Don't come here if you scrap metal professionally for income. I process, separate and sell about $4000/month in scrap goods.

I decided to give aim a try since it's so close to my house, however their prices are typically lower than the yard I always go to.

First time I went it was ok. I brought 500 lbs of bare aluminum wire and 80 lbs of BX casings (MLC) and asked for a big bin to put the wire in. It took a while to get the bin over and after that, they tried to tell me it was 10/10 aluminum and I had to correct them. It is 1s wire which pays way more. No issues with the MLC.

I decide to come back another day with my full haul. Employee told me that the BX casings are now mixed aluminum and not MLC. A big price gap. I told them I would keep it and take it elsewhere. Then they tell me my 1s wire is 10/10 which is their highest price. After I show the employee their own price sheet with the 1s category, he tells me I either take 10/10 price or take it back. So I take it back.

Then they proceed to snip every bit of no 2 wire and data cable that I already separated for them on their carts, taking forever. I asked for a bin again for the 300 lbs of no 1 wire I have, as it's too big for their little carts and they said they had none. So I had to struggle to put it on those carts.

Took over an hour to process everything and then had to go to another yard to get the right price for my aluminum.

On top of that their website and ATM has been down for months so you can't get prices, and you have to go back through the scale to get paid at the end. I won't be returning.

Busy location take too long to drop off and Non-ferrous section you wait for half an hour or longer and for payment you need to go back to scale and wait in line again.

I have been going for a number of years and am very impressed with the ladies in the weigh-in gatehouse, Rose and Karen. Their customer service is always exceptional.

The staff in the non-ferrous weigh-in section are extremely organized and very helpful. They have taken the time to explain questions thoroughly and patiently.

Hamilton AIM is a very well run and organized operation.

I've been going there for years. They make it easy to get $ for scrap metal. Too easy.

This Saturday there was a Taxi cab ahead of me in the drive thru lane. Two gentlemen came out of the Taxi, both seemed as if they were homeless. Their appearance also suggested they were dealing with substance abuse issues. They didn't strike me as germophobes, yet both had homemade masks on. The two gentlemen had several catalytic converters to recycle. Guy at the desk asked for ID, and gave them printouts to take to the machine outside to cash out. That easy. No questions asked. No hassle.

Were the catalytic converters stolen? You had to be there. The two must have weighed less than 150 pounds between them. Probably haven't slept for days, haven't showered in god knows how long. They made no attempt to convince the guy at the desk they were the rightful owners. In and out. So easy.

I will not be coming back.
