fried or maybe the type of dough used just turns out like it did.
The filling was sooooo goooood, I am willing to overlook the pastry. But I will ask them next time. Maybe they would appreciate the feedback.
I've only ever had flaky Phyllo type of pastry samosas.
I love their samosa and Masala chai Halwa puri is also typical Indian style, halwa is non greasy and chana and Achar go very well together. The best thing to try here would be Achari Paneer! It was a 10 on 10!
The food itself is good but servers not very courteous. One of the male server abruptly asked me to read first from the buffet and then order, as he said peoole make mistakes and he has to redo things. He has a bold attitude which is not hood for food industry.
I am always apprehensive of that server as he will tend to cater less food and not fill up the container or not give the right count of paneer or veg-balls in the curry.
The manager there is decent and customer friendly.
On sweets it is your luck, some days they are fresh and very good and someday they are a bit old and not that good (not stale but not up to the mark)
Very cheap. They give smosas with very less chatni and if you will ask for extra they will charge you more just for chatni if you will buy 3 smosas they will give you green chatni as well but if 2 smosas then no green chatni.
I don’t even want to give them 1 star they worth 0 stars because of their customer service and the way they talk is soo rude Quality and taste is unacceptable. They guy at front don’t even know ‘C’ of customer service
Bad food. Stay away from this place. I ordered some halwa puri this morning and we literally had to throw everything. Puri was not made right. Channa and alo salan was simply tasteless.
I should say Mirchi Vada and Bread pakora were ok but i have never eaten such kind of Bhaji in my life it tasted like a Tomato puree. If you can understand what i mean to say
I love A1. A household favourite for nearly a decade, their delicious food never fails. Someone unfamiliar with Indian cuisine can still fine comfortably as staff are ready and willing to explain the contents of dishes. The indian sweets are a delightful conclusion to any meal, and takeaway is as superb as dining in. I can't recommend them enough!
Another most disappointing Restaurant in the name of Indian food. Bad Quality food and its really disappointing that these people selling bad and roten food to people. The only Indian restaurant i have seen here in oakville since i moved her os oh bombay other then that whatever i have seen till now disappointed me too much.
Was very disappointed by the food especially having heard such great things. Ordered shahi paneer, papri chaat, channa bhatura and sweets. The chaat was horrible and was basically mix of yoghurt and sweet chutney. The Shahi Paneer was too sweet and tasted of sugar. Not coming back.
Had the stuffed paratha at A1 and they were as the name suggests A1. I went to Oakville location but they have a few in the GTA. Ordered Mooli (raddish) Paratha and Aloo (potato) Paratha. I love them spicy and they were simply delicious. Adjust your spice level to suit you. Highly recommended. Portion was huge! They have other great option including their famous British style Indian Veggie Samosas. If you take Paratha's home then heat them in in frying pan before u eat. Samosa heats well on frying pan also, like they just came out of fryer. Let me know what you think guys.
Best restaurant for buying sweets and snacks. I am a regular customer of this place. I visit here once a month with my family. I appreciate to store owner for maintaining excellent quality with fresh and fast service ️ 100 out of 100 Thanks guys
Few items are good to binge on like cholai bhature and chaat. Kalakand is really superb. Buffet has good presentation but lacks taste. Staff is extremely slow to serve
This place is awesome the food was too delicious. The staff was so polite and friendly to deal with most important the place was properly cleaned up Must Visit All Once
This restaurant serve EXCELLENT food. Their Malai Kofta is the best in the land! I live in Kitchener and stock up with their food (I even freeze some for later) when I am in Oakville. Very nice people run the place. Every time I walk in the door the scent is so lovely. Also, excellent samosas and really good prices. All the food is fabulous.
Positive - You can order roti-puri-nan-bhatura as bresd option It was hot and fresh Sweets - not fresh Sabji - out of all sabjiz 2 sabji was fresh only Staff service was good Negative - Food taste was so average Washroom not clean
Horrible experience. The tables weren’t clean. Washroom have no light. No customer service. We have to wait 10 minutes to place the order. Wait for 30 minutes solid, then we asked for the update, we were told wait another 15 minutes for our order. Walked out. Don’t waste your time.
Bad service, tables were dirty waited for 20 min to get water, when asked when will our food come, we were told another 20min.not happy with overall, we just walked out, not going back
Been a few times now for thali's to go. Always tastes good, you get to choose from the buffet options. Since the place is all vegetarian there are tons of options. They're ok with substituting the sweet option with raita and upgrading to garlic naan. Just call ahead so they start getting the naan ready.
I don't live in the area but do stop by when I'm passing through Oakville. The plaza they're in gets busy, Tim's drive through line jams up the entrance so be careful
