ALE - Amberwood Lounge & Eatery

Horrific experience. We came for Mother’s Day brunch. Seated at 10: 45 then no one came to us for 45 mins. Then just coffee with mugs, nothing else my dad had go into the kitchen and get the spoons himself. Finally ate at 12: 15! With 2 small children it was not fun. Manager said they had over 400 people and not experienced staff but then plan for that. Ridiculous service, got our orders all wrong and my daughter didn’t get her food until after. Then when we finally got our food half the orders were wrong and there was no cutlery. I don’t know but perhaps don’t book so many people if you can’t handle the business. Oh and the washroom had no soap or paper towel so we used toilet paper lol

Went there for mother's Day brunch and to say it was an utter disappointment would be understating the experience.

The steak was COLD, like refrigerator cold. I was there for 9 AM so pretty much the steak was refrigerated from the night before and was over done. Eggs Benedict that were suppose to be medium were overdone. Thank you for ruining the start of mother's day for us, ALE or should I call you ST-ALE. To top that all we asked for a substitution for bacon and were served vegan bacon which to my surprise had an additional charge on the bill. I wanted to put the miserable experience to end and would have multiples for the extra charge of $3.50. Never coming back to these crooks, EVER.

The server was overwhelmed with a half full restaurant. After getting the order wrong she went back and when finally came with a half correct order, there was no apology.

The food was amazing, and the ambience was relaxing. We went for lunch and sat on the patio. Chris provided us a phenomenal service and was very informative. She suggested an excellent wine which paired well with the food. Thanks to Chris. We will definitely visit again.

Lovely place - a hidden gem. I've had lunch here and high tea and both were wonderful. Highly recommend sitting on the patio, which provides a beautiful view of the golf course

I have never seen a restaurant that offered happy-hour specials on appetizers, but when they arrive, they are a fraction of the size of the "regular" order. Happy hour specials at any other restaurant are the same dish, just cheaper. The Happy Hour menu did not state that they were "mini plates". Not going back after that. That's just misleading.

Overall great experience as they hosted our trivia night for the second year in a row.we'll be back next year

This is by far the best Wedding experience you can expect in Ottawa.

What attracted us to this venue was the way Ben dealt with us in a competent manner, and the sheer level of customizations that Ben offered to personalize the experience. We had outdoor wedding and dinner options to indoor dining based on how the weather co-operated for the wedding day. We had vegan and and steak diner options, both were simply excellent. We were able to customise decor, food options, wedding times, guests, desert options, drinks, alcohol, open bar operations, etc.

Ben and his staff have a great deal of experience managing all details related to weddings. You will not experience a more easy, stress free wedding with a better venue or food options in Ottawa with such a gorgeous property that os adjacent to a golf course.

Ben is very a very competent manager, the beat we actually experienced across Canada and the US for any event. Since we travel and did event planning as a career we have dealt with a dizzying array of events and nobody gave us the confidence and competency that Ben displayed.

We received compliments for months regarding the food quality and how tasty it was.

We were told by at least half of out guests that this was the best wedding they have ever attended. Everything went off without a hitch.

We found the rates to be very competitive and well worth the money.

We are looking forward to visiting the restaurant to celebrate our anniversary.

Love this place; never too busy, friendly and helpful staff, delicious food, incredible vegan menu, great drink selection and lots of parking! The vegan charcuterie board and vegan grilled vegetable pasta are amazing!

Congratulations Ben and team! The ALE Christmas Dinner takeaway was delicious. Four flavourful courses and just enough for leftovers on Boxing Day.

Good quality not the greatest. Salmon was very dry and the combination of a wet salad under the piece of salmon was not the best. The soup was ok minus the chunks of ginger. Dessert was good

I was really impressed by the separate vegan menu, it was nice to have a lot of options to choose from! I ordered the vegan pad Thai rice bowl, which was really good but I'm not sure where the Pad Thai claim comes from. This was a great peanut stir fry, but if you go into it with the expectation of it being similar to pad Thai, you'll be disappointed. I also ordered the strawberry salad but it was unavailable unfortunately. Overall, the large vegan menu was lovely to see, and I look forward to trying more dishes from Ale.

We had ALE host our wedding and it was amazing! The staff and our coordinator Ben were terrific and went above and beyond for us. I highly recommend ALE for any event but definitely a wedding!

The "Ale" is ailing badly. Awful food, the fish and chips were so over done it was near inedible. Having to chip off the batter to find the nonexistent fish filet was.well disgusting. The service was not much better. To end this disappointment the bill was presented of which 2 glasses of wine were
. FORTY DOLLARS. Yea sure it's a golf course restaurant that managed to bogey every hole and never make par.
