We stayed at the Delta Armoury Hotel. Fantastic hotel btw. We were looking for somewhere to have a late dinner and thought we would try the Ale House as it was close. The place had a foul odour when we walked in, however we went to the patio. There was 2 people working and the man threw 1 menu on the table and stomped off. The woman looked at us and promptly walked over to serve an inebriated couple. We waited for around 5 minutes, the couple had their drinks, and we still didn't get any service. I guess it was a blessing as the one and only group of people inside were complaining about the food. When we returned to the hotel, we spoke to a few other folks who are regular guests of the hotel and they laughed and said be thankful you did not eat there. So well I personally cannot comment on the food I will say the service is terrible and atmosphere stinks literally. I certainly do not recommend.
Great pub with interesting selections of beers from around the world. A must stop-in location to try something from a place you've never been or have an old favorite from your travels to Eastern Europe. Over 100 different beers. I didn't try any food, came for the beers.
Great customer service, great food and great to find a place with that awesome team that run the place. Great group of client base. Lots of dining space.
I went with my little one and we enjoyed several options for appetizers. They have a wide range of appetizers which I find amazing!
A few arcade games for guests to play. In the back area they have billiards table for pool playing.
If your a beer enthusiasts you will love the options available from cans, bottles, on tap. The place has so many options I had to write about it in my review. You don't see that many options at too many places.
The food menu has a large variety of options for lunch and dinner.
We played musical chairs from sitting inside to resting on the patio. It was a bit chilly outside so we left the restaurant just after ordering food. The manager and staff were awesome as we ran back to our hotel for our sweaters by keeping our food hot and served to us hot.
I will definitely return to try more of the food options in the future.
The owner is great with kids and cracked jokes with my lil one about the time of reciept. Hahaha
He asked my lil one if he wanted a job for washing dishes and for my lil ones bill will be cash or debit hahahaha love the place.
Another feature is the awesome choice of work attire. I noticed the girls wearing awesome English style clothing which reminded me of my travels to overseas.
Give this place a try if you travel to London and staying at the hotels nearby. It's definitely worth your money and worth a try for any beer enthusiasts!
The patio is awesome even the patio on the side of the building which is awesome.
Beautiful downtown pub with good food and great prices. We came in because of the $3 pints of Grolsch beer, but we stayed for the Fish & Chips, then for the $3 pints of Grolsch, then to he $3 pints of Grolsch, and so on.
Average pub in downtown. The closing time is 2am. When we wanted to place an order at 11: 30 after placing orders for drinks we were told since there is just 1 chef he could not manage with more orders. Well it would have been nice just to be told there would be no orders taken for food
I used to enjoy visiting with friends and family for post sport dinners and the like but since my own return to London post secondary I've been appalled with the rhetoric pushed on the public facing billboard owned by the Ale House
Found a cockroach crawling on our drink glasses, on our table while trying to have dinner. After we told them about the cockroach, we paid for our drinks and left. They behaved like it wasn't a big deal, would avoid.
So Norm told the girls not to serve me because I was sitting out front with my dog who was on the PUBLIC side of the patio tied up on the OUTSIDE of the fence. THIS IS CITY PROPERTY.
I've sat out here for years and I know she can't come on the patio and I respect that. But for them to turn me away bc she's on the outside is ABSOLUTELY REDICULOUS. And I wonder why most of us regulars don't come here anymore.
This place has always circled the drain and now it's even worse now that the only good bartender left. They don't care about their regulars anymore yet this is their business base.
I've been coming here faithfully for years and never been so disrespected as a patron until the last 3 times I attempted to give them my business. So no more.
Ale House is truly something magical. On your first visit, you'll have the feeling of familiarity. You've never been there before, yet you can't shake the feeling that you have. Others on here will point out the cheap drinks or modestly priced food, but neither are what keep you coming back. I remember first walking in at 11am looking for a quick lunch in an unfamiliar city. "Are you guys open for lunch? " "Yup" the waitress replied. "Everyday? " "Everyday. " "When do you close? " "You're not from around here, are you? " I wasn't. And little did I know what this place would come to mean to me in such a short time span. Whether it's Jay asking if you want your usual, or Tony with wisdom beyond his years, you realize you're not buying drinks, you're paying to spend just a little more time in here. Because it's not the drinks or the food that keep you coming back, its the people - from the waitresses, bartenders, food staff and, yes, the regular patrons. You don't need to tell your friends to meet you here because everyone that walks through those old wooden doors knows that your friends are already there, waiting for you, even the ones you haven't met yet. If you stay long enough, you'll laugh, you'll pour your heart out into a glass, and yes, you'll probably get a little too drunk and talk a little too loud. And if you're like me, you may experience all four in one night. But that's what makes this place special, and the memories and friends I've made here will last a lifetime. Some people call it the black hole, swearing you're only having one but staying till close. Some just call it the Ale. But for my short time here in the city, for me, I've called it home. I know you will too. Cheers.
I don’t usually leave reviews, but they were obtuse enough to ignore me for 20 minutes. Not like they were busy. I took my business to Crabby Joe’s next door. Not what I wanted, but the staff is at least awake.
The store advocate Asia hate and racial discrimination. If you go to this store, you will feel uncomfortable by their service and viewpoints. Do not come if you want a happy day.
Terrible, terrible service. Owner is awful, doesn't care about the experience of those who go here. Doesn't care about the staff. Staff are often rude because of how they're being treated.
Food is terrible, cold, and poorly cooked. Will never go back. These people don't deserve my or anyone's money.
I used to enjoy visiting with friends and family for post sport dinners and the like but since my own return to London post secondary I've been appalled with the rhetoric pushed on the public facing billboard owned by the Ale House
Not a good place. I like different beer selections and though they do have a good amount of different beers, their beers on tap are disgusting. I had Sapporo and it literally made me sick. How can you call yourself an ale house and have really bad draught lines? ! Service is okay nothing to brag about and food was average at best. I won’t be coming back. Lots of other WAY better places to go for drinks and food.
Some of the best wings in town, and many other tastey food options. The staff and manager has always been nothing but respectful. Great and varied promotions though out the week.
Food was terrible and staff was rude, just found out the owner is racist as well, there's a surprise. Save your money and go somewhere else if you want a good pub experience.
This place is great. Our bartender / waitress was awesome and very helpful. She's got red hair. She's great. Food was also great. Definitely recommended this place
The food is great but the service is lacking. Went for food, beers and Sunday football. Would of stayed all afternoon/evening but we had a bad experience that left a bad taste in our mouth.
Brought to my servers attention we received a flat and warm pitcher of beer. She's says "oh well that sucks" we maybe at most had less than a pint of the pitcher and was not drinking the rest. You could clearly see it was flat and felt warm to the touch. She did nothing to help make this right and we still paid $15 for the pitcher. It's not about the money it's about the principle.
Love the atmosphere but not sure if I will be back.
The Staff are amazing, the atmosphere is damn near perfect, and the beer selection is quite large (for all palates). Highly recommended, especially if you're staying at one of the major hotels as it's literally across the road (easy to stumble home afterwards).
My local pub. Reasonably priced beers and good food. One of the cities nicest patios out back covered in grape leaves or sit out front on skid row and watch the show. I hope they get to take down the bar partition for the coming winter months.
Fabulous! Always Love the Ale House! Great Food, Great Service and the drinks are Always Cold! Nice Patio out back or if you prefer the street setting that is good too! Can't say enough about this place! Many great times and I recommend it All the time!
I always have loved the bar. However, after ordering nachos without olives they just picked them off probably removing a lot of cheese, leaving some olives by accident and it was cool. That was 1 bad experience in several years. So that's good. No meat in nachos.pretty disappointing they need to update the menu.
Awesome place for enjoying your time with a loved ones or by yourself.one of London's $ good priced bars out there. Used to be good and the new renovated bar is lot more enhanced with ambiance with energetic, friendly bar attenders. All genders, race and all age groups are welcome here.foods are too good too.must try it this summer.
I've been a huge supporter of local business's especially restaurants, through the pandemic. Ive been a regular customer at London Ale House, and order through skip the dishes. Not Anymore! A week ago, I ordered beverages and food, my food was cold. I assumed it was my skip drivers error, it happens. The last straw was tonight. I ordered 2 beers and a small fry. My order was handed to me in a plastic bag, which is odd, since every other order from Ale house is packed and sent in stapled paper bags. As I was walking to my home, I noticed the plastic bag, containing my order had "liquid" leaking from it. Upon further inspection it appeared one of the beers caps was removed. I contacted Skip and their customer service was "offline". I then contacted, London Ale house. A male employee answered the phone and I explained that my order was damaged. He then says "oh yeah, I'm the one that packed that order, I out it in a plastic bag so nothing would happen to it". I found that response extremely odd. How did he remember my order right away. Its my belief, that Ale house tampered with my order out of spite, for merely giving a thumbs down on skip, for cold food on my previous order. Call it a stretch, but Ale House isn't known for taking customers into consideration. Fool me once shame on me, fool me twice, shame on you. Never Again Ale House! I'll be very surprised if I get at the least, a response, let alone "apology"
First time ever going, ordered a medium steak and a German beer, never in my life have I been served an ice cold steak.the veggies and potatoes were warmer? How the hell does that work, and the beer they gave me a non alcoholic beer? That with the 20-30 minute wait time from our server. I'd never recommend this place to my worst enemy
This place is my preferable site. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to visit this place.when I feel like having a proper lunchon, this place comes first to my head.exeptionalgorgeous and varied food and a large menu.courteous crew, and good ambience. In addition to that, the charge is reasonable. I suggest this place with no doubt.
We enjoy going out. Last night we visited this delicious restaurant which friends told us about. We enjoyed a delightful experience there with exceptional cooking and an efficient crew and a distinguished chief cook. We put this venue in our phone list and we will certainly return soon. We highly recommend.
Keep up the great work fighting for your business and serving your employees and community. Ignore the naysayers that attribute malice where there isn't. If they don't like your policies, they can stay away.the free market will decide if your decision is prudent or not. Moral busybodies always get their comeuppance.
All around not enjoyable! Management are doing something very wrong. Go spend your money elsewhere. If you want bad service and worse food go here. There are many other establishments to enjoy. Also this establishment does not support covid guidelines. Does not care about customer safety!
I live in the apartments above the alehouse so I'm a frequent orderer. Up until I saw the completely unprofessional, down right immature signs displayed by the owner. Not only do these messages reveal how deeply uneducated the owner is, but the pure selfishness and self absorbed attitude of management. We are all struggling during the pandemic and displaying your temper tantrum to the public is a great way to lose business. I will never spend another single cent at this establishment, and I will discourage everyone I know from visiting here. There are a multitude other amazing restaurants in London with management who cares about the safety of the London community.and To alehouse management - Socialism and communism has absolutely nothing to do with health and safety measures. Read a book.
Just grabbed a few club house sandwiches to go and they were fantastic. The greeter was very friendly and personable. Would recommend going back. Great club house, they actually put effort into it.
This place was at its peak about 12 years ago. They always had amazing daily specials and my favourite Mozza Triangles. However, when it underwent new management, prices increased and they discontinued the Mozza Triangles and had Mozza sticks instead (smaller portion). Anyway, I went for the first time in 5 years yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised that the prices were reasonable again and that the food was good. (Still no Mozza Triangles though). The beer and whiskey selection has always been great no matter when I've gone. I have only had bad service one on the several several times I've visited. This place is a hidden gem if you ask me. I will definitely come back whenever I'm back in London!
They on purpose served me a vodka iced tea when I asked for a double vodka and iced tea twice, even when I explained that I wanted it in order of things I planned to drink. But the food and drink have always been good, and the people are generally the type of people I enjoy drinking with even though they lack confidence.
Great patio near the downtown core. Sports on big screens, pool table. Daily food specials. I tried their wings and they were good. Would recommend the Buffalo sauce flavour
Very beautiful patio! Seemed to be a little understaffed and the women were doing their best, but were definitely stressed and the items I ordered took a while to arrive. However the food was tasty and our waitress was helpful with the drink recommendations!
Awesome experience. Always a treat going to Ale house. Friendly attentative staff, will 100% return for their amazing selection of mouth watering beer and amazing food Sriracha beer BBQ wings are a must try.
Great vibe when walk in the door, tonight is a quiet night, but great chicken parmesan, but not the pasta so much. No greetings when we walked in, and no good night from bar tender when we walked out. So.what I thought was a great place, actually is so great of a place after all. The chicken parmesan is what saved you.
When I entered the place I had high hopes. But they did not pan out. The waitress was mediocre at best. The food was cheaply priced with even less quality. If you are in Univesity it maybe acceptable. But if you are over 21 avoid this place.
Overpriced piss-poor food (overcooked or undercooked), a server could not have cared less (barely batted an eyelash for the raw meat), and flies galore, you would have thought we chose the alleyway patio.
One of the best patios in London. Very cozy. Otherwise, pub food is pretty consistent and drinks are good. They often have a good choice of craft beer.
