Algonquin Outfitters - Lake Opeongo

Can’t thank Algonquin Outfitters and Sam from the Taxi boat rental unit for coming to our rescue! Completely above and beyond the call of duty! Exceptional service, knowledge and professionalism. We’ve spent a lot of time in the park and had a wonderful couple of days! We’ll be back:)

Although I rarely have set foot in Algonquin Outfitters, the main reason to visit this particular location, I have frequently visited this site to view Lake Opeongo, enjoy the cool breeze and take some lovely pictures.
Because the drive into this location is about 5-10 km off of the main highway, you are more likely to see wildlife like Moose or Deer.

Visited again Summer of 2023. A very efficient operation. Facility is clean and organized. There's lots of space pick up your boat and the staff seem to know what they're doing.

We had Algonquin Outfitters shuttle us and our canoe up to the top of Lake Opeongo for the start and finish of an 8 day canoe trip. I highly recommend doing this! And using them for this service. They were friendly, reliable, knowledgeable, & trustworthy. Our shuttle/driver rescued a family in a dumped canoe, with the greatest of care. Top notch service

Good store with most of the stuff you need for your camping. Staff is helpful. Kayak and Canoe rentals are bit expensive.

Water taxi service was great. Picked up and dropped off on time with quite friendly staff. First time using this service. Was a cool experience.

These guys are the best. Friendly organized and a pleasure to deal with. Ultimate outfitting is so convenient. Saves massive amounts of time by having it all ready to go. Water taxi is great too but be sure to be packed up and on time as they are on a tight schedule.

Sorted everything, defintely using an outfitter again. Food was delicous, equipment was great, holiday was perfect.

I've always received excellent service whenever I rent equipment. High quality gear, and the staff know their stuff and can provide advice, or even guiding service if arranged in advance. Their stores are well stocked and I can always find what I need.

AO is a park staple, and I never hesitate to recommend their services.

Really smooth and fun experience! It was our first canoe camping trip and we reserved our canoes and other equipment in advance. Staff was super kind and helpful, especially Evan - he helped us pack our canoes and told us which campsites were available.

My friend and I just had an amazing 4 day Outback trip at Opeongo Lake. We took the water taxi in to the North Arm. The water taxi people with the Opeongo Lake Algonquin Outfitters are fantastic, friendly and helpful. I have been wilderness camping Algonquin since I was 17, and have done the portaging and backpacking, etc. Now I am 70 and I do senior camping (no more portaging), and I enjoy my creature comforts in the wilderness. The water taxi guys are so accommodating to us seniors. I plan on returning each year as long as I am physically and mentally capable of doing so. Aiming for 80.

Hey guys, I want to thank every staff at the store, rental and water taxi department. Literally EVERYONE is great to deal with. We have been going to the Park for many years and used your services multiple times (water taxi, canoe rental, buying at the store) and you have always made our experience a wonderful one. For my family and friends, you have been part of our glamping adventures each summer with punctual ride to and/or from our camp sites. Each time we needed info or extra help we got it, it always felt like a natural thing to do from all of you and with a smile. Last summer I had a bad back injury and couldn't lift anything, the water taxi guys didn't think twice and helped us. This is just one example amongst many more.

If you are a potential new client, trust me and don't hesitate to use Algonquin Outfitters - Opeongo services. You'll thank me later.

Staff friendly and efficient. Equipment in good condition. Finn from the water taxi was great. I've rented from AO a few times over the past 14 years and I always have a good experience.

5 adults and 1 dog went up Jul 14-17. Rented 3 canoes and took the water taxi to a fantastic site on a peninsula on the East Arm. Sight was recommended by our water taxi driver Evan. We could not have been happier Taxi ride was fast and fun both ways. Evan could not not have been nicer and more helpful. We are going up with different people in a couple of weeks, looking even more forward to it than the first time!

If the store doesn’t have it, you probably don’t need it. Canoe rental is easy and selection is excellent. And great ice cream!

Hailstorm Creek Guided Tour.

Despite less than ideal (rainy!) weather, our guided tour with Kendra was great, she was happy, smiley and friendly (even during my somewhat terrible canoeing escapades into the weeds).

Hailstorm Creek is really pretty and this tour feels like you get to "dip your toes" into the wilder side of Algonquin. We were rewarded with Loon, Bald Eagle and Otter sightings as we paddled.

Credit to Ryan & Evan (our water taxi drivers) for doing the heavy lifting and getting us safely (if a little wet) to and from our island starting point.

Highly recommended.

Stellar squad up there at Opeongo. The girls inside hooked us up with the right gear we needed for our trip (Canoes, lifejackets). Not to mention the boys working the Water Taxi, they gave great fishing advice, and direction on the water. Will definitely use their service again, thanks guys!

I have been coming to AO for many years and will keep returning. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and professional with great equipment and service. What else is there?

They made a small error in dropping off our canoe and what time. They PROMPTLY fixed the issue and got my canoe and all the fixin's to me quickly. I had also requested a small dog life jacket. The rep brought 3, one of which I chose. That was a good thing because my dog hopped out in the middle of the lake and I was able to easily grab her and get her back in with the lifejacket. They remedied a mistake and went over and above for us. That's a 5 star business.

Always have great articles to pick up for Christmas gifts. Very good place for food, having lunch or dinner and even a snack.

Great helpful staff our water taxi driver was a great young man got some great souvenirs if you happen to forget anything they have all the things you will need for your camping trip and a knowledge of the park they love to share

We arrived to late to paddle out to our campsite the girl offered the water taxi and I am so glad she did. It would have taken us so long to get to our site. The driver of the water taxi helped load our bags well my husband went to get our PFD and paddles. Such a great trip and the canoe and equipment was in great condition. Can't wait to go back.

We were camping in Whitefish lake campground and reached out to Algonquin outfitters for the Canoes. The staff was super helpful, responded to our call immediately and sent us the canoes in minutes. We realized one of the canoes was slightly damaged on the seating area after we started canoeing, still it was a beautiful experience. It would be really great if you have hourly charges instead of a whole day, as we used it only for couple of hours.

The staff were helpful and the equipment we rented was in great condition, it's a great place to hit up before heading out onto the campsite chosen. Have not used the water taxi services as of yet but based on other reviews it's excellent as well.

Great place, amazing staff, very reliable place to rent a canoe or kayak. Lake Opeongo itself makes it worth a stop.

We took the water taxi service to Hailstorm Creek for a guide. Evan was our driver and guide! It was a beautiful day and experience. We got to see plenty of wildlife and a moose on our way out! I would highly recommend any service provided by Algonquin Outfitters. They go above and beyond!

Staff were super helpful and helped explain all the rental stuff perfectly, icecream was great especially after being away from a fridge for days.

This was my 5th trip to Algonquin but my first time handling all the reservation details. Another person in our group took care of these details in the past. Our group of six (three fathers and three sons) had a fantastic time on our back country canoe trip. Algonquin Outfitters did a great job for us. Our canoe rental and water taxi was easy to book online, the staff members were friendly, check in and check out was smooth and simple. Thank you for making our Algonquin trip a great experience.
