We love our Acorn stairlift. Now we have peace of mind that if our legs feel tired, the chair lift does the job. If we are feeling energetic, then we climb the stairs and the chairlift waits unobtrusively for the next ride.

Hi: We got our stair lift about a week ago and just love it already! My wife has put her cane away. I'ts great for bringing up vegetables and canned goods from the basement, and will be awesome for bringing potatoes and meat down. I find myself riding it up and down for entrtainment. Both the salesman and the installer were friendly and knowlegable, adaquitly ansewering any questions we had. Was drasticaly cheaper than building a new house without a basement! It is good and easy to use. However the technician was rushing to do the demo. Seems like he ran out of time.
Otherwise it is working well and helping.

The best and most efficient service. Sidney showed up on time, took measurements, made recommendations and 2 days later it was all installed. Follow up calls were conducted and were very pleased. Also, the Acorn price beat the competitors by 25%.

The installation of the chairlift has made it possible for us to continue living in our own home. Prior to the chairlift, it was becoming more and more painful for John to negotiate the stairs. The service we received from Sydney Schmidt and the installer Kern was outstanding. Thank you!

Stairlift works awesome, my wife is satisfied now to stay in our own home for a few more years. She feels more independent again because she can do the stairs with ease.
The only fault I have is the LED indicator light flashes continuously and it is awful annoying.

The service was punctual and efficient, the chair works perfectly, and the cost very reasonable.

I called Acorn Stairlift to give me a quote on a stairlift for my son. They came the next Monday. By Tuesday they installed the stairlift. Their price was fair and they installed the staircase quickly. I found them to be courteous and prompt.

All I can say is the chair lifts are amazing what a incredible difference it makes for me not having to crawl up and down stairs now

The service technician was very good, friendly and left our place very clean. We are very happy with the stairlift and it makes life more comfortable. I really recommend this for all people who have trouble walking the stairs.

Acorn was very accommodating on the installation as we are undergoing renovations. They worked with us and showed up when they booked.

They are attentive and helpful until they get your money. Good luck after that. The chair system my father received never worked properly from day 1. They do some bandaid work on it until the warranty expires, then they finally understand how to fix the problem and they hand you an $800 bill for it. Two weeks later, it breaks again. I’m assuming their systems breakdown quite a bit because their service techs are always so busy and can’t get to you for days or weeks.

We called Acorn Stairlift back in October of 2021 and they promptly sent a sales rep and we ordered and paid in full for our lift and we got our stairlift installed in late December of 2021 thus the 1 star as both sales rep and installation went well. So as we're getting closer to the 1 yr inspection that comes with the chair we received information on the extended warranty which we were thinking of getting but due to the fact that we are still unable to get our inspection I've realized unless they're making money they don't contact you. I've called and called and left messages with them to book an inspection since October and no one has called back to schedule our inspection, yet they had no problem taking our money quickly and asking for more money to get an extended warranty. I'd say if you have the choice to get a stairlift elsewhere I'd do that because all this company cares about is its bottom line. Absolutely the worse customer service I've seen after the product has been installed when they're goal is to help seniors. Maybe after this review they will book our overdue inspection.

The stair lift is a tremendous help to me as navigating my steep stairs is difficult and unsafe. Mike, the installer, and Lisa the Rep that I dealt with on the phone, were both terrific and made the process easy and pleasant. Thank you.

The ride is slow and steady and works somewhat as expected. It could be smoother ride as at time it feels little bumpy.

PLEASE read this before you consider purchasing any products or services from this company. I do NOT recommend them for their business practices.

My father purchased a lift in the summer of 2021. He paid $12,500. When he passed in early 2022, I paid $500 to have an Acorn technician professionally remove the lift. As per the installer, doing so would allow me to retain the factory warranty, and the unit could then be reinstalled for approximately $2,000 if I were to resell the unit (it may have been $2,500, but I believe $2k). As the executor of the estate, I have to dispose of the asset in a financially responsible manner. What I’ve now learned is that the $10k asset (after install) essentially has zero value thanks to the business practices of this company.

I reached out recently to have the unit installed at my father’s friend’s house. It is the same 90 degree left turn setup. However, upon sending the pictures of the new location to schedule the install, I was told that the configuration is slightly different. I wouldn’t be able to use the power gate it came with ($1,500 option) but rather had to buy a 180 degree landing. The price they quoted was $7,000 but they would “give me a deal” at $6,500.

I explained how I felt deceived when I scheduled the removal, believing the cost would be $2,000 (and that I may have to pay for any additional parts needed to configure). They did not care. I explained that I wasn’t going to pay $6,500 without a detailed breakdown of parts and labour. As per Manfred from Acorn “I will not do that” and “it’s a package deal”. Basically, they expected me to pay an additional $4,500 for the part they said I needed (which is absurd, and unsubstantiated).

As I was typing this review, their customer relations department called me to explain how “package pricing worked”. When I explained it was not a matter of comprehension but rather the unethical nature of how they conducted business, gouging their customers, they just continued to restate that’s "how they operate". Their concession was to solicit from their tech side the cost to just buy the parts they said I needed. I received an email shortly after saying they couldn’t determine which parts I needed unless I paid the $6,500 fee to have a technician attend the house. So I guess the customer relations call was barely lip service.

In short, do your homework before buying a lift. Consider the options when the lift is no longer needed. There are a number of competitors out there that may not survive by preying on their customers. Hopefully this review helps others avoid a similar situation.

We were in the process of laying a new floor and called to see what would be needed to take up the screws at the bottom to put new tiles under the unit. We were advised if we undid the screws we would void the warranty. They further advised to have a tech remove and replace the screws would cost us $900 for a 10 min job. A friend requested a referral and advised them of our experience and suggested they look elsewhere. They could not believe our experience.

Having purchased an extended warranty on our Stairlift, we were less than satisfied with our first two annual maintenance visits until today. Morgan, the service technician, identified a concern we had, diagnosed the issue and repaired our lift, for which we are most grateful. Merry Xmas, Morgan.

We recently contacted a few stairlift companies and chose Acorn to come to the house. John, the salesman was very professional and knowledgeable without exerting any pressure. We had it installed within a week The installer Moe did a great job and explained & demonstrated everything to us before he left.i am amazed at how much we use it and is making life much easier.
My mobility issues are mild to moderate and this is a great way to increase safety and activity going forward. I highly recommend Acorn Stairlift

The service was excellent. It took a mere and short number of days from initial call to installation, and the elderly in my life are certainly finding the chair lift quite useful. Also, it was quite cost-effective. I certainly recommend Acorn Stairlifts.

Acorn does not respond to calls for service. There are many similar complaints so unfortunately my experience is typical. If I were to do it again, I would go with another vendor.

We deeply appreciate the speed of the entire process of dealing with Acorn Stairlifts from the in-home assessment for required type of stairlift and the subsequent completed installation all within one week of our first call.

I did not realize how much energy it took to climb 10 steps until I got the Acorn Stairlift…. It has been a god sent, allowing me more energy to get dressed, shower and breakfast…. It is easy to use and fits in nicely… thank you Acorn and friendly staff

We had a hard time deciding if and when to have a stair lift installed and during this whole process we didn’t feel pressured or rushed at all. Once we decided that it needed to go they were very quick and professional and took the time to show us everything and explained the install as they went along. Very pleased with our Acorn Stairlift.

Quick to come install but if you require service, pack your patience. My grandmother waited 3 weeks for a service call and was charged a $400 base fee. 3 weeks is unacceptable for a senior who relies on this substandard product for their activities of daily living. Appalling and would never recommend this product.

Was suppose to get the HD model and they only installed regular model. Called them and told them. 2 1/2 weeks later they still haven’t switched it out. Not very happy

Richard loves his stair lift, it gives him the ability to get down stairs to his music room! It was installed in very short time, we should have got this a long time ago!

Updated review here. The product is awesome but I had some minor issues with the remote. After my last review/concern here, Acorn reached out to me and Paul resolved my concerns promptly. Thank you and that's service I will be happy recommend to anyone! Please keep up this level of after service.
