Went to Aahar Churchill location seeing good reviews on Uber eats app. I ordered a chicken biriyani and 1 order chicken samosa and the guy who took my order told me to come in 30 mins. The biriyani and Samosas are so oily that it was not eatable and i had to throw out. I wasted my $30. They kept me waiting and gave the order after 50 mins on a typical not busy day (Thursday evening). They gave a somewhat big chicken samosas which cost around $7 and gave a ultimate mini mint sauce (what a joke) instead of Tamarind sauce. The guy who took the order doesn’t know about customer service and felt like someone is forcing him to do the job, no greetings to the customer/no smile/ no emotions lol. Never going back for those oily foods to make harm my body!
Ordered here a number of times usually it's pretty good but the last time the service was lackluster and the food was dry the naan bread was old and nothing tasted as good as it used to I think they might have changed ownership or it was just my luck that time
First time to this place, and they give me a Watered down butter chicken (like soup) in a small container. Rice is really small. Naan tastes funny and small. Butter chicken is creamy! Not waterie! And they charge more then other places. Lost me on the first try. Oh and the phone manners are not great. Guess it hard to say goodbye on the phone. They just hang up in your ear.
I ordered veggie samosas, order came with a chutney. Chicken curry, Naan bread and oh my, a mango Lassi. In a word, outstanding. I am 64-year-old man and I know good food. Order from them or better still go in and dine. They are the real deal.
Great food but atmosphere was very lacking. Dec 2022 and it looks nothing like the photos here. We sat is an empty room with no decoration. Tea took 15 min to arrive, the place was freezing cold (even the waiter was wearing a jacket). Parking in the back was very tight. No lunch menu and apparently they only had 1 hardcopy menu in the place (? !?). Otherwise it is a qr code to a digital version.
Food was very good though (lamb and black lentil dishes) so I'd go back for takeout.
Visited Aahar for the first time yesterday with the misses. And I must say, we were really satisfied with the experience. Being an Indian, our go-to dish has always been butter chicken. So, that was the first thing on our order. Along with that we had naans, rice and malai kabab.
We have had Indian food in the UK & of course, India, so it takes a lot to impress us and Aahar absolutely did it. All items had just the right flavors and meat was cooked to perfection. Service could have been a bit fast but I suppose, it was the busiest hour of the evening, so shouldn't complain. All-in-all a great experience with amazing food and helpful staff. Would definitely visit again and recommend this place.
I have spend some lovely movement with my family having an Indian food on Ahar The Taste Of India. The taste I got fom them remind me the taste of our country India. Cheers
Aahar the taste of India! It's actually the perfect name for it:), because their food is delicious. I love their butter chicken vegetable rice and the naan bread. That meal feeds 4 people believe their food is blessed it's clean they're very friendly customer service is great their prices for the amount it's actually great and it's filling.
Fantastic food! It was very fresh and Tasty. My personal favourite is the Chicken Curry & Garlic Naan. Me and my family have been to Ahar so many times since it’s opening. Servers are very professional and polite.
Amazing tasting food, served fresh, and with AMAZING customer service. This is my go-to spot any time I'm in Ottawa. Aahar truly does bring the Taste of India!
I've been going to Aahar for a long time, and this restaurant offers by far the best-tasting Indian cuisine in Ottawa. The menu includes a variety of options to pick from, and the staff are also extremely friendly and provide excellent customer service. This is my go-to restaurant, and I enjoy myself every time I visit.
Whilst this place offers takeout the packaging they provide is beyond inadequate. By the time you arrive with it at home the flimsy packaging has seeped oil etc from the food and collapses. This is extremely unacceptable and everyone that orders take out from this establishment has to know than unless you bring something with you a big secure carton your meal that you paid for will be on the floor or your driveway. Buyer Be Ware at this place
Excellent food! Menu includes a wide range of authentic Indian cuisine which never disappoints. Staff is very friendly and easy to deal with. Have never been disappointed with any meals I have ever ordered from here and I highly recommend!
Food is pretty flawless here. The flavours are well-balanced and everything is exciting to eat every time we order. Visit here (for takeout right now) and your tastebuds will thank you
I’ve never written a review before but this restaurant is going to get one! I paid $32 for pretty much two scoops of sauce and two bites of desert. $20 for the lamb ALONE! No sides no nothing. I paid $7 for a dessert that’s about two bites. The food honestly isn’t even of quality I’m scared to eat it. I’m so disturbed by what I just received thru DoorDash I can’t even believe this is legal. Overpriced, low quality, and ridiculously low portion. This is the worst experience I’ve had with food delivery EVER!
We have been looking for a tasty and reasonably priced Indian restaurant. We kind of gave up, until today. Decided to try Aahar. First of all, we were really impressed with the menu. There were so many unique meals, outside of the very typical. Second, the food was delicious (and fast). We ordered A Lot (for 2ppl). All the chutneys, 3 apps and 3 meals, plus 2 kinds of naan. Usually with that, you have many misses. Not today. Everything hit the spot, tasted fresh and home made. We are excited that we have a new place for Indian food. Thank you for the deliciousness!
Everything was absolutely delicious, very reasonably priced, can't believe we've never tried this place before, it will be our go-to from now on for sure!
Hands down the best Indian food in Ottawa. All food was authentic, tasty, fresh and reasonably priced. It's a family restaurant and you truly feel the love put into the food and the care the family put into the business.
If you love spicy, try the Dal Tadka, it's the best I've had out of India.
Excellent takeaway Indian meal for our anniversary. Ready on time, more than enough and I felt a very reasonable price especially considering what restaurants are facing during all the covid restrictions.
The worst bad test food and the most expensive, unprofessional stuff, it was first time and it was my last time, if you wanna wast your money, then go this restaurant.
Ordered delivery. A bit disappointed in their portions. Food portions were a lot smaller for their price. Chicken biryani hardly filled the styrofoam it came in - probably only fit in a good half if you packed it in, instead of spreading it out. Otherwise, food tasted great! The Dal Makhni was spicier than I would have imagined, but very good regardless. The Shahi Paneer was very savoury. The Chicken Biryani was very flavourful with just the right kick of spicyness. Lastly, I also ordered some Garlic Naan, which were almost $5 each - also a little disappointed with the size/portion, but it was alright, although not garlicky enough in my opinion.
I'd been here several times over the years and overall quite liked the food and the experience but my last visit here wasn't nearly as pleasant. The service was incredibly slow. The waitress (who to be fair, was by herself and seemed rather overworked) was often gone from the dining room for 15+ minutes. Multiple times, some kind of alert device would go off behind the counter and would sit there making an annoying noise for 5+ minutes before she came out and dealt with it. When we finished our meal, we sat for almost half an hour waiting for them to be cleared.
The food was flavourful and reasonably priced for what it was, as per usual. However, both my companion and I did not feel amazing the next day. Not sick or like we had any kind of food poisoning but just really bad gutrot. We eat Indian fairly often so this wasn't a case of us just not being used to the rich cuisine.
Rating 3 stars because of my past good experiences and because everyone has an off day and makes mistakes. I'll go again at some point and if things have improved, I'll up the rating. I hope so.
I am a vegetarian and quite particular about the choice of my food outlet. Thankfully this place is quite a winner when it comes to good food and service.
Our Indian food was fast and amazing! We had great service, delicious paneer malasa and a delectable butter chicken. Strongly recommend, possibly the best Indian in Ottawa.
I placed an online order on Saturday night and found out over an hour later they were closed even though it’s during normal open hours and my credit card was charged. Very inconvenient!
Amazing lamb Korma and outstanding chilli paneer! I live in Calgary and discovered Aahar while working in Ottawa. My wife loves the Chilli Paneer so I bring it home in my checked luggage (zip locked of course) when I am working in Ottawa.
I had tried lot of indian restaurants in ottawa before, but none had the same experience like here. The ambiance was nice, food was soo tasty perfect the indian spicy taste. Do try the paneer tikka
