Ajax Public Library- Audley Branch

Very, very poorly designed space. Form exceedingly eclipses function here. Built like an echo chamber. All hard surfaces in this cavernous space means every footstep, chair shuffle, throat-clearing cough, and irreverent voice is easily heard throughout the entire space. Not a place for quiet study whatsoever. Great place to bring kids as it seems to be an extension of the wonderful outdoor playground seen from the window.

If this "library" is to remain in its current iteration, my suggestion would be that the name be changed to the ARC Social Club.

Visited Ajax Public Library, it's branch on Audley road.very well maintained library, mainly for children and teens. Huge collection of videos and fairly good collection of fiction and non-fiction English books including some popular titles.
Newspaper and magazines section was nice, in my previous trips I was used to read Globe and Mail, Toronto Star.found these newspapers have reduced in their size by nearly 20% and in number of pages by nearly 25 %!
One of the heartening thing to note that National Geographic is very much on the stands including August 2023 issue, contrary to WhatsApp University Bulletin.
There were about 200 Hindi books and equal Number of Urdu, Tamil books. I was told that Marathi and other Indian languages books were shifted to Main Ajax Library at Harwood. Animal Farm by George Orwell in pictorial form was really excellent.
The staff was very cooperative and efficient.

One of the best Public recreation centre and library. Amble parking, neat. Library is well organized lot of audio visuals as well. Here there are study rooms, lot of computers with internet, reading room, and seprate sections for teena and juniors.

I loved! Outdoor tables and armchairs to enjoy reading while looking at the park and a sunset. Excellent attention and service. When the other library's are closed this one is still open on a Saturday. Modern and comfortable furniture. I congratulate the architect, it's nice to be there with so much natural light.

I like visiting this library. Very simple layout - basically one large room with a lot of natural light, so it always puts me in a good mood. Great movie selection. Kids area is separate - good selection of books and nice carpeted area for toddlers to crawl on, though overall the space is fairly small, as is the library itself. But it's tidy and organized and modern, so it's nice to visit.

They MUST put a limit on the age for the kids area. I was trying to read books here with my toddlers and a bunch of high school teens are in here so rowdy and loud cussing and what’s now so bad. They also threw the books around the sink area, started laughing loudly and started fighting with each other.wow…pls put an age limit on who can be in the toddler and kids area. It’s called KIDS area for a very specific reason. I called and notified them ASAP. I’m also very shocked not even one person comes in and does any kind of hourly inspection here. I really hope they consider the profanity these teens are using around toddlers and also take action to let them know this is a reading and study area, if you want to fight and make noise then go do that outside. People have loss their respect to libraries. I hope the management does something about this effective and immediately.
