Wow, what a nice place. If you are thinking about buying apples, why not go to this great big store just east of Bowmanville. They also sell cheese, produce, baked goods, gift and deli items and hot and cold cider. It's worth the drive.

Very good selection of pies. Their blueberry pie is good. While you’re there grab a couple of bags of the oatmeal raisin cookies, they’re moist and very chewy. Staff is super helpful!

Overall I really like Algoma Orchards. The custom made sandwiches and baked goods are great. However I feel like I’m being gouged when a single scoop of ice cream is $5.53.
24 May 2023 1:44
Your apples are by far the best I’ve had! So juicy and crisp. Thank you for producing and sharing these fantastic fruits!
25 March 2023 4:24
Great items. Higher prices then I expected. But they had no sugar added pies. So that was cool
24 March 2023 4:41
I don't know why they can't put apples in the apple fritters. I figured a product with the ingredient being "apple". Would have some in it. El Cheap-o. Pretty disappointed. Expensive and the door was very hard to open. Just sayn'

Went there a couple of weeks ago. Store is very organized and spacious. Lots of top notch products. Prices a little high but everything is expensive now.
06 January 2023 6:52
Very nice shop. Wide variety of apples and other produce. Gift items and unique products locally made. Deli and other products as well. Stop in.
26 November 2022 13:11
WOW Stopped in yesterday 10/27/22 small pies year ago $8.99 now Raspberry $12.99. Saw medium sized Lasaguna 19.99. I live outside area always stopped. No more.

Great fresh food. Personally I love their apple crisps (add ice cream for extra goodness). Desserts are good, obviously the apples too and they have frozen meat pies from the freezer that I take home and throw on the oven. Everything at Algoma is good quality, no complaints here.
06 April 2022 18:55
The apple cider and products were great, the prices were reasonable. Great way to taste different varieties of apples.
My battery was dead in my vehicle and had one of the workers gave me a boost with his new car.
Thanks again

Family run business. Not just apples. Has a deli on the premises, baked goods, sauces, fruit, homemade preserves, sandwiches made to your liking. They also do catering for pickup. Cheese trays, sandwich trays, fruit and vegetable trays and dessert trays to accommodate all ages and special diets.
Approximately $100. /tray for 4 trays which fed 55 adults and 1 child at our event.
We would definitely use Algoma Orchards for another event or just to pick up delicious fresh and homemade goods.

I just tried a snowflake Apple for the very first time.grown from your orchard. It is a must-try for anyone. Absolutely delicious. A solid six stars out of five. Good job Algoma Orchards.
29 March 2022 8:58
I love to buy local. Great selection of items. Friendly staff and very helpful when I ask questions. Love their apples.
25 March 2022 16:31
Friendly staff, sandwiches, and a wide selection of rare, hard to find sauces&jams, etc. Prices are VERY high, but you get what you pay for.
07 November 2021 16:34
A bit more than I can afford, but the prices are reasonable for what they have there.
I bought delicious cheese curds and apple chips to snack on from there.
Place is very neat, clean and full of things you don't see in other places.
05 November 2021 23:06
They are very expensive with their products. I am let down by their breads, mold developed way before the expiry date. There are NO bathrooms for any customer.
Algoma has many pies for sale, they tell the general public they make the pies themselves. It's a lie! The pies are purchased from a company in Nova Scotia, in fact you can purchase these pies from Freshco or Farm Boy for way less than what they sell them for.
The issue I have is that many have said their pies are the best, it was an employee who told me the truth.
26 October 2021 4:15
I had a lunch special. Corned beef on rye It was absolutely fresh and delicious. Not one complaint there. Well, it was too big for me to finish. Probably because I got into the assorted strudel bites before my sammy. Opps FYI, the corn is still nice and fresh. That's for dinner
24 October 2021 13:44
It was a wonderful experience being there the customer service was great and then she'll win show me all around telling me about our family it was a wonderful experience being there
16 October 2021 11:39
We had to detour around an accident on the 401 and that led us to Algoma orchards. It's was a pleasant detour, the product and produce were fresh and we really enjoyed the caramel apple pie.
Next time we head to Durham region we will probably take another detour
25 August 2021 18:12
This is a lovely market store with nice products, many locally made.
However, I was sorely disappointed when I got my basket of apples home to find out they are not even from Canada despite the basket saying otherwise. They were in a basket saying "Home Grown" and labeled with stickers saying "Product of Chile".
03 August 2021 4:21
We were out for a drive in the country and decided to stop by Algoma Farms (Thursday, May 27, around 12pm) for the first time since the pandemic started. After looking around and waiting for the line at the deli counter to thin out we approached with the intention to purchase a variety of chesse, the man who came over to provide service to us was the same person we had witnessed slicing/bagging bread while wearing his mask improperly and never readjusted his mask before asking if we needed any help.
We left without buying anything
01 August 2021 13:46
I had a terrible 1st impression and probably won't bother trying to figure out if it could get any better.

I don't know if this is bad timing for my visit but everything I bought was literally stale.
11 July 2021 8:30
Great food and selection from the store. The tour was wonderful, with informative, friendly people, and well-run, clean production floor.
10 July 2021 13:52
Nice business, lovely layout with fresh baking, fresh fruits and veggies, etc.and lots of beautiful ornaments and gifts Love the drive and the visit.
03 July 2021 6:25
Great Apples and Juice. Now if we knew the owners we would try to convince them to also brew Cider because the freshly squeezed Apple Juice is so pure (no pulp) and tart (dry) that it almost tastes like it is Cider already. We have been customers of Algoma Orchards for decades even before they moved from Whitby to Newcastle. Their Honey Crip Apples is what we keep coming back to buy, always grade A. All the rest is icing on the cake, like the pies, bread, deli, fresh veggies, baked goods, frozen treats/meals/fruits, and the local cheese curds - WOW what a Fresh Market. Love the service as well, Always friendly and helpful. Soon the gift gift shop will reopen. We have bought a many beautiful and unusual farm and country gifts and decorator gems. 5*

Friendly staff, always welcoming. They have a wide variety of fruits and veggies. I truly adore this quinte little piece of heaven. It's got everything you could possible need, from milk, pickles, Apple cider vinegar, and all the yummy sweet treats. Not to mention they have a great freezer section of gluten free. This place is a great.
19 May 2021 10:12
Joke. They open at 9 but couldn't get a piece of cheese cut till 10. Five people working but i guess the Master cheese slicer doesn't start till 10
11 March 2021 14:45
Always nice people, great food and huge supporters of the community. Always happy to support this business
27 February 2021 20:36
Friendly country store with a great selection of gourmet foods, produce, cheeses, and baked goods.
25 February 2021 7:15
I worked at Algoma. They give you a 10 hour shift in a freezer with minimal break. I emailed the manager asking him to split the shift and do a rotation because it’s unbearable and even dangerous to work 10 hours a day in super chilled temperatures. But I never got a reply.
Then a week later I filled out a form on Monday asking permission to leave early at 10 pm instead of 3 am the next day as I had an urgent matter at the bank. Instead of giving me a reply they fired me the same day.
The tasks are very simple to perform but the management has no sympathy and treats their employees like they’re machinery and not people. I was very disappointed and upset. Do not recommend this place to anyone
22 February 2021 3:51
Amazing quality and products. Love to buy local and this place sells a lot of locally made products, besides their own. Staff is super helpful and friendly.
16 February 2021 14:06
They are very expensive with their products. I am let down by their breads, mold developed way before the expiry date. There are NO bathrooms for any customer.
11 February 2021 10:02
Always always a great visit to Algoma. Great top quality products. Try their deli selection, excellent!
11 February 2021 2:51
The staff at this location has always been so friendly. They have a pretty good variety of things to shop for (things for the home, seasonal fruits/veggies, bakery items, and so much more). On my last visit, all their Christmas decorations were out which were so beautiful!
08 February 2021 22:40
Very clean, food is fresh and staff are very friendly. Following COVID guidelines so feel very comfortable shopping.
30 December 2020 5:40
Bought Red Delicious thinking that they would be very fresh coming straight from the farm versus buying at grocery, but more than 1/2 of them seemed to be old and soft. One was so soft tasting that I threw it out.

Maybe Im wrong but they gave the impression that some of the apples I bought were old or like last years apples.

I remember Red Delicious being very crisp apples, but these were not.

Then I wondered, if they are taking apples right from the farm to their store, why do they have the little stickers on them, like why bother?

The price seemed the same as grocery store so wont bother making the trip to this store again.

If I'm wrong a response would be appreciated.

A very nice quick place to shop and have a great sandwich. Love all the different types of apple choices.
10 December 2020 14:01
It is a unique store. I love going there! Everything is so fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful. I look forward to going again soon.

I adore this place. As a city dweller, being able to drive out here to take in the scenery and pick up some of the freshest and best quality produce is a welcome treat. Yes, Algoma is an orchard, but their shop is so much more! There is a lovely little section of interesting home wares and nicknacks, a local produce and grocery section, and an entire store length of shelves, fridges and freezer of unique dry, canned, cooled and frozen goods that make getting a bunch of apples a shopping experience not to be missed. I have a love of baked goods and their bakery and deli have something for everyone, whether it’s a sweet treat or something savoury, definitely worth the trip out to take a look. In many ways this is like a modernized country general store, with staff that have always been lovely and very helpful. There can be a bit of a wait right now due to Covid protocols, so if you’re coming on a weekend be prepared to stand outside in line for a bit, but even so, if you get a chance to come here, do it, you won’t regret it!

O. M. G.what marvelous place.
The apples, the bread, and the pastries. I just went in for apple cider, $ 40.00 later.
Yummmm

Cute local and fresh. This is what a local farm should be. Its busy but worth investing the time to look/buy
08 November 2020 1:13
One of my first reviews.because I just felt like peoole needed to know this. I drove to Algoma to get a Fresg Apple pie for Thanksgiving in the early morning at 9: 15 am (when they first open) and witnessed their staff unpacking pies from boxes (looked like grocery store/frozen) to put into their Algoma packaging. (probably before it gets busy) so be mindful of what your actually buying (. Yikes). Staff is friendly though. But i think there's probably alot better places to actually get a FRESH pie. 1 star because that's a bit disappointing.
07 November 2020 2:56
Great stop on our roadtrip. Great selection of fresh pies, vegatable and gourmet accompiments. A bit pricey but high quality stuff. Nice place.
21 October 2020 9:55
Their market store was pretty decent. Lots of interesting things to buy in there. Our only disappointment was no apple picking
18 May 2020 7:27
The fudge is amazing, Algoma needs to put a store in Whitby like many years ago and share the fudge experience.
25 April 2020 5:53
Such a cute store! Amazing fresh produce, the best staff/costumer service and the tastiest pies, pastries etc:)
05 April 2020 3:37
Always happy with their frozen meals, apple juice and dry salami selection. And they have paper bags now which is amazing
01 April 2020 7:00
I needed a quick carry out deli sandwich.gluten free. I am a rookie when it comes to take-out anything. The lady who served me was very helpful in running through my choices and made me a delicious sandwich. I noticed a lot of people having a stay-in lunch too! Thanks Algoma!
15 November 2019 14:41
Very nice store with lots of goods.
Mant different varieties of apples and other garden foods.
The apples are more expensive than the grocery stores.
01 November 2019 15:19
Must stop if you are in the area or a worthwhile out of the way trip to purchase some of the best tasting foods infused or prepared with apples
06 October 2019 17:00
Great spot, just off the 401. Friendly staff. Good deli counter, produce and baked goods. Will definitely be stopping in the future.
07 September 2019 6:28
My husband and I come out about every 2 weeks to get our apples and always have lunch there. They have the most delicious sandwiches and soup. Fresh baked bread with meat of your choice and cheese of your choice and all the delicious fixings. The ladies in the store are always so happy and friendly and very helpful. The baked goods are delicious as well.
I would like to personally thank the two wonderful ladies who got me the bushel baskets for my daughters display for her business. You folks are the best!

I'm local- Algoma's is the best place to stop or call ahead for lunch in Newcastle. The lunches are super affordable, fresh and healthy and the service is even better. Ashley at the deli counter is not only phenomenal at her job (she's polite, quick, attentive, great with sales). But she's also an absolute sweetheart. I always leave with a smile on my face.and $100 worth of decor goodies from the home section! Lol beware! Algoma's is not just an apple producer/distributor! Men- letting your wives in here unsupervised is risky!
15 May 2019 9:15
The apples are grown right on the field beside the store so you know the apples are fresh. They have a gluten free section of baked good (homemade) that taste absolutely amazing! They have dairy free options and the apples are obviously amazing!
